Why is it customary to allow fruit to form and then drop it when it is small,
rather than removing flowers so the tree doesn't waste energy forming any
fruit at all? Curious if tree growth can be increased without harmful effects
by removing flowers before they form fruit.
Thanks,

Thanks Bill and also Bill S, sounds like I can safely remove flowers to
promote wood growth. I.E. what I'm reading in to this is, there is no magic
that pollination and fruit set performs that is beneficial to young trees'
future health/fruit production.

I'm anxious to start spraying as soon as possible, so my question is: Is it
good to start spraying now when all there is to spray at this point is wood?

on the underside of the ball are there any concerns about losing the
size controlling nature of the rootstock? Again, the scions did not root. The
answer to that question will dictate whether I put those two back on the
trellis or free standing in the periphery.

on the trellis. If I still have the size
controlling nature of the rootstock, I don't want to plant them on their own
and have to stake them, I would rather train them back on the trellis.

why only one tree each since the others that didn't flower experienced

To summarize: the question is do M-111 and M-7 typically require a few years

wires separated by 22 inches) would you recommend installing the system on all

Rye,
I'm going to assume you won't be able to do 100% flower removal, and I'm
told there is nearly 0zero chance of resistance developing if you spray

it doesn't matter either way.
