Well a quick web search (though I couldn't quite find the reference to
the mailing list reference from Andrew at Samba) shows that the issue
is that it is a) a change from unix style services that do something
well and don't overtake the rest of the system b) a system that
increasingly does more
thanks for raising this issue Luke

Hi,
I wonder if Vauxhall (UK's division of General Motors (or these days,
general unexplained electrical fires...)) has any lessons for
electrical wiring in computers. True, cars aren't exactly computers.
But these days they're all wired like a computer and contain several
just behind the dash.
@Luke those friends @DELL (Ireland) haven't picked up the phone/email,
so I don't think I'll be able to help on that front (though they might
make a Treppenwitz reply)

Luke,
if you do decide to go the DELL route, last time I checked, I had
several friends at DELL all of whom could offer some employee
discounts (obviously, not as good as the Mexico deal recently
publicised). Let me know if I should send a query out to them to see
if I can get an employee
Hey Luke,
Well, obviously you know that there are a couple more hardware people
like https://www.thinkpenguin.com/ in the US and novatech.co.uk in the
UK, but none of these are particularly interesting from a tech or
friendliness perspective.
If it's just about having a machine that might be
The UK is still technically in the EU, and we have almost no customs
checks :) (I blame Boris Johnson!)

Looks like http://www.divergent3d.com is the right URL (though
slightly off topic for EOMA68, still probably worth an investment, a
portable car chassis! The video is pretty amazing)

Hi Luke,
Maybe it's me, but I don't quite follow how it's a bug to 3D print a
design you've already designed, or to fulfil your other promises.
Do, though, let me know if you do require assistance with some 3D
work, as I will have some early modeling verification prototypes up
soon (but I have
Yes, Raphaël, that is an issue. After all, if you have one of those
new fancy laptops (that doesn't have a libre BIOS) to run a
non-Windows kernel, the tool you get to use (that you can find
packaged into the Ubuntu boot discs) is actually a self-signed hack by
Microsoft (MS) to allow you to boot
Neat, I emailed the guy behind libreboot thinkpads in the UK (and this
message tallies with that, though I didn't comment as to ARM libreboot
changes) that he should support the campaign.

Thanks, I had a brief look at the video (but gotta save on bandwidth).
With only a number of days to go before the campaign closes, I hope
the project gets to see the light of day (true, I missed the light of
day working :))
@Paul - hope you're feeling better and have a full recovery. Liked the
Well, I don't think the issue right now is whether or how it compares
with other chips (we have other chips already). Of course, if it's
libre competition, that's also for the good. I guess Intel peeps could
be redirected to https://puri.sm/

Hi Luke,
It seems that you're referring to the Logitech unifying receivers. The
issue here is that out of the box these support only the devices that
they've been paired with at the factory, but can support up to 6 if
memory serves (you can check out the true limit on the L'tech
website). Anyway,
Hi guys, Hi gals
I still have yet to purchase a pre-ordered kit, but I'll do so before
your campaign runs down.
Obviously, I understand this is early days, and your current kit so
far as I understand doesn't include USB3 and potentially doesn't
include enough voltage for what I would consider a
Paul, I wish you a full and speedy recovery; thanks for all your work
on this project.
