The ITSM/CMDB is very bulky and there are lot of sub processes like
reconciliation,normalization, aie, fts etc...
I would suggest you follow BMCs hardware requirement
Many thanks for all the responses everyone.
I'm going to ask my SA how many cores the processors have and we'll go from
there. BTW he's saying that adding or dropping CPUs after the fact may be
causing some bluescreens, so I'll lobby for two CPUs and 8 gigs of RAM.

Thanks LJ. I'll bring that up as well.

Shouldn't do it 'live' by any means...any time CPU is added/removed you

Good afternoon everyone. We're in the process of building a virtual server
for a very small ITSM/CMDB/ADDM installation. BMC's hardware docs state
that the server should have two processors. We're thinking that we can get
by with only one. Any thoughts?
Thank you in advance.

Drew,
you are at a base.. come on.. 2 cpu's with loads of RAM.. minimum..
you might be able to get away with 1 but your going to have contention.. so
just tell the commander, don't be such a cheap skate..

and it
will need to have dedicated Cores and RAM, you need to check the ADDM manuals.

It all depends on how much time you want to spend waiting on the CMDB. You
can try 1, but if you start to hit timeouts (which, btw, probably means
some type of unrecoverable or a PITA to recover failure), I would suggest
you bump it up to 2. The installation process alone will probably time
out;
