K: Indian cucumber is the English name of Koduri or Konduli or Tindora. That sounds right, Mridul. The 'potol' are really waxy - and not artificially made to shine like they do to the cucumbers and tomatoes in the grocery stores here. I know what you mean about dogs. I miss my dog - Rambo (named by my brother)
in India - with whom I had climbed hills in leopard country where he chased
peacocks - and the huddled alongside me when he smelled the leopards.
And occasionally took him for late night walks (me on my bicycle) with a bag
filled with stones - to throw at scores of dangerous dogs on the way.

Thanks C'da. I would have been happier if it was called green gourd instead of pointed gourd as DD said. And the botanical name is too hard to pronounce for me as usual. :) BTW, we followed the instruction for the Neem tree, changed the pot and everything, but not a single leaf is showing now - I think it died on us.
