I bought one a few weeks ago.
I had the same issue with 'initialising network.' I had a very fast

I have concerns over the Sipura 841's TX audio quality - it

current switch. The most likely ways are

2) access code 1xxx exten dialled number
You need to get the specs for this from Your
You just need to do something like
exten = _9.,1,Dial(Zap/g1/1666$CALLERIDNUM${EXTEN:1})
You can also do some useful translations like
exten = _9[2-8]XX,1,Dial(Zap/g1/1666$CALLERIDNUM0113${EXTEN:1})
This will look for 9, then a local number beginning 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 , and

The problem lies not with Asterisk or the cards but with the combination
of voip and analogue telephony in general. I can guarantee that you

You probably need to disable echo cancel when bridged. Can't recall the exact
zapata.conf line. I had problems faxing through Asterisk until I disabled echo
cancelling on bridged Zaptel calls.

The 'channel' line has to be the last line of the declaration. Try
moving the 'overlap dial' line up above the 'channel' line.

First thing to check is that the kernel sees the card. If you do lspci
you should see the zaphfc card assigned an IRQ. If you don't see this
then your card is not being detected.
If your card is there, then try replacing nz in your zaptel.conf file

This is quite common in some countries. Analogue lines are some times

Might this explain the behaviour?

All voip providers will use digital 4-wire interconnect to Asterisk or
similar, so echo problems are much reduced, as there are only 'echo
points' at the far end and your handset.
Using an analogue card will always have its issues if you have
significant propagation delay in the path anywhere.
We are using the HFC card in point-to-point mode with DDI.
I am using bri-stuff-0.0.2 as well.

I do not believe you are correct. We see CALL PROCEEDING in both directions as part of

Asterisk sends 'CALL PROCEEDING' followed immediately by 'ALERTING'. CALL PROCEEDING

Your only tidy solution is to go for 1 ISDN line with some MSNs and an analogue line.
You will have to have an analogue line for ADSL anyway.. You will not get what you
want on analogue lines.

Dear all -
I am looking for some information about ISDN in Venezuela. I need a small Asterisk
system with 2 ISDN channels at our offices in Venezuela (Caracas).
Can anyone advise me on the best option? I am getting mixed reports - I am told that
a BRI will cost me 1000 US dollars per month!
Presumably this can then be modified for DTMF caller ID by those in NL, Brazil etc?
I will give it a go soon.
Thanks

Try setting 'reinvite=no' in the sip.conf file. This will force Asterisk to stay in
the loop...it otherwise tries to step out of the connection and let the phones talk
directly to each other, which is fine on a LAN but if both are behind NAT firewalls is
asking for complication.

Sorry, didn't read your mail thoroughly - you've already tried canreinvite=no...
Next step is to get an Ethereal log from both ends and investigate what is going on
