Julian, The output from the command "dmesg" might be useful... But it appears the Vortex86 SoC requires Linux kernel 2.6.28+ for proper support. Our RUNNIX bootloader uses kernel 2.6.26 and AstLinux currently uses kernel 2.6.27. My guess is that the SD card is not mounting since the IDE subsy

I personnaly used Win32 DiskImager that is a free tool instead of Physdiskwrite to write to a USB key under Vista. I always had a lot of problems using Physdiskwrite on Vista to install to CF or USB key. I also had to add rootdelay=10 in /os/astlinux*.conf at the end of KCMD= line for booting from
