Hi,
First time post to the list. I am not a pro by any stretch of the
imagination for Astlinux or Linux or Asterisk for that matter. Fortunately,
telephony is a hobby rather than a way to earn a living.
Anyway, I noticed that Adaptive Ban does not persist with the IP host
address ban upon reboot
Michael,
Thank you. I figured it was an easy fix. I just did not know what it was. :)

Lonnie,
Thank you for the info and the link. I am learning more as each day goes by
and each issue pops up. :)

Hi,
I am using an agi found at
https://abelbeck.com/lonnie/astlinux/info/weather.php to report
temperature, wind and a few other basic current weather events. However, is
there a weather reporting configuration for Astlinux that gives a more
detailed weather report? Maybe something that can interp
Lonnie,
You said, "Starting with working examples (like weather.agi) makes
customizing much easier than starting from scratch." That is how I am
learning. I first learn of the potential to do something with Asterisk,
then I see working examples and work to figure out how the code strings
function.

an easy way to transfer files from my laptop
to Astlinux on the thin client directly without using the flash drive. I
ask because I am probably going to relocate the thin client. I know
Windows, and I even remember DOS. However, keep in mind I am just a novice
with Linux and Asterisk.

All,
Thank you very much for the suggestions. I think I will give the bitvise a
try first. I'll see what I can mess up using it. LOL!

Paul,
I tried Bitvise first, but the WinSCP was really easy to use. I was able to
log into the Asterisk box without an issue and transfer files as if I was
using another Windows machine. Thanks!

someone please advise me as to what I am doing wrong? Keep in mind that I

Lonnie,
Symlink is symbolic link in Linux? Can you recommend a book for a Windows
guy that goes back to the days of DOS to understand Linux better?
Also, I had previously had to put in the entire path to the ulaw files in
my dialplan. For example, /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/custom-sounds-filename.
Lonnie,
Thank you for the valuable info!

Lonnie,
I deleted the virtual Astlinux and redid it. It worked. I have no idea what
went wrong the first time.

Hi,
I am connected to CNET (Collector's Network) and have one incoming VoIP
line running in Astlinux. Outgoing calls over the VoIP number have been
redundantly disabled in Asterisk and at the VoIP service providers setup
options. My Astlinux is constantly bombarded with attempts to get in by

Hi,
I changed my Gmail password and updated it using the Network tab and
Outbound SMTP Mail Relay in Astlinux. I did not change anything else in
Astlinux except the updating to the correct password, saving the settings
and rebooting.
These are my settings. For purposes of this email, I put "nothi

Any suggestions as to what to try next?
Thanks,

Michael,
Since it is a personal and not a production system, I just saved and
rebooted. Just checked my settings again, and even restarted SMTP in Edit
Tab. Still same result when sending a test email.

Lonnie,
Found it. I must have originally misread that as referring to a subject
line instead of an email address though it plainly says email address. I
think my mindset was that there would not be a "from" email address and
only a "to" since it was originating from Astlinux. Now I am not

Hi,
I made changes based on recommendations here to have the banned hosts
persist after a reboot. On the status screen there was a long list of
banned hosts under the "Adaptive Ban Plugin Status" section. I recently
rebooted, and I noticed the list has far fewer IP addresses than it used
to. Note
Micheal Keuter,
Thank you. Yes, it is the entry in user.conf that I placed. I remember that
now. I checked, and it is still present. Does the status screen for banned
hosts list all the banned hosts in the log or just a few of them? Just
curious. Thank you for the info on permanently blocking IP a
