Re: Feedback on making game blind-friendly
I have integrated everyone's feedback, except for stereo sound and making it easy to tell which sound is for which unit - sorry.I did implement shift A S D F G to heal, it's just not mentioned in the help. Please download the latest prototype here:

Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
I went through all the posts again and so far it looks like only two people actually tried it and gave feedback, @54 and @57. I guess I was expecting more responses, and at least some negative ones that it's not really fun or
Re: Feedback on making game blind-friendly
@8 sorry, I don't know what the problem is. Were you able to solve it with what @10 said?@9 Thanks for the suggestions, I'll add a pause and make the text more obvious which sound is which class or monster.@11 that's a really neat idea, I will try
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
@55 yes. For personal reasons, I stopped working on this. If I remember correctly, I didn't find the gameplay that interesting/compelling, and I got really stuck on making it fun plus the theme. If you really feel strongly about me
Re: Feedback on making game blind-friendly
Thanks everyone for the great feedback. #4 and #6 your ideas are very nuanced, and I'm prototyping right now. I have a very, very rough game loop working, and that's it. I will revisit these ideas later, thank you for them!#2 I'm building this in
Feedback on making game blind-friendly
Hi! I'm currently designing a game for sighted players, and would like to redesign it so it works for blind players too. The core mechanic is a 5-vs-5 battle, where five player units (fighter, archer, etc.) fight against five monsters. The battle
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
I'm really confused about this game. On the one hand, a couple of people said yeah, it sounds interesting/OK to play. On the other hand, it seems like a few different genres mashed together, which it is, but not in a great way. It
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
@51 thanks for the feedback. Were the mechanics or actual gameplay elements fun? Fun enough that you would seriously consider playing a full version of this game?

Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
@49 please clarify for me if you want me to add an option for real-time combat or not. My initial thought is "no don't do it" and I was copying how MUDs do it to start (generally automatic, powers and level-ups add different attacks,
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
Thanks everyone for the feedback. It sounds like there are a couple of people interested in this idea, so I will proceed with working on a full version at some point.@41 I will post an updated version shortly with an option to
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
It looks like this project is not of much interest to the blind community at all. If anyone feels strongly otherwise, please feel free to contact me, and we can discuss resuming/redoing a full version of this project. You can DM me on

Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
If anyone downloaded this, I recommend downloading it again. I just uploaded a new version just now with improved help, which lists all the commands. It should reduce some of the frustration you may feel with guessing which commands
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
@27 I removed the "you typed" because it gets repetitive fast. I only needed it to record demos. If this works with screen readers, that would be optimal, since I don't need to redo features like this, and players know how to use
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
#32 thanks for your detailed feedback. I didn't know anything about consoles and screen-readers. For this prototype, it speaks by itself. For a future version, if the feedback is good and I make one, I will do more research and

Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
First, thanks everyone who gave feedback. You can find a video of a couple of skills here: https://youtu.be/6XoZdPhJbh8I completed the full game prototype. You can download it here: https://github.com/deengames-prototypes …
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
I started adding skills. Here are two: heal, and stone skin (which boosts your defense for a few rounds).Video link: https://youtu.be/FC89UnHcdmo

Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
Hi, I started redoing the battles. You now gain experience points after defeating monsters, and level up (but it doesn't do anything yet). Battles are also now similar to MUDs, or multi user dungeons, where you make several attacks
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
@flameAlchemist the final game will include sound (background and sound-effects). This is just a prototype, so the focus is on making the gameplay fun without any of those things.

Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
Sorry it took so long. Here's an audio/video of me figuring out the second floor. The game is procedurally generated, so it's different each time you play. Here, you can see monsters drop items, and the use of the workbench to craft
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
Hi all, just a quick update. I spent a couple hours on prototyping this and it's almost done. I completed the machine puzzle room, and the final dungeon layout, so you can complete the game from start to finish.Combat is a bit
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
@Jayde thanks, I appreciate the offer. Will definitely take any and all feedback once I get the prototype done (looks like it'll take a few more days - still working on it). I will try to post updates here too instead of just saying

Re: Need a book to learn C# in a practicle approach
Hi,If you already know how to program one language, I don't know if you'll gain that much from a book. I recommend just diving into C# and building a super tiny project (maybe a simple game) to start. As you are already proficient in

Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
Hi all, I wanted your thoughts on something. As a sighted person, when I make item descriptions, they refer to things I have references to, like "shiny gems." Do these make sense to someone who was born blind, or do they break
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
Hi,Sorry for the confusion for anyone who wandered onto Twitter to find more details. This game is still in-progress (still prototyping) and I post about other games on Twitter, too. I will post updates here linking my relevant
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
Thanks for the feedback. I love (and used to play a lot of) MUDs and interactive fiction, maybe that's why I jumped to prototyping with a terminal interface. At this point, I will probably have to experiment and see what people like
Re: Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
On a tip via Twitter, I added back round-by-round combat, along with a simple options toggle to turn it on or off. Monsters also drop items, which I need for the next feature (puzzles).Link to the audio/video on Twitter:

Prototyping game for blind players and need feedback
Hi,As an experiment, I'm prototyping a game that's made for blind people first, then sighted people. I would like to get more feedback, if possible, especially from blind players, as I develop it.It's a dungeon-crawler of sorts, where
