@9 and @10Nothing else about the computer matters. If your software needs Core I3 and isn't also 10 year old software, the laptop is better for it even with an M3 processor.Motherboards as old as that don't follow the same rules as modern ones w.r.t. what's fast

The desktop is 10 years old. It's 64 bit, and has ram in 2 slots, like 1 2 GB stick and 1 1 GB stick. I know that 10 years is very very old for a computer, but it still runs fine. Not even Hard disk is showing signs of failure. The only thing that stopped working

@732-bit Windows reports 4 GB on 4 GB systems and can address 4 GB of ram, but processes only get (I think) 2 GB unless you enable an option in your binary that gives you 3.You can get 3 GB by having 3 1 GB sticks. This configuration will work, but is atypical

@4The motherboard will list the speeds it supports. The processor will also list the speeds it supports. it's been a while since I've done this, but if I recall correctly what you have to do is figure out which clock speeds are in both sets, and stick to those

@4, you don't have to, though faster is better. I think there's a limit to the highest speed your RAM hardware will allow though.

Oh no,I am not talking about replacing anything in laptop, I know that most of things can't be replaced in this laptop. Btw, Core M3 processors are not that bad, I am running it right now, typing this thing, and it runs fine with 4 GB of ram, multiple Google Chrome

consumer-grade ram is non-ECC. Places like Newegg will tell you which way it goes, but unless it says it's ECC it's almost certainly not. ECC ram is for servers, supercomputers, and other large deployments, where you need to detect bit flips due to cosmic rays
