Re: Creating an audio game using Sable (video 8), by Ebon Sky Studios

This thing is apparently only in Alpha. Who knows what the hell the beta will be like, and god knows what on Earth the  Final release will be like. At this point, I am wondering if they are trying to achieve every single little thing before release and then it ends up being a tenure project that never gets released because they want to perfect every single thing. In other words, I don’t think they realize it is OK to make mistakes. They want nothing less than perfection and they want 1 release version only,  unless they add some new very important features after that one released versione.

In terms of speed, I agree, in terms of content, it's getting there. There's stuff on there that the mice havent got yet, and soon there will hopefully be even more content.I'm wondering what we should do if there is a US and a UK version of the same movie or show. How do you pick one over the other.I'll use the scorpion king as an example, the UK version had audio ducking when describing, so I submitted what I feel, is a better version, that being the US description.I guess it boils down to what someone prefers.Sero sometimes have both versions, but they've been storing stuff for years, and probably have the storage space.I can only speak for netflix, they try not to get content that ducks the audio when describing.

Re: Whatcha Eating?

I love spicy food. Speaking of which, I had a foot long chicken, bacon and ranch sub with provolone cheese, spinach, onions, pickles, and lots of jalapenos on Italian herb and cheese bread for dinner tonight. The night before, I had grilled barbecue ribs, potatoes and green beans. I usually stick with either water or tea to drink, but I will occasionally indulge in a soda.We have a Thai restaurant here in town where I like to eat from time to time. Thai food is awesome, especially the curries. My favorites are the green and panang curries. They occasionally serve this papaya salad called som tam that tastes amazing. However, I can't eat it and be around people because it apparently makes my breath smell terrible. Must be all the fish sauce they put in it. I've only been brave enough to get four stars out of five on the som tam, and even that's super spicy.I am also a fan of Buffalo Wild Wings. My favorite wings from there are mango habanero, Asian zing, Caribbean jerk, and garlic parmesan. I tried the blazin a few years ago and they were a bit too hot for me. I'm pretty sure they've reformulated them to be even hotter than they used to be.

Speaking as someone who used iOS for several years and then switched, Android is most definitely viable. Admittedly there is a bit of a jump as you might expect, but once you get used to it it works just as well on my Galaxy S8 as VO did on my old iPhone, if not slightly better. I switched either early last year or late in 17, haven't looked back since.

@23 yeah the pot was for 10 people and most of us got seconds. It was barely enough lol.But yeah, a good pot of chili should always have that nice extra-spicy taste to it. I, as a general rule, enjoy hot stuff. I love hot sauce and as I mentioned before, buffalo wild wings is a great spicy chicken wing place to go when I'm needing some heat. I actually sometimes endeavour to increase my tolerance for that kind of food. Sometimes, I'll eat a big old handful of jalapenos and see how many I can get down. 34 is the most I've ever managed, for anyone who cares haha. Taking away the afteraffects is a little difficult though. Usually a couple bottles of propel will get rid of  the sting. If you think I'm crazy for doing that kind of thing, I know people who actually spray some of those terrible day-old burgers with pepper spray and eat them for lunch. They tell me it gives them a little flavor.

2019-03-18 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : Origine via Audiogames-reflector

Re: The bothering mystery:

The difference is that you don't scan per say, instead of moving only your character, you move 5 characters: your character and four pointers, one for each direction, at a certain distance. Because when you move left, you don't need to rescan tiles you already scanned the move before. However, you need to rescan the axis perpendicular to your movement. At least, that's what I understood from post 4.However, I have another solution if you are not memory-bound and would prefer have better performance. Since the map is static, you can preprocess all that data and add it to the map data. This way, at runtime you just have to check the new tile your character is standing on and that's it. I don't know the feature you want, but say you want the distance of the closest wall from a tile in all directions, then add 4 fields to every tile: distWallLeft, distWallTop, distWallRight, distWallBottom. Then when you character moves on a tile, lookup those properties and if the value is under a treshold, play a sound or something. If you stored your map differently, like a list of game objects, you still can burn that data in the map representation if you think about it, but it's always gonna be more memory, it's a tradeoff.

Play anyways~ That problem will get better the more you do stuff.  Just play, if something is wrong, don't start over  just keep playing the section.  Go into the midi editor with Reaper when you're done, and fix the problems you played.  Some times I have good days, where I can play through full takes of sections of songs.  Some times I have bad days where I can barely play one section, and I use the midi editor method to just get stuff down and fix in post. Also midi overdub is your friend.  If you mess up after playing for a while, but still need to play more for a song, I go to the end of the project, and just play from where I left off.But it's all just getting stuff recorded, you need to work through that by powering through first and foremost, but hope my tips help.

Re: A huge problem for me recording and composing music, any help?

Well, this, let's call it a recording anxiety is completely real thing and quite a nasty bastard! Some people have it more, some less or even not at all. My experience has shown, that the more you record, the less it gets and one day may be as well gone completely. So yeah, press that rec button and play and if you mess up: hmm - hit undo, shout and curse some and go again. Also don't be shy to feel good and proud of yourself after a good take. It applyes to both pro and beginner types. So even if you have recorded hundreds of tracks, it's still important to get that warm rush and feeling of accomplishment.

so I have a friend that I trust, so I don’t have an issue giving in my username or password teeth with swap castaways what whatever game they want to play. Is it OK if I let them be with my gamer account. They’ve had issues buying an account before, and they don’t exactly want to possibly waste another $25. I’m OK with keeping time on the account, I’m just curious if they can use it as well as me. We would have separate characters, of course, I was just curious if it would be OK for them to use mine as well.

Awesome! In tormod's stone soup quest when I use his paint bomb ability while the enemy is hidden, it still does not hit the enemy though the description says it should reveal it.Edit: I just figured out that the paint bomb skill can only hit if the enemy is not hidden and it keeps the enemy from hiding again for a while. That was a fun and challenging fight!

When I make chili, I make it hot and thick, and then dunk toast in it.Tonight I had pizza (pepperoni, asiago cheese, extra sausage). Nothing fancy. When I do grilled cheese, I use pepper jack cheese and sometimes will chuck some bacon in as well. Not good for the arteries, but very tasty.I'm also the sort of nut who will sprinkle hot sauce onto macaroni and cheese to give it a kick.

I have a few questions. One. Will the engine be free? Two. What language does this script it’s Games in,  as in, you give instructions, but mustn’t it convert those to script? Or is it something only the engine itself understands, not an exe file.  And last, will there be any beta testers at one point or another down the line, or early public releaces, any thing of that sort?

Of course, if you're getting Chinese food, there's bound to be leftovers, so you tolerate it, but it's not as good as it should be the next day.@21, I hear you about McDonald's food. I generally avoid it for the same reasons you mention, plus, in my experience, the nuggets have this weird plasticy feel to them which turn me off.As for me, there must be something of a chili kick going on around here, because that's what I'm having for dinner tonight, lol. Obviously, it wasn't deliberate, but my point still stands. You don't just bury your head in the sand and dodge a problem because that's the simple thing to do. Re: Mortal Kombat 11 has human voiced menus

Hi all,Thanks for sharing the video I made on the day the beta was released. Apologies if I wasn't specific enough when I recorded the footage. I clearly missed several key matters that needed to be addressed. I was just excited at the fact that they actually listened to a suggestion that I was asking for a long time. However, thanks to Liam for making the follow up video and giving you guys a better understanding of the feature. From reading all of the comments, it looks like everyone is caught up with the pros and cons of the feature. I'm actually going to ComboBreaker this year and hope to book a tour of NetherRealm studios while I'm in Chicago. I'm with you guys. I want them to implement more voice recordings to be able to access the options menu and the pause menu in practice mode to be able to read move lists and frame data. I think they decided of going with recorded voice to be able to apply it to all platforms. Although I wish they did it more on the lines of The Division 2.For those who are still wondering how to turn the menu reader on, do the following:1. Press start button to go to the options menu.2. Press the right bumper or R1 4 times and you will land on audio settings.3. Once in audio settings, press up twice to get to the menu reader and move either left or right on the setting. Menu raps so it doesn't matter.4. Press b or circle and the game will ask to save settings. Press a or x to confirm.Sorry for the long post. Glad to see that people are excited and not trashing it because it's not exactly what they want. One step at a time is all it takes.

O wait this forum is hosted on a dutch isp isn't it? US laws don't apply in that case, so no dmca.I took a quick look at the procedure, apparently it's much more friendly to the websites hosting the alledged infringing material. Here's a link to how you would write such a request:https://dmcahelp.wordpress.com/2017/02/ … utch-isps/interesting point is it is customary to include proof of failed attemts trying to reach the webmasters. So by some small chanse if such a notice is ever received we can just get rid of said topic. I beleive this is also how big game companies operate, first ask for something to be taken down directly by the authors of said content, if they refuse go to court. Am too lazy to search for examples.

Charlie, please do something about the extremely unfair rank system. Having extremely high level players running around with the ability to kill low level ones and be virtually invinsible isn't fair at all. Someone with 200 health has no hope of picking someone off that has 2000 or more. You should consider either designating certain parts of the map for certain ranks or just allow the program to detect ranks. If someone is of the same rank as you or maybe one higher or lower, you can see and track each other. Otherwise, you're invisible to any players who are higher or lower ranked than you. Since you're invisible, you can't track or accidentally fire. I think the ability to chat and spawn bombs, mines, and fires should remain, just make it impossible for really high level players to go around absolutely destroying people who are just getting started or are significantly lower ranked.

As some people said, certain bosses are too hard but they're not impossible. Do not! Interact with the box in Mysteries of the Ancients, that will crash the game, and that's also ware it ends until I've rewritten it. People who currently have a save, don't over level. Hi Aaron, thanks for your message. I hadn't read about this discussion with Sam. I can tell you this. I don't know the Ultrapower code nor the Constant Battle code. However I played both games and I can tell you that this is not an Ultrapower clone. I saw other Ultrapower clones here on the forum, but it is absolutely not the case with CB.If then in CB they started from lines of code present in UP I can't know it, but from there the game has changed enormously, as you can read in my guide.Having said that I add that I do not know the creators of CB, I am not affiliated with them in any way. I am simply a person who likes to discover new audiogames and it seems to me that this game is strongly underestimated in this forum. In any case, I wonder. If a game is 99% different from another can it be accused of plagiarism? Then any game is a plagiarism because it may have stolen, better, it can be inspired, to any other game.Instead we can say that it has aspects similar to Survive the wild, but even in this case, it doesn't seem at all a clone of that game.

Stop thinking of it as poke and pray, and start memorizing locations on the screen. I don't poke and pray, ever. I can log into the game and have a dungeon started within 30 seconds unless I need to do party management. That's why I've been trying to describe locations on the screen instead of just saying, poke around until you hear a noise, then turn VO back on and see what happened. If I were doing that, I would never have lasted a year playing this game and certainly would never have beaten 3 of the 3 star magicite bosses, some of the most difficult content in the game according to other players.I have started work on the guide. It may need some polishing after I post it, we'll see what you all think. But if blind players never start really trying to conquer this game, it for sure will never have any accessibility improvements. And that would be a huge shame. Here is a mini guide on how to equip abilities, materia and soul breaks.Go to the character management screen by tapping one of the cached images after a character name and HP on the main party screen. Then go to the abilities tab, the second tab in the order.Find the ability names and flick left of the first one. You should see a cached image, double tap it. If you have no abilities equipped, I recommend using optomize as detailed above. You should now be on the ability management screen. You can flick through your list of abilities and select one. Then navigate to the last heading VO can detect and you will see your 2 equipped abilities. Select the one you want to exchange.Soul breaks work the same way. You can reorder the breaks from left to right for convenience and this is how they display in battle. You can also remove all but 1 break for faster use without having to deal with the extra menu in battle.Legend materia are the same, with exception that you can't see the names until you get into the management screen. Legend materia are the first images, then record. This is how I build my battle strategies, combined with character organization and equipping damage boosting relics. It does work. But expect it to be just that, work for a while, then fun. It takes patience and time to learn. The good news is you don't have to spend hours and hours playing. I only spend about 5 minutes a day playing and have for most of the time I've been with this game.

I am simply a person who likes to discover new audiogames and it seems to me that this game is strongly underestimated in this forum.

rewriting one of my games

I have written a small peer to peer internet game in bgt that is a spin off of time fcrest. It is a nice little game and it can be a blast. However the way I have coded it is an absolute pain in the ass. It supports 4 players, and for each player I have to write the same exact thing. So I have 4 sets of everything. Menus, music selection, and 4 wheels. But that's not the part that is a pain in the ass. The part that is: having to write 12 blocks of the same code to make sure each player receives each player's online action. For example, player 1 receives 2, 3, and 4. Player 2 receives 1, 3, and 4. You get the idea. That's 12 blocks of the same code!I would like to make a player class containing all of the variables so I only have to write everything once and not 4 or 12 times. However I am not very good with working with classes, and adding online to it makes it even more frightening. What is the best way to go about rewriting this? I may have lots of trouble at the start. The thing I have the most trouble with is assigning the player to that specific player when they connect to the server, but that's a step ahead of what I need to do. If anyone can help me start rewriting this, that would be fantastic!

Re: A huge problem for me recording and composing music, any help?

If you are using logic, if you can play fine without recording, what you can actually do is rewind all the way to the beginning of your project by pressing enter, then press space. As long as you can play along with the metronome at least without getting nervous, you can do this. So after you press space to start playback of the click, and whatever you have recorded so far, play what you can't when you record. When you're done, press space again, then press shift R. This actually is kind of a feature built for people who have this problem, as well as people who might get a good idea while playing along to a track, then completely forget it a few seconds later. Anyway, what shift R will do is capture the notes you were just playing, and save them just like you recorded them. And the best part about this is you don't have to press shift R until you get it right, so it's worth trying. If you are using reaper, I might recommend playing whatever you're having a problem with in logic, then exporting it as a midi file then putting it into reaper. Does that help at all?

Re: This forum's copyright and cracks discussion problem

I'd like to jump in here real quick with an overview of the DMCA. The DMCA has 37 sections related to copyright; I'll only be going over the first, second, and fifth (17 U.S.C. 512 - Limitations on liability relating to material online). You can read more at the OLRC home (just google "Read the United States Code") (or, of course, Wikipedia has an article).Section 512 has quite a few paragraphs. For this post I'll only go over the first two and a portion of the third, as well as paragraph (j). Those portions state:(a) Transitory Digital Network Communications.-A service provider shall not be liable for monetary relief, or, except as provided in subsection (j), for injunctive or other equitable relief, for infringement of copyright by reason of the provider's transmitting, routing, or providing connections for, material through a system or network controlled or operated by or for the service provider, or by reason of the intermediate and transient storage of that material in the course of such transmitting, routing, or providing connections, if-(1) the transmission of the material was initiated by or at the direction of a person other than the service provider;(2) the transmission, routing, provision of connections, or storage is carried out through an automatic technical process without selection of the material by the service provider;(3) the service provider does not select the recipients of the material except as an automatic response to the request of another person;(4) no copy of the material made by the service provider in the course of such intermediate or transient storage is maintained on the system or network in a manner ordinarily accessible to anyone other than anticipated recipients, and no such copy is maintained on the system or network in a manner ordinarily accessible to such anticipated recipients for a longer period than is reasonably necessary for the transmission, routing, or provision of connections; and(5) the material is transmitted through the system or network without modification of its content. Re: My First real game, The blank game 2 Pine Attack!

I've already started, and am planning on adding all the things you've said. One thing that hasn't been mentioned here, stats. In old versions of the game, they went up when your characters leveled up. I'm thinking that's how I'll do it in this version. About characters:Garganchan wasn't doing damage because Text Game Maker has a set way that punches do damage. I think I'll add hammers or something that Garganchan can use. Yeh, Move was way too strong. He's supposed to be that way, but I will make him weaker if I power down the enemies. About boosses.Yes, the Behemoth is weak. I'll increase his damage, and maybe I should make critical hits ignore defense. Bombusect has way, way too much defense. I found that out when testing the game. I'll make it ultra weak to fire and lower it's HP. Tenshaino hits too hard because Earthquake is a magic attack and it's too strong. Actually, I finished the skills and settings and now have just the enemies and the game itself to go. The story? I'll just say it this way. I'm a weird person. I use my immagination too much. And I did say the story was stupid to some people, rite? I'll remove the whole Chris Pine thing at the beginning, but I won't tell who Leefox is. The phone calls and 8 6 7 5 3 O 9 bombs, I'm keeping that in. The game just isn't ment to make sense. It's also been changed from "Pine Attack" to just "The Blank Game2". Are their spasific parts you don't want? Also, just a clairification on songs and sounds used in the game. I heard that as long as I give them credit in the documentation, it should be fine to use them. If any one knows a reason why I shouldn't use these songs, post here. I'm not listing all of them, just the ones that might have coppyright laws I don't know about.18-4 boss theme from Bokurano Daibouken2 and the stage 18 theme itself.Rhythm Boxing (a game on Wii Fit Plus). Basic Step (also from Wii Fit Plus).2 songs from Pokemon Red and Blue. One is used when you interact with any of the Rockets, and the other one is played when you're about to fight Meggatron (the Rocket Booss). The Manalyth Factory and Tamer battle songs from Manamon. The beer songs used during the game (Miller, Bud, Schaefer, Schlitz).867-5309 by Tommy Tutone (used in the prison, the phone calls and the sound of Leefoxes strongest attack). We Are The Champions by Queen (used when you clear hard events and during Trump's puzzle.)Note: I recorded all of these songs, and gave credit to all the creators stating that none of these songs were mine, and saying who they belonged to.

Aren't we talking about only deleting accounts which have zero posts, though? Can we prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that other games besides Crazy Party do not use pirated sounds? No? Didn't think so. It's well-known around here that Crazy Party is my favorite game, but that's not why I'm defending it, it's because we honestly have no idea whether every single game in this database is squeaky clean. Trying to figure that out would be a hell of a thing, and would absolutely lead to false accusations and even more false positives, alienating devs and making tensions rise even more which is exactly what we don't need.Going back to Crazy Party, how many people have streamed/played it on Youtube? I believe the answer is several, yet those videos are still happily absorbing views and likes every day. Even Manamon has had its moments in the sun on that platform. Youtube didn't take them down, even though they have a famously aggressive anti-piracy stance. One of my favorite channel hosts has a running gag about that, in fact, where he plays a few seconds of a song while demonstrating some audio tech or other he's found, then talking about whether it will generate any content matches. So, honestly, let's calm down about this whole Game X uses stolen sounds crap, it's not going to lead to anything productive.

Re: Killer Instinct and Other Fighting Game Viability

There is a totally blind competitive player in Street Fighter V. I believe his name is Blind Warrior Sven. I, for one, am a casual fighting game player and I do ok. I am low vision and have been playing Capcom and NRS fighters for most of my life. I regularly get bodied by totally blind players in SFV and Injustice 2. It takes patience and time but it can definitely be done.  I have a PlayStation so I’ve never played KI  but I hear the sound design is great .  Memorizing the menus isn’t a big deal in a fighting game. I recommend taking some characters and messing around with them in training mode.  Find a moves list and combo list online and try  doing what you can. When you find a character that clicks,  hop into arcade mode or something that pic to you against the computer just so you get a feel for the basics. You won’t really get better until you play other people, though. Try to find people to play with from these forums or just a friend that you can play with . I’ve had the luck of playing with smoothgunner  among others  and get good feedback on my gameplay. Sadly, school is kicking my ass and I haven’t been able to play much these days. Once in a while, I still jump on  Soul Calibur VI and get  some matches in online. In my opinion, some games have a player base   That are just savages even in lower ranks.  If I play Street fighter V online  against random opponents, I have to be mentally prepared to lose a lot... especially if I’m not playing at the top of my game. Whereas with something like  Mortal Kombat XL and Soul Calibur VI, I fair much better online...  even though I am fairly certain I am considerably worse in those games. A little off topic but I believe the latest  Dead or Alive has a lite version with 4 characters playable in online ranked and limited offline modes.  But I’m not sure how this sound design is in that game as I’ve heard close to  nothing about it.

Re: Killer Instinct and Other Fighting Game Viability

Hmm pretty sure I haven't played a straight up fighting game that was only 20 percent accessible, and I've been playing them since street fighter 2 world warrior on the SNES. I'd say at worse 75 percent accessible and that's only if you have open worlds stories and written tutorials to worry about.

How can i do this? Please help me

Hello! How can i create a thing like this in bgt: I launch the game. Then, the voice says Welcome and the game starts. Then i press the left arrow key and the voice speaks some text. Then, after i press the left arrow(this is the function startgame) then the new function will start. Then the voice speaks a message again. How do i do this so that the other function will also wait for my keypresses after the previous one has finished? If this sounds a little confusing, i will put the code below. Please tell me what i should do:void main(){tts_voice voice;show_game_window("test");voice.speak_wait("Welcome");startgame();}void startgame(){tts_voice voice;voice.speak_wait("Ready? Go!");while(!key_pressed(KEY_ESCAPE)){if(key_pressed(KEY_LEFT)){voice.speak_wait("Up, what next?");difficult();}}else if(key_pressed(KEY_RETURN)){voice.speak_wait("Ptich");}}}void difficult(){tts_voice voice;voice.speak_wait("That was not so difficult, saw... But haha. I reversed the keys.");while(key_pressed(KEY_ESCAPE)){if(key_pressed(KEY_UP)){voice.speak_wait("Here we go!");}}}ThanksBest regards: Marco

Re: A huge problem for me recording and composing music, any help?

Well, you can use step recording in reaper which allows you to record one note at a time. Plus, just like ironcross mentioned you can easily correct your mistakes by editing the notes using the midi editor. Also, just think about having fun with what you're doing and try not to pressure yourself.

Re: A huge problem for me recording and composing music, any help?

Well, part of it is just performance anxiety, which I can't give any advice on how to fix. What I can say though is that you can edit the mistakes out of the midi data, you can move notes around, basically arrange the piece, so it doesn't matter if you play wrong notes if you then go in and fix it.I get a similar thing if I have to talk into a voicemail, or if I have to talk on the mic when making a recording. IT gets like more difficult to breathe, my throat feels tight, etc.

I don't know what you are using, so I can't really give you step by step instructions, but if you are good with musical notations you could use step recording.

Re: Accessible Sound Design Course (Free)

Re: Accessible Sound Design Course (Free)

@11 Get Sws too, you may not use it at first quite a lot, but Osara has keymaps for some of its actions that are handy, and the more you use Reaper, the more you will come to start using and loving what SWS adds to it. Imagine you see two tracks in your project that are too high, and need to be turned down, first off, if you don't have SWS, you can go to them and hold alt down arrow, the titration is 0.05 though, so I think that sucks for just turning something down, though its good for fine tuning. Now, if you use an SWS action, and one that Osara has bound to a key in its keymap, you can nudge by 1dB per press, better right? But what if they need to come down oh, about 6dB, you could do that too, find the track, hit control shift down arrow 6 times, go to the other track, do the same, and that's like 14 keystrokes minimum. Or, you can open up ReaConsole, something that SWS provides you, and with two commands, do the same task.@8 You had me in a tail spin, like if I didn't even know something as simple as hz vs. khz, what else didn't I know lol. I was like, questioning everything I thought I knew about audio.

can't post youtube comments

Youtube recently got an update. When writing comments I can not post or discard them, it just shows the keyboard and I can type. With Voiceover off I can't find the send button. At first I thought this was an iPhone xs max issue only, but someone else with iPhone 8 told me they are having the same problem. Who else is experiencing this problem? And where is the send button located so I can press it without Voiceover on until they fix this.
