Just a few things to note:1. If youre playing a handheld pokemon game, use headphones, since youll get more exclusive feedback that way. Things are easier to hear, though headphones are not at all utterly necessary in older games. In the newer ones, where music has more bass, bumping walls is sometimes hard to hear, but even this is only a once-or-twice-in-the-game thing.2. Look up a lets play of a pokemon game, particularly one thats narrated by someone, and you will have a person telling you whats happening, even if theyre interjecting their own comments or being silly in the mix. For instance, you might hear someone say, Oh, I freaking hate Magicarp. Why do I have to keep fighting stupid Magicarp? so you know that the pokemon ry youre hearing likely belongs to Magicarp. If you then hear him say, Okay, Flaffy, ThunderPunch it! and then you hear some vaguely electric-sounding thing, you now know what Thunderpunch sounds like. And yes, some people do say and do stuff like this, though not all do. Honestly, it took me about ten minutes to get used to pokemon enough to level for my brother and explore a bit. He even got mad because I found a way past a part in Pokémon Blue that had been eluding him. I just went somewhere he hadnt because I hugged a wall.3. I do agree that sometimes, fighting games can be horribly imprecise about voices and absolute positioning. I will, however, say, that I got quite good at MK Deception for the PS2, without headphones, and without exact stereo panning. Im no pro, but I can probably hold my own against anyone but a raw expert. I quickly learned whether certain fireballs shot high or low, whether a popup would juggle or just knock back (you can usually tell by the way the victim bounces), all that jazz. I do find it annoying that, say, Li-Mei and Jade have the same voice, but usually it takes maybe a second or two in order to figure out which is which.4. Im not saying issues dont exist. Im not saying games are a hundred percent accessible because they certainly arent. At worst Im suggesting that some of the hurdles you suggest perhaps are personal rather than global. And a couple of them, such as exact stereo panning in a fighting game, are probably not necessary. Things happen far too fast and in far too abstract a manner for our brains to both process it and then input buttons for it. If you could fight like your characters do, and were fighting in real-time, maybe if you could hear your opponent coming and he was making plenty of noise you could react, but it is unlikely in the extreme that instead of, say, kicking or punching or blocking, as youd have to be taught, you instead had to input an arbitrary set of commands with your fingers. You dont do that every day for a specific reason, so the synaptic response simply isnt that fast; thus I argue that panning in a fighting game is of little to no functional use, particularly if its fast (and it has to be). You need to know whether you are on the left or right, which can usually be done with headphones (thats true of pokemon too, by the way, since if you configure things you should always hear your own creatures on the left).Anyway, ramble over. to be honest bryan the dynamics in those sorts of relationships are far too complex to characterise by beauty and the beast, particularly given that A, the beast wanted to change the way that he was (which is usually the point), and B, that the beast changed as much because of what he felt for her as the other way around, which has also been known to happen in reality. Again, I think myself thats going way too far, indeed if you want something of the same light that is much more adult and offers a much clearer idea look at Phantom of the Opera, which is surprisingly not all lovy dovy as youd expect, indeed when I saw the beauty and the beast stage musical it was pretty obvious that they wer trying to emulate phantom in a lot of inserted songs for the beast, though given the intrinsic symplicity of the story it didnt work too well. On the plus side the stage play did have the hilariously wonderful idea that Gaston was Elvis! and while I did mis
 s mighty, manly gaston from the film it was different and rather fun. Well fair enough grryf glad you got it fixed, though last download manager I tried was actually slower than doing it manually . Then again I have gone up from a fairly fast dsl connection to a quite insane fiberoptic one whos speed is rather ridiculous, so I suppose my situation is different. I would indeed like to support were alive if the series is good, however Id prefer to send them a donation as buying something I dont need seems a little wasteful to me. Regarding leviathan orin I agree, I cant wait for the next directors cut! as however I believe the weekly episode series is currently somewhere around chapter 34 or 35, and Christof has said the rest of the series will be available when they hit chapter 38 I dont suppose itll be too long now. One especially nice thing I like about levviathan is th
 e way that buying new episodes fills in gaps, like who Harliquins apprentice is, indeed getting harliquins backstory was quite surprising. I also like the fact that the series is so reasonably priced, not like most audio dramas which generally work out more expensive than dvds in terms of price vs running time. 19 usd for 13 extended episodes was fine with me, and I like the way new specials are 3-5 usd each. Oh, and btw, I now will never be able to think of newcastles milennium bridge in quite the same way again . I was surprised how accurately they got that, it was quite something to see a bridge I know quite well in audio (remember newcastle is only 15 minutes on the train from me). They were actually quite on with newcastle city too, since it is a very strange case where modern has been married to old quite well, and is quite a pleasant city

Hi.Agreed on what has been said here. First I thought I wouldnt just pop in and say what I think, that the game should be made first and then voice acters. Its not my project so I felt pretty bad about saying that, but now Im glad I did it, and thanks for the positive feedback, and thanks for helping on explaining why this is a good idea. Making a script for a game which contains lots and lots of ideas and dreams can be pretty easy, but when it comes to code the thing, the game can change so badly, so you cant imagine your own dream!  An other thing to mention is, it might be hard for voice acters to fully get an idea about what they should sound like without having a concept demo or maybe the full game to play, so they can get an idea about the game it
 self. That of course depends on what they have to say. For example, if they have to shout to an other person across a room, it might be easier to have been in the room in a game instead just reading: Shout to the person across the big room.When companies are making a mainstream game, they are doing it in an other way. They are making lots and lots of paintings which they show voice acters, designers, coders etc. so they can get an idea about what the man behind the whole project wants. We cant do that, but we can have a game with the rooms which would be like paintings for us. We could just have empty rooms, you know, an empty game, just to get an idea about what the game is gonna like, and then slowly add more and more stuff into the rooms, which will transform into a game. There are many ways to do this, but this is the best solution I can come up with. What do you t

That is the model side scroller I would say any audio game developer should be going for if theyre going for an action game with some adventure and rpg elements. blind adrenaline cardroom have their own programms, and indeed very good poker games, see the db. They are cheaper than allinplay and in my personal opinion better quality, particularly given the choice of varients such as omahar rules, five card stud and the traditional texus holdem, plus many different types of tournaments and ways to configure tables. the only down side is they still cost money, about 4 usd a month I believe. Another alternative is quentin Cs playroom which has recently added poker, and has the advantage of being free and outputting to a lot of screen readers. I dont know how detailed the various options for playing poker or creating tournaments are, but you might want to give that a try too.Unfortunately since most actual poker sights use flash or other irritating methods, theres nothing else Ive heard of, particularly not in terms of using real money, though personally Id rather not play with actual cash myse

trouble with skate scape

Well I thought Id try this and do a db page, however the game is proving a little confusing. I start the first level, I get to a woop woop which the readme said was a half pipe, so I press up since anything else (including up and right), has me fall and scream rather loudly, so Im holidng up, I hear the sounds of my scates go soft, then nothing. Hi,Agreed. Even Mision Zetton, an old IRC script thing of mine, took me a week to code for around maybe an hour or two of story, and even the boss battles didnt work properly. I got to a point where I got negative health and it wouldnt trigger the game over scene. I got over the first thing but I have no idea how or what I pressed. I didnt realize you literally have to press right only for a short time and then hold up until you get to the downwards end of the pipe, perhaps with a jump in the middle if your clever and want to try special tricks (though those are tough). I totally agree with Cae_Jones. its actually a good thing swampnet is getting us banned if you think about it, because if it didnt, they could cause a lot more harm once they accessed our accounts. I think selling mostly happens in chat, however I have discovered a problem, dying in combat is amazingly harsh since you lose every single item you were carrying, all tools, weapons, everything! Yes, I know the idea of a corrupted swamp full of decaying zombies is sort of amusing, but Im actually talking about the main zip folder. I decided to download the thing again and have a look at it since I wanted to see what had been done with the campaigne mode, hwoever whenever I try to unzip the folder Im told its corrupted. I have tried 7zip, and Ive tried the basic windows extractor, Ive even tried just hitting enter to look at the contents, but no go either way, I get messages about corrupted files. Oh yes, Ive also tried downloading again three or four times, but that didnt work either even though other files from Aprones site (including ironically the swamp patch), worked fine. Hi.I have now got sighted assistance on the game. Im sorry to say, but it seems as this game is waist of money. The menus are a new system which is made for the Playstation move, and for that reason, you have to use the left analog stick and move the cursor like a mouse, and point on each menu item to access them. The game doesnt make any sound when the cursor goes over a menu item, and its even difficult to move the cursor when getting help from a sighted person. Have you seen this before, and do you have any idea about how to get around this issue?Im considering contacting Sony to get my money back because of this. Well that would explain it, since I tried a bit later and it was fine, however I dont think I like paying on such a big map, since trying to actually find any zombies was nearly impossible! basically I spent literally over an hour wandering around until I finally found a spare weapon to donate for reputation to get aquest, I then tried five different buildings before finally entering the K mart to find likely at least about half of the players andan equal number of zombies,  really I thought it was supposed to be hoards of zombies prowling the streets and the survivers holed up in buildings not the other way around .I then got basically mobbed to death, so for all that time I spent I had a grand total of 4 killsand three of those were in the K mart. Methinks Ill try later when the map is less conjested. Perhaps some method of evening out zo

I didnt actually see any walls, in fact if those woop woop things are half pipes then I dont know if there were any walls. The woop woop things are walls, actually. I think the pipes make ding sounds and have a more distinctive, metal skating sound. Thats probably why youre confused, because what youre actually doing is skating up a wall. Which ... I have no idea how youd accomplish, but its not my game, haha. Maybe its supposed to signify skating along side a wall. But either way, youll definitely know when youve hit a pipe because at the end if you can make the jump, youll go into a trick mode where you can do all kinds of random tricks that really mean nothing to me. Yep, brads right, at least thats how I interpreted it as well.SpoilerYou fight the mini boss there, she gets attacked just before you strike the final blow, and dies. But then Last Hope, your sword, starts shining, and pulls her soul into it. This is where the game gets kind of a weird party mechanic, since you actually end up with multiple people in the same body, that you can use the sword to change to at will. Its strange, but then, what japanese RPG doesnt have a strange element to it? haha.Spoiler End.The guy you beat isnt actually the boss. Thats just the mini boss. If you remember, theres a room with a pit that you should have found earlier, that you couldnt jump over because you didnt have Lilia. If you go back there, youll find a key. Then you can go to the room below the mini boss and ... well, Ill let you figure it out from there since its just a matter of collecting keys
  to unlock the boss door.Brad, hmm. Are you talking about the lava pits? If I remember right, for that one you kind of have to do some strategic jumping. Id recommend killing all the enemies first, and then very carefully picking your jumps. As you probably know, when you jump over a lava pit, it makes a little fire sound. A lot of those pits are crammed close together, so you have to have quick reflexes and stop moving in the air before you start jumping the next pit. So once you hear the fire sound stop playing, make sure you land before you go over the next pit, and then jump that one. Eventually you should make it to the statue. Ah, that might make more sense. i assumed the wooping things were half pipes because they had an up going bit, then some space, then a downwards bit, where as Id assume a wall would be narrower. Equally I did find some weerd sounding things and sometimes noticed my skates making metal sounds, but in general I didnt really know what was going on,  as I said, more detailed documentaation would have been nice. This was sort of like road rash, since it was a full on racing game, but you could punch, kick and elbow the other players. One particularly cook think i remember was that occasionally cars would pass you, and you could grab the bumper and get pulled along for a while, but if another person tried at the

Sounds like its a bug in gwconnect. We know what your going for, characters interacting with each other. We are just trying to give you advice, and trying to help you not make the same errors as other devs who start simmler projects do. Please understand we didnt mean fully use screen reader support, all we said was tts is a very good starting point. If you skip strate to the high-quolity voice acting, what happens when you decide to change a characters voice during development? or, what happens when voice acting doesnt get done? You will get voice actors, but its better to have something to show them. I understand why most voice acting is payed. Offten times, it takes several days to do a single seen. It requires lots and lots of recording to make sure that they sound at their best. Trust me I know what its like, you just want the game development to progress so we can all play it, but developing a game takes time and I think we might need to slow down a bit. Here
 9;s my advice. As others have said, develop a consepte demo first. This insures you can at least get that far. Then, at this stage, now that you have something to show people, lots of voice actors will jump on board. If you have someone programming for you, after they have a consepte demo done and you have voice actors, you can then turn your attention to the awsome action of this game, now that you have the bottom of the structure built. Im not sure how good an analigy this is, but building a game is like building a building. If you rush it and try to do one brick before the bottom structure, the building falls, same here. You dont need to take my advice if you dont want to, but im just throwing it out here for any aspiring game dev, and I would love to see this project off the ground and into reality. Its been a while since I last played swamp, and I deffinately like the look of the various newoptions for armor etc, very cool. Well, heres the thing with Microsoft. MSAAs needed an overhaul for years, UIA is buggy by all accountsIve heard, and I cant help but ask if Narrator in windows 8 supports IA2. Accessibility has become a buzzword these days, at least to some small extent, and Microsoft has the resources to put a team of a few people together. I may have complaints with Apple, but at least their accessibility API is somewhere near where the average developer works not some major and majorly mysterious set of COM objects. MSAA cant represent rich text well, and Microsofts own products manage to fail to expose stuff in some places. IA2, the most capable accessibility API for windows at least as far as Ive seen, wasnt even made by them. Ill reevaluate my position on Narrator in another 5 years or so, after I see what it becomes. Hi all, im working on a patch to the game to fix the glairing bugs you all have reported. Currently I have optomized the games responciveness by tweaking the doors a little, which should fix the ishue slj and the others are having with the game getting stuck. Im also implementing the final touches to mission 1, which is what your first objectives are, the ones you are on now. Thats why each objective currently requires you to go in a new room and you get down to repairing. The second mission will deal with fixing the ships failing orbit. Yes, this means you will finily get to go to the ships bridge and actuley shoot debris and other space things that get in the way, since the ship was mining at the time of the infection. The patch is coming soon, just need to put the last objective in and put the finishing touches in. Hello. So I was doing a google search for accessible boot managers and found that in ubuntu, the ubuntu boot manager, in this case grub, has ability to talk through espeak or 8 bit wav files. The poster claims if you press f9 when the bootloader is loaded, it will start talking through a synth or 8 bit recordings of synths? Is he referring to grub? There are some rooms in the volcano where the edges are surrounded by fire. You just have to feel out which pits can be jumped and which cant. Its a little hard but once you get the hang of it its not too bad. You guys think those jumps are hard, go try the bonus cave just after the ruins. Which version of XP does this come with?

Hi all,I was just thinking about this recently. About 6years ago, I got a new Del laptop with XP on it. A few months later I was at my grampas house, and being the total nut I am, I searched for all the wav files on the system. Most of the avs were either things i had put there, or were sound scheme things... I believe the system had media center on it, not sure though. But in the midst of all those wav files, there was a huge list of maybe 100 wavs. The quality was pretty bad, but each wav seemed to be part of a step by step tutorial on how to use certain programs like Outlook, and Calendar, stuff like that. Perhaps Word was in that list I really dont know what all the tutorials were about. The voices that read the step by step instructions would alternate between a male and a female, and they were not synthetic. Hmm, maybe it was part of an office tutorial? Im fairly certain Office 2003 was on that old laptop but again Im not sure. The lap
 top did come with plenty of things I didnt want, but I dont remember what. Personally, when I get a new computer, I dont want anything on it... So it strikes me as odd that it would ship with an Office tutorial, or even a Windows tutorial, that relied on spoken wav files. But at this point Id believe anything.Being the stupid kid I was, I didnt back those files up to an external, because I thought the laptop was immortal, in a sense. Turns out it barely made it to its second birthday. Which is ashame because I now find myself collecting stupid tutorial thingies like that, just to listen to when Im bored. So, does anyone know what these tutorials might be? Im not desperate for them, it just drives me nuts that I dont know anything about where these files came from. i had several XP machines after that old laptop, but none of them had these files on them.So, does anyone have any possible ideas about the origin of these files?
