Even 2D games can in some cases be difficult or impossible to make accessible depending on the design in question, a focus on point and click interfaces leaves us out in the cold.Games which are playable by blind people are all well and good but I think the closest weve got so far is Zombies, Run since none of the other titles have had any real traction in the mainstream. Making a successful indie game is hard enough in the first place, making one with the initial design goal of being playable by VI players while also popular in the mainstream is even harder.

Defender, a domain normally points to a fixed IP. Thats why Ive come across several occasions when muds have had a change in server arrangements and its taken a few days in some cases for the new IP to fully proliferate through the domain name server (DNS) network. If you dont have a static IP your IP will have changed before the DNS network has fully updated from the previous change.The DNS is essentially just a phone book for the internet, your computer sends off the address its looking for and the DNS returns an IP address much like looking up a name in a telephone directory and getting a phone number. There are more complicated details but long story short, the web address only exists to point to a particular IP address which is stored in DNS servers and DNS servers just arent designed for frequently changing data.

Hi, Im trying this game and has a lot of potentialities. The 2d platforming is good, and now Ive understand how to do it. Ive also completed some of rooftops activities to increase level. I think two points to improve the game are: 1. Make the knife a weapon that cant go away. For example Ive died, and now Ive lost the knife, and Ive no weapon.2. Increase the activities as a single player. Good rooftops activities and some monsters. For now I am the only player connected, so if would be good to increase the monsters that are automatically present in the game, so if someone connect, and there is no other player, one can play alone.What do you think?

While I know MushZ is obviously based on mushclient, it really would be more helpful if people thought of it as a custom client for Alter rather than a soundpack, sinse really its a long way from just a folder with a few sfx to make the game more interesting. thats why I use MushZ for alter even if Vipmud is my client of choice for muds generally.

Nothing wrong with catchy lines and action once in a while, but if its got nothing to back it up with it loses its chalm pretty fast, heck how popular and well remembered are the big hollywood superhero films like the first few X men ones from even five years ago? Look at how they remade spiderman after the last few spier man films werent even 10 years old. If you look at the big action films like Starwars that have really stood the test of time they always had rather more going for them, for all they had the action and so on.

Regarding swamp, the graphics arent intended as a full representation of the enviornment anyway, it would be wrong to assume they were, they are more like a place holder blip meater, all the information is still sound based. Regarding big companies nfortunately people are correct, much as Id like some pressure from the government to force access I doubt that will happen however I am less certain on either indi games. A Dark room was universally praised and won many awards and contests, yet is pure text. There are movements in the gaming public away from major 3D graphics, particularly because there are segments of gamers who feel the big budget releases have gone into the teretory of all glitz and no go. It is to those sorts of people that games like Papasangre are intended to cater for. My issue with swamp was more that Swamp would! be playable by sighted people but people do not because that word blind is used. Ill also say that 
 if games follow the same route as films and other forms of entertainment, then the tablet will see a rise in indi companies interested in audio, which indeed is happening. To be honest though I dont think the question of whether we will see more or less access in games in the future is quite as fundamental as the question of why sighted people dont perceive blind people as having an interest in games in the first place. After all contrast the amount of games on places like oneswitch and the amount of discussion on sites like game hippo, able gamers and retro remakes about games for motion impared or even colour blind gamers with the amount of discussion of audio or accessible text representative titles. Even Amir Rajan, the developer of A dark room said that he didnt even consider Blind game access until he recieved a tweat from someone on the subject. I find it interesting that people automatically assume that computer games and blind people dont mix,
  or dont really think of blind people at all where as other disabilities get such prominance in this area. Part of it is undoubtedly that video games has come to mean computer games of all sorts, and thus there is a standard linguistic problem there with the existance of games played either through audio or listening to screen readers speak text, I even remember one person from the forum who contacted a browser game developer who refused to believe that screen readers existed. That! is what I meant earlier by perceptions needing to change.

And its a very interesting question in my opinion. I am not sure if the structur of soundRTS would allow such a modification. You know Many of the Star wars scenarios take place in space. And i dont think soundrts can simulate this. But hey, if you got ideas and if we could frind some people wich are a little bit known in modification stuff of this soundRTS-engine, we could try it. Why not? There are allreadey a lot of available sounds and the only thing is that we would have to think about how to manage it. For example maybe we could make some planetary battles with dropships in orbit wich are sending troops in a specific amount of time. Yes, maybe we would have to call such different types of dropships and will pay for them with resources. Yeah, i think, ground battles could be possible. Anyone interested? To be honest, somehow i like this idea.HAHA, sorry for my sometimes bad bad english!

Sure. I think a Star wars mod for SoundRTS could be done. As it happens I have a huge library of sound effects, music, and so on and the only thing is to think about what kind of mod we would want.For example, one possibility is one set in the rebellion era with rebel ground troops fighting Imperial storm troopers etc. I can easily see archers being replaced with snipers, foot soldiers being replaced with infantry, perhaps knights being replaced with Jedi, and so on. As I said it needs some things to be thought about, but I certainly think something like that can be done.If someone would want a more space based game I think that also could be done, but would require a bit more thought since the game was designed for ground based play than space based gaming. However, I do see ways my game, final Conflict, could be converted from a Star Trek to a Star Wars game.

Ghost Rider, Im all for good action movies, plenty of fighting, lots of action, etc but unfortunately that is all they seem to have going for them. They often miss out on good character development, good story writing, and focus exclusively on the action and special effects. As Dark said the original Star Wars movies had plenty of action, but George Lucas put a lot of work into character creation and put some thought into the story he wanted to tell. We cant say the same about many of the superhero genre of movies that have been coming out the last few years.Dark, I can understand where you are coming from on the patriotism angle. Although, I do believe this comes down to a difference in the way many Americans are raised to believe in American exceptionalism. As I think I have mentioned before here on the forum our public education system is riddled with the concept that America is exceptional, that we are barers of enlightenment, that we have a mani
 fest destiny to take an active roll in leading the world. That engrained belief in truth, justice, and the American way is most noticeable in movies and books where the hero is an American created by an American author. It should come as no big surprise given the things most Americans are taught while growing up.For example, take the subject of history. When I was in school I had one year of world history and two years of American history. As a result I learned more than I ever wanted to know about people like George Washington, Alexander Gram Bell, Henry Ford, etc than I did anyone else in world history. So it should come as no surprise that I didnt really get a proper education on say the kings and queens of England until I took world history in college. It was then and only then I realized how brief and poor my single year on world history was in high school.Another thing Ive noticed through the years while American textbooks dont out and out lie a
 bout history they often leave out things that would tarnish Americas reputation or dimish us as the infallible good guys. One case I can think of is our involvement in World War II. I remember studying the war in North Africa and my American history textbook giving the British a more or less backseat roll in the war effort or the textbooks made it sound that way. It was only some years later when I read more accurate accounts of the war in North Africa that I heard the truth which was rather embarrassing, and I could clearly see why my American history books left some things out.What I found out was that at the beginning of the war most American troops were so fresh, so green, that many of them surrendered and fled the battle field. If it werent from the more seasoned troops from the British the Germans would have kicked our ass and ate our lunch for us. That sort of admission would have probably been too embarrassing to admit so the Department of Education 
 chose not to mention that fact. To make us seem more competent and exceptional than we really were.So when you consider how many Americans think about our country, the way we are taught to think about our country from an early age, it isnt so surprising that many of our comicbook superheroes are mottled after that same American exceptionalism. The idea that truth, justice, and the American way is the right way is something you will find among most American patriots. Many of them have been raised to think that way and dont know anything different.That said, I do think part of your problem is that you are a creative person. Someone who is more entertained by your own ideas than anyone elses. Hello everyone,first of all a very merry Christmas and best wishes for 2015.Since july i have a mac-book pro and i have tried to play koL various times on it. this wasnt a great succes. i can log in and when i am inside the game my mac begins doing very strange. it jumps to the status part of the safari browser and when i want to jump back to the game with command, shift down Arrow it wont allow me to do that. it sais something like no information.when i tab to arrive inside the game the screen looks pretty weird. i even cant go through the screen with the left and right arrows. also not with control, option and one of the arrows.one day i managed to turn on the mobile version of the website, but that doesnt making navigating through the website even better.are here people who can tell me if this sounds familiar? and if there is a method to deal with the website so i can play it still?hope to hear from you soo

Thankfully that sort of thing largey fell out of British education in the seventies, and while we certainly have some holdovers in this country (Ukip, or the Uk independence party definitely have scary moments), its not sort of the national standard the way I believe it is in the states. In terms of Hollywood you are likely correct, everything designed just to crank out more cash rather than be
 cause anybody cares, like endless fast food with no individuality or thought other than maximizing the prophets of the fat idiots in charge. It really is extremely depressing, particularly because there are plenty of occasions in the past where Hollywood could do films with lots of action but more too them. look at the Matrix trilogy,  not perhaps the best film series ever, but certainly something that tried something completely new and setup action tropes that are still remembered today, where as who remembers the previous spider man films? Getting back to super heroes however, much as I largely dislike the genre for how formula it is, I do think it is possible to have a super hero who is in an interesting world, and who is a reasonable characters, its just that most of the hollywood idiots dont agree.

Mostly it is born for pvp, however there are some AI, as they are called, that are bots that appear occasionally. In my opinion they could be increased, because now very often there are at most 1 2 player connected. However, the author of the game, unfortunately, I do not know if it has the will to improve it, such as adding new activities. From Safe Zone there is the possibility to doing activities to increase the level. For now there is one activity that involves jumping on rooftops, where there are several holes. hello,found very huge bug,because i cant stay the unfair advantages,  so hard core players doing CTF mission,   and getting more hundreds med kits, and ammo, so thats for me unfair?so, im explaining,lead a ctf mission,  and try the finish,   and lets check your inventory,   you have 40 million med kits, or ammo,so  maybe aprone can that stop it,  them doing unfair advantages   and have highest med kits, especially   maybe server is could be restore for that
 ,   so, game now for me unplayable, especially hard core players doing that ctf,   so, see, hard core players asking that about restore!  yeah,  dont forget!  why you asking that here!  i guess that guy is have millions of med kits, hahahahahhaha!

This is a problem with the way safari and I think OSX in general handles frames. Other games and websites that use frames will behave similarly. This includes sryth and warriors2. There is no solution I have found sadly, and yeah, the mobile version of KoL is garbage. I should really try and get them to add landmarks and things.

Does anyone have a clue how We're Alive got their zombie sounds?

So, for those of you who listened to the series, Were Alive, you all know how nasty those zombie sound effects were.Im posting this because I am so curious as to how they made noises, or perhaps modified other noises, to create the effects of zombies using calls to alert each other. Im talking about normals and behemoths in a situation when a person or group of people are discovered and they want the others to come as well.If anyone has any ideas about this, I would love to hear them.Best Regards,Luke

Id like that allot too, I dont have many of the sounds my self, but Id be happy enough to assist with any mixing needed, if it even would be...As well as map and campaign creation.I think our best bet is to make it yes, the clone wars era, but not strictly so, if we need to borrow from other timelines and books that dont really stretch the bounds of the knone universe to make a better experience, with ATATs, imperial and scout walkers, storm and clone troupers, sith and jedi, wookys, gamorians, corellians, hutts, I forget what jango and boba fets people are called, etc. Repeating blaster rifles and pistols, light sabers, bow casters and thermal detonators, battle droids, super battle droids, droideckas, speeders and speeder bikes, x-wings, y-wings, tie fighters, gunboats, etc.Any combination of those would be good,a long with different races so we can pit factions from all over the timeline against eac
 h other, Wikipedia and associated wikis can help with specifics, I realize that Im talking about a large project but I think its worth it in the end, but well need a few people together on this.I also think that making ships with weapons wouldnt be too hard, obviously, we dont have space, and we do need to seperate ground, air, and space, but I think water is being worked on, so we could talk to sound mud about it, resources will also be tricky I think, well need to replace them, I mean, the Blitzkrieg mod manages it, but only ruffly, and, I do suppose that making ships only be able to hit other ships would be basically impossible, so we should probably go with seperit space and ground attack maps, which, you know, is fine by me, its allot to handle all at once anyway, and we do have campaigns if we want to make propper lead ups to ground combat.I wish this modding had better documentation and wasnt so h
 eavy on code so that we could get more people working on this, sure the rules and AI arent so hard to figure out, the sound file structure isnt so bad and map making and campaigns are time consuming but easy to pick up, even styles isnt all that bad, but the actual modding?

That, according to the producer, was just him yelling into a tupperware container, with a bunch of reverb added, which sounds about right, and yes, that sound really is awesome, it probably took him quite a few times to get it just right.Most of the growls them selves are from sound ideas and Hollywood Edge libraries, just like Swamp, most notably Sound Ideas Monsters and Creatures, Hollywood Edges evil FX, disk 4: - Zombies, Sound Ideas 2000 series extras, and possibly blast wave fx, the Zombpocolips.The way they make most of those for those libraries, as well as for movies, games, audio dramas, etc, is usually someone making a weird ass sound with their own voice that they think will sound scary, then, if needed, changing pitch, adding more clips, applying filters, and thats about it.Sometimes preexisting recordings of animals are used, but humans usually do a better job, for instance, the guy that did most of the zombie sounds for lef
 t for dead, didnt even need any additional processing on most of his voice recordings, just volume adjustments and smoothing to fit with the rest.

To fill in the last piece:The address exposed publicly to the internet actually doesnt belong to your computer, it belongs to your router. This has to do with the fact that, as it turns out, 4 billion IP addresses is actually not enough for the world. When your computer makes a connection, your router invisibly and magically assigns any incoming packets from the thing to which you connected to your machine. When something tries to connect in, it hits your router-which, because nothing has gone out to that address, doesnt know which computer to send it through to. The details are more complex and Id have to look some of them up, but this is in essence correct. We call this NAT or network address translation.What happens with static IPs on your machine is the same as what happens to your router on the public internet. In both cases, you lease the IP address. At some time in the future, usually a coup
 le days, your lease expires and your router gets a new public IP from the internet provider. This is also what happens with your computer, save that in this case its the router thats leasing. Since we have NAT, your computer is never connected directly save in some special cases with routers offering really advanced features.In the case of the public internet, you get a static IP address by buying it. In the case of your router, you set it up for your personal computer. But these are still different addresses. The reason you have to do it for your computer is that the routers port forwarding table doesnt actually know which computer is yours. You say If you see a connection on port 4000 and nothing connected out, then send it to the computer at IP address foo. But if you wake up one morning and your printer got IP address foo, something which is more than possible, too bad-things are now trying to co
 nnect to your printer instead. To this end, we reserve some space (never assign IP address in this range on the router) and tell the computers to individually take specific ones (I know that this address is free because I did it manually, so go ahead and skip all that negotiating for me and just take it). If you do both of these things, your computer is locked to the same address, nothing else can ever take that address, and thus the port forwarding tables always forward to the right machine no matter how many times you power it on and off or whatever.The dynamic DNS services mentioned above run a piece of software on your computer which connects to a server. When it does, the server now knows what your public IP address is and can update the entries automatically. Given how popular gaming is, your isp is probably not happy to see these services, but theres not anything they can do about it.If youre wondering why this is so complicated
 , its legacy. When the internet was first designed, people thought wed just be able to give every device in the world its own unique and public address and surely a 4-byte value was enough? Unfortunately, the need for IP addresses was drastically underestimated. This is why we have IPV6-a new scheme that would basically let you uniquely assign an IP to every square inch on the surface of the earth many times over and still have a few hundred trillion to spare. Perhaps in my lifetime well see the end of all this. Im thinking probably 30-50 years for the legacy to get replaced. For the record, purchasing IPs is no longer possible, as weve actually sold them all. And yes, quite a bit of money was involved in that, especially once people realized theyre a really limited resource after all.

Hi there Danny, karate25 is my username on here, and Ive played the alpha version of deathmatch, and I have to tell you, that youve got all of the makings of a virtual world on your hands if you do it right. Id like to talk with you if possible off forum because Ive got lots of ideas that you could incorporate into deathmatch to make it a virtual world for the blind. Also, Ive tried downloading and playing the game, and jaws really doesnt seem to work well. When I pull up the game, I hear the ambiance, and when I move the arrows up and down, I hear the beeps, but no speech. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I havent been on swamp for a year, and I like many of the new things added. the new lms maps gives a great verriety when wanting to do last man stuff instead of the town map. And the defender missions are great for survival test. As well, the new method for warehouse missions are great for a laugh too when setting some unique settings. However, I barely have fun in ctf missions anymore. Sometimes we get a battle where things even out as oddly enough player stat carry over. So people are awkwardly being pelted with a full clip of ammo and still running, to then get hit by a sniper form afar. hen we have jackasses who seem to have infinite ammo from a purchase and make degrading remarks because it seems they get the weapons they need quickly without even moving, and killing people in a few hits form a pistol, when it takes an bunch of minigun shots to drop them. Something is really realy off with a few c
 ertain players in this mode and it makes the entire thing miserable to play when you run into those players.  Sure maybe setting the game to even stats out at the end would help, but the times someones sat at one spot at the beginning with what sound slike an ak47 for 30 minutes from the start gets suspicious fast. but other than that, when fights are not stupid, they are fun. And so are the other missions. Everything that has been added has been very fun and I hope you keep up the good work...or polish off the rest of the work.

I go back and forth on points and powerful weapons in CTF. Having played it for a few days, I have to say that I, as a level 136, currently like having points count and powerful weapons available for looting. Players can use points to max out speed, then concentrate on health (so they can survive longer barrages), or Handgun Mastery, so their Glock does more damage, or on a hunting rifle... It becomes, as Aprone said it would, part of the strategy. As to the AK or Vulcan, its no fun when the other guys have them, but when your team does, its awesome. You then have to figure out a way of taking out the guy with the vulcan so he loses it, or making him use up his ammo.The only problem with this is when matches are uneven. Perhaps a system could be put in place that alerts you if most of the players in the mission you want to join are x levels higher. That way, a level 50 doesnt get thrown in with five people level 400 or above.

One thin about games, especially fighting games. Never judge them based on reviews... many of the games released nowadays are reviewed simply on how packed full of content they are or how fancy they look. Especially in the area of fighting games, funand the way the game is played is what matters.. Street Fighter IV is the most successful fighting game of this generation. Ultra Street Fighter IV is still being played, a sign of how long lasting this game is... its been five years and SFIV and all its upgrades are still strong. MK and Injustice are good games as well. But never judge fighting games off of reviews, look up videos and decide for yourself.

Just as a note routers are also used because they provide a single point of access for security purposes, and because it generally just makes things easier when you have a local internal network that also needs to be connected to the internet. Its the same kind of reasons companies use with regard to internal phone systems between departments and offices which also let you access an outside line. I dont think were going to see the end of routers any time soon, even for home environments and even if the internet of things becomes a reality.You dont always have to change your computers settings to have a static internal IP, both routers Ive used have had the ability to enter your computers MAC address and link a reserved IP to it so the routers DHCP always gives that device the specified IP. For clarity a MAC address is nothing to do with apple, its an address linked to your physical network adapter used to ide
 ntify devices when IP addresses arent suitable or havent been assigned yet.Just be aware some ISPs have conditions which involve the running of servers. If youre just running a game server you should be fine but if you have a permanantly running server with frequent usage from the outside the ISP may accuse you of using your connection for business purposes or something similar.

Or you know, dont give players 11 medikits at the start, and making being a guardian impossible without leaving the base. I find the points thing making the game oddly unbalanced. especially when people oddly get their favorite weapons at the start. As well, for those who cant spread point sthat far yet, the ctf matches are a joke where players just kill other people in one 2 hits no matter the hp.  Alos having the vokcan or ak47 is not nice when the other player can survive the entire burst and kill you in a few hits with a marlin.  Tres a reason why a lot of fps pvp stuff dont include damage increases in infinite ammounts like this. normally the perks are just weapon attatchments to avoid being heard or better movement skills. not 100 hp and 2 damge on a weapon. Its far more rewarding trying to survive with 100% hp or 200 if you want to change defaults at the miss
 ion, and be able to have the pistols not take 1000 shots to kill one guy. The fact 4 players firing at me did not hurt me, but one dude with one-2 shots from an acr killing makes the entire thing not worth playing. Also the mysterious people who somehow pullout 20 minutes worth of ammo near the same location an always grabbing their usual gun at every muach makes everything feel suspicious at many points. Actually I dont even remember grabbing ammo as one of my item drops very often, just weapons.t I had a lot more fun with Defend missions. Not like frantically staying alive till the end. That Is fun when swarmed and trying to inch out a bit longer.
