@pitermach, I've heard good things about fairytale. @Blindncool, I definitely approve of startrek tng and especially doctor who (well so long as it doesn't involve Steven moffat ). Well as for me, I do have something of a rather odd announcement this morning, but sinse it's now sort of official I should say something. People have probably noticed that my mind hasn't exactly been on games lately, indeed lots of stuff has come out from pawprints to danger on the wheel that i just haven't played much at all. This is because of a rather major change in my life recently. A change that takes the form of a very wonderful person, (and an incredibly good soprano). "girlfriend" isn't really a term I'd use (sinse I've had a lot of female friends), but I will say we love each other, which makes first time for me, 
 she's even not bothered about my genophobia, or rather is quite prepared to take things gently. She reads probably as much as I do (is a big Sanderson and Robbert Jordan fan), and to say we are friends is putting it mildly, sinse it's remarkable how much we have in common. Ironically, she actually is blind, (which surprised me sinse I wouldn't have assumed I'd have felt this way about another blind person), indeed though she's never particularly run into audiogames I know at least one person on this forum has spoken to her previously, although she's extremely compitant.We're taking things fairly slowly as I said, sinse her situation at the moment is a little delicate for various reasons, but assuming things work out will probably attempt living together at some point next year,  and perhaps more, though we're trying to not get ahead of ourselves too far. She's certainly in favour of trying games out, indeed 
 as someone who reads she'll probably appreciate some of the cog/hg stuf, as well as other gamebooks, though hay having separate interests is a good thing anyway. I'd probably better stop this post before I go and say something horribly cliched, but yes, I admit I'm fairly stunned by this, and it probably explains why I find it a little difficult to concentrate on survivers of a plane crash in the snow or dodging nasty hazards in my super speedy car .

tips for running topspeed

Hi.Some years ago we used to run top speed and had very fun.I've decided to try it out again.But I've got problems.When I must steer the car either to the left and right it gets too slow.I Always crash.I don't Think I had that problem Before.Any ideas?I've tried and tried, and now I'm very frustrated.

I don't get redirected to steam or anything, after logging in be It after having created a new account or using a existing account to do so, I'm shown the game I want to buy, a few fields to enter credit card details and that's it.Here is what I do. I visit the game page press enter on the button that says buy it now for $2.99, it asks me for a email, after I enter that a new page loads asking me if I already have a choice of game password, or I don't or have I forgotten. chooseing the second radio button which says new account or some such will allow you to create a account with a password,after which a page like the one I get should appear for you to make the purchasegrryf

Moderation! @Garret, as I said previously, stop with the accusations and insults. If you have a problem, try to sort it out like adults not throw around childish "he did this", "no I didn't", "she did that" type of responses. The place for such is the school playground, not a forum for adults.@Terminator, this is an official warning. as you said yourself, let this be an end to this. Constantly wanting the last word and responding with "I have more intelligence than you" and the like is definitely going into the realms of insult, as it says in the faq, if someone insults you, do not insult them back, report the post. As I said, I don't care about this sorded little quarrel, so long as it doesn't affect the forum. I grabbed alot of the books that was brought up in this topic on bookshare. I will check bard when ever it comes back up. I am sure there is more out there, but I should go ahead and dip my toe in the stream as it were. I am thinking that I need to provide more info to get homed in on the books that I would like. I am tite with money, and don't like to buy something I don't even know if I would like. LOL. I know some of the books talked about here is on ITunes. I even went over to lulu and spent four US dollars on the falcon banner. So far, that one is ok. I haven't got to the moon explosion yet though. I can tell you this though, the podcasts on this book doesn't really bring across good description of the different ships in the book. I do wonder though, do they make it back to earth? Will they ever come up with some super secret that lead men kind to the next step on the evolution chain? If so, is it kept a secret? LOL. I am asuming that the action never ends
 . LOL. I should dip in to some of these other books that I just got from bookshare yesterday and see if they are werth while...

@Wastelander, I do like books for the extra background and info, it's just I've not found any practical uses for them yet, but hay nobody said everything in game needs to be practical. I am quite into challenge, and I do realize unfareness is a point of the wastes, however when I'm having to run away from most encounters or constantly get groups of monsters with x hundred or thousand hp menacing me with no way out it doesn't get too interesting, which is why I suggest just tweaking things to make sure you have at least some vague chance, ie, letting you always get a level 1 region in choice up to character level 10 so that your not basicaly just hitting 3 in every single battle time after time and die by being unlucky as has happened to me in a few of the last few games.Slavery will be fun I think,  or not as the case may be, but you see my point, not knowing whether you'd end up in a pit fight, working in a mine or a slave run farm or as 
 someone's house slave, sacrificed to a cult deity or something worse would make things nicely uncertain.

I realise times have changed, but I'd actually be tempted to buy from the CoG website if the game stored your state and allowed you to play connected with the server doing the processing, so you could play from devices with limited or no _javascript_ support. I know, running applications in the browser is just the in thing to do, but it seems counterintuitive to me that one requires access to a web page if one is not then going to stay connected. In fact the game data is loaded and interpreted, so you can disconnect and then continue playing, but you need _javascript_ and a modern browser to do it. Might as well just buy the packaged app if that's going to be what you get anyway. Still, kudos to CoG for making use of _javascript_ in a way that doesn't make me want to puke.

I pretty much agree with what is said here. One small correction though. The only game that I know with 5.1 surround sound is shades of doom v2.0. If all games that uses the GMA game engine uses the latest should be ok in that department. From the best I can tell, the only game that really might depend on speed in the like is TDV. Ok ok ok, TDV also uses surround sound.

Hi. As I used to play [[wow]] a few years ago with my sighted brothers I am very interested in finding out how accessible it can be made. I remember some parts were accessible through the use of macros, for example, joining dungeons and battlegrounds. Combat is also easy to perform because the player chooses which spells to bind to keys. However, many parts were inaccessible without sight, like creating characters, using the auction house, professions, binding spells to keys and the map. If most of the game becomes accessible I will definitely be rejoining [[wow]]. @blindwarcraft Have you contacted Blizzard to find out if they can offer support in creating accessibility?

It's been a while since I did this, but the priests have a few skills that allow you to attack targets in surrounding squares, I'm pretty sure there was one that did area damage. So you should be able to clear a path easily enough.

Hello, so the ports that you need to open is 25560. Now, if you want to fix the errors go onto the map where the error is on where that travel point is and type the following: /delline 10 And there you go, as for the stadium, I am not sure as I have to play with my server a little bit more to see. I'm actually running my server on a Linux VPS with wine installed so things might be a little bit different. As for people making themselves admins, Here what you need to do. in the chars folder, you should see  accounts lade out in directories. For example, if you have an account named, "stuff" then it will show up as a sub directory under the chars folder. Now, when you go into the account folder you should see different things such as "y.usr" and some other files that end in that extension. You need to create the rank.usr and put it into the account folder where you want to be admin. In the rank.usr file, just type "4" without the quotes, save a
 nd exit and if you are in notepad, save under all files, and put in the file name edit box, "rank.usr" and hit save. Now, look for that file and just copy and paist into the /chars/AccountName folder and you should be good to go. Let me know if you all have any more questions with this process. For all of you who are thinking about hosting this on a VPS make sure that all folder and file permissions are set right, because if they are not, your account will not be created even though the game said that it has been created. Well, I apologize if you believe this is an insult, but I see nothing having anything to do with insulting someone on here. As for Mike, information about my brother, is to be kept off the forum. It offends me that you want to put my personal life on the forum and claim I'm putting your personal info on here when I have done no such thing. These, dark, were things I threatened this person on over Skype, he shouldn't have put them here. I am, as of now, removing all messages I've ever sent to him on Skype so he can not hold me in exposure on this forum. emm, nice updade, yeah,  i agree with burak  the bug  with doors with custom sounds still exists.sometime if i put  the custom sound sorse  in the map, it will not loop, it will play once and the sound is stop and the bug at the special door need to be fix, but you don't need to hurry though , well, can't wait untill next updade!

A bug report, a few suggestions, and a bunch of questions:bug:While harvesting an oasis, the name of the plant changed (though the items I picked up did not). Not quite sure exactly what happened or what I did to cause it, sorry. May have something to do with inventory or eating a plant while at the oasis.Suggestions:It'd be really nice if we could get items condensed in the inventory, something like "death skeletal shroom (15)" (yes, that's the plant I'm harvesting in the other window) instead of 15 different listings for the same item. Its rather frustrating to page through numerous pages of info just to find one random item in the mess. What would be perfect is some kind of categorical listing - a selection to view weapons, food, plants, misc etc, followed by a listing of all the items you have of that type.Is there any chance of getting a plant lore skill of some sort, that would give us some info about the plants we'
 re viewing? What I'm in visioning is a skill with several "levels", each of which would cost several points to pass. The first level (1-5 maybe?) would give you info like "this plant affects health", the next would say something like "this plant will probably heal", and the third would say "this plant heals for 12". Of course, you could probably add more tears into it if you wanted - steadily shrinking the random margin of error in the report, or any other way you can think of to make it work.It might be a good idea to have trader damage/health (and maybe guard strength/health) scale along with the player's level a bit. I do like feeling way overpowered, but from a balance perspective we probably shouldn't just be slaughtering every single trader and stealing their money/items. The rip off ones absolutely, but not all of them.questions/shaky suggestions:is it still at all possible to find the really powerful we

Hi.Well I'll be honest I hate windows 8, 10, and windows phones. I will stick to windows 7 for as long as possible.That said I don't know of anyone working on windows phone games. You could probably play muds on windows phones but as far as I know that's about all for now accept for the 2 games you mentioned.I'm actually surprised that aprone or ghorthalon haven't gotten into building windows phone games this kind of stuff is right up there alley.

Hay Wastelander, I really like the new update.A few things I feel would make the game better.Inventory access needs to be doable from anywhere.I got to a town and couldn't scrap one of my weapons to repair my current one.I've noticed that items have values, but I can't sell any of them in towns?there needs to be a perk for storms like there is for mountaineiring.A bug; When my joyous perk kicked in, the region level didn't drop.

@Keyisful, mines are totally whacked at the moment. You can mine by hammering space like a demon and then hitting escape, but it's the biggest exploit ever, personally I'm staying away from mines until Wastelander gets around to fixing them properly, which I hope will also include access changes as well.

You don't get the hook until you complete 8-4.For 7-2, you need to plan ahead. I would say to use the object viewer until you know where all the crystals are, and look around with the camera, or try and fail a few times, until you can figure out which path will let you collect all of them.

the inventory stack is what i've suggested in the above post as well. and i'm certainly agree in every point.and i as well, can confirm that the plant bug does exist for real. you get the option to harvest this, but what you get is the other one didn't even mentioned. last time i got the option to get the fire something cactus, but got some kind of negative max hp root.

Not quite sure exactly what happened or what I did to cause it, sorry. May have something to do with inventory or eating a plant while at the oasis. edit: After finding another oasis, it looks like the item displayed on the screen (harvest x) just doesn't match the name of the item you actually get.It looks like time is passing when moving between a "option screen" and your inventory. This means free heals for those of us with regeneration, infinit hp for those of us with toughening, and free levels for those of us with braingrowth/bloat brain.Suggestions:It'd be really nice if we could get items condensed in the inventory, something like "death skeletal shroom (15)" (yes, that's t
 he plant I'm harvesting in the other window) instead of 15 different listings for the same item. Its rather frustrating to page through numerous pages of info just to find one random item in the mess. What would be perfect is some kind of categorical listing - a selection to view weapons, food, plants, misc etc, followed by a listing of all the items you have of that type.Is there any chance of getting a plant lore skill of some sort, that would give us some info about the plants we're viewing? What I'm in visioning is a skill with several "levels", each of which would cost several points to pass. The first level (1-5 maybe?) would give you info like "this plant affects health", the next would say something like "this plant will probably heal", and the third would say "this plant heals for 12". Of course, you could probably add more tears into it if you wanted - steadily shrinking the random margin of error in the report, 
 or any other way you can think of to make it work.It might be a good idea to have trader damage/health (and maybe guard strength/health) scale along with the player's level a bit. I do like feeling way overpowered, but from a balance perspective we probably shouldn't just be slaughtering every single trader and stealing their money/items. The rip off ones absolutely, but not all of them.questions/shaky suggestions:is it still at all possible to find the really powerful weapons we used to be able to get from random encounters, or are those store only now (they're super expensive)?Is there any use for ore or coal, beyond selling them at mines? I tend to get a lot from nomads or dungeons, and have nothing to do with it.Are there any plans to let the player sell items? Scrap is a great one, but ammo/lock picks/etc would also be great. Not quite sure what selling food/other inventory items would entail in the code. If you really wanted, you co

Hi folks,Some of you might know me as one of the guys behind Accessible Apps, the company which brings you Chicken Nugget, the most powerful and popular Twitter client for Windows, as well as other awesome software.Today I'm writing to introduce you to one of the things I have been working on for a bit, an audio single-player fps engine.Some of the features that I've got working so far:Full HRTF-enabled multidimensional audio, made possible by the powerful Libaudioverse library.Integration with an off-the-shelf physics engine for a realistic environment incorporating destructable objects and other complex physical behaviors. Think of grenades being able to bounce off walls and similar.Automatic map generation from a simple declarative language. In particular I'm using YAML, an easy language for describing data structures and relationships for creating templates which I feed into my map generator, which then produces full levels
 .Multiple input methods: Currently both keyboard and mouse are supported. I feel that the mouse has been demonstrated as a very useful input device for audio games.Audio occlusion: Physical items in the game world, including walls, dampen audio but do not necessarily completely cut it off. This means you can hear stuff in other rooms, and when you approach an open exit, the sounds become more noticeable. This is also true if, for instance, an npc is behind a piece of equipment or shelving.Room-dependent reverb: Again relying on the powerful Libaudioverse library, different rooms will have different reverberation characteristics. Small rooms sound small, and the inverse is also true.I have created a minimal playable level to showcase what I've got so far, and to solicit feedback. I'm extremely interested in what the community has to say, and would like to involve you all in the process as I create something marketable.Currently the demo runs

I was previously trying to use convolutional impulse responses for the reverb, and that did not run on several peoples' computers. I believe the new computational reverb will work better, but I have also heard reports of random freezing and crashing depending on display drivers and other random things. I've done my best, but let me know what issues you come across.Notes on development:As I mentioned, a lot of this is made possible by Camlorn's powerful Libaudioverse library (which I would link to, but the forum is telling me I may only have 1 link in this post.)  ccessible Apps is written in Python.I often see questions about what language to learn, or if Python is the right language on this forum, and always restrain myself from jumping in as a Python fanboy when I see people start suggesting BGT or other similarly hobbled languages. I do feel it worth noting that this is just under 2000 lines of code written in under two months with other projects taking a majority of my time, and most of this is a direct result of both Python's expressiveness and immense and thriving ecosystem.I chose YML to represent input to the map generator because it fit my mental model and procedural map generation fits well into the single developer trying to build a large complex game situation I find myself in. But I am extremely interested in working on infrastructure for nonrandom maps which could really highlight the power of the environmental audio engine with familiar environments, for instance a supermarket or gymnasium. This will require 
 further development.There's a lot of quick and dirty prototype stuff in the game. For instance the escape key pauses the world, useful for debugging, but there's no unpausing. escape twice exits. Interesting we're discussing sf, sinse Next up and currently on my victor I've got Embassy town by China mieville to read. I absolutely adored! his steampunk dark fantasy perdido street station (a book I'd recommend to anyone), and if Embassy town his sf offering is half as good it'll be amazing, and I'm informed by friends of mine it certainly is. Of course, in a few posts when I've read the thing I might come back to this ttopic and curse wrotten, but I don't believe so given Mieville's reputation .@Cw and Alex, as far as terminology goes, well it's something of a moveable feast, but I personally would use the term "science fiction" or authors who's works are possible within scientific principles or who specifically explore the consequences of scientific or social ideas and science fantasy for the likes
  of starwars where things are impossible and have what is basically magic, despite all the spaceships etc. This is of course a sliding scale and also changes according to what is scientifically known, but personally which a book is doesn't bother me so long as it's a good story, indeed I'll confess that while I enjoy the interlectual puzzles of really hard, very factual science fiction writers like Clarke or Asimov, I do occasionally find them rather lacking in personality and character.@Guitarman, I'll have to look up some of those myself, especially this expanse series. Peter F Hamilton I have not read as yet but I did recently pick up his nightsdawn books and plan to give them a go, glad for the recommendation. [[wow]], I am amazed I forgot Ian M Banks Culture series sinse I read a couple of them not long ago. Very, very awesome, very artistic and beautiful in the writing though by no means easy. Consider Phlebas I liked for the action and suspens
 e and what not but found the ending down right disappointing, (I know that was part of Bank's point but it did feel unsatisfying). Player of games however I absolutely loved! (well you know, me and games ). Invertions I read a long time ago and enjoyed very much, also look to windward, though I plan to continue the series in chronological order with use of weapons. For reference the reading order is consider Phlebas, Player of games, Use of weapons, state of the art, excession, Invertions, Look to windward, and lastly matter. Ian M banks has also written the stand alone Against a dark background which is extremely good if you like books which are both very thoughtful and also contain a lot of action. The book may or may not take place in the culture universe (sinse it is all set on one alien planet which exists behind a dust cloud). I can highly recommend
  George R r Martin's dying of the light as well, indeed I want to review that one for fantasybookreview.co.uk, and would love to read more of his sf stuff. One series which nobody has mentioned yet is Frank Herbert's dune, (and I mean Frank Herbert sinse apparently thecontinuations by his son are pretty so so ). They're extremely difficult books, and I don't like the way Herbert can't write casual conversation or dialogue (it's hard to imagine anyone on dune saying "good morning" or "could I have a coffee" without a massive political subtext), but the series are classics for a reason. The ideas are amazing, as is the imagery and style of the thing. I'd certainly recommend at least the first three, Dune, Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. After that things get a wee bit squiffy, though it is quite some time sinse I last read them. Lastly, Cw, have you checked out the red dwarf books by Rob Grant and doug 
 nailer? I was reviewing these recently for fantasybookreview.co.uk, and one of the things that struck me when I reread them is that though they are! comedy books, the  actual space story is a pretty awesome one taking in some great ideas and concepts with of course the amazing characters that we know and love. Faster than light travel, entering a black hole, an entire planet used as a dump, artificial life etc. Very easy to read (especially sinse they're hilariously funny), but also awesomely good stories, and definitely available in audio with some fine readings by Chris barry and Craig charlese. Even if you don't know anything about the British Sf comedy series Red dwarf, the books are still fine sinse they tell the story from the beginning. they are as I said by Rob Grant and Doug Naler, and the books are  Infinity favours careful drivers, and better than life. For the third book each of the two authors wrote their own third volume which take the s
 tory in different directions. naler wrote a third book called Last Human, (which is to my mind the superior one), and Grant wrote one called backwards, which is fun but not imho up to the others. either way for more wofflings check out my reviews on fantasybookreview.co.uk, sinse I've reviewed the first two red dwarf novels and will be doing the last two likely this month.

@Alfredo: The current tdv2 is in the process of being sold. At present, Terminator is interested in buying the rights. Also to @Munawar, I talked to Aaron Baker about bpc selling the rights, asked him if he's interested, and he said he'll consider it. So, there might be another buyer. This guy's of age I know that for sure. I'm not sure whether Terminator's 18 or older, I"m just asking because, while I really don't have much of a legal background over these kinds of transfers, I'd assume that person would have to be 18 to make commercial negotiations, correct me if I'm wrong. But anyway, to everyone else, that's the status of tdv at the moment.

I do have to say that the randomness of the game usually doesn't stack up in my favor. I usually get hit with really high numbers of tough enemies that I have to escape and, often, I don't, which is sad. I think my best character was level 8, but even with a crazy powerful weapon, storms and mountains can wreck you. Very sad.

Hi.Well strictly speaking, at minimum with today's technology.an i5 duel core, with 4gb ram, win7 32 bit, and a hard drive, with a not shared 1gb video card like an amd radion will work.Other configurations may work to but I havn't had much less to do with those of late.Other units as far back as a 2ghz single or 1ghz single could play games with xp.Remember you need to fit in your os, sapi, your reader and all the other software before you fit your game in.If you are playing offline games mostly, a good configuration would be.windows xp running on a pentium 4 2.0ghz, 1gb ram, and 80 gb hard drive.That would work.However no twitter, no net, no security software, all that is running should be windows, no high quality sapi synths either.I would recomend at least 4gb  for a normal system with net.Idealy you should double that to 8gb, at least and 64 bit though I have never needed to.Gaming accesser
 y wise I have always wanted a gaming keyboard for the durability and ffeel.I must say that a gaming mouse is essentual, I have a logitech mx518 and its good.You don't need the logitech software installed , just the  gaming mouse itself it should be round 30 bucks.Other than that unless you want a gamepad maybe an xbox controler or something I guess, the only thing really needed is a pair of good sets zenheiser hd201s or higher is ok though remember that some models are a bit heavier than others.I know at guys sells aftershock bone induction units and they may be all one needs.Avoid your 10 buck light and cheap because you don't get the full range of sound.

So, sometimes I give half of my items or less to other players, and the rest of my items disappears.Previously I had not reported this because items that lost, were not as important but... well, This time I lost many important items like my 4 pieces of Apronic armor. (Apronic Vest, Apronic Helmet, Apronic Shoulder pads and Apronic Belt) and my title weapons. This bug happened with my char Glein.I did not lose everything as on other occasions, but ... I ... y
