Every dev starts with practice games, in deed some devs start with either guess the number or trivia or even scoreless simon type games, so don't beat up on yourself for your first game being a simple one. Do you think the dev of adventure at c just went off coding mega mazes, his first game, right away? Absolutely not. While not publically, he most likely started off with some practice games. Not all devs want to post their practice games to the public. Starting off with simple games, is, ok. I repeat, it is. In fact, as I said earlier, not everyone starts up with even something like that. In deed, I started off with stupid yes/no trivia games, and while they were rediculously simple, they did help me in a way, I sup

THey program one, two, to several practice games, slowly building up. For example, a guess the humber to start off, then building up to a simple shooter, then maybe a sidescroller prototype kinda thing, etc. Streets of Chaos, your second game combined with Lucas, well, that game was actually pretty nice. Another idea I had but I don't know if it would be possible, could we get the ability to put a colon after someones name in the unbanables file, followed by a number to lock their rank? For example, I might write: "stargate:2". This would stop stargate from being banned, and locking his rank as a builder. I feel that in this way, the server host has true controll over ranks and who shouldn't ever be banned.Thanks for reading.

mason gave me permission to continue it last night, but after seeing these posts, I don't know if I want to, i'll just get hated like I always do. And the dev rank was caused because of roel here. THe switch is definitely being edited, and anybody who tries to use it will be autobanned. Rank 5 players will be set to rank 1... Fuck it! just fucking clear your chars folders, you can keep it around because I am going to continue this source code after fixing some things. And here's why the downloader doesn't work, it downloaded the update.exe file for the autoupdater, not the actual zip. The game is huge now, and mason disabled the autoupdater. i could make the downloader download the zip, or reenable the autoupdater if you want, but have fun downloading 33MB with BGT downloader! Let's take a vote. Up should be brought back. Yes or no, and why do you think this. you have until 10:00PM central standard time. After taht my votes wil be counted and evaluated.

Some suggestions, hope it helps:1. Maybe you don't need to test this. The game will act weird, that's all. A separate script could test the map without taking time each time you load the map, or the map maker will test his map anyway.2. About the algorithm to test the map, if the rectangles are oriented the same (not with different angles), and if every room will be a rectangle, then use the collision detection mentioned by CAE_Jones.3. Socheat, if you are wondering where to get Chipspeech itself, you can find it on Plogue's website. But, as americandad2005 pointed out, it is not accessible. It doesn't work like Vocaloid, at least, the lyric system doesn't. If you don't know what I mean, let's take the phrase "All your base are belong to us", which is one of the preset lyrics that you can use in the program. In Vocaloid, if you were to put it in a song, with a seperation between the word belong, you'd go:all your base are be- long to us.But in Chipspeech, each sylable advances with every MIDI note triggered, so you can't put dashes between words in order to seperate them. Not to mention that you can't just feed it a midi and you enter the lyrics manually since it's a VST, as far as I know, though I may be wrong on that so don't take my word for it. If you do want to seperate words like Vocaloid, the notes must be connected in the sequence. 
 What I mean is, the DAW, or Digital Audio Workstation, you want to work with, must have a piano role for the VST to work so that it can be routed to it. Otherwise, it won't work. Back to what I was saying, you must connect the notes, so as long as the notes are visually connected in some way in the piano role, the sylables will advance. Sorry if this isn't worded right, I couldn't find a way to word it so that it makes it easy. The Chipspeech VSTaccepts input in both English and Japanese, which is a plus, in my opinion. And yes, the voices included, which are based on vintage speech synthesizers such as the IBM 704, Votrax SC01, DECtalk, the TMS5200 used in the TI series of calculators for various cartridges, the TSIS4001A I think it's called, the SP0256 AL2, the VOSIM software, have a very diverse set of parameters. It would be interesting to hear what raygrote comes up with when using Chipspeech in the updated album if it ever comes out.

Well true. I might also just shutdown this server entirely. It might also have helped if the dev command you put into the chatbox did not get stored in the logs for anyone to see. I've got a player on the server who figured out the command. Not only that, he's using eloquence crashwords as names. When I try to ban him or something, it says my message contains forbidden words. O well. The dev rank was just there to get abused I guess.

And second, I'm an Arab, I enjoy Playroom's games so much even though I'm not logging in too much this period, but your talk about Arabs was too generalized, as if you're talking about all those 350 million Arabs living on this planet. Try to be specific, not all Arabs spam, not all Arabs like sexe, not all Arabs are doing what you say. You should know that there are too many blind under-18 Arabs creating accounts on PR, which are causing problems to everyone, including me and many friends of mine, but these can be avoided by a simple block or report. I won't say I'm hating Playroom, I'm simply fed up with this Arab kids who follow me wherever I go, and due to what I've heard and seen about the unfare bans. hi all,i would have one question, or just wondering. would it be possible, to make - and if anyone would make, an accessible rubiks cube game for computers, too? there are plenty java, and Flash based ones. then there is the paid one for iPhone (cubealone), which is accessible too. but nothing accessible for computers... i have two various physical cubes, one regular, with those embossed shapes on each side, and one mirror cube. and would like a version for pc, maybe,? or its just a bad idea? who knows...regards,M.

I am now watching these forums because I've gotten many separate inquiries about Libaudioverse; you will have nightly builds within the week, mostly because these have been along the lines of "How do I build it?".It can't be fully bound to BGT, but it does sound much, much better.  The OpenALSoft HRTF makes some sacrifices because it was written in 2002.  The metallic quality doesn't exist in Libaudioverse.  Nor does the various problems with Hrtf randomly not working for some people because of sample rate issues, even moreso if you forget to bundle the 5 or 6 hrtf files and point Camlorn_audio at them correctly.  It also does a lot more in the direction of synthesis and provides an occlusion model and a bunch of tools you can use to build your own effects from scratch.Your problems with binding it to BGT are simple and unfixable by any of us: getting objects to properly garbage collect requires using a callback that may be 
 called from any thread and, unless BGT has something I don't know about, this will bring BGT crashing down very, very hard.  If you want to use Libaudioverse with BGT, you'll need to write a thin wrapper over the C API and avoid anything that uses callbacks or events, but otherwise it's fine.  You just can't abstract it to be a nice API in BGT because BGT is missing critically important features.  Libaudioverse is designed to be bound, and it assumes a common subset of features that are common in mainstream tools and hides them from you via the bindings.  Building a binding for BGT that is as easy to use as Libaudioverse can be in mainstream tools requires writing an additional C library that exposes it all on one thread, and I'm not going to be the one to do this.Libaudioverse is GPL, and I am currently not able to give exceptions.  Libaudioverse may be commercial, and I haven't done the paperwork for GPL exceptions with 
 a lawyer yet.  The upshot of this is that your code is also covered by the GPL if you use it, and you therefore need to be willing to distribute source code.  I'm not sure at this point if I can pull off a kickstarter, but Libaudioverse needs another year or so of development in order to be finished, rock solid, and have a strong community, and I need to get money for this somehow, even if it's over the next 5-year period as people buy it here and there.  As I don't want to have to support it for the next 10 years of my life, I'm hoping the kickstarter can and will work.  But it's usable for games and the first release will probably happen in the next month.The Github is here.  The Github for camlorn_audio (as well as binaries from me) are all no longer available; the current version of Unspoken now uses Libaudioverse.  I cannot and will not stop you if you have a DLL, 
 I released it under the BSD license and you're following it.

@Nocturnus, despite the fact that I hold administrator status on this forum, and obviously spend a significant amount of time on here, I still get that feeling of disconnection myself. This Especially happens with issues like this one Ghostrider describes sinse they tend to occur as he said among a small subgroup of people over skype and on other places and then bleed onto the forum.This sense of being external to things does actually help as a moderator. @Ghostrider, Steve is correct here. Trolls say anything to get on your whick, no different to some immature kid in the playground saying "your mum has a big bottom" or something similarly infantile, such things just show the intelligence (or rather distinct lack there of), of the people involved. One question however. If this insulting business did not occur on the forum, why are you leaving the forum? I can assure you such insults if they occurred here would definitely not be aloud and you could rep
 ort them, whether by pm or by post, so even if the person who said such is still here, she/he couldn't do such again. Also, there are manifestly a couple of hundred regular posters here, so this forum isn't just the domain of said moron. As I said previously, leave if you wish and feel free to do so, just make sure your doing so for the right reasons and with the right information, sinse disturbing your life and getting you to stop frequenting places on the internet is exactly what those sorts of trolls want.

NVDA not reading certain dialogs in goldwave

This mainly happens with the marker setting option.If you go into edit, markers, and then set, normally it should just read your markers where they are when you reach the edit box.Literally just now, It has stopped doing this. So now when i even try reading it with NVDA plus up, it doesn't read it. Now i have to use the let and right arrow keys to review my selection, which when brushing a click away, that really does tend to slow me down.For the record, goldwave and NVDA worked perfectly without the addon installed, so I am not really wanting to install that.Interesting thing, when I press the home key it reads it perfectly. Its like NVDA isn't able to focus all the way into the edit area initially.Also, I set screenreader mode in the setup and it still doesn't change anything.Thoughts?

Hi Colton,I think this game was a lot of fun to play. However, there were quite a few things wrong with it from the start. First, the aiming system has always given me trouble. In order to attack, I had to take a step in either direction because standing still and using the turning system simply didn't always work. The left shift in combination with the letters a, s, d, and w, was problematic because most of us don't use the left shift key when typing any of these letters to capitalize them in a sentence. So naturally this was quite awkward.Secondly, the leveling system. I said it before and I'll say it again, it was quite crooked. When players leveled up to a high level, they could dominate anyone who was far below them easily. The six war maps that were supposed to separate players into zones according to their levels only worked to a certain extent. However, when a player ventured onto a map like Vlad's house, they were no longer protected from h
 igher-level players. So, this system didn't work out as planned. Instead, an approach similar to RTR could be adopted, where players start out on a map with a knife and maybe a pistol and collect more powerful weapons to be able to take on their enemies. Once a player dies, he would have to start all over again picking up weapons and health items and potions. The other way to go about it is to actually create zones for players of a certain level that no one else could enter. So, maps could be written for specific levels of players, or high-level players could not attack low-level playeers on those maps. This may even things out more. However, I still prefer the approach of RTR when dealing with this matter.Finally, I would like to remind you that this game was worked on quite extensively. Sometimes it broke, but when it was relatively stable, it was a good alternative to RTR and Swamp. As far as continuing work on it, I definitely encourage you to do so, but it will ultim
 ately depend on whether or not you are able to maintain the game consistently and patch up at least some of the security issues  to make people more comfortable logging on.

If he's using BGT, there isn't really a good physics engine available. And most of the simplest engines out there couldn't be linked to BGT very easily (at least not without Philip Bennefall or whoever he hands it over to). The most that could be done would be wrapping something and storing collision information to be retrieved by a polling function, at which point it'd just be easier to use something lower level.

I will have to agree with KeyIsFull and ghost rider on this one. The fact that criticism cannot be taken means that a dev isn't ready to continue with a project like this. If Danny acted this way, DMNB would've been gone long ago, but he continues marching on, despite the difficulties he has faced with troublemakers on the server and on the forum. Same thing for Sam. While there are areas of STW that need some rethinking and improvement, he continues to put out updates and satisfy players. At least he isn't consistently raging against the very people that keep his game a living idea. So, this game may simply have to be scrapped. I wish it didn't have to be this way, but it looks as though we don't see a possibility of it being resurrected.

It is the fault of some people, and I'm not giving any names, of this community all up in arms. You just use string encryption . Lots and lots of string encryption.It's not worth continuing the game though, my vote's a no. You just need to grow up and take security a lot more seriously than you have been doing for, like...well...everything. Hard to hear, but it's true. Aprone's doing it right. Besides the actual security measures, you need to create analysis tools to check out what actually happened to cause a security hole, so you can patch it better. I suggest you spend your time researching that kind of stuff, instead of making online games you'll just be abandoning later.

I do agree the dev switch was a big flaw, I'm with you there that that was just a big load of crap. But I can't exactly store players in the server executable, can I? NO, I can't. I can't use the registry, I apparently can't use files, the passwords were encrypted, I could encrypt more stuff, that wouldn't be a problem. But this is just bullshit. I'm off, have fun with your deleted game, and if you see an update, that means I got off my ass and coded some stuff. But do remember one thing. The next update, will have a secret killswitch that will allow me to disallow launching of the server and client executables if the game isn't supported.

OK, I'v god this answer.If you put your thane to sleep without any value the game removes the thane.  To gain value, either buy an ability on the thane or kill at least one monster.I'v got It and My thanes still alive. Thanks so much!

One of my problems is I ran out of creativity years ago, I can't actually come up with my own ideas for this game. So I'm relying on this community, but by the looks of it, I can't even handle what they say because they show just enough harshness to trigger me. i am a bomb. A tripwire. A... Completely mental, insane, idiotic, stupid, useless, person who just lies there and cries in the dark after shit like this.

Hi,I'm having trouble with the link that Jack provided in post 7 for the DZK games.At first, it would fail about halfway through, that was when I was using Firefox. I got it to complete by using Down them All, but when I went to extract it, 7zip threw a bunch of data errors at me. What's going on?

It's not like I'm mad at him for developing it. I'm just disappointed with how the game has been suddenly abandoned. My thoughts above were supposed to provide feedback regarding game play. I do think that the game play could be improved, but that's no reason to assume I don't wish for the game to go on. I simply stated that the game may have to be scrapped if the developer can't figure out a way to continue with it. However, if Mason, or Colton change their minds, or give the source code to someone else who can continue with it, then they can do so if they wish.

So you can either take this as everyone hating you, or perhaps if you're so inclined, make it your personal goal to blow that person away with a great feature. I used a treadmill at the texas school for the blind, and the buttons were rounded, raised... and it wasn't really menu based either. Not sure exactly what model it was or anything, but I'm sure if you get something like that and put a braille sticker on each of the buttons you'd be fine. I don't think we're to the point of talking exercisse equipment; but when talking exercise bikes come out I'll be one of the first to get one.
