audio 3d maze and crocadile dentist are both from braille soft, or rather were, as the links on the braillesoft site don't actually work. I did actually contact Louis Bryant directly, but since a system crash, even he no longer has them. shame, as would have been an easy way to get audio 3d maze, as I did get crock dentist from someone here. fast and loose was seemingly from Simon Cowan, who I assume was an indipendent developer. thanks to the person who sent that and a couple of others as well. How to create pygame menus

Hi, I have just recently finished taking a python class and I wanted to create an audio game. I have played with pygame and pyaudiogame in the past, so I thought I would start there. I have played with pyaudiogame quite a bit, but I became frustrated with it because it is incomplete. So I am working with just pygame and I wanted to create a menu, but all though I found a lot on the web on the topic I kept getting lost because of the visual aspect that everyone based their code around. So I am working with accessible output and pygame in 2.python 7. I use Jaws and would like to be able to create an accessible menu using pygame, but I need help. Can someone help me?

Maybe.  I haven't used Pygame in a while.  I prefer Pygllet, but that is very much less friendly for new programmers even if it is architecturally better in the long run, and my big thing these days is C++ digital signal processing anyway.Work out how to do the following things in order.  If you have already done some of these, that's fine; if you have trouble, ask because one of the Python people here can probably help:Make accessible output 2 say something.Make a Pygame window appear.Say the pressed key.  Don't worry about modifiers, but if I press a then say a.  This will break some for punctuation, also don't worry about that.  All the screen reader output methods in everything do it without a bunch of extra steps that are not worth it here.Get a counter incrementing and decrementing when you press the arrow keys.  Don't let it go below 0 or past a maximum value that you define.  Ann
 ounce the changes to this counter.Now you're at the point of doing a menu.  I suggest a menu class.  You'll have a list of strings (the options), a run function which starts running a little private Pygame loop and getting keys and incrementing and decrementing the counters.  When enter is pressed, you return the string for the option or the index of the option or whatever.  Alternatively (depending how much you know) you make the list of options a list of tuples where the first item is a string and the second item is a function to call and then call that when the user presses enter.  Whatever you can manage or need is fine.  It's about 30 to 40 lines and it's reusable.And that's it.  If you need, I can type up a class with some functions that you call, but I honestly think working out how to do this yourself is ultimately more helpful.  This is the most basic method, but there are more advanced options.
 sp; Be aware only that this isn't necessarily sufficient forever (but it is for a good while).  This will work for a simple side-scroller where every interaction pauses things; this will not work for an online game where everything has to keep going because you can't pause everyone or where you need to implement something like a Swamp radar.  It's simple but it leads to a lot of code duplication and controls will not be mappable.  Get this far and if you care we can talk about more advanced options.

Hi Mason,I have tested this quite extensively and know this to be a fact, using the o key to voice chat no longer works for some reason. I also just got off the server not too long ago and realized how bad the lag is. When shooting Joseph, it would take a number of seconds before I heard the bullets impact; same is true when receiving messages notifying players that someone has been killed. Hopefully this can be resolved.

Hold on to this, and use your feelings for her to as an extra fuel to keep you going. If you like to play music, use this as an inspiration for your creations. If you prefer writing, go and make your own world, make your ideas into characters, then face them, make them better, try to understand their reasons.I used to transform my issues into characters and sort of put them to use on tabletop rpg matches, to see if I can deal with them in a more introspective way.I could tell you about a really large amount of things with this topic, but it wont be as accurately as what I'm trying to show you. I believe android has something called OK google, but I honestly cannot give you an exclusive response regarding this kind of application. You may check on playstore and look at the description of what it can do. I've discovered that it's not actually laser fire, it's shock waves from time bombs, for some reason, they make the same hit sound as lasers.  I really don't think they should travel as far as they do right now.Also, speaking of caps, I think we need one on how far you can see, maybe 50 tiles?What's the difference between power boosts and speed boosts anyway if they supposedly end up doing the same thing?Is the ladder to the bridge supposed to not be flush with the ground on the other side?Aaron, try the fix in post 30 if you can't stop dieing right away.After playing more, this game really can be fun, but if allot of AI's, say 5 or 6, end up in the same place at the same time either firing or jumping or something, then entering the area around them lags the game to the extreme until you make your way out of that zone.I'm wondering how allies work, because it seems like all of them are e

I'm not sure if I agree with that. I preordered the game for $2.50 when it was offered. So far, the game play is an improvement over Ultrapower. 2DP was not an online game and the premium features just gave players the chance to edit maps and extra ambiances. IN the case of Scrolling Battles Pro, we have a multiplayer mode that allows us to play against each other. However, the corrupt aspects of Ultrapower, like the unbalanced leveling and weapon system are no longer present. Everyone has the same chance of winning fights, which is a great improvement. Besides, NS is also helping with this project.

The Ghost Rider, I feel a coward for not coming earlier to offer you a supporting hand dude.In some extent, I can at least imagine your pain.But the thing is, if she really loves you, as much as you love her, she will surely support you and wait for the right moment for you two to be together. Hold on to this, and use your feelings for her to as an extra fuel to keep you going. If you like to play music, use this as an inspiration for your creations. If you prefer writing, go and make your own world, make your ideas into characters, then face them, make them better, try to understand their reasons.I used to transform my issues into characters and sort of put them to use on tabletop rpg matches, to see if I can deal with them in a more introspective way.I could tell you about a really large amount of things with this topic, but it wont be as accurately as what I'm trying to show you. Again, I'm sorry, I'm really sorry for watching
  all this from a distance so far. I know I barely know you, and the majority of our fellow audiogamers, but I tend to care about other people. This being said, and now I may sound a bit contraditory... Perhaps you should try to see the whole thing from another point of view. Well, have been implementing some of these ideas in a simpler variant of the sound engine proposed here. What works fine so far:Footsteps, including pitch variants to indicate slopesUsing reverb to indicate something is under a ceiling (works really well)Bop sounds when you hit a ceiling or a wall, as well as a landing soundReverse jump sound to indicate that you're fallingWhat does not work: the idea of using wind to indicate gaps. I got it implemented as intended, but honestly feels like random noise that doesn't help much. This is kind of an issue since you need to be able to tell gaps before you fall into them (so you can jump over them, especially those that lead to bottomless pits).OK, so back to the drawing board on this. Does anybody have any other ideas? I think that if I get this done most of the stuff would be taken care of (I already got clues for nearly ever
 y object in the game, in many cases they even are timed to the animation)Last night I was looking into the Bokura no Daibouken games and they don't seem to be even remotely similar to Sol, they focus on exploration way moreso than on platforming apparently. My first game written in BGT, Fast Word!

Hi everyone,I decided to share my first BGT game along with it's source code. It's quite simple, and I wrote it basically to experiment with coding stuff in BGT, so I wanted to start with something simple such as a word game. I'm a Python programmer by default, since I'm coding in Python for around 6 years, and Angelscript syntax used by BGT is quite different story comparing to Python. Also, I never tried to write a game before, although I have experience in writing software apps. you can press the opposit direction key once to turn though, and in fact, you have to be quick to shoot her. slow action leads to death, for the lady that is. practice a bit, then when you face morgana, you'll have easier time

I'd recommend taking a look at QRead. It's a nice and very accessible file reader, that can be configured to access your Book Share  account directly to get books. I'm not shure what it's entire list of features are because I primarily got it to read PDF files.It's not free though, if that's what you're looking for. Hello,Since I am the author of the Youtube-DL NVDA-addon, I had to answer when I found this thread. I wrote this addon to make my use of Youtube-DL simpler, since it's also my favorite video downloader. I wanted to improve this addon by adding more and more of Youtube-DL's features, however, a fiew annoying bugs are blocking me for continuing development of this addon. These are:1. Download will fail sometimes for unknown reason to me, and the only way to hopefully fix it is restarting NVDA.2. I cannot find a function inside The Youtube-DL Python module to cancel downloading. This means that if you accidentaly put an hour long video to download, you must either wait for it to finish or restart NVDA. So, I can't implement a valid cancel download function. It seams that Youtube-DL itself can only be aborted by closing the console window. OK, it is open source, so I can add my own cancel function, but in this case I'll have to merge my code with 
 Youtube-DL's code every time when a new version arrives, and Youtube-DL is updated very often.Having said that, my development of this addon will pause for a little, unless someone has an idea for fixing that. In that case, I can grant the commit rights on my bitbucket repository where I'm hosting the code for addon.

Ghost Rider,Those Shockwave Flash files should come with an htm or html file that you should be able to execute. The file will open in your default browser and launch the Shockwave Flash file. Obviously you need to have Adobe's Flash player or some alternative, if there is one, installed to play the game.hth

Almost all of those sounds from RTR and Swamp are probably also unlicensed when you consider exactly how much the libraries they come from cost, even if you buy single disks which isn't even always possible, it's still easily over a thousand dollars.Even the very act of failing to encrypt, E.G. properly protect the sounds that you used in your project, no matter how much they have been modified from the original, is against the license in nearly all cases.The thing is, no one cares because these games are free, or at least very cheap, and it's highly unlikely that the case would ever be scene in court, and even if it was, most of the time there would be no money to sue for because no money was made.  The most that would happen is that you would be made to remove the media from your computer and possibly have your internet traffic reviewed for a while, accept that it would be hard to prove you even downloaded the media illegally in the first place wi
 th out a court order to your ISP, which may not have even been watching at the time or was unable to see what you were doing because you used a VPN, which is perfectly lawful.All these people rudely asking in broken English weather 1 game's sounds were stolen from another game, usually Swamp, if the game wasn't a large commercial venture that could almost certainly afford the licenses, may as well be talking to a brick wall for all it will do, and yet it happens every single time.I can pretty much guarantee that no one on this site actually knows what the hell their talking about when it comes to the law, which, incidentally, is why we have lawyers to figure it out in the first place.This also includes me by the way, but the difference is, I'm willing to admit it...

Almost all of those sounds from RTR and Swamp are probably also unlicensed when you consider exactly how much the libraries they come from cost, even if you buy single disks which isn't even always possible, it's still easily over a thousand dollars.Even the very act of failing to encrypt, E.G. properly protect the sounds that you used in your project, no matter how much they have been modified from the original, is against the license in nearly all cases.The thing is, no one cares because these games are free, or at least very cheap, and it's highly unlikely that the case would ever be scene in court, and even if it was, most of the time there would be no money to sue for because no money was made.  The most that would happen is that you would be made to remove the media from your computer and possibly have your internet traffic reviewed for a while, accept that it would be hard to prove you even downloaded the media illegally in the first place wi
 th out a court order to your ISP, which may not have even been watching at the time or was unable to see what you were doing because you used a VPN, which is perfectly lawful.All these people asking weather 1 game's sounds were stolen from another game, usually Swamp, if the game wasn't a large commercial venture that could almost certainly afford the licenses, may as well be talking to a brick wall for all it will do, and yet it happens every single time.

I guess that depends, from what I understand there really isn't much of an accessibility issue since all languages are more or less handled with text and symbols, which you can configure a screen reader to parse. Other's here can cover that in more detail, some people prefer C/C++ because of the brackets to encapsulate bits of code, where as others like the syntax of Python.If I had to offer a suggestion for a language to start with, i'd recommend Python as it handles a number of more complex features for you, though other peoples opinions may vary. You can download python here, and find the tutorial "Learn Python The Hard Way" here.

I got the idea that the Stream wasn't at fault. I went and restarted the router from the web interface. Everything is working ike a charm, although the Stream is rather slow at downloads. Anyone know why it's so slow when my Mac blazes through downloads at 2 mbps? Anyway, I believe I've fixed the problem. I don't need to call Humanware.

Assuming for the moment that you don't know how to program, the first step would be to pick a language and start doing some tutorials to familiarize yourself. After that its more about understanding the logic and structure of the game you intend to make. A lot of people around here seem to use BGT, although Python is another good language often recommended to beginners because of its more readable syntax and abundance of tutorials, though there are many more options available like C/C++, C#, HaXe, java, etc.

When you install the game, it will install the key generator, but as other people said, it will only work on windows XP and lower. I tried to run it on my Windows 2000 virtual machine, but it gave me a runtime error 429. And my windows 10 laptop said that the product ID is  invalid. So I guess it kind of makes sense. I don't think the controls were croaky in the other game, I beat the last challenger in it, but I can't be the redemption. It's too hard. But if you get the hang of it, it will work. The question is, who has it? Because I don't have it anymore.

Audiogames Battle Zone is more or less a side-scrolling hack-and-slash or run-and-gun, with a few additional obstacles like pits, cars, and moving blade-things. I mostly like the fact that it isn't overly verbose or step-count-y, and all the important information is in the readme rather than an elaborate tutorial or manual.

@wp85, the first problem you have is that you went to far north. If you started on the east half of the mainland, you will get to the rocky spring. if that happens, then go west until you get to the point where you should press shift enter. So, in rocky spring, go west.

Whew! My 32 GB SD card for the Victor Reader Stream arrived yesterday, so I spent the whole day rearranging my music collection so I could use folders instead of having to create playlists. Its the same method Dark uses, he told me about it, and I liked it. Thanks, Dark!It was a long task to with 2100 individual tracks scattered into 350 folders. Some folders only had a single track in it and some had whole multi disc albums. Most files needed renaming, either to remove the track number from the name, or to add it, if it was part of an album I wanted to keep intact. But I got it done and loaded it and all my BARD books (talking  books in encrypted MP3 format), some books from Book Share books (DAISY text), and about 30 podcasts, and still had 10 GB left.And the best part is, it's all more accessible than it was when it was on an iPod, and I no longer have to fuss with iTunes, it was a joy to run its uninstaller!.Sebbby,No, I don't hate Ap

I just don't like the way they do things and expect you the customer to heel like a good little doggy to their way of thinking.They're not alone, I don't like decisions Microsoft has made regarding Internet Explorer. Such as removing the option to disable tabbed browsing in IE 11, Or beginning with IE 9, to moving the download query from the very accessible dialog it was in to the not so screen reader friendly notification bar. But at least with IE I still had a choice to not update to those versions I didn't like. I decided to live with the notification bar, so I'm using IE 10.With Apple's iDevices, you have no choice if you want to load your media library on your iDevice. You have to use iTunes or nothing at all, an no media library on your iDevice if you choose not to use iTunes.You could do something like uploading your library to something like dropbox or sendspace, but if your internet speeds 
 aren't super fast, even a small library could take a while to upload and then download. Not very efficient.

Hi everyone,About Undead Assault, we are working on creating a different game, not just a call of duty clone, that's the reason we will release a beta some months later. We're working in voices,  some new sound effects, server's stability and some awesome features. About pricing, we're planning in offer a fully featured free version, but sell some maps and extra contents as DLC at reasonable prices. Also we are thinking in open a campaing for the server's manteinance, and if we reach the goal, some items in the DLC'S lists will be free. To be honest, personally I'm interested in paying the server as a first priority, that's the reason I will sell some features, open the campaing or accept donations. I can't promise anything at the moment, but that's the thing we're doing right now.

I can't speak specifically to BGT, but no one else is taking this.If your test script is ticking a world as fast as possible, 41 collections in a minute is not typically a problem.  If your test script is not taking that much Ram, then I wouldn't worry about it until it proves to be a problem in an actual game.  I have no idea what info is available on the BGT GC, but many languages don't wait for the heap to be completely full before running it.Keep in mind that circular references are graph cycles.  That is, you can have a referencing b referencing c referencing a.  This is still a circular reference, and a garbage collection scheme that uses reference counting will need a full collection.  Given that thinking about circular references through many objects is actually not the easiest thing in the world, I wouldn't worry about it; the memory still gets freed.If you have the appropriate metadata and one extra flag per 
 object, I can think of at least one O(n) on reachable objects algorithm to do it; there are probably better ways.  If this is implemented in C and your game is typical for audiogames, this should not be very expensive.If I had to guess here, do components hold references to their entities?  Does the entity manager hold references to components?  If yes, that's it and you're not likely to be able to trivially fix this case: it's going entity->manager->component->entity.  If you want to, you need to either use weak references or make everything refer to everything else through unique integer ids; the latter makes serialization easier, especially since you have no equivalent of pickle and no reflective capabilities as far as I know (and if you do have reflection, shame on whoever has written a pickle equivalent and isn't coming forward every time someone asks about serialization).
