Re: a problem with VirtualMIDISynth

That doesn't really help. I just installed VirtualMidiSynth without any problem on Windows 7 X64. You probably need to install service pack 1 from Windows Update. If so, the program won't work until you install service pack 1. Please check Windows Update. Service pack 1 was released years ago, so it should be installed on any modern Windows 7 system. If it's not on yours, it probably needs to be installed anyway.

assault_freak, they kind of are, seeing as one can't take advantage of the newly translated stuff without applying the update. The not being able to change weapons thing does work properly with the snake chain, but; with the chain sword; the bug is most likely that the enemy is just in an infinite stun. When dealing with other enimies, your weapon can't be changed until you release the sword, but if an enimy can't be harmed by the sword; for some reason; you're then free to move about the field and fight whatever else you want. This could be a useful strategy for dealing with sirtain bosses that contain multiple threats, as you can just stop one from moving while you deal with the other threats. Those were my thoughts until now, and their was never a chain object on the field when an enemy was stunned in this way, so that's why I did what I did.I figured it was just one of bk3's little secrets.Someone hinted that an ite
m exists that does 20 percent damage to the ball, but their isn't anything in any of the shops or in the first playthrough that has magical properties; as far as I know.I figured, with the effort it takes to make the chain sword, combined with the fact that you have to first get to the ball without dying, and it takes about 25 minutes; give or take depending on attack stat, that this was a viable strategy for obtaining the magical ball weapon. So, can anyone tell me how you're supposed to defeat the magical ball, or what difficulty level I should start on now that I have something like 10,000 attack and defence?Does anyone also know if it matters what difficulty level you start on; as in; do I still get the bonuses from the earlier difficulty levels if I start on; say; vary hard?Later!

I think he means creating an installer, which bgt itself does not natively provide out of the box functionality for.I'm not counting the audioform method, since you would need a lot of time, and a lot of know how about what your doing.iExpress should be an ok solution, I think.Honestly though, your better off just zipping it up and throwing it on a website or somewhere. Makes the lives of people who run games and software from USB a lot easier.

If you want to stick to a .exe and don't use any DLLs, it's possible to include a pack file in the executable.Actually, if you really want to, you could put everything in a pack file, then unpack it the first time the user runs it. That sounds kinda troublesome, though, and if you want to have an installer that does desktop icons, start menu folders, etc, you'd still need a different program to create that.

Im not really sure how to point it out to users since there is no difference in code besides the titles. on the 4th floor it states you are in sewer water when lower and then on a stone path when higher so hopefully that helps. Tonight I created a secret code i
n the game that will allow users of this forum to unlock the endless arena (much like battle arena was) so people who are too confused by exploring can just battle. Normally this is not unlocked until you beat the game but I wanted you guys to have a choice over here. right now for testers its already unlocked without the code its the "infinite portal" in your skill book and the middle tile. You can simply pick what monsters you want to battle then start the battle always at the same location.

@pelantasSmartglass is far from perfect on IOS, since Microsoft haven't bothered about the accessibility(at least not yet).  The Windows 10Xbox App is actually better thanks to better accessibility, also allowing for more functions (with some odd quirks here and there).  You can't use external apps such as youtube and twitch with narrator yet, though we hope that functionality will come.  You can message people, start parties, change settings (most of them without sighted help anyway) and invite people to games, amongst other things.I hope that helps.  Moreover, I need to do an overhaul on the Audiogames.net article you mention above, but I'm not sure when that'll happen.

I had to find dmg files for Leopard and Snow Leopard and I bought a Tiger disk which appears to have disappeared. (I hate people that move my crap around at random.)Anyway, are you saying I can't use a USB drive to install XP? I have an XP ISO image. Also, how do I go about formating the drive as fat32? I don't think OS X supports that unless you do it through terminal?editOh, I'm an idiot! You can format disks as fat. I was thinking NTFS. So, I don't know anymore. This seems way too complicated. If only Microslop actually cared enough to make the installer talk. I really don't want to have to fish out an external monitor. So, the current talking preinstallation packages don't even run the XP install program?
[[wow]], I don't know. My first idea was to see if I could even get a talking PE to load up and talk. If I can't even do that, it looks like I'll have to get someone to help. Also, I don't have disks and don't really feel like buying some.

2016-01-21 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Nocturnus via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Are companies controlling their users?

Yeah, ironcross pretty much summed it up.  There is no clear distinction between what makes something moral or ethical in such situations, save labeling something as legal or illegal when it is determined by legislation as such.  Suppose we take the topic and turn it into a discussion concerning music, which is something I work with.  Is a song worth 1 dollar and 99 cents if you only listen to it once or, if you buy it and never listen to it at all?  if you end up putting it on repeat and listen to it a thousand times is it still worth the same price?  Is it ideal to want to offer the song and any subsequent songs or albums to everyone at the same price if the only thing they want to do is listen and not distribute or stream the content or make it available by any means? Is it ideal to expect everyone to want to buy it at that price?  If we factor out the middleman in the equation, in this case, the record label, should the songs and albums in question still be worth the same price given that the artists will make more? And the list of questions goes on and on, perpetuating the conflict.  One camp validly argues that music is not readily and quickly available in their country or countries at reasonable prices; sometimes not at all.  This camp turns around and pirates the music which is, by contrast and in unfairness being made available elsewhere because they truly want to listen to it, indirectly promoting it as a result since it is receiving more attention do to said piracy, which seems like a win win situation for the artists.  Another camp argues that this is no one's fault, that the problem lies in poor promotion and overseas legalities and whatnot.  This being the case, it is wrong to want a copy of the material.  Still another camp can validly claim that sharing music with one's friends over the internet is no worse than having them all over at your house listening on your stereo system, the key difference being that they can listen to a song they particularly like whenever without having to wait on you to flip a switch or push a button, a notion that has somewhat been tossed around at netflix who recently endorsed sharing your account with family and friends given the likelyhood that others become addicted to the content and wish to pay for it in future.Soon enough all of these questions, suggestions, arguments and oppinions will become synonymous with every day life as multi billion dollar corporations struggle to acquire patents to claim ownership over anything and everything they can, from the materials and gestures that make and power your smart devices to DNA, to water, as Nestlé has tried to do recently.  Who has access and who should have access?  Since you can't fault the producer for wanting to make a proffit, and you can't fault the consumer for being drawn to those things that are proffitable, it's a debate you'll never win.

Re: Bootcamping my Mac Mini

2016-01-21 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : Chris via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Bootcamping my Mac Mini

Hello,This machine can boot from USB. I've done it to install Snow Leopard, Leopard, and Tiger off of USB drives. I got this machine off of Kraigslist from some guy who didn't bother to give me install disks. So, the current talking preinstallation packages don't event run the XP install program
? [[wow]], I don't know. My first idea was to see if I could even get a talking PE to load up and talk. If I can't even do that, it looks like I'll have to get someone to help. Also, I don't have disks and don't really feel like buying some.

You need 7 steps to build up full momentum from nothing.Female enemy voices, I plan to have some, and I would have made some but decided to code the major systems first. Plus I never got any female enemy voice packs. Usually I try to have an equal number of generic enemies and voice packs. I actually have a fourth voice pack that I haven't put into the concept demo, but I want to finish up th elevel editor first and that will be my main focus when I have the time, which is sadly fairly limited right now because of university.

I would promptly hop over to linux if orca was actually a worthy screen-reader. Oh, folks on the orca list could give me a laundry list of oppinions on why there is nothing wrong with orca, and it will get the job done, but i strongly beg to differ. I don't like it's verbocity for one, and web browsing can be hit or miss. And sometimes the software just flat out freezes. While i can work around it, i'm still on windows and OSX for accessibility reasons. That, and i consider myself OS agnostic.

Like I said, I can't be online all the time so can't see everything, or every admin. But personally I think you really should tell us who the hell is doing this. Because it seems whoever he is, he is doing a very bad job of being an admin and should be removed from that position. Especially if he doesn't even know enough about the game to figure out what is cheating and what isn't, can't even turn flairs off and is so irresponsible in general.I know you don't want to get yourself in truble, but in this case, like it was with Garrett, it is best if you tell us who he was.

@Kei_jones,I don’t know which edition of windows you are using, but NVDA reads Task manager without any issue. All you should do is installing NVDA and not keep it portable. It works just fine on windows 8.1. Then I’m not sure which service should I disable to improve windows’s performance. Skype does not crash here, and it’s so strange that problems are still persisting on windows 7. It appears like they are designing it only for windows 10 and 8.I use a start menu called Start dock start 8 which is not free, but it does not ever crash. Windows explorer does not crash so often, but it is slow, especially when using NVDA.

Sorry for the sudden outbursts here . But let me Clarify for something here.To those admin are trying to blaming player for cheating or speedhack so badly, like if some players have higher energy that came from stat boosting items that they have purchase.Next time, think about it before you blame them like this, I know some of the admin are not trustworthy, but I won't mention the name here, because these people are sounds like they want to kept these player out so badly just because they are cheating that. Not to mention if some of the people are tapping the arrow key when you have high energy, then, the Admin A will says "stop now, do you think I'm the idiot? that don't know are you cheating right now? or else you have 2 choices, 1 you going to get instant killed, or 2 you get banned from the game".So if you want to stop player from speedhacking so badly that long standing bug or whatever, I would  like you coded something that prevent the speehacking functioning in your game, Like the other one.And the other things, if one of you get annoyed by flares, when someone says turn off that notification, then you says this is immature people will do that. If so, why are you implement this feature on a first place? if you know this is the immature that want to have the flare on all the time, think of it.I know any of you don’t like the boom boom boom boom boom go like ten minutes, or maybe even twenty four hours Then think that way where you can stop all of them.End of the outbursts.

hello everyone.I'm new to this forum, and well one week and so enjoying the game. One friend of mine just threw the thing on my face, and screamed at me.I really really see some admins trying to argue with admins. My current choise, however, is to go off of chat channel, and play as a normal player. Can't you be serious? this is a complete complain about some of te admins, that have, personal issues off the game and want to get rid of them with... us.wannna say, that is not the best attitude to moderate anything, nor even a world wide game. I reported one admin to sam tupy, but nothing really happened. I'm an audiogamer and I'm talken seriously, one of those that can stay like 16 ours behind a pc. And, on the extensive list of games I enjoyed and stuff, this game is becomming a little... playroomish? do you admin human beings really wanna screw this nice sams work? if so, go a head! But, you all know one thing, I dont want to be on this argume
nt that I kick you, I don't I edit your inv, I don't... and stuff.Think we gotta reselect admins and check old admins status and stuff. This is the third time it happends to me, and promise one is so annoying, gotta trust that. 2 it's childish and I think most of the forum users are old enough to know and have a quite little part on the brain called common sense. Please use it.and 3, think sam should be more up for reports over the email, as in his skype he's not even replying. I might as well know that he's busy, as mayana coted he has a life too, but if he leaves this project, that, is huge, I gotta say, 1 why he even builded it if he's not gonna even talk about some admin threatments, or piss offs when messen with them? and 2, well lower down or calm down admins please. Me is not an arguing people, but well I'm reporting actively people that are nonsensical, doesn't worth it playing the game, and that are childish this includes
some little part of the admins I personally saw doing nasty things to me and or to friends of mine. Please, stop.if this comment sounds very very harsh, guess admins can go send me a warning? now can't they? hahahaha. I am not meaning ever to be harsh, but you can take this little thought of mine however you want.thanks.

threeblacknoises, the translation dictionary updates are separate from the actual game updates, so I'm not sure what you mean. There can be a new build of the translation without a new software release. and I could see how you could've viewed that particular bug as a secret... and there  actually is an item the does 20% damage to the ball. It's not in any of the shops, or anywhere in the regular part of the game. You have to find it in the actual fight, if memory serves. I actually got really lucky with this bug too, and beat the magical ball this way as well. But that definitely is not the intended tactic. lol

yukio, it's not so much the switching enemies while chaining that's bugged, it's just in the case of something like the ball, it will chain it but won't do damage and won't lock you in place, so you have the chain effect on the ball but not on yourselfI sent you an email about this too a few days ago

Re: The Windows 10 New World Order

here's the thing. I will only use windows. I will occasionally use OSX, in a vm now because I'm not buying a mac, because I can't and I won't. I don't like it. But OSX is a business platform. It is designed to be used in the office, there are litterally like 3 games for it. Garage band and logic are great for music, but they're expensive and my current stuff is totally free. Sure I have some torrents, which if microsoft deletes my torrents I will take that to the net, but it's free for me, you have to pay for apple things. I play games, compose music, and talk to people. THat's about it. Mac can do, exactly, one, of those things completely. Now I do agree that the accessibility on macintosh is great, but with NVDA the accessibility is great too. And I once saw this on twitter, it was reguarding IOS but I'm going to modify it for the windows spyware case. MIcrosoft knows you know about this. But you're not switching to mac or linux.
You know that, I know that, and MS knows it too. This was originally for the removal of the iphone's headphone jack. I can't buy a mac, I like my windows pc, and I like the OS. I like mac hardware, but I hate the OS. And linux? Well that's just clear out of the picture, linux will never be popular and widely used by us general users. Microsoft has done absolutely nothing so far to disclose our data or make it evident that they were going to. If they are submitting it to the government, get over it! So's your phone, so's your car, so's your house if you have a security system. It's nothing but terrorist finding, they're not sniffing through your stuff.

Re: The Windows 10 New World Order

I agree with everything said here about Windows; it's bloated, messy and a pain in the ass to get configured. That being said, I used to have 8.1 and 10 running on an old single-core 1.86 x86 laptop, 1.5 gb of RAM (no paging file) and a slow 80 GB SATA HD. It was sluggish at times, especially in Skype, but for the most part ran fine. I had NVDA and ClassicShell and would take it over XP on that machine any day. Battery life was pretty good too. I'm not trying to praise Windows and I hate Microsoft, this has just been my experience. Linux desktop accessibility has a long, long way to go, and the latest version of Eloquence is not supported, so I guess I just have no motivation to change. Besides even if I didn't disable (so I hope) everything related to telemetry, there are billions of Windows devices, many of them doing illegal things; I highly doubt my data is so important as to be scrutinized. Though if it is, I might end up introducing some random MS employee to
some kickass music, so that's cool I guess. If I really need to do something anonymously I'll use a Linux live system and Tor, problem sort of solved.

Re: Scrolling Battles in Python

Well, from reading this entire topic, I came to one conclusion. Wherever Mason is, there always appears to be drama involved in some way or the other.Honestly its a bunch of crap if you ask me. I don't give a crap about what dev uses what. As long as the game works, and its easy for the developer to update, go ahead. Go use c++, python, BGT, PB, swift, whatever! And another thing I don't get, you guys said Mason was moving on from python. I really don't understand. Mason claimed on twitter that he was giving up on python. Now he returns to BGT and starts developing SBU?And something else I'm wondering, I thought scrolling battles was like, dropped a long time ago.All of a sudden, scrolling Battles this, Scrolling Battles that. That's kind of old, and I think we could just use something else besides Scrolling battles. And as to the post about being thankful for bashing the devs of audio games? I completely agree with you
. This is the very reason why I just decided to never develop audio games again. I will not, by all means, put myself in a  situation where I spend hours and hours coding to discover that everyone hates my resulting product and people are just posting bullshit on the topic.

I know how you get the pieces of magic, but if that's what damages the ball, how? They're collection items. As far as I've been able to see, there are only two ways to damage the ball, both of which involve an edge of some kind. Is there something else you get in that fight? And, an unrelated question, I saw the paper doll in the list of items you can make in 16-4. I thought there was some item that was unlocked or made if you had several thousand of them, but can't remember what that was. Anyone know what that is? Is that even a thing anymore?

That's okay Ivan, because obviously you don't get the point of making them anyway. No one and I mean no one makes games for a "pat on the back because I did something amazing" that actually make it through. It's either because it's their job, or because they want to play them. I can't tell if Mason's developing for the pat on the back, but judging by the rapid discontinuation of his projects when disapproval arises I'd say maybe, but then again I'm not Mason and hints have no idea.

Re: Bokurano Daibouken 3 : secondary topic

It's better to start on exciting if you beat the game on normal for the first time. When it says enemy lv 50, it means the current level of the enemy plus 50 levels. So, the first enemies would be level 51. With the wolf levels, it's multiplication. If your using an english voice, it will probably say something like enemy lv 2? If your using pro talker, it will say enemy lv 2 y or something like that, can't understand exactly what it's saying. Anyway, that means enemy level times 2. So on exciting, the bio control system would be level 150, and the other part of the boss meaning 25-5 the enemies would be level 160. On wolf, the bio control system would be level 200, and the 25-5 boss would be level 220. On the last difficulty level, (legend of I Een), I think all the enemies will be level 10.

Suffice it to say, this is not a light topic of conversation, and it isn't anywhere near as cut and dry as you might imagine.

threeblacknoises, it's supposed to reset. The game warns you every time that no matter what level, if you change your difficulty, your stages will reset. Your stats stay, but you lose all the keys and items required to pass a stage so you're basically beating the game from the start, just with fresh stats and weapons.

Re: Scrolling Battles in Python

I've red most of the topic here, and this is what i've got to say on the matter. First off, i'm absolutely disgusted at the way my name was abruptly braught into this, and how it had to keep dragging on for a few posts. Mason learning python is not my beaf, please don't drag me into it. If i've got a problem i'm perfectly capable of standing up for myself about it. Onto the hole game developer respect thing. Someone, can't remember who it was mentioned a while ago on this forum in 2005 or 2006 I believe it was that respect is earned, not handed out. And that saying applys to game developers as well. We're normal people, just like the rest of you. We all have our own opinions, our own lives, what have you. Just because we developed a game doesn't make us speshel, at least in my book. This goes exactly the same for the mainstreem community, be you big corporation or small team. Fact of the matter is, if you treat someone bad, they have ab
solutely the same right to throw it right back at you, game dev or not. And again, this is precycely why I tell people on other games I go on to treat me as a normal person. Have I had friends or people on other games tell me something of mine wasn't good? Of course. I've had it happen to me on swamp. Did it affect me, maybe a little. But i'm still grateful to whoever said that comment because at least they were honest and open about it, and it was my choice to  go on swamp when I very well knew their could be bad comments. In short, because this post is getting rather long. If you arn't prepared to take a few bullets, then maybe developing audio games isn't right for you.

Re: The Windows 10 New World Order

What exactly is all this data collection stuff about? The major! reason Windows pisses me off so much is that the installer doesn't talk. I really really don't understand this. I thought it would change with Windows 10, but I doubt it. Hell, the only reason I still care about Windows and want it on an actual machine is to play online games? How is this operating system so popular if we can't do something so simple and important as install the operating system from scratch or repair it? I mean what gives? seriously? I know this is a rant, but it's really disheartening that I lack that independence. This probably means I'm not taking any jobs related to Windows. I don't feel like depending on sighted colleagues or what ever to help me reinstall or do anything else that doesn't talk. Seriously, what's so hard? If I'm being honest, I can't even accept WIndows as a serious operating system anymore if these accessibility issues are prese
nt. It's just like trying to use appliances that are 100% inaccessible. Why doesn't someone like the NFB sue Microsoft or something? Why do they continue to ignore this glaring issue? This is more important than the inaccessible Edge (which really shouldn't be inaccessible in the first place) and other metro apps?I just don't understand why the largest software company in the world that powers a majority of the world's computers can't do these simple things.Ok, rant over and I'm not even sure if this belongs in this topic. I had to get that off my chest. It's been bugging me for years.

I did really like XP. Sure, Classic Shell is half the battle, but modern Windows is still a very large sprawling mess. I mean look at the list in services.msc and Task Scheduler. It's appalling!Yes, it's modern. I do appreciate that. But XP works, it isn't spying on me, I know exactly what it's doing, and it runs just fine in my VM, fast and responsive. I desperately need a reason to use a modern version of Windows, on bare metal, without going totally insane trying to manage it. Skype on Cocoa is nice. Really nice. Not as keyboard-shortcut rich as the Windows client, but to see Windows users struggle with what Skype has become nowadays makes me a little bit sad for them (and for me, when I'm on Win8.1). But not too much, what with their using Windows and everything. Yep, the lacklustre accessibility of modern Windows blows. Why this is I'm not sure; I guess it's just an ongoing decline. And indeed: still can't do an independent install of the OS. Although, @Chris, see if one of the talking PE environments can help.@Colton: ah, the age-old, if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear. If you don't mind MS spying on you, fair enough, but it's not for me. See earlier in the thread for the reasons. And you can choose another OS if you want to. It might be inconvenient or difficult, might cost more, limit your choices, and might require you learn new stuff, but it can be done. If you don't like OS X or Linux, then I guess you already decided you don't want to do that. Mac works for me (no, running it in a VM is a really sucky way to use it, even on a Mac), and there are blind Linuxers out there. Every OS can run virtual machines of every other OS, except Mac which only runs VMs
of itself (but not very well). There is also ChromeOS. Just give them a try, and decide which one gives you the best balance of happiness and functionality. You don't need to make excuses for Microsoft. But by and large, I'm with Nocturnus and Arqmeister. It's only lack of true and free choice where accessibility is concerned. I daresay that's how we all feel in some respects; after all, we chose our platforms based on our needs and requirements and are now stuck with them, even if that's the privacy-invasive Windows. But I'd truly prefer to have choices that aligned with my principles as well as my requirements. OS X feels to me like a midway point--a good start, but really, I wouldn't have created this topic if I didn't care about reaching the other side of the bridge. Certainly Apple has an agenda too, and while I'm happy living with the consequences now, I don't want to be stuck when the big hammer comes crashing down, as I
'm fairly sure it will someday. Their accessibility commitment is terrific, but OS X won't be a business priority forever. Linux and Windows will simply have to get better, somehow: Linux at actually being useful, and Windows at being a flaming operating system that works and provides usable accessibility without spying on everything.

atform that runs VMs of itself (but not very well). Certainly Apple has an agenda too, and while I'm happy living with the consequences now, I don't want to be stuck when the big hammer come
s crashing down, as I'm fairly sure it will someday. Their accessibility commitment is terrific and the privacy commitment probably the best in the industry, but OS X won't be a business priority forever. Linux and Windows will simply have to get better, somehow: Linux at actually being useful, and Windows at being a flaming operating system that works and provides usable accessibility without spying on everything.

Re: The Windows 10 New World Order

What exactly is all this data collection stuff about? The major! reason Windows pisses me off so much is that the installer doesn't talk. I really really don't understand this. I thought it would change with Windows 10, but I doubt it. Hell, the only reason I still care about Windows and want it on an actual machine is to play online games and host servers. Vmware apparently messes with port forwarding and it doesn't work properly. If I'm being honest, I can't
even accept WIndows as a serious operating system anymore if these accessibility issues are present.

I would most certainly pay for this game translation.  So far, I have been using qtranslate and it works for me.  I am stuck on a stage though,  darn it, I can't get the wapons in 1, 1 in the first door, I got the 4 weapons but there were some bonus items that I have to go to  45 7 or something like that.I will post more about it in the secondary topic.  [[wow]],  it  has been a long time since I have posted here.

It's a MIDI driver for Windows that lets you use soundfonts or instruments in .SFZ format rather than the standard Windows wavetable synth.

You don't have actually have to run to jump over the pits, if you walk up to the edge and jump as far as you can, you can just clear the pit.The problem is that it's very hard to judge exactly where the very edge of the pit is and without a running start you're not getting enough distance on your jump even if you're just a step back from the edge. I think the blades are what make the current problems with momentum really show though. If I think I'm one step away from the blade but really I'm two steps away, I can't pass under it in time because I start moving too slowly. It's really hard to predict when to move based on your speed that's curving upwards for seven steps. It's not going to take a human being more than th
ree steps to work up to running speed. If you wanted to do something really kool with momentum though, you could make the excelloration take three steps and then make it so it takes an extra step or so to come to a stop (so if you're at full speed and you let go of the arrow key, you're going to take an extra step involuntarily).

I think the dial controls what you get in that room. So, what do I need to set it to? Also, the hyper sniper rifle. The dial determines if that appears in another secret room or if you get something else right? I remember this being explained somewhere on this forum but can't find that either.
