Re: New traelor for update to death match project alpha

Greetings all. Well, you asked for it to return and its almost here. This isn't quite the same as dmnb v1, I had to draw the features from memory, nore does it have neerly the number of features v1 did, but i'm still slowly getting to implementing them. To explain, what i've done is essentially this. I've taken the multiplayer mode and adapted it so its now dmnb. However, don't rage, because their is a fair compramize. I've still kept in the little minny games i've coded, which means you still have the hacking stuff I demoed in the last recording, along with the debris salvaging minny game. However, you now have the return of the unrestricted, fully open, fully 2d activity driven parts of dmnb. Basicly picture it like dmnb v1 reritten, with the following improvements. My crash handler so the annoying, insessant 30 minute long crashes are gone, unless of course something happens to the actual server or the game server itself is unable to boot. Cro
ss platform support across linux and windows. Better ship flight system than v1 or v2 ever had. Easier implementation, which means that this can still be project alpha online with storyline missions, I still haven't thought of any and probably won't be able to think of any until after release. You still have the tractor beam module from project alpha as well, so no automated simply going to an engineering computer, clicking a system to repair and leaving it their. Since the online mode is now playable i'm going to release soon, not sure when but soon. As for the storyline, i've decided to wait on tackling it in offline and online until after release, since I really want to get my basic systems tested first. Oh, and as for ships, i've decided to go with the dmnb idea of being able to buy and build ships, so your able to buy a basic ship at the start.

@Turtlepower, if it were just me, I'd probably libber office, but not with what's at steak at the moment, since it'd be quite a disaster not to have the thing working. While I'm not sure about the 365 subscription, on the other hand, I do wonder about updates and access fixes, if stand alone copies office don't get updated, since with Microsoft committing to access, updates might actually be a good idea at this point.Btw, another random question I have enabled showing of file extensions, however I was wondering if there was a way to show specific! file extensions, since generally I don't find  every extension read helpful. In xp and windows 7 this was all through the file types setup,  but windows 10 doesn't seem to have the same thing.

Re: girls you like but never told

It depends upon what you mean by "like" here. Miner attractions are fairly common and don't really go anywhere, but when you know the person as a friend, have been around them for a while, and find yourself wanting something other than friendship that can be a pretty major problem, especially if your literally incapable of understanding all those mysterious, arcane signals which are supposed to tell you the other person is interested.I'll say it's slightly less serious for girls (though it does happen), due to society's rather ridiculous ritual that guys are supposed to do the asking, meaning if your female there is more chance of someone like telling you, although girls can also have the problem of falling in love with a friend with no expectation things can work out. For me, I generally would fall in love with someone every few years. And I do mean "love" here, something a bit  serious than miner attraction. On a
very, very few occasions (three times in my life), I told the person in question since the choice was say something or have my head explode. The last of these something very unexpected happened, and it turned out said person felt very much the same way, she's now my wife. So, it worked out in the end, but I really! wouldn't recommend the route I went through to anyone at all.In general having female friends, talking to girls and just being a nice and reasonable person is about the best you can do.

Re: Monthly Chat February 2017

And to you Miriaespino, though I have to say yesterday was probably the least romantic occasion imaginable, even considering it's our first  valentine's  day married. Well Slender is correct since I'm back again at five in the morning, although yesterday I got a lot of things done. So, remember those towels I mentioned? well of course we put them in the washing machine, only to find said washer decided to immitate a British crickit match and go on strike due to flooding. Yes, the motor went crunk and we had water all over the flaw. So I ring the council, or at least the random housing association who are now my landlords in place of the council since the was originally given me by them, and very appropriately they washed their hands of the thing. Okay then, I ring curries, regular regional electronics place who have a shop and could deliver, provided we can find a washing machine that actualy has knobs not a none usable digital d
isplay. On the down side, curries local isn't actually possible to get to without paying about ten quid per trip for a taxi, however in an era of instant communication where I can talk to anyone across the globe in secondds, talking to someone about 15 miles away should be absolutely fine right? wrong! they planely misunderstand the meaning of the word "local" since it's physically impossible to speak to anyone in the shop itself, I was put through to somewhere in India, and when I explained to said Indian lady that no, I didn't want to order a model I needed to talk to someone in the actual shop to physically ask about the controls, she said she understood, offered to put me through to their stock department, and finally stuck me on an answer machine that cut me off. I was therefore left with two choices, paying cash for a taxi and hoping to find a helpful shop assistant, or doing something I don't like doing, and asking my parents to go in to t
heir local curries and find a usable washing machine. I took the latter option, much as I didn't like to. If people were wondering why I didn't just ask a friend to go with me, the simple answer is that this is pretty urgent. Our bath tub is full of semi clean laundry, including a cover, which we only have one of, (indeed I wonder if part of the reason I'm awake so early is due to the fact that my wife and I had to share a very small single quilt which can be rather chilly. To compound things, it seems Reever might be ill, which really isn't good either and is yet more things to deal with, particularly since my lady is a bit stuck due to not really having finished her cane training sufficiently to get into town yet. So, combine this with my Nvda experiments and need to get office, install things like Vipmud continue learning more about nvda, and I'm pretty busy at the moment. I also finished Cell by steven king and  will be wr
iting a review, since fortunately now I do have an email program to send it, even if it'll have to be written in wordpad rather than ms word for the time being. To calm things down though, and because it's a book I've not read since the age of around 15, I am rereading david eddings mallorean, since sI reread the belgariad recently. Quite surprised how much I enjoyed those, since they're just so fun! also, since they have enough praise they're books I don't need to review.

Re: I feel like college is changing my friend

I am repulsed by gays, men not women, but that just proves what a deplorable piece of shit I really am. I am repulsed by the idea of being gay, two men having sex with one another. I am also repulsed by the idea of changing one's gender. I do, however, recognize their right to not only feel like the do, but to be who they truly are, and I would never infringe on that right. I do not have a problem with gay marriage, or a couple of such a marriage adopting a child. I feel that as long as the child is in a stale relation and there is love in the home, he will do alright. He may face challenges that other kids do not, like explaining why he has two dads. He very well might be persecuted, tormented, and bullied, but that can happen to anyone who does not fit within the mold that school society feels they should. Also schools now are taking a more active stance with zero tolerance towards bullying, I am not naive enough to think that solves the problem, but let's face it, any
kid who is different enough can face the same issues. That difference can be with or without the kid's control. So, no reason why two people who are in a stable relationship can adopt. Hell, look at all the people coming from broken homes who have turned out OK. Some have, some haven't. Those that haven't are tending towards repeating the cycle of their parents. So, if two gay men or two lesbian women want to adopt, hell I don't see the issue.

I told the girl and she couldn't say one way or the other.  That was something of a confidence buster for a really long, long long time.  And then a ton of relationships later, I met my wife.  That was nearly two years ago and I haven't looked back or regreted it once.

In an RPG the demo might allow you to play up to a certain point in the story, in most cases up to the second boss battle or some other major event. That way you can still explore the world or as much as is accessible to you at the start.

Re: Trying Nvda

I agree with post 19. Let me explain a bit of what ie does. Files with the nvda-addon extintion are just zip files, all nvda does is extract the files to a folder in the addons folder. IE knows this and changes the file to a .zip file, because it knows it's improper and doesn't chose to notify you of this change. Firefox is better because it saves the files as is without making unauthorized changes to your downloads. Hope this helps.

Re: I feel like college is changing my friend

It's a toughy for just about everyone, even Christians.  Don't ever let anyone convince you that he or she has never posed a question like the following:If God is omnipotent, why do I have cancer/blindness/insert random disability or disease or other chaotic number of problems? If he's sovereign, why did he allow so and so who was clearly a good person to die?If he's holy and merciful, why is there so much evil in this world? And if he's God and he loves us all, why, oh why, would he not make it so that we all knew him, felt him, sensed him, understood him, could come to grips with him and wouldn't have to deal with our lives the way they are?All of these words plus others such as omniscience, omnipresence, immutability, etc etc, become problems for just about everyone to comprehend, abstractions that are all meaningless particularly if you are going through a ton of heartache.  Sovereignty seems entirely tyranica
l, holiness is terrifying, omniscience is taunting, and immutability is tortuous.  This is when you either give up on God, or start seeking him more diligently.  I am convinced that, unless one has given up on one's self, he or she will not stop questioning these things and the way the world works in general.

Not to reveal too much, but this person went blind very quickly, and the way they describe it, the change in how others acted toward them was dramatic. Also, let's be honest--the students come from a variety of backgrounds and often wind up defaulting into little 2-5 person cliques, people arrive with different attitudes and levels of skill, etc. As I said, I like the social landscape at LCB better than any other gathering of blind people I
can think of (although the first time I went to that summer thing might be worth reevaluating...), but that does not mean there aren't jerks snobs and condescenders from time to time. I don't know enough specifics to say much else about what exactly led up to the incident.I don't know what to say about how the staff handled it, other than that it was not really spoken of openly. I only heard rumors, until the student in question told everyone during either announcements or seminar. I'm a bit torn on this. On the one hand, I remember someone bringing up how someone at WSB successfully committed suicide, and how the staff acknowledged that there was a tragic death but tiptoed around the issue, and I'm still not sure how open anyone would have been at LCB had the attempt been successful. I want to think they'd've acknowledged what happened had it come to that (and I can't imagine people not asking if it was brought up), but I really can

On the other hand, it's a pretty personal thing, so when is it OK to talk about it?turtlepower17 wrote: is it really acceptable for someone to get hit by a car, all in the name of independence? I think I need to ponder this some more, because clearly, these programs wouldn't exist at all if these were regular occurrences, or if the parties involved hadn't accepted it somehow. The person who got away with a week of backpain was/is very determined to see it through. It did have a negative impact on their confidence, which is completely understandable! Yet just yesterday they were asking me for suggestions on where to do their out-of-town assignment. And I'm already giving out way too much information, but I can confidently say that this person does not like the risk one bit, and yet had determined by then that the training
was worth it.The person who needed surgery hasn't come back yet, if they plan to at all. I don't know how mobile they are, or anything; the last I heard is that the surgery went well and they were back at home recuperating, and that was months ago.The person who broke their hip will probably come back, but their physical therapy for adjusting to the replacement is taking way longer than expected. The person who went through the freakishly specific accident came back and graduated; they took several days to recover after being released from the hospital, but they were at their LCB apartment while doing so.The person who's situation I'm unsure of stayed on and ultimately graduated. I think they were off the crutches or whathaveyou in the last couple weeks or so, but I could be misremembering. IIRC, they still had 3-4 months to go when I arrived.Oh, I should add that the first person I mentioned in this post was not at all at fault. The
driver sped around a corner, saw the pedestrian, hit them and kept driving as though nothing happened. Someone who knew the driver was apparently at the intersection at the same time and saw all this. Several witnesses. It'd've been an open-and-shut hit-and-run case, if they'd wanted to press charges (they did not). I'm not sure vision would have made any difference in that case. The specific one I've stayed vague about would definitely have been avoided had the sleepshades been off. I don't know about the others.I don't really know how to evaluate the risk. I know that traffic accidents kill lots and lots of people, but people drive anyway, because it's just too convenient. While this small sample tells me that the risk of injury for a blind person in training is much higher, it's worth noting that most wrecks involve inexperienced and distracted drivers. It's a choice between an increased risk of injury, and increased
freedom to go where you want when you want. If one decides the gains aren't enough to be worth the risk, well, "live the life you want" . That could be because the person's skills are good enough that they expect they can make up the difference with less risk on their own, or it could be because they spend most of their time in places with excellent

There might be more than just those. They're given based on the same criteria as any competitive scholarship, I suppose: academic performance, how successful they expect the student to be, probably some less nice things no one hears about. They require an essay, a college/high school transcript if applicable, an interview with the president of candidate's local NFB affiliate, three letters of recommendation, and written proof of blindness. The winners are required to attend an NFB convention and are generally expected to give a speech.
The ACB does something similar. I don't know if both organizations do this on the national and state level, or if ACB is state-specific and NFB is national, or something else. I applied for both, but at different times. My NFB application was a disaster, so of course I didn't receive the scholarship (I think that's the year that camlorn did...). I had a much stronger application when I applied for the ACB scholarship, so I received one. I am very bad at unplanned speeches. Re: I feel like college is changing my friend

Slender I agree. The way I see it, almost all good sources of life's big questions come wrapped up in some sort of packaging.  For example, whether you're watching Star Trek or Stargate, each will present you with stories to make you question aspects of reality, moral dilemmas, and what it means to be human.  The same stories and questions will show up in both shows, scattered across several seasons and hundreds of individual episodes.  The main difference is that each comes packaged with the flavor of that show.  In one that packaging may be about human exploration, Romulans may attack at any time, and the warp core needs realignment.  In the other you need to keep the goa'uld from getting to Earth, keep the general public in the dark about everything, and liberate the rest of the galaxy from their oppressors.  Same lessons and big questions, but people will pick their favorite based on the packaging.  If you find yourself l
oving Star Trek, and believe its stories have expanded your mind/view, then you wouldn't fault anyone for loving Stargate just as much.  The packaging that you prefer is clearly not the important part that you feel has bettered you as a person... that same important part is clearly also important to the other person.

I mean, I suppose I'm glad that's not the case, but it makes it all the more malicious that people have to depend on the Blind Extra add-on to keep their Sappi voices. Sounds like the guy was testing the foundations for a possible ransomware attack, if you ask me, and wasn't completely sure how to pull it off. or maybe he was dropping subtle hints that this is what he intended to do.

Hi.I am more of a person that believes in science and things you can proove by combining facts to get a big picture. I was always sceptic about gods and such, even though I was raised in a christian way, I lost my believe in god, which is also due to the death of the friend of my mother because of lung canser, I had a really good relationship to him and he was almost a part of the family.I think that was the point when I told myself that i would never beliee in a false god. What is this for a god who loves all people and who lets those die whom you love? Or who starts wars and doesnt seam to give two shits about humanity and the situation down here? These were questions I was asking myself. I havent stepped out of church, I am still a member, but this will not be long anymore.I recently had a discussion with some people over religion and gay people, they were thinking that people are not supposed to be gay because god said that man should be related to women
and women to man. They were completely against the fact that there are trans or gay people walking on this earth, which is just a conservativ and close minded fact in my oppinion.I dont care if someone is black, white, blue, gay, trans or what ever.A closing note to all you religius people which I liked answered. If god wants people to be together as I stated above, why did he create people which are different? Just that the sociity had someone to bash? Which would show that god doesnt love all people, does it? And no, dont come me with satan and hel, I will not believe that. With that said.Greetings Moritz.

You could also try Libre Office, which is free, and allows you to open Microsoft Word files. I know that parts of it aren't fully accessible yet, particularly the calc program, which is, contrary to what it sounds like, a spreadsheet application like Excel. Writer, which is the equivalent of Word, is mostly accessible from what I understand, but if you need to do lots of formatting and such for your thesis, someone more knowledgable than me will have to explain whether that can be done as easily as it can with Office. Since I personally don't need lots of complex features, and have grown to despise both the ribbon interface and the bloated nature of Office in recent years, I was content to switch to this free option. But it might not work for you. I have one friend who says that using open source software is usually fine, except when it comes to an office suite. His logic seems to be that it can't possibly be as powerful or fully featured because it's not as we
ll known in business settings. I don't know if I agree with that, but, as I said, I don't know enough about it to form an educated opinion one way or the other.

More people should admit this. The Statement: No two minds are identical, nor are their experiences! Yes, it sounds obvious--but, no, really, lots and lots of things people think of as universal experiences are far from universal. This includes the God Feeling / Divine Presence Experience. Did you know people have felt this strong sense of the presence of holy divinity? Did you know that some people have not? Did you know that lots of people in both categories assume everyone in the other category has/has not the same as them, and are therefore evil liars for disagreeing with them about religion? Often what can force my sleeping patterns to get back to normal is either school (at the cost of a day of sleepiness) or playing lots of games, or, more rarely, it seems that after a while it just corrects itself. Also days/nights where I can't sleep can help, of course they're most helpful when they're days.

@turtlepower, I don't think the sapi repair tools would do anything, since the problem resides on NVDA, and not any other application. So I guess, I'll take the risk of reinstalling the add-on, disable the sapi five option in blind extra add-on, and hope that it'll get fixed. If that doesn't, I'll keep NVDA inactive for sometime until I find a solution, and use JAWS as I'm doing now. The reason I use JAWS most of the time is because of its solid performance in Microsoft Word, which is where my work is focused most of the time.

And I think that even for non religious folks, religion may reveal some moral lessons, even though it's often hidden behind the Heaven/Hell/God/Satan mantra.

Re: Your Experience with Sleeping Patterns

2017-02-14 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : CAE_Jones via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Your Experience with Sleeping Patterns

Raycrote, your medication side-effect sounds like a textbook case of mania (the polar opposite of depression). Including it being exhausting. Also yes, sleep cycles are a battle.I find I absolutely must have some sort of way to force myself to be up at the right times. If I can't sleep when the right times come around, melatonin is always an option. (The problem with melatonin is that it takes a while to have an effect, and I don't know if I'm going to have trouble sleeping until I'm having trouble sleeping... so using it habitually would probably be better, but I don't wanna.)What helps? Having a full day, I guess. If you have friends and you have the same school/work hours and you hang out after / before, your cycles will probably drift toward each other Yeah, that's it. Just external factors. Internal motivation can help, but you have to be starting from a strong enough place to have any internal motivation of consequen
ce. Not gonna lie, all these training center and college shenanigans were in part a front in the war on sleep (itself a front of the War on Akrasius, Demon Lord of Sloth and Despair), though not exclusively, because that would be silly. ... and it worked, though not without effort and luck, and now that I've used that up... well, I have no idea how long this Goldylocks interval... honeymoon period? Denouement? is going to last, so get back to me in a month or two.(I really didn't mean to make this post go back to that subject but no seriously it helped a ton with this particular problem. I think my internal clock is still screwy, and the symptoms are easy to recognize once you know what to look for, but, yeah. There's only so much sliding you can do with an 8-to-5 commitment that you have to walk half a mile to and from. Which leads neatly into my next topic...)How much should we push "society" for this? Some, at least. Current research
indicates that teenagers emphatically should not start school at 8AM, and no one but the super experimental montesauri-esque private schools have changed anything in response. In the US, workplace culture has gone nanners, and people all over are being pushed to work ridiculous hours and show ridiculous amounts of enthusiasm after spending ridiculous amounts of time and effort to get ridiculous overqualifications from ridiculously pompous universities. In short, work in the US is ridiculous. (Most people who will respond to this with some complaint about being whiny entitled good-for-nothing layabouts tend to be old enough that, when they started working, work was not, in fact, so ridiculous, and neither was college. This does not mean there aren't whiny entitled good-for-nothing layabouts who complain when you try to get them to do paperwork instead of playing on Facebook. The two are not mutually exclusive, you see.)It's something of an awful catch 22, or at least
, in the case where I link sleep to productivity (research and numerous anecdotes do so, so might as well test it, ne?). To get out of the Slothpit, one needs a full schedule... but if one tried filling the holes in said schedule with the ultimate target work already, then the only thing to do is fill it with something else. So there's a time scarcity either way--one at the hands of sleep deprivation, the other due to schedule conflicts. And yet, less is definitely more, where free time is concerned. Don't misunderstand me, Kakarot. Free Time is still essential. But whole weeks of free time are terrifying. (If training helped, then the 3 big breaks did very much the opposite. That I have not crashed yet since graduating is a welcome miracle.)I should add that, for me at least, filling a vacant schedule with lots of sitting is a very inferior solution. Especially if it's the sort where there is no getting up and going elsewhere during the day. This is one r
eason--perhaps the most important--that I want to go nowhere near an office job. I'd sooner be a housekeeper (Ahem, "environmental specialist"), since it at least involves getting up and moving around, and has a very clear way to measure progress. Alas, paperwork multiplies, these days, and spills into everything. This was supposed to be a quick reply, not a novella! -_-

See, my thing is, and this may be completely off of what this conversation has turned into because I only read the first 3 posts, hating and not accepting something as okay are two different things. For example, I myself cringe at the thought of people changing their genders or dating the same sex, it's not something I myself would ever do so when others do it I am unable to understand why they would. On the other hand, I don't hate them; I just don't accept it as being okay because God says it's not according to his rules. Does that mean I hate them? No. Does it mean I wouldn't be friends with them? No. It just means I refuse to believe being LGBT is okay.

You're going to want to use firefox with NVDA anyway, internet explorer's bloody slow and it messes with NVDA addon files when you download them. All those zip files? They were .nvda-addon files til IE got it's hands on them. When you downloaded them, the program renamed them in the background... without informing you. Nice of it wasn't it?Plus the NVDA firefox combo is nice and stable and will serve you well. as for the notifications that pop up when you attempt to download something etc, you use alt plus N to move to and interact with them. I can't say it enough... ditch IE,  NVDA plus IE results in a subpar browsing experience.

@ironcross32,Well phrased.  Usually when I present that question to an atheist I end up with a tirade or a rather stumped individual.  I'm glad that in this case, I got neither.  I'll never force the discussion any further than any individual is willing to take it.  You want to hear one even better than that?  I discourage atheists from going to church, since most of them have heard the word far too often for it to have much of an effect.  To those Christians who call me a hypocrite because I do so, I simply ask where they themselves have placed their faith.  if they believe in a loving God, why is it they don't believe a loving God who is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent and many things beside, cannot reach them?  While I fully believe that my purpose is whatever God has created me for, I do not believe my purpose involves numbing you to his existence, anymore than I believe my purpose is to prove it.

2017-02-14 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : afrim via Audiogames-reflector

Re: I feel like college is changing my friend

Hello, A bit late on this post, but I'll state my opinion.I fully respect someone who is gay, lezbian, or trans, provided that their status of their gender is not taught but rather born with the person. Now, I've not read many scientific documents proving that transgender is a taught behaviour or a disorder of sexual approach. However, I could go on to support the second theory because I have had a guy in my class who was a gay (sorry if this word is offencive in your country). He fully accepted his status as a transgender person and was pro any love relationship with the people of his gender. We would often see him get along with other people sharing similar characteristics. Surely, these can be done by any person who is taught in a very early age to act in a certain way that identifies transgendered behaviour, but he also had a voice and a way of speaking which gave you the impression that he was neither a guy nor a girl. Some people may argue that he kept
his voice in a high pitch so as to resemble a girl, but no way; he would always speak in the same tone and never change his voice. This is not certainly the first time I see this kind of person, because we had a guy in a show called Big Brother with identically the same characteristics. That's what leads me to believe that the transgender phenomenon is a disorder rather than a "negative" behaviour taught by anybody. What I really do not support is the marriage between two gays or lezbians. The reason is because firstly, the marriage between two people of the same gender does not lead to a new product of the marriage, which is the child, and secondly, it may prove to be very problematic for the children they adopt. If the children will grow in an environment where parents will act in a certain manner, it is highly likely that they will adopt that certain manner as well. If many gay couples will follow this trend, we will soon have a significant grow of transgendered po
pulation, as well as the aging population. It is very early to speak of this phenomenon, but I think there is nothing to prevent it from happening.Speaking of religion, I gave up on it two years ago. I do believe in God, but I don't think that religion is the path to God. God is not that supernatural power which grants you the paradise, (the greatest place on the sky and the earth) where you will live like a king. Servants serving you at your will (how the heck can exist servants in the greatest place of earth and sky)! Also, a more critical approach of most of the religions today is the figure of God that they create in the minds of the people. Do not do this because the God is watching you. Do not speak badly about Islam or Christianity because God will send you to the burning hell. Now, a child, or even an adult with a good fantacy or imagination will be able to visualise the God as a dictator, or a police watch. A strong believer who follows devotedly the rules of re
ligion will always be in a state of confusion or stress. For example, if you have a hot debate with a friend and you shout at her, and in a state of anger, you offend her badly. You will first think of having had broken the rule of God who orders you not to offend or prejudice others, instead of thinking about having had hurt the feelings of someone whom until some minutes ago, you used to call a friend. I personally see religion as a program. On this day you have to donate to poor people, tomorrow you have to celebrate, next week you have to fast, next month you have to celebrate in the name of a religious hero, and so on. But, for example, today I don't have the financial means to donate to people in need, or simply, I don't want to donate today, I want to donate whenever I feel. I want to donate next month, I want to donate in the New Year's eve or whenever I want to. Another thing I'd like to mention is the use of religion by priests to formulate rules which
are apparently based on what exists in the religion and in the holy book. Their rules affect the population in different ways. In our country, for example, there have been many Islamic priests who say that the western culture is a culture which conveys idiocy, exageration, and it betrays all the rules of the almighty God. This was the point when I started to keep myself away from doctrines of my religion, but there are many other reasons which would lengthen this post more than anybody cares to read.

Re: Your Experience with Sleeping Patterns

2017-02-14 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : raygrote via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Your Experience with Sleeping Patterns

I do agree with what Dark said about sleep and emotions. What I've noticed, though, is that my body seems to have a more or less uniform response to how it wants to sleep and stay awake. For example, if I fall asleep at 9 and wake up at 1 feeling fully rested, I'll only feel rested for a few hours. Then around 6 or 7 I'll go back to sleep and finish the last 4 or 5 hours of the sleep I started earlier. So it eventually makes itself up. The problem, though, which I completely forgot about until reading Dark's post, is that sometimes I'll wind up splitting my 24-hour cycle into two distinct ones. For example, sleep for 4 hours, wake for 6, sleep for 4, wake for 10. That's a 24-hour cycle but it's exhausting, and the best way I've found to break it is to simply avoid those 4-hour naps. Which of course knocks everything out of whack and who knows where I'll eventually end up? Speaking of that, there's a little story about an extreme ve
rsion of that which I will tell a little later.I'm also extremely sensitive to sunlight, especially in the summer. A few years ago I was helping a friend of mine with a presentation and we had lunch outside. The sun was shining on me and while I was only outside for 15 minutes, it was enough to tire me the rest of the day. When I got home at 4:30 I crashed. Hard. I woke up at 2:00 the next morning, and spent the next month fighting with that pattern. I'm not exactly sure why the sunlight hit me that hard, but I do have some medical problems (mainly crohn's disease) which I think creates some vitamin deficiencies which I have to be periodically tested for to ensure the supplements I take are adequately dosed. That all might play a factor in my sensitivity to sunlight. I don't like going outside much either for some reason, so that also probably plays a part in my sun intolerance. I've always had it, though, and I think it used to be worse before I star
ted meds. Here's a story of a somewhat personal nature, but which I think you will enjoy. My previously mentioned Crohn's disease went spiraling a couple years ago, and I went to see my specialist. He expressed concern that something was going on, so we did a whole workup and other procedures, and he indeed said things were progressing. Thankfully, the worst of it was the symptoms caused by the progressing disease, and not some devastating turn of events the disease had set in motion. So, he was able to alter my medications and also streamline them so that I was only taking the essential things I needed for treating the disease in its current state.Unfortunately getting the new meds took time. The doctor told me that if I simply couldn't wait, if the pain was too much, I could let him know and he could prescribe Prednisone, a powerful anti-inflammatory, for symptomatic relief, but that the side effects may not be pleasant. At first I said I don't ne
ed it, but soon I had lost much of my normally ravenous appetite. I felt lethargic and was not keen on getting up and doing anything. My mom, seeing this, encouraged me to get the Prednisone, and soon I was taking it. And boy did it change me!The most dramatic change caused by the Prednisone was my emotional state. While most people become depressed, I actually became high. I became overly enthusiastic about everything. I finished some projects, or did significant work on them, that I wouldn't have thought to do otherwise. While I didn't do anything ground-breaking, I certainly did a lot compared to what I normally do. I was told that I also looked very unhealthy, and that is another side effect of Prednisone, it can change appearance by making you feel or look bloated or have breakouts on your skin. I had all of that too.It also screwed up my sleeping patterns. My 24-hour schedule was dramatically reduced. I was lucky if I could stay awake for 8 hours. And t
here was no such thing as even a 6-hour sleep. In fact after only 2 or 3 hours of rest, I was, almost, ready to tackle anything. Some days consisted of a very repetitive rectangular pattern. Sleep for 3, wake for 4 or 5. All day. It was exhausting, and often meant I couldn't pay attention in class. I would often doze off. Fortunately most of my professors didn't even mention it, probably because my life isn't theirs and they're leaving it up to me, but the few who did were understanding. I promised them that I would still get my work done, that they didn't have to worry about my well-being, and while they were worried, they believed me. And as it turns out, that's exactly how it happened.Because Prednisone is slow to wear off and requires you to ween yourself off of it, and my new meds have a process of their own to be weened onto, there was a point when I was taking both at once. It was a bit scary, but nothing consequential happened, other than
the fact that as I tapered off the Prednisone, my high wore off within a matter of days once I got below the critical point where

I do not hate Christians, or anyone of any other religion based on that. There really are not that many individuals who I can claim I hate, and I try not to hate large groups of people. I have no problem with Christians talking to me about the subject if they will actually listen to my side of it, otherwise, if you want me to be ears open when you tell your side, I expect you to do the same when I rebut, rather than it going in one ear and out the other.

Re: Any party-leading turn-based strategy?

Yep, pvp in puppet nightmares certainly, although only for those who wish. What is particularly cool, is there is the automatic kind of pvp, where you battle people who are offline, but you can also have online battles with people, which works a little like a turn based  game, with you choosing your puppet's actions and hitting submit and the other person having to respond. So long as you choose a reasonably long turn interval to give you time to decide what your doing it can work very well, and that's from someone who really doesn't enjoy pvp much .

Thanks for that Socheat. I've actually setup a new subfolder in  just for nvda related stuff . One thing though. based on your comments about Jake Groseman's site and running nvda with the mobile George Sapi voice, I went to This page, however I didn't see any addons related to mobile use. There were some interesting ones, in particular one for Sam and orphius, though when I downloaded them they were zip folders and I wasn't sure where to put them. With nvda at the moment the two major things I'm having are firstly, if I accidently hit an advert box like one of the ones at the top of this page, I seem to get stuck between several different buttons off the page itself and sometimes can't get back to the text, and secondly, I'm missing S
upernova's find function, where I could type in text and have the focus jump straight to it (I used it a lot on the forum). I've tried ctrl f, but that seems a bit finicky, since when I hit "next" button in that toolbar and then press escape to get out of it, sometimes I@ve not moved. I'd also like to get rid of this "blank line" thing, since it does make some pages a bit annoying to read with arrow keys, such as battles in Monbre. Then again I've not been through all the tutorials and  various resources yet, so it's entirely possible I've missed something.

For people    who enjoy senseless killing and distruction, this is the right game for you. It basically consists of running around the map murdering your fellow human beings in a number of diverse and possibly very painful ways. ++2: account system.Since a lot of people got confused on how accounts work, I will be outlining this here. There is no actual account system. You simply choose a name and log in with it. Character theft is not  an issue in this game, as characters lose all their items and ammo when they die or log out. The fact that items do not save unless deposited in certain places is deliberate and attempts to stop players from getting too powerful over a long period of time. Do not even think about trying to impersonate Sam Tupy or Mason Armstrong, you will most likely be caught because of how their and your name is formatted,

The current map of redspot consists of an empty area in the south half, really nothing much to speak about. There is a small body of water in the south west area, with a bridge going across it, you can also walk under the bridge. The north half of the map is a forest, unfortunately no trees to blow up by accident. There are several towers around the map for you to fortify and use. The great thing about these towers is that they can be used as refuge when item grabbing, because climbing them takes a long time and the only thing that can hit you is a rocket fired from the next closest tower. If you have team mates with you, those rocketeers can also be delt with. On the 500
coordinate, a series of steps start which are climbable. When you reach the top you will gain access to another grassy area. Re: Supernova disappointments

@Seby I don't particularly know in terms of window eyes if the problem I had, problems which were pretty  disasterous, were due to my inexperience, the fact that the computer it was installed on was a right royal mess (it literally self destructed soon after),the fact that I was attempting to setup things for my lady, who'd previously used Window eyes, but only a copy configured for her by someone else and was running into massive trouble,   some combination of those factors, or window eyes itself. Suffice it to say however that I wasn't overly encouraged to continue experiments. This isn't a bash at Window eyes specifically, just a note as to why I pretty much wouldn't consider trying it again unless Nvda ran into similar problems to supernova. that I think in terms of screen reader choice is a factor, since it's often easier to continue with something than to change, and rather like Kuhn and paradigm shifts changes
only occur when the current paradigm has enough  inconsistencies. However, this does seem to be happening with some screen readers. I'll say supernova has some experimental support for Microsoft edge and more is planned, though I didn't buy the argument that trouble in  native windows 10 was specifically due to Microsoft edge.

And yes Amazon is offering you a code, in partnership with Microsoft, so it's a legitimate purchase as long as it's being sold by Microsoft on Amazon's marketplace. Of course, nothing says you can't renew through MS directly, if you prefer. In any event, once you register the code to your Microsoft account, you will get your 1 TB of storage and will be able to install and run the Office apps on your devices (one each of phone, tablet and computer).

Re: Kickstarter Project for "A Hero's Call" from Out of Sight Games

Phil, that's something we've had some debate about back and forth, and haven't made a decision yet. Only doing a demo of a certain quest really wouldn't be an option in an open-world game like this - rather we would have to do something where you were just restricted to a certain area. There are points in favor of offering a free demo, but there are also some risks and challenges associated, so we still have to weigh all of that. As far as knowing whether or not the game will work on your machine, though, that's what system requirements are for. When we publish the game, we'll be sure to provide minimum and recommended system specifications.

This topic should get moved, this isn't a new game. The password is robot, and when you enter it you'll have to fight an enemy generator or summoning disk as it is in Japanese.

Re: The redspot drama with lord london (andreas)

This guy has had a history of trolling/pissing people off even on AA. He admits he has issues, but does nothing about them.Back this up with the way he acts when he doesn't get what he wants?Sam, I don't know you, but you're doing the right thing. That said, however, the idea of self-policing is a sticky one. I'm not against it, and Sam, I think you should at least consider, in certain circumstances, being willing to rewrite or flex the letter of the law if your self-policer was doing more good than harm. There is something to be said for the argument of "I was honestly trying to help in the only way I knew how". In this case, I think your decision was justified more because of Andreas's conduct overall than because he broke your rule.Andreas, Nocturnis pegged you pretty solidly. There's really not much else to say. You may have had good intentions at the start - I say "may" because frankly I don't know - b
ut they were quickly overshadowed by your attitude. If I had been the one to ban you, I'd have done precisely what Sam did. If I had been thinking of weakening, your attitude here on the forum would've made me metaphorically lock the door and throw away the key, at least for the foreseeable future. Someone who wants to do as they please with no regard for the rules is not someone who deserves to play the game. End of story. And don't worry, folks. I'm not angry, upset or anything like that. I'm just chiming in beccause I can.But here are a few random facts for you.1. A duck's quack doesn't echo, and no one knows why.2. It is anatomically impossible for a human to lick the outside of their elbow.3. William Shakespeare endowed Julius Caesar with the anachronism of a striking clock. In Caesar's time, striking clocks were not invented.4. Water pressure at the bottom of the ocean can pulverize diamonds.<

Re: Any scifi-muds out there?

I've actually been looking for some good science fiction for quite a while, but not so much Shadowrun (cyberpunk) and more Stars Without Number (space travel). I'd rather the game environment reflect that heavy rp focus, so maybe not a mud in the traditional sense (circle/rot/whatever) or moo; probably what I'm looking for is a mush or whatever the other one is, which are both built around roleplay. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: A couple of windows 10 questions

Hmmm, I've not bought software from amazon, or is office still only installing on disk? I know office isn't free, but when I checked In the  windows store office  was listed as free. I assume this is because you get a free trial and then after a week or so something will pop up along the lines of "toon using office send us your soul, or first born son, or bladder" or just lots of money .I actually thought buying directly from Microsoft theoretically be cheaper as well, though again I could be wrong. as far as the subscription goes, my only issue with that is whether office itself will stop working if subscription runs out, since while I may or may not use cloud backup service, I certainly will be using office for the conceivable future, though again, whether the subscription also gives you use of office on other mac
hines is a concern as well since it's conceivable I'll buy a windows 10 laptop or tablet at some point.

Joseph,Will A Hero's Call have a free download demo feature? Many games allow you to download a part of the game to make sure the game works with your computer. Then a password unlocks the rest of the game. Some games even produce a demo version with one adventure or level. This could be A Hero's Call  releasing only the Talisman Quest.

the redspot handbook of death and distruction

the redspot handbook of death and distruction

Welcome soldier. If you're reading this, you've found yourself to the hellhole that is the place where operation redspot failed. This document may help you survive, and maybe make some kills of your own in this war torn wasteland. Contents:Note: Since sometimes sections are pretty far apart, searching for ++ will help you navigate. Searching for ** will navigate to subsections.++1: What is this game even supposed to be?++2: Account system.]]3: Game basics.++4: Misc keys.++5: Other players and killing them.**5.1: General information.**5.2: Starting weapons.++6: Items.**6.1: The full list.**6.2: Vehicles.++7: Bases.**7.1: Creating a base.**7.2: Base functions.**7.3: Base computer.**7.4: Destroying a base.++8: Closing.++1: what is this game even supposed to be?Redspot is not actually a tettris game where you attempt to catch red dots falling down the scree
n, nore is it a painting program. It is a new fps released by Sam Tupy productions and  Mason Armstrong together. Do not even think about trying to impersonate Sam Tupy or Mason Armstrong, you will most likely be caught because of how their and your name is formatted,
and hit with the ban hammer!++3: game basicsmovementRedspot is one of the few games that supports full on 3d movement. That is, a full 360 degrees walk around system plus a height system. Their coords are 60, 60, 60, 260, 60 460, 260, 60, 260, 260, 260 460, 460, 60, 460, 260, and 460, 460.
At coordinates 645, 501, there is a breach within these steps that allows you to walk through. This brings you into a stony area located under the grassy one.Movement keys.move forward: up arrow.move backward: down arrow.climb: page up or page down.move right: right arrow.Move left: left arrow.turn left: hold shift q.turn right: hold shift e.turn to previous left 45 degree angle: q.turn to next right 45 degree angle: e.check coordinates: c.check direction facing: f.use camera: hold g, then move the camra by using the arrow keys and page up/down.check tile camera is on     activate the camera and press t.4: misc keys.the function row can give you other information.show players online: f1.
