Re: New Horizons, space combat and trading game

@cyco,  I'm not sure what you mean by "other games out there that are like this one", since there are! no other accessible games out there like this one . The closest we've had were the smugglers series and star traders, but both of those were turn based. this game is entirely real time, you fly your ship in detail, you need quick reactions to fight etc, which makes the trading and mining and such much more interesting. As to Freeman69's other games, Echo quadrent is a space exploration game true, but there you control lots of ships in fletes and the game is entirely turn based (plus its one I've never been too successful at), whilst Treasure islands is a quick arcade/adventure game about navigating round a map in detail. Its pretty cool for what it is but its scope is by nature limited. This however is entirely new, both for Freeman69 and for the audiogames market, its our first real time space trading game, and I believe our first detailed real time space sim as well not counting muds, so is pretty damn awesome! Then again I might just be saying that since I have bought a  gecko, and am currently slaughtering my way around the galaxy between picking up riches from robot mines .

What game is this? Does it have a standalone server application that's preferably command line based? I can't host games that require one person to actively host. That is impossible and isn't ideal. This setup is intended for games that connect to a server and let players create and join games managed by the server program. What port does it use?By the way, I really! want a Crazy Party server program! If Mason can host a central server for SBYW and the program is coded in BGT, surely this can be done.

Mixer vs. Twitch: What's the difference?

Hi.I don't remember if there has been any previous discussions about this. What are exactly the differences between Mixer and Twitch? I have watched streams on both planforms, mostly Twitch. I haven't streamed myself on any of those platforms yet. Mixer seems to be translated into more languages, and some parts seems easier to navigate. But it would be interesting to hear if any of you who are streaming knows more about those differences between those two platforms.

Thunderbird becoming sluggish on windows 10

Hello everyone, so I've had this issue for a while now, I am running Mozilla Thunderbird on a windows 10 machine with 4GB ram and a quad core I5 processor, approximately 3 to 4 years old, for some weeks now, when ever I open Thunderbird, it becomes very slow, when, for example I press the arrow keys or tab, it takes a few seconds to respond, but as soon as I exit the app or the window, everything returns to normal, also keep in mind, that I have a lot, and I mean a lot of mail in my account, and I can't just clear the cash, otherwise I would lose some important e-mails, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get rid of the sluggishness? Thanks and kind regards.

I spoke to him about it, and we came to the following solution:First I'll make a gaming category in english, and send out a direct link to the guide. Then, you can click the english category to see the english content in the future.Later on, we will make an english section on the site for easier navigation.

Re: New Horizons, space combat and trading game

As far as mining goes, first you need a mining laser, this doesn't come with the worm by default that you start with so you need to buy one, or start with another ship. Second ask for directions to the local asteroid field, it'll likely be one or two jumps away. When you have the directions and your auto pilot is on, you'll hear your ship turning and be told when to jump do this with the p key. When the asteroid field is ahead, fly into it and look for asteroids. If you have the radar (again the worm doesn't come with this by default), you'll hear near by objects as a honking sound in the sterrio field, if not, then turn around until you scan an asteroid then let fly with your laser by pressing the I key, center the targeting sound to fire accurately. most asteroids will split into meteors when you hit them so you'll need to target the meteors and hit them again. after you shoot a meteor you'll either have left behind some valuable cargo you can pickup like gold, cobalt or lithium, or a rock. if its a rock, just blast it, but if its cargo then fly to it and pick it up. Nebula mining is even easier, just ask directions to the local nebula then simply fly around and pickup anything that isn't methane. As to mission directions, I'm only just trying out the missions myself so I'm not sure how they work, I'm just doing the one with the missing scientist, though mostly it seems the majority of the game is concerned with gathering resources  and either pirating or getting bounties so I've kept the missions until I was sure what I'm doing. I'm now saving up enough cash for a gekko ship.

Re: The End of Men

If and when you analyze my previous post, here's a really great question to ask yourself:So you say there need to be winners and losers. Fine, okay. Social stratification. Let's allow it.So why is the proportion of "losers" so often skewed toward people who are non-white, non-male, non-heterosexual? Why is it that straight white men do not make up a proportionally representative slice of that group which falls below the "loser line"?Obviously straight white men sometimes do fall through the cracks and end up on the bottom somewhere. It happens, and it's going to keep on happening. But why does it so often seem that it's black people, women, Latinx people, gay people, who are getting the short end of the stick? And before you cite numbers, please remember something. Saying something like "three million straight white men fit this category, vs. only one million black women": that word "proportional" is very, very important. If you fail to account for it, you're going to come off looking very silly.I used to believe in social stratification to some extent. if you work really hard, you get more money, and this accords you more power. Fine, I thought. And then I realized the thing I just pointed out. That many, many people who are naturally part of a minority seem to struggle far harder than the rest, on average. And it got me to realize something. This whole idea of winners and losers is nothing more than a social construct. It exists in this form primarily to justify the continued existence of an in-group and an out-group. Alt-rights love this sort of thing, and centrists and more moderate right-wingers don't fully understand or accept it most of the time. It allows the alt right, in particular, to say, "Yeah, well, you're a loser. You don't fit in, and here's why", and then trump up some reason to justify the claim. Women aren't fit to be police officers because they're not as big and strong as men. It's okay to get stopped on the street if your skin is dark because there are dark-skinned terrorists out there just waiting to explode people. Being gay is a sin, because...well, because God says so, and because we all know that if homosexuality gets around, it'll destroy the human race. It's okay that poor people don't have the same access to public services because they obviously made bad life choices to explain their poverty; if they try really, really hard, they'll succeed. Each and every argument is bullshit; oversimplified, self-aggrandizing bullshit. Ironcross, I really and truly hope you are not one of the people towing this particular party line.

Re: I need help, again!

Yeah, you messed up, and I'm honestly not sure where you went wrong with this one. I think, however, that you are over-complicating things. When I run your cipher and add a chr() call, I get back bytes (yes, literal Unicode sequences).Edit: actually, your quite close. A source I found used a string of characters to hold all the translatable symbols, and did something quite similar to what your doing. They didn't constrain it to the alphabet, either: they constrained it to the characters " !"#$%&'()*+,-./0123456789:;<=>?@ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ[\] ^_`abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz{|}~". Furthermore, they scanned the keys used, and aborted if either (1) the first key was one, (2) the second key was zero, (3) the first or second keys were less than zero or the second key was greater than the size of the symbol table minus one, or (4) the key and the size of the symbol table were not relatively prime. (All of those are weaknesses and measures should be in place to forbid them.) Furthermore, instead of dividing the key into two separate parameters, the version I'm looking at split the two keys into two separate, distinct entities, then analyzed those halves. During the encryption process, the version looped through the message, determined if it was in the symbol table, and encrypted it. If it wasn't, it did something a bit different. During the decryption process, the version located the mod inverse of the first part of the key and the size of the symbol table, iterated through the enciphered message, and inverted the encryption if and only if the character that was examined was in the symbol table. Finally: as you don't need this method, I'll disclose what the version also did: it allowed you to generate a random, secure key. It did this by (1) infinitely generating key portions between the range 2-length of symbol table, (2) determining if the first key portion and the size of the symbol table were relatively prime, and (3) if they were relatively prime, it returned the first key times the size of the symbol table plus the second keys portion. If they didn't match, it continued generating a key until it returned a relatively prime result. I'm not giving any code like you asked, if you want to implement such a mechanism yourself.

I'm going to bump this topic back up to comment on a couple of things, and give a few more recommendations of podcasts I've stumbled across in the past few months.First, Disgraceland's third season is coming out on February 12, and I'm stoked! The lineup, from the hints that are being dropped on Twitter, looks amazing.Second, I tried to get into Cocaine and Rhinestones, but the host sounds like such a pompous shitbag that I'm honestly having trouble with it. Which is a shame, because it really is fascinating. I listened to the first two episodes, but he grates on my nerves. I did find out earlier today that he's involved in another podcast called Your Favorite Band Sucks, which I listened to, and thought to myself, "ah, he's right at home here, ripping on popular music." In that context, I don't mind him so much, but when he's doing serious deep dives on a subject I'm actually interested in, I get way too distracted. So, what have I been listening to lately? Well, I've finally gotten my butt in gear and started listening to Myths and Legends, and I love it. I would say that even people who don't think they're into that kind of thing will find something to like about this podcast. The recent three-part series on the original story of The Jungle Book was particularly excellent, as was King of the Mountain. There's also Box of Oddities, which is a podcast where a husband and wife duo dredge up stories about weird historical events, or even talk about little-known places or animals. For example, do you know what a stink bird is? Odds are, you don't, but you might find out if you listen to that podcast. Then there's Science Vs., which is a bit like Skeptoid that I recommended above, but is a bit more informal and less academic than that, and doesn't impose any limitations on how many of the shows you can listen to. I learned that essential oils are basically bullshit, and mainly provide a placebo effect, while the war on whether antidepressants work or not is still going strong and shows no signs of stopping, due to a lot of hair-splitting about statistical success rates and the scales that are used to measure them, among other things. What podcasts have you all been listening to lately?

Re: New Horizons, space combat and trading game

As regards combat, you don't seem to avoid enemy fire, hence why staying still, blasting and then running a little way to pick up loot works. The problem usually is that fugetives jump in faster than I can kill them which means I tend to have to leave loot behind, even in low danger systems. While I still think the aggression is a bit serious, its at a point now where I can at least get cash for bounties and shoot up a few ships if I get tired of mining. As regards stars and fuelling, I discovered something quite interesting, namely you don't have to move at all. Once you hear that ponk ponk sound, your ship is automatically getting refuelled, so you might as well just sit still and wait then turn straight  and fly out again. I would love to do an audio demo, but the problem is headphones are %100 necessary and I don't have a way of recording on headphones, but I can see about putting together a textual guide when I've tried more of the game. As regards donations, its possibly something you could sort out with Eric, heck he's done an awesome job too and I'd be more than happy  he also got some of what I donated.as regards technologies, since the game is freeware and any donations would be on a purely voluntary business, I don't really see that it's there affair, some other of our developers have already used a donation model  has been fine and as I said I'll be more than happy to contribute, as I think would others.

If you fail to account for it, you're going to come off looking very silly.

Re: The End of Men

Being a professional athlete takes a ton of physical aptitude, and I can respect the people who devote their lives to it even if I don't wholly understand the appeal. I like sports to some extent (baseball and hockey, in that order), but I'm not a rabid sports fan. I also don't think athletes need to be making millions of dollars a year when we have so many people in the world who simply don't have enough.Which brings me really neatly back to something you said awhile back, Ironcross. You talk of a world where in order for there to be winners, there have to be losers. In order for there to be rich people, there have to be poor people.Okay. In a strictly Darwinian sense, some people just can't make the cut. I will allow this, for the nonce. But the problem is that the line beneath which you're a "loser" or a "poor person" is not necessarily reasonable. It is not actually based on measurable merit, and is instead constructed by capitalism and the ideals around which said system is based. Look at the number of hours a person has to work in a year just to stay alive. Look at the wage gap (yup, still exists, sorry-not-sorry to mention that and bring it up). Look at the cost of things vs. the amount a person makes. Look at all the social situations which often stop otherwise deserving people from getting where they want to go or from obtaining what they need. Central to the philosophy you espouse is the tenet that if you're poor, or a loser, you probably earned it somehow. Well, it's really easy to say that if you're a part of the dominant group, and I believe you mostly are. Do women deserve to get lesser pay because they're women, and do they deserve to have to work harder to get the same promotions that men do for less effort? Because that's still happening. Do people of colour deserve the scorn they still get, since rasism is most sincerely not dead in America? Is it fair that their references and resumes and stuff often have to be actively better than, not just equal to, their white peers? Do homosexuals deserve to be persecuted for their choice of a partner, by businesses and organizations who refuse to cater to them? Because all of these things can and do contribute to poverty and well-being, and by your own admission you think there have to be losers out there. I think if you really sit back and pull this apart, you'll see how heinous this mindset is.Picture, for just a moment, a world where everyone has their basic needs met. Everyone's got food, shelter, clean water and safe living conditions. Everyone has at least comparable access to stuff like education and health care (it'll never be 100% the same, but let's say it's close). Gender, sexual orientation and skin colour are no longer designations to be used in the stratification of society. Do you actually believe that all competition would disappear? Because I promise you, it wouldn't. There'd still be an active drive to do well, and in some cases to compete. Humanity has proven over and over that it isn't just going to go fallow and stop working if its basic needs are met. In fact, the quality of work done may sharply increase, since there is no longer crippling financial pressure to perform. People will be able to deliberate more, to go where they are strong instead of where they are forced to go by circumstance. People will be able to pursue higher education. Higher education generally correlates to greater ability to think critically. Greater critical thinking means more social innovation, more invention, more equable outcomes. This is win-win. I fail to see your problem with this scenario. And before you quote scarcity of resources, please, please, please do some research. Obviously my scenario isn't gonna happen tomorrow, or even next decade, but it's possible.

Re: The End of Men

I've never heard of it either. I really, really hope I doesn't get too popular (I like it when evolution does all of that for me, makes it more of a surprise). If we start selecting the genders of our children, it'll progress to us fully bio-engineering our children soo enough, which would be horrifying. I mean, you could create intellectual geniuses. You could completely undermine and destroy the universal balance, of sorts. But I digress. Jade, I get your point, I really do. And I can see where your coming from. And I dislike how the men get to get away with bullshit like that without any form of punishment. What do sports have to do with rape, sexual assault, murder, and the numerous other crimes that are illegal? Why do we take sports so damn seriously anyway? They're fucking games, for fucks sake. They're not real life. They don't dictate reality. Games are governed by rules. Games are governed by judges. Games are created by people. Oh, right... and their judged and ruled by people too. I've always wondered about that. And god forbid you dare actually ask that question around people actually interested in sports; they'll look at you and act like its the end of the world if you take away sports. Its disgusting, really it is. I mean, OK: I get the attachment to games. I can see how games can be addictive -- we've got many, and I've played many. But just because we are attached to a game doesn't mean that those games should influence the very things that make this country stable enough to live in. I know, I ranted about something entirely unrelated, but I needed to get that out of my system, because every time I here people praising sports as though they're gods gifts to man, and every time I here the (most likely illegal) bullshit sports teams and managers do, and every time I here things like this (sports influencing court cases and such), I always wonder to myself why I should even bother making anything I create public to the masses if said masses are so damn stupid. And I'm sorry if I insulted a lot of people, I didn't mean to, but yeah, I needed to write that down somewhere.

I updated to the latest wersion with no issues. Not quite sure what was going on there, but I must've missed it all.Funnily enough I determined that if you're level 250 or so and stay on the ground for Clear Burn, you can actually live. Not by much, but I did it. And I whacked all the bosses to death with the cat spear in like 3 hits. lol

Re: The End of Men

Here's some reading for those of you who don't want to take my word for it. Both links will lead you to further reading, if you want to. I'll summarize really quickly below the links.https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-45565684https://web.stanford.edu/group/maan/cgi … age_id=297Basically, less than 40% of actual sexual violence is reported. Of that, approximately half of the accusations result in prosecution, and less than ten percent are proven demonstrably false. Of that less-than-ten-percent number, studies show that most of those were from teenage girls, and probably with the consent of the parent. Interestingly, the teenage brain is not yet fully developed, so while I am not going to tell you that this means false accusations are okay under any circumstances, I'm going to suggest that it complicates the issue. So let's break this down, just for fun.Let's say we have a list of a thousand assaults (just indulge me for a moment, let me play with numbers). Of the total of a thousand assaults that happened, approximately four hundred will be reported. Of those, approximately two hundred will lead to criminal action. Of the four hundred reported, let's say five percent, or twenty cases, are blatantly and demonstrably false. That is approximately twenty false alligations for every one thousand cases of sexual violence, and I'm just using clean numbers and uncomplicated metrics to give you a gauge on how it really looks. So again, we won't pretend that's okay when it happens. But let's face the facts. Due to various reasons (societal shaming, disbelief, apologism, etc), approximately six hundred cases of sexual violence out of a thousand will go unreported...and of those reported, around half will not result in prosecution. That's approximately eighty percent. Isn't it scary? And when I look at two percent vs. eighty percent, I know which number scares me more. Even if all true reports of sexual violence led to prosecution, which we know they don't, we're still looking at roughly sixty-five percent of crimes of sexual violence going unreported and ultimately unpunished. Again, ask yourself if the number of false claims looks so scary now. If you really do view women as equals, then it's morally bankrupt to stick to your guns on this one.

I love my Pixel phone!

Hello all,I received my 2016 model Pixel a couple of days ago and love it. The only issue I've encountered is rapid battery drain which appears to be caused by Android Pie. I've downgraded to 8.1.0 Orio using the factory image and it appears to solve the issue. What Android apps do you guys recommend? I'm looking for a better onscreen keyboard. I hate the touch type keyboard that it comes with. Can I get one that behaves more like the standard typing mode of the iOS keyboard where you find a letter and double tap to activate it? Are there any useful fingerprint apps I should get? How about games? I have Audio Archery, Dice World, and Race Together which I can't figure out. i'll also install that NVDA Remote app.

Re: The End of Men

Women are often characterized as being more emotionally aware, or more manipulative if you like. This is beneficial as well as troublesome, however. It means that they often negotiate a little better, and try to seek nonviolent and nonaggressive solutions to problems. But no, I'm not going to argue your point there, Defender. I accept it, even if I don't ascribe a ton of heft to it.But thank you for the rest of it. I do agree that some harassment cases I've heard of are...well, stretchy as hell, to say the very, very least. It's natural that this should happen sometimes, but still upsetting. But yeah, I'd warrant that the fair or strong majority of harassment cases are completely legitimate, whether in the workplace or elsewhere. Thank you for recognizing the relative importance of the things I'm trying to discuss here. And I totally agree with you re: "The End of Men" being clickbait and a rather slimy way to try and talk about this issue.Interestingly, I had never heard of this gender-choosing thing before this morning. Not once. That should tell you how overwhelmingly popular it is.

also, I thought I'd keep up a running sort of minor thing on some of the other features that come out since we have the game for the most part now and can play.In addition to the accessibility improvements to the game, there have been a couple more changes that caught my eye with the latest update as well.1. you can now get your tubes tied or have a vascectomy, the first I imagine will be very helpful as my last character kept having kids over and over again out of my control.2. you can now change your first name if you get a sex change.3. you can now choose to change your name or not when you get married (depending on country, whatever that means) or divorced.4. you can now steal cars when you commit crimes.5. you can now hire lawyers to defend you in court should you be arrested.6. by going to the movies, if you watch comedies or documentary films, you can  increase some stats, the second kind can boost your intelligence.7. haven't seen what it means, but the achievement system has changed somehow.I'll be back when some other stuff happens.

Re: The End of Men

Yeah, I'm working on that knee jerk reaction too, thanks to too much anti SJW fervor that was starting to turn me into an unreasonable asshole.Women are, in fact, generally better at manipulating, the communications centers of their brains are bigger and more utilized and the evolutionary response from men is to protect them while that of women is to group together, so this makes perfect sense and is pretty indisputable at this point, plus, if you can't see it your self, talk to most more mature women and they'll be able to see right through the bullshit and tell you that it's a common tactic, especially with younger females.sexual assault/domestic abuse stats are so astronomically in favor of the female and have been for all of human history, that even with the bias against males (depends on the region and generation) and the likely lack of reporting (same issue with legitimate claims and only just starting to get better) those (admittedly very scary and fucked up) cases of males being falsely accused may as well be a blip on the radar.Doesn't take a genius to observe it for them selves either. So yeah that power is terrifying, but very rarely used, and that's just in the developed world where you actually have a chance. With abuse/sexual assault victims of either gender almost always being terrified of coming forward after threats of reprisal from the aggressor, not to mention the brutal but necessary cross examination and in depth questions about already traumatic  events in court, if someone comes forward and sticks to their story even through that hell, than their is a vanishingly small chance they are lying and most courts will pick it up quickly when they are.Even outside of the court where simply saying something happened can turn everyone against your target, particularly if your more popular/trusted than they are, it's still a pretty dangerous prospect even if some climates are more open to it, since your almost bound to have some backlash regardless and need to keep up the act for a while even around your closest family, and not many people are really capable of spinning that to their advantage.Relatively recent breakthroughs in gene based forensics in the developed world though have been making it harder and harder to bullshit without being pretty damn smart and dedicated, which isn't a trait of many people. So in short you need to be A. in a place where you'll be more likely to be believed. B. seen as more trustworthy than your target and C. Dedicated enough and good enough at acting/manipulating to fool a bunch of lawyers and police over a significant span of time. You want to talk about sexual harassment claims in the workplace? Sure, that's a much better case especially in some jobs/regions, and I don't like this current climate any more than the next guy... But it's still an utterly meaningless discussion on the global scale, since the massive majority of women in this world still have shit for rights anyway.Plus, I'm still willing to believe that even with all the corporate PR bullshit and media bias, at least half the women who are brave enough to come to HR about it despite the danger of losing their job (same exact thing that falsely accused males are afraid of mind you) are telling the truth, just based on the honest and reasonable sounding accounts of women I've been reading and how fucking immature young people are, particularly males since they develop even slower.

Re: The End of Men

Ethin:What I'm trying to tell you is that the trend you are attempting to highlight is nowhere near as bad as it looks. Remember that when you do hear of women lying to tarnish a man's reputation, it's going to be broadcast in such a way as to make it a big deal. And of course it -is a big deal. But you know what -isn't being broadcast in quite the same way? All the hundreds of thousands of claims that were true. All those times that women claimed sexual violence, and were right. Part of this is a culture which still has a very strong male power base. Part of this is just a simple fact, that we rarely hear of all the times the justice system gets it right (or any other system, for that matter). But please, give me a little faith here. I'm not just blindly spouting propaganda. I study these things. I'm planning to be a social worker, and I've done a lot of the homework so you and others like you don't have to bother. If I tell you that women lying to smear a man isn't common, it's because, compared to the number of times their claims are justified entirely, I'm right, and it's true. No one who lies outright about having a crime committed against them should get the time of day. I'm with you on that one. And we aren't talking about blaming the accused without proof. We're talking about pursuing the facts. If a woman shows up at a hospital with bruises on her face and a dazed look in her eyes, and says that her uncle Billy Bob raped her, she should be taken seriously. She probably didn't put those bruises on herself. She should, if she's willing, be rape-kitted. Her bruises should be analyzed in order to see what sort of violence befell her (hands, fists, fingers, feet, shoes, ropes, etc). And BillyBob should be investigated. Quietly. No one needs to ruin his life at this point, but there needs to be some sort of investigation. At this stage of the game, BillyBob has two basic issues. If he's innocent, then surely the evidence will exonerate him. If he's guilty, that fucker needs to be punished.Oh, and speaking of punishments, I want you to chew on some stuff. Did you know that sometimes - less often now, but it still happens - men who rape or commit violence, and who have positions of power, often either get away with it entirely, or have their sentences commuted? I have heard many stories where a lawyer tries to defend their client by saying something like, "Your Honour, you can't send Jimmy to jail for twenty years. He's in his second year of a football scholarship. You'll ruin his career.". Why is this even being tolerated for a hot second? Can you imagine the sort of outrage a woman might feel if, it having been proved that Jimmy did in fact assault or rape her, that someone is trying to get him clemency because of his power in the world? What the hell does his life have to do with the fact that he basically ruined hers? This is the sort of toxic masculinity we're talking about when we get into it. Men are still operating from a position of power in a lot of cases. Not all cases, and that power isn't as big as it used to be, but it's still there. So I just want you to think about things for a moment, the pair of you. I understand that you have a serious problem with people being falsely accused or tarnished. I do too. And I sorta take your point about a liar getting a sentence for lying and trying to ruin someone's life...though we should take that for all crimes, but if we did, we'd have already-overworked prisons bursting at the seams. But in the same breath, if it is proved that a man beats, assaults or rapes someone, I'd argue that he should get the maximum sentence. There is no excuse, ever, at any time, for raping anyone, regardless of your feelings or your gender. And for the record? Yes, women can and do commit sexual violence against both men and other women sometimes. Not nearly so often as do men against women, but it does happen and I recognize it.Just take a breath here, the two of you. Remember that every time you say "not all men" or "yeah but women lie", you are actually proving my point for me. You are buying into a narrative that lets you make it someone else's fault. You are missing the point of the "me too" movement. You are missing the point of feminism as it truly is, and substituting a paranoid and half-extremist version of it instead. I am not asking you to ignore the plight of wronged men, and I'm not asking you to aelieve all women without doubt and without fail. What I -am asking you to do is truly reflect on the sort of mindset which makes you do what you're doing and say what you're saying. It took me weeks to come to terms with it, but hell, if I can do it, so can you, and I entreat you to try.

They may be pretty crap at first but so is everyone... And even if just two or three go far with it we could end up with the next generation of audiogaming heavyweights. The problem lies in that he's trying to learn code quickly, and more so that his goal is to use this source, which from everyone who's looked at it so far seems to be complete junk.Everyone is telling him that he should not use it but he refuses to listen, and I worry that if he tries he'll lose the will to learn coding.

Re: New Horizons, space combat and trading game

I think it's perfectly reasonable for you to take a break for a while Freeman, just write down people's main issues and patch it when your able, no need to fix everything right now.Sad about the donation thing, but makes sense. I bet you Eric would be fine with that but Firelight maybe not, assuming they ever even noticed...I would just like to say that I really appreciate the addition of a learn game sounds and command reference, not to mention the sound moddability is a huge plus!I also think that the ability to make other ships go into hyperspace against their will, and how fueling from stars work are both very neat systems.Seems like the main issues right now would be how aggressive other ships are even when you aren't doing much wrong, a need for more clarification/expansion in the documentation (for instance the acronyms and shorthand names), some left over unused elements that should be taken out because their confusing, some keys that should need to be held down or a confirm dialog inserted to avoid accidental activation, and some missing sounds that would be nice to have, like collecting crates or different ones for each laser, maybe some category based port background soundsOn a side note, I find it kinda odd how you can use overdrive with no penalty. Maybe if your ship started out with a certain amount of energy, separate from fuel, and moving at a slow speed would barely put a dent in it, medium speed a bit and high speed more so but overdrive would use quite allot rather quickly, and it would regenerate over time? That way you could use shorter sprints but overuse would be impossible, just an idea though...

notice how they hit you with 100% accuracy? That's not kosher. Staying still, not sure how that would help, you have to turn to face them if you want to shoot them down. I've been taking the approach of minding my own business, I'm not starting stuff with people, just trying to grind and make money. But, it doesn't really matter what I'm hauling, how much I'm hauling, or even if I have anything at all in my holds, its all the time. After a 17 sector journey, my hull was at 5%I had to give up today. I got put in a situation where all the planets and moons were uninhabited, I was running, three sectors in a row had fugitives right off the gate, so I ran myself out of fuel. Neutron stars don't have scoopable fuel, and that was the only star in the system. There was an asteroid field, a moon, a planet, no stations, and a nebula. I had literally no other option. Which brings me to this question, let's say you're in that situation, is it possible to ever reach the next sector using your overdrive? Like, is that a thing you could do if you had to?

Hi. I had the same issue about 2 years ago when playing Rhythm Heaven Fever myself, although I am using dolphin v4 for the mac, so I am not sure how close this information is, but for the first few hours, I was stuck to using a USB optical mouse because that's what the A and B buttons are assigned to for some reason. But, from what I remember, in the controler mapping dialog for each button, there are a series of butttons like, + plus. & And. |  Or. -  Delete. I had to click the delete button on each one, then click the plus button, type in a capital letter for what I wanted mapped, like X or Z, then clicked apply. The last item in the dialog should now say, bowned controls, 1. And then you click OK. To access this screen in the first place, you have to right click on the control you want mapped, if I  remember correctly. I hope some of that helped... Also, one more thing that came to my mind, Maybe controler setting ini files, or whatever they are,  can be transferred between computers? I should stil have mine around.

Re: Help with the dolphin emulator

I found this controler profile. It also has buttons for player 2 assigned so you can play the two player games with one keyboard. Problem is, it links to the internal keyboard of my macbook as a device. I don't know if just deleting that, or loading it would work. You put this into your dolphin/config directory, not sure what that is in Windows, maybe just the folder where the executable is... https://www.dropbox.com/s/cijds9fgyr68v … w.ini?dl=1

Well that would be cool. This is kinda fun following its development because I've always wondered how synthesizers were developed. If you ever want to branch into other languages, I'm sure you'd have many helpers here.

The way to fix it is to reset all mapped settings (there is a button in the controller configuration dialog) and reassign everything from scratch.

Re: I need help, again!

Right, I think this is how the affine cipher works.Code goes below, again, replace the > with spaces.def affine(a, b, c):>message2 = "">for i in c:>>x = ord(i)>>message2+=str((a*x+b)%26)>return message2I'm sure it's broken in a way, but oh well. Now, suppose that I want to get the original string of text back. Here's a problem. I can't. Not because I'm not able to code in the method, I probably can, but because this code will spill out a bunch of numbers, like so.Input: affine(3, 5, "I am a good boy, right?")output: 162310202310232001923130472398251512Cool, right? What a giant hot mess. So, here is my main question: The way I pictured this working was adding a character that adds itself to the string, so instead of message2+=str((a*x+b)%26), we could have message2+=" "+str((a*x+b)%26). In this case, the special character that would seperate the letters would be space. My issue comes when I would create a loop, the i would equal space and python will convert the thing instead of simply ignoring it.Don't provide the code, just talk it out with me, please. Could we do a for loop with range and i increasing by 2 instead? Would we simply scrap the for loop and use a while one with it checking for the equality of the 2 string's length? Or is the cipher only meant for single letters, not words, and I am over complicating things again?

Re: Help with the dolphin emulator

I don't think it works that way on windows. When you go into the config dialogue for the chosen controller, you get a bunch of buttons that are already assigned. usually when you press those buttons, next you're supposed to press the button you want assigned to that action. The thing is, i can't even do that. When i press enter or space, left click, or try any other kind of interaction on the buttons, it simply does nothing. I did manage to get into a dialogue that talked about bound controls by hitting an unlabeled button, but I couldn't assign any keys in there either.

Re: Help with the dolphin emulator

To access this screen in the first place, remember correctly. I hope some of that helped... Also, one more thing that came to my mind, Maybe controler setting ini files, or whatever they are,  can be transferred between computers? I should stil have mine around.

Re: The End of Men

So its OK for women to wield the power to literally ruin lives, not just professional lives, but lives. Because well, they technically made lynching illegal, but it still happens. Not with rope, but with dirty stares, shouting and yelling, and campaigns against the person on mainstream media. I don't propose to treat women as liars right off the bat. Not only is that not fair, but it goes against the 6th amendment of the constitution. The trouble is, everyone's wrapped up in this judge first, ask questions later mentality that honestly I feel very strongly stems from the left. To combat this, we verify the claim. My stance is simple, I think man or woman, if you lie about any crime, not just sexual ones, but any crime where you accuse another party, and it can be proven you've knowingly done so, you should receive the same punishment as the potential convict would have. In fact, I would like to see it be the maximum sentence for that punishment allowed under the law.I would like for people to actually regain the power of thought. A lot of people have actually, the walk away movement has gained in popularity, you can see the stories on youtube. The media is fueling the anger, because it makes good news, its good TV. So we have people who see this stuff on TV and get outraged immediately.I want good things for women. I don't want to see them be raped or have to deal with violence in their lives. But since I"m ont a woman (my brother might claim otherwise), I identify more strongly with the problems facing men. The fact that a lot of single mothers out there are raising boys I feel is a problem. They don't learn what it means to be a man, that's a father's job. It takes both parents though. The father teaches boys how to be boys, while the mother sort of keeps their heads on straight. And sure you have mama's boys and daddy's girls, and that's totally fine, but you know they've each still got things to learn from their parent of the opposite sex. This is a dynamic that's worked for at least a millennium, but now the world is rapidly changing. So I get a little upset about hearing terms like toxic masculinity, when so much of what I see out there is toxic feminity.

Help with the dolphin emulator

Hi, I tried to get the dolphin emulator running to play rhythm heaven on. However when I launch the game using the emulator, I can't use the keys I mapped for a and b to start the game. i can only press enter to pause. The thing is, my configuration was set up right, I have my controller in slot 1 set to standard controller, and that configuration is set up the way i want it to be. I tried looking on the dolphin forums, but no one seems to have the problem I'm having.
