Wow, I was thinking about trying this, especially with that nice sale, but Jesus fucking Christ GOG is a shitty website with pathetically low WCAG compliance for such a big company.I don't like the idea of not being able to disable annoying marketing or improve security, hell I can't even find where to log out.  This does not give me confidence that the client will be even somewhat usable.Clearly, people are using it though and I don't want to miss out, but are you guys sure that GOG is even better than Steam?  Because if this is considered better than Steam was even worse than I thought.

why space mission will not be dropping on the 15th

2020-06-13 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : rory-games via Audiogames-reflector

why space mission will not be dropping on the 15th

hi all,I'm going to start this off by saying that I probably will not be releasing any games for the next year or so, and that will most likely include space mission. The reason for my decision is quite simple: school. Now, throw what you will at me about abandonment, but I honestly need to direct all my attention toward school and real life stuff at this point.I want to practice coding in private until I can reliably make very complex things and the frequency of me putting stuff down becomes very rare. For similar reasons, I will probably be retiring from my youtube channel as well.I'm really sorry for all the people looking forward to space mission and the sound designers who helped with space mission and all the people that helped me code it. It's not right to abandon it; it's not right to abandon anything, but I feel like I need to get on the right track with school and doing that is going to take all my energy and effort away from me.This is part of the reason for all my past projects getting discontinued - I'd have this little couple of weeks like a holiday or some period of time where I was so overwhelmed I just couldn't do anything other than sit down at the chair, open up my lap top and code; it would come to an end a few weeks later for one reason or another, and I'd go back to school, not be able to code much, and the holidays would come round and I would've practically forgotten why I even started the project.I also have taken to being extremely competitive with my coding; releasing simple things for a bit of praise to get me a little happier and then, of course, it would end up that some to most people wouldn't like it and it would all go down hill again. Perfect example -- the play center.I grew to code for only the user karma to go up and would seithe every time someone else got complimented about their projects, thinking it was unjust and being extremely narcistic.I've done so much wrong that I just can no longer trust myself anymore and with school coming back into play it's just going to get more and more difficult.I stress that this is not just another one of my empty words topics about leaving and about how the form was ungrateful and bla bla bla.I don't really want to seek attention by making this, I just want to let people know what's going on.Thanks for your understanding - rb studios, signing out.

As amerikranian mentioned, even if the files are allin the same folder, python has to consider it the current working directory. If you run the script from C: by writing "C:\folder\myscript.py", then C: would be the working directory, not the folder conrtaining your scripts.

Re: Animation, OBS, accessibility, etc

I was looking something similar up earlier actually. There are ways to add audio to avi files, with ffmpeg, moviepy, or mhmovie, as discussed [here] and [here]. The bigger pain is that adding mp3 encoded audio involves using things like ffmpeg, though with moviepy you can apparently switch to vorbis encoding. Animation is generally frame by frame, which can be annoying, though there are usually tools that help people manage workflow and layering for animation, etc. like [aseprite].I wasn't sure if things like OBS or windows movie maker were sufficient for doing things like accessible animation or film editing. For what its worth BrushTone does handle making gif animations, I'd intended to have a better tool available by now, not to mention more indepth guides for this kind of thing, but things being as they are. Perhaps I could patch in an AVI or compatible export option...

Re: I really don’t understand time signature

explanation from a musician who does this sort of stuff everyday, hopefully it helpsyup, I guess the slang term for it is bars, and the more proper term is measures.Notes have lengths, from long to sort, they are:a whole note, a half note, a quarter, an eight, a sixteenth, a thirty second, a 64th, a 128th, and even a 256thIf you notice, all of them are exact half  divisions of each other. So, a whole note is divided in two half notesA half note is divided into two quarter notes.A quarter is divided in two 8th notes. And so on.Of course, you can divide a whole note into 4 quarter notes, or one half note followed by two quarter notes and so on. Cutting a pie or a pizza into slices that have exactly the same shape, length and quantity is the yummy visual example given by everyone. These notes are represented in numbers that correspond to them in the case of time signatures, they are multiplied by two:1 is a whole note1 times 2 = 2 is a half note2 times 2 = 4 is a quarter note2 times 4 = 8 is an 8th note2 times 8 = 16 is a 16th noteand so on.So now, how to read time signatures? You have two numbers, as stated above. The first one tell you how many of these notes conform a musical measure or bar. The second one tells you the type of note you will use.So, in the 4/4 example (also called common time) you will use 4 quarter notes to build a complete musical measure. In 3/4 time you will use just three of them. Of course you can fill the bar in whichever way you like, for example put a half note followed by two quarter notes to fill up a 4/4 bar, or just one single whole note.Other time signatures exist, like 6/8 which I guess by now, you know it means you need a total of 6 8th notes to make up a musical measure. However we are getting a bit ahead, because these are known as compound time signatures and their rhythmic feel and pulse is different from 4/4 or 3/4. however, if you say you are getting into non western music you will have to come to grips to this, and also with other things that dictate the rhythmic and time feel of a musical piece which are not necessarily time signatures.of course there are ways to extend the durations of notes and there are also a few notes that are longer than the whole note, but these are rare nowadays and really used in Mensural Music which is from centuries ago. In fact, its really hard to come across a 128th note as well.

You'll need java, but to work around all of the accessibility fun with it and also just to code for phones in general you'll need a good bit of experience.  I'd suggest doing desktop java stuff first for a bit, then trying to make this transition. Others can probably provide more info specifically for Android, but in general phone tooling isn' tthe most accessible, and when it is it's not the most convenient to use for blind people.

Re: Mud Engine Advice

@5That's decidedly debatable.  Suffice it to say that while online creation is a great feature for quick development, you can't roll anything back or anything because none of the traditional programming tools apply, and I do think there's a reason that the LPC drivers see more interesting mechanics. You can see the deficiencies in something like Miriani: instead of a lot of interacting systems, you end up with a lot of very isolated pieces that interact minimally, and eventually the tech debt builds up without the tools in place to fix it and development slows way down or the project just falls over.In other words you trade off all the software engineering tools for immediately rewarding.  Maybe that's a trade-off worth making.  I've played fun moos. But it shouldn't be made blithely and it should be acknowledged, and you should go in knowing that this problem is eventually in front of you.

2020-06-13 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : turtlepower17 via Audiogames-reflector

Re: What do you think of this video?

I only have a couple of quick points to make here. First and foremost, I would argue that, rather than the protests being a result of the political climate, they are more intense than they might otherwise have been because people have been cooped up in their houses for the past few months, feeling helpless, angry, and a myriad of other emotions. So, yeah, people are going to take to the streets the first chance they can, if it helps them come to terms with their own crises and/or redirects their rampant anxieties and exestential woes. Does that mean that they pounced on this particular bandwagon because it was there? Of course not! At least, not anyone who's worth a damn. It does, however, mean that these people are more willing to double down, even when it means risking their health and safety, or the health and safety of loved ones, because fighting for something or someone you believe in can energize you like almost nothing else. Everyone's been itching for an escape, and this, unfortunate as the circumstance is, no doubt scratches that itch for many folks. In that regard, I wish that police wouldn't resort to flooding everything with tear gas, and that people would wear masks, but also, I can't really hate them. If not for the protests, what would these same people be doing? Probably something more destructive. If there does end up being a spike in cases due to the protests, it was inevitable that it was going to happen anyway as soon as strict shelter in place orders were lifted, because humans are innately selfish and common sense has gone the way of the dodo in most circles. To blame the protests alone for any resurgence in cases would be foolish, though the media may try to milk that angle.I wish that I could be optimistic and say that we're out of the woods in terms of new cases, or a second wave, but, until there's at least some hope for a proven treatment that will reduce the amount of pain and suffering caused by this virus, we basically have to live as cautiously as possible. Not only for the sake of ourselves and our loved ones, but for those who can't, or won't, take the bull by the horns and do what's right. I have more going for me than I've ever experienced. I've been offered a job that I'm going to start in a couple of weeks, I have a loving partner, and I'm feeling better in general about myself and my life than I think I ever have. What scares me is how easily that could all go to shit due to a bunch of microscopic particles. What scares me more is that, had things gone as terribly wrong as they could have for me a few months back, I'd be singing a completely different tune now. I probably wouldn't even be here, or, if I was, I would be in the deepest realms of despair. When I think about that, it's surreal--how I was on top of the world when the virus hit, then was rudely brought back down to earth when it personally affected me, and now, I have a new appreciation for and perspective on my life and how I want to live it due to what we went through. As for all this stuff about whether saying all lives matter is wrong, I find it incredibly sad that we need to split hairs about that. It really should go without saying that life is life and that it's all valuable. The fact that it needs to be analyzed under a microscope, and that these types of conversations usually only lead to arguments, leaves me shaking my head. Yes, in a perfect world, the blind wouldn't get the short end of the stick, and we would have similar levels of employment to our sighted counterparts. As a side note, someone mentioned earlier in the thread that those with cognitive or other types of physical disabilities continued to receive in-person services despite the lockdown. Well, perhaps they needed such services in order to live? most blind people can at least take care of themselves to an acceptable level without such stringent interventions, whereas someone with a more severe form of autism or a quadroplegic may not be so fortunate. I imagine that those who delivered in-home care to elderly people, some of the most vulnerable to the virus and its symptoms, had to wrestle with this fact, and it's not a position I'd envy. Do you let them deteriorate because you're not doing check-ins, or do you take the risk of transmitting the virus to them? I honestly can't even imagine that.Anyway, it doesn't help to say, "yeah, but this group has this right and that privilege, and we don't!" because it doesn't matter. I guess most people have a disadvantage in some way, since no one is perfect. If everyone realized that, stopped trying to cover up their flaws by projecting arrogance onto the world in order to hide the fact that they don't measure up to whatever standards society sets for us all, maybe that would be the key to stopping all the hatred, prejudice, and racism, because everyone would realize that what they see as wrongness in others is actually something they may dislike ab

Anyway, I'll bet if you google, there are other recipes with microwave directions. You'd want to do some more research in case heating and time changes the properties. If you aren't coming up with anything, let me know and I'll turn my obsessive researching dumbness on it and see what I can come up with.

Re: I really don’t understand time signature

2020-06-13 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : UltraLeetJ via Audiogames-reflector

However we are getting a bit ahead, because these are known as compound time signatures and their rhythmic feel and pulse is different from 4/4 or 3/4. however, if you say you are getting into non western music you will have to come to grips to this, and also with other things that dictate the rhythmic and time feel of a musical piece which are not necessarily time signatures.

I’ve been told that the computer login name is the same as the owner of the establishment.  Maybe I’m spelling it wrong, but I appear to be stuck. I also don’t get the auto completion list, which makes me suspect that I am missing some information, as the game is pretty nice and allows you to fill stuff in as long as you trigger required events.  A simple confirmation, whether I am missing something, would be nice.  I went through every computer and even ordered some drinks, no dice. They’re also do not appear to be any network connections in the list.  I don’t mind looking around, I just want to make sure that it’s not the issue of spelling here, as Microsoft David is terrible at providing information for guessing phonetics.

@Computergamer:In Manamon II, select online trading or online battles. Then select host room and type the name of the room you want to create. Press enter. Now, leave the game opened and give your room name to whomever you want to play with (over Skype/ Discord/ this forum etc). When they join it will say "John has joined" for example.Alternatively, if someone else has given you their room name, pick join room and type the name of the room you've been given. As for Stella, if you're getting to three beeps then you're more than halfway there. They get more and more powerful as you go, so even though it says she has 50 percent health remaining doesn't mean you're half way through in terms of rounds.

Thanks to some help from Aira, I was able to figure some extra things out.  I'm a bit behind in reading the topic but wanted to put this here before I forgot how to do it.If you're like me and you want to turn down the music in the game, here's how.Once the main menu is up you'll have continue, abandon run, compendium, statistics and settings.  So, go four down to settings and press A.  You'll have to do this with a controller, the keyboard won't work.Once in settings, you have game settings, input settings and credits, so A again for game settings. The options screen is broken up into four sections it looks like. So, to get over to the sound section, press right on the controller. This puts you on master volume.  One down is music, and you'll adjust the values by moving your right thumbstick to the left. Press B when you're done.A second thing I figured out was that if you leave the game out of full screen, OCR can help you a bit in where you are.  Their are no clicks in the options screen, so be careful.Master volumeMusic volume Effects volumeambient sound effectsmute while in backgroundAll set to 50 by default. If you don't want to do this from the main menu, press start on your controller during a run and you'll be directly in the options menu.Lastly, if you're going to stream to Twitch and want your viewers to have a say in how the run goes, check out the twitchkey file in steamapps/common/slaythespire.

I had an understanding of the first number, the bar, and the common 4 4 time signature. The second number was the one I was having trouble with when I first posted here. The reason why time signature is kind of important for me is because I’m going to be doing a lot of quantizing because quite frankly, I suck at playing things with proper timing. Because of this it's been an up hill Battle to get my musical ideas into a DAW. Since I’m going to be working with some non-western music, I’m probably going to encounter some strange time signatures.

Agree with 2. (Coding with Coffeemud is a pain in the ass, just saying.) Its not even optimized for the latest Java releases, so it doesn't take advantage of systems like the module system either. I'd go with LPC, though you'll need to write more code that way. But its far easier to hack on than Coffeemud is (at least, I think so), plus you shouldn't really ever have to touch the driver itself.

Re: My ZDSR arrived today, anyone wants me to present something?

From the Different From Business Addition page of the ZDSR Menu Capslock+Z (translated from Chinese to English):New 争渡读屏公益版基于争渡读屏商业版修改而来,与商业版相比,功能删改如下:1.不支持谷歌浏览器(Google chrome)或基于Chromium内核浏览器2.不支持笔记本键盘方案。开启笔记本键盘方案后,可在没有小键盘的键盘上使用读屏所有涉及到小键盘的功能3.不支持图像识别,包括本地OCR、在线OCR及物体识别。OCR识别是争渡读屏基于OCR光学字符识别技术给用户提供的OCR识别功能,以方便用户对于非文本项目的读取。通过该功能我们可对争渡读屏遇到的非文本的项目进行OCR识别,识别结束后我们就可参考识别结果进行相应操作。物体识别主要用于简单了解图片信息,识别结果仅供参考。4.不支持Windows 7及以上版本系统的声卡控制热键。争渡读屏在Windows 7以上版本的系统中提供了一套高效易用的声卡控制热键,利用这组热键,我们可以方便的调整播放设备、录音设备以及各个程序的单独音量,麦克风增强级别调整,选择默认播放设备等。5.不支持音频闪避功能。在Windows 8或Windows 10系统上,当读屏发音时可以自动降低其他正在播放窗口的音量,从而减少对读屏语音朗读的干扰。6.不支持争渡监视。争渡监视可自动或手动监视被操作对象的动态变化,支持后台监视,分为智能监视、元素监视和区块监视三种类型,应用于需要及时关注动态变化的情况,根据不同场景灵活选用,可以有效的提高操作的效率和便捷性。7.不支持争渡路标。路标是争渡读屏的特色功能之一,深受用户喜爱。它的创意来源于现实生活中的路标,通过给窗口内的元素或者点进行标记,从而达到扩大操作范围、提高操作效率的目的。结合元素浏览与OCR识别,让路标有了更广泛的应用。此外用户之间还可以通过路标市场相互分享自己的路标。8.不支持争渡标签,争渡标签可以给没有名称的元素加上标签,朗读的时候就可以按我们指定的标签来朗读了9.不支持争渡多剪贴板。包括剪贴板内容自动记录、本地收藏及云收藏。10. Office仅保留基本支持。商业版可支持表格朗读、按元素类型浏览,以及对文档中的排版信息进行详细朗读等。11.不支持读鼠标。读鼠标是争渡读屏针对低视力用户专门设计的功能,开启读鼠标功能之后,每当鼠标指针移动时,读屏会时时朗读出鼠标指针停留位置的文本信息,这样既最大限度上保留了与视力健全用户一致的操作习惯,又避免了低视力用户看不清楚屏幕上显示的文字而无法准确操作的尴尬,同时也起到了保护视力的作用。12.不支持争渡语音开放接口(ZD Open TTS API),此功能可让争渡读屏调用第三方开发的语音引擎。13.不支持 Sonar、Reaper 音乐制作软件。14.争渡鼠标导航中,不支持元素导航模式,只保留基本的控件导航,商业版可按ZDSR加小键盘加号键,切换导航模式。控件导航只保留空间顺序,不支持逻辑顺序。15.不支持高亮操作对象。该功能可以将访问到的焦点或操作到的对象四周边框进行突出显示,方便和其他人交流时展示读屏操作到的位置。16.不支持点显器。17.不支持争渡翻译包括实时翻译、剪贴板翻译、缓冲区翻译和选区翻译。18.不支持朗读历史。使用朗读历史可查看所有朗读过的内容,彻底解决了错过朗读内容无法重新查看的问题。19.不支持锁定键盘鼠标。该功能用于不在电脑旁又不想让他人使用电脑的情况。当离开电脑时,可将键盘鼠标锁定,还可以设置解锁密码。20.不支持屏幕隐私保护。该功能与手机上的屏幕变暗功能类似,可实现让电脑黑屏的效果,以保护隐私。21.不支持 Visual Studio 编程工具,商业版可完美的支持窗体设计器和代码编辑器,支持朗读智能提示、方法重载等。22.不支持 Android Studio 编程工具。Android Studio 提供了集成的 Android 开发工具用于开发和调试。23.不支持 Java程序的朗读。24.不支持 Notepad++ 等编辑器。25.命令行仅保留基本支持,不支持自动朗读结果、全文朗读等功能。26.不支持密码读法控制和密码音效。27.不支持进度栏自动提示,该功能用于实时了解进度栏变化,可选择语音播报或音效提示。28.不支持单词智能拆分功能,单词智能拆分可以将连在一起的单词拆成逐个单词朗读,类似于OneNote;不做拆分很多语音引擎会读的非常怪异难懂。29.朗读修正不支持正则表达式。30.不支持悬浮窗快速切换功能。31.不支持标题监视。开启标题监视后,当窗口标题变化时可及时朗读。32.不支持使用热键快速打开剪贴板或缓冲区的网址。33.不支持ZDSR加X拷贝窗口内文本功能,此功能可将当前窗口中,所有含有文本的内容拷贝到剪贴板中。34.不支持读屏配置网络同步,该功能主要用于将读屏配置文件保存到云端服务器,以实现读屏随时从云端获取自己的自定义配置。35.不支持单手操作模式。此功能可将平时需要同时按下多个组合键才能实现的操作简化为只需按小键盘区域的单键即可完成。36.不支持无名称控件的标签关联。37.不支持 ZDSR+上光标双击在线查询英文单词。

Re: I really don’t understand time signature

Basically, the top number tells you the rhythm, and the bottom tells you how to read it. Occasionally you get weird rhythms like 5:8, which apparently people can recognize as distinct from a fast 5:4 because it's in the middle of a 4:4 or 2:4 and the tempo didn't change.I'm also feeling wy behind, because every single post here used "bar" for what I only know as "measure". Just count the downbeats before a repeating rhythm would repeat. If it's a number other than 2, 3, or 4, it's probably 8th notes. Otherwise, it's probably quarter notes. If you don't have a repeating rhythm—say, if you have some complex drum shenanigans in orchestra or marching band—then  the melody should be easier to count.

Re: VGStorm RPG Walkthroughs

The problem with some of these games is time vs. earned credits. I feel like Aaron hasn't quite worked that out yet. The reason people used the hell out of the slots is because there's no skill involved, and even if you wasted a ton of coins you could choose to just go back to your last save and try again. You could go for thirty rolls or more not getting anything, and even then only getting a small payout. But making it save every time actually takes longer, and means that it's really not worth it. Other games are similarly set up. If one game takes me a minute and twenty seconds but only gives 40-50 credits, while another game takes me less time and earns more credits, then I'm going for that one. They obviously can't all be dead even, but still.

Re: I really don’t understand time signature

Most songs are either 4/4 or 3/4. If you want an idea of the difference, compare Twinkle Twinkle (4/4) to Silent Night (3/4). If you want to get a little weird, look up Take Five by Dave Brubek, which is in 5/4 time.Where it's important is usually in your bass or rhythm section, rhythm especially. The song Thunderstruck by ACDC is a really nice example actually. The song starts with only a high-hat and a guitar riff. Ignore the guitar riff, killer though it is, because it'll just confuse you at the moment. Focus on the drums. Eventually you'll get some bass-drum notes tossed in there, and then the song will pick up. Pay attention to the bass and snare drum. They're going to be alternating. Each of them is playing a quarter note. This is an example of 4/4 time.Be aware that time signature generally doesn't worry about speed overmuch. Back in Black, also by ACDC, is in 4/4 time even though it's markedly slower than Thunderstruck.

Re: Tube Sim Update on the way, do you have any bugs you’d like fixed?

Thank you everyone.I'm not going to get chance to do all your suggestions, but will try to get a number of them in.In terms of future translations, my plan is that once the next release is out of the door I’m going to spend some time writing a script for all the text which needs recording and a guide on how to do the translations. My intention is that once I give the script and documentation to someone, they would be able to get the recordings, and provide the edited files to me.I’d then build them in to the game and put the release out. Before volunteering translators should be aware of just how much work this will be, it’s not just 1 or 2 files, its probably not far off 200, you’ll also need around 10 people for the different voices. It’ll need quite a lot of time to do well. Also, the game will continue to be free, so translators will get my thanks and credits in the documentation but will not be able to charge for there translation and the game will be distributed from my website for free.If you’re still interested in looking in to creating a translation please contact me via my website, www.ndadamson.comTo answer a couple of specific questions above.#2: hi Eagle Ear Entertainment. Yep, I was looking at building a sim city game, there’s some very early code still on my computer here, I’ve just never had time to spend on it, life never seems to slow down, even now I’m working from home instead of the office. One day maybe I’ll get round to looking at it again.#9: Thanks, karlitos, but actually the gear type sound is actually how many of the London underground trains sound.#11: hi electro. The way I wrote the code for Park Boss it would be almost impossible to translate with out making huge code changes. So, I don’t think it’s worth it. My intention is that any future games, if I ever get time, will have the ability to translate built in from the start which will make everything much easier. Trying to retro fit translations in after code has been written is never the best way to do it. Manu, the French translator, has done a great job of working around the code issues and has updated the code to make future translations possible. Thanks again all.Nick.

Re: I really don’t understand time signature

Alright. Let's make this a little less technical. The top number, in the case of 4/4 is the number of notes in a bar. A bar isn't where you go to drink alcohol or something you might run into because you weren't using your cane. A bar is the amount of notes which could be actual notes or hits of a part of a drum kit, say a snare. Now, you don't have to use an entire note, in the sense, go look at pretty much any rock song. Count the number of high hat hits per bar. You'll notice that it's 8. The reason why is because he or she is deviding it into eighth notes. Consequentually a sixteenth note is 1 sixteenth of a note out of a  4/4 bar. So let's think of a bar  like a pizza. You only have 1 pizza, you will need to feed 8 people. You must devide it into 8 pieces. Same for eighth notes of a bar. You will play eight notes or hit something on a drum kit eight total times in the bar. That's the  simple part. Yes, you can transition between these different devisions in a bar but in this explanation I won't go into that. The bottom note tells you how to devide your bar. So in 4/4 that means quarters of a bar equal your notes. I can already see you asking why then do drummers play 8th notes in a 4/4 bar if that bottom note means they should only be playing quarters. That's because it fits. Just because it says you should play quarters only it's just a suggestion on how to devide up the bar. The top number is more important because you can't get away with playing 5 notes for example in a 4 note per bar situation. Hope this helps.

Re: Deep Space Dice For Alexa

Yeah, I will be able to analyze the keywords that people use to add different variations for the commands. As for damaging, there are some limitations on how you can assign numbers to variables, but when firing your weapons, you can provide a full sentence in the form of "fire weapons at Assault Cruiser One for 3 damage". This will skip the prompts to enter a target and then the damage. The game gets much more intense with 3 or less Don't Panic cards, so if you are looking for a challenge, give that a shot.Depending on the interest, there are some fanmade ships like an Enterprise variant from Star Trek that people have created on the BoardGameGeek forums, I might add that as a different ship for the player plus some boss encounters at the end.

Re: I really don’t understand time signature

I am going to try and explain this the best I can, since in my brain when I produce my music, I don't really focus on these things unless I am adding delay or other factors. But let's try and explain this for you.Basically, music comes in the form of bars, and beats. Bars, are 4 beats, and 4 beats, are one whole note. Half of a beat, 0.5, is considered a half note. Half of a half note is is an eight note, and half of that is a sixteenth. To better understand I will make you a simple project in Reaper and send it to you, to let you listen to the different values. Hope this helps.

Re: I really don’t understand time signature

I can try and explain what I know, though anyone feel free to correct anything I've said. The basic concept is that music fits into beats, which fit into bars. You'll also need to know about note values and durations, so start off there if you're not sure on that either.Let's take the time signature 4 4. The first number tells us how many beats in a bar (4 in this case), while the second number tells us how long each beat is. Because 4 is often associated with quarter, this is a quarter note (crotchet). So 4 4 means, their are 4 equal crotchets in a bar. This of course doesn't mean that other note values are not able to reside within those bars though.Let's look at another example: 3 4. It has the same bottom number, so you can count on that meaning crotchets or quarter notes again. This time however, there are 3 beats in a bar. This can give a swing feeling, and is the time signature used for waltzes.Remember that if the bottom number is 8, for example, it will effectively be twice as faster as 4 as 8 is associated with quavers (8th notes) which are half the length of crotchets (quarter notes). This means that if the last/bottom number is 2, it'll be double the amount of 4 (crotchets or quarter notes) and 4 times the value of 8 (quavers or 8th notes).I hoped this has helped you in some way.
