Re: Pokémon Crystal Access

I am really confused by something in anniversary. not sure if this is a gen 1 thing or just anniversary, but once I got to cerulean city from mount moon and then tried to get back to mt moon via route 4, there is no path back! I use path finding to find route 4 and then checking the mt moon entrance as well as the east connection to route 3, it says there is no path. I am very confused.  did i have to jump off a ledge when going to cerulean that i cant climb back up at this point of the game?@391 that is fair enough. I get how needing to consider which pokemon are good and which just aren't introduces another layer to the game that some might prefer. I guess I am biased by the first pokemon game I played, which was gen 4, where the changes made it so most pokemon were at least decent and a lot of moves have been buffed to make them viable. so it is just what I was used to I guess and then realy dissapointed in crystal for being in my view less balanced. also just to clarify, I don't have a problem with some pokemon just being overall better than others and some type combinations making more sense or even some pokemon being pretty much useless, but for my personal taste the disparity of usefulness  in gen 2 is too much

Re: Discussion of the 2020 American Federal Election

I'm just waiting for the one recount to rule them all. You know, the one that somehow declares Trump the winner. Yes, even in states where the election results have been certified. Even if they've already done a recount. This seems to be the strategy. If he keeps serving this stuff, and gets enough people to gulp it down, well, uh, who are the democrats, and the CIA, and China, and whoever else to go against the will of the people, or something. By the way, the evidence, all the evidence, quite literally every bit of the gathered evidence is all in one place. That place appears to be Parler. You'll find everything there from whistleblowers to insiders. You'll also find alleged CIA involvement along with videos linking Biden to China. Add in a random report of voting machines being dumped in swamps. Oh, and affidavits, all those affidavits. Mix well and season to taste. Though if you've really got a taste for this stuff, there's no hope for you. Though at least we're not talking about anyone's emails this time around so I guess there's that.

Yes, I know you can click new game. But it doesn't let you choose which slot to save in.. so I'm wondering if it overwrites the save you already have. So far in my experience, that seems to be the case. But I've never tried manually creatinv a new save as soon as the battle loads where  have access to that menu. I'm not super far into the game, so I don't mind deleting mysave if I have to, but I would prefer not to.

Re: Pokémon Crystal Access

I see what you're saying, at least up to some extent. For example, bug moves. The fact that we've really only got Twinneedle, Pin Missile and Megahorn is just fugly. Heracross and a couple of others can use Megahorn, and it hurts, but things like Bug Buzz and X-Scissor are lovely, and increase viability. It's been twenty years since I didn't know which pokemon were good and which weren't based on either their level-up move lists or their learnsets via either breeding or TM/HM. I know, for instance, that Forretress in-game is a pain in the neck because both its types lack good STAB, but it's also a very good spiker and a premium physical wall; I might use it in competitive fights, but never in an in-game run. Compare that to Lanturn; dual STAB in Surf and Spark, plus paracon support in T-Wave and Confuse Ray naturally; the thing is just made for in-game teams, and it's actually quite bulky even if it doesn't hit hard. So for a newer player, you're dead right. For me personally, it's a nonissue.I still hold to my argument re: the game is harder though. The newer games make almost all pokemon fairly good in some way, and this can be seen as a good thing. However, the vanilla (or in my case, close-to-vanilla) games mean that actually deciding which pokemon to keep and which to not use contributes to the difficulty. If you pick up a Hopip early on, you're going to have trouble levelling it up, and you're quickly going to find out that it's speedy as hell and great for team support, but not a great damage dealer. If you pick up a Slugma, you're soon going to realize that having double weaknesses to ground and water make it virtually DOA for most of the game once it evolves into Magcargo. I don't reject your point entirely, though; when part of the difficulty is in which pokemon to reject, that can be seen as a design flaw.I see what you're trying to say though, and I agree with you at least in part.

Hi.I haven't tried it yet, so I can't say the following for sure.In the main menu, the cursor is on "Load game" if you have a saved game. Press Up once to new game, and you will create a new saved game. You don't need to save the game manually because it autosave very often. It saves in the slot you have loaded which means, if you are making a new game, it will save in the new slot.In the load game menu, there are space to a lot of game saves. When using OCR on that part, it shows me that I only have one game saved, and all the other are empty slots.I'll mess around with that as soon as I get time to work on my guide for the game.

In July of last year, my younger brother began having seizures, and we had no earthly idea what was causing them. He was examined by cardiologists, neurologists and every sort of specialist you can imagine and nobody had a clue. Well, everything came to a head in October, when my mother found him unconscious in his room. After having him taken to a hospital, he was put on life support because he was unable to breathe. We later found out that somehow he lost oxygen to his brain, which resulted in him becoming braindead. He was examined once again by neurologists and cardiologists, who once again had no idea how it happened. Two days later he was removed from life support, because we were informed that there were two possibilities--either we could remove him from life support, or he could remain on life support in a vegetative state. So despite our hope that he could recover and continue living, we knew this was not the way he would want to live his life, constantly suffering and in pain. Later that day, I simply sat in silence, with my head bowed in prayer and tears in my eyes, as my best friend, a man who meant more to me than life itself, was removed from life support and left this world for the next.My advice is this. Whether the people you love are healthy and alive, or physically or mentally ill, never let a day go by without telling them that you love them. If you're walking in the valley of the shadow of death, trust in the Lord and he will make a way where there is none.I know some of you may not be Christians, but it's never too late to pick up a bible and read God's love letter to us all.For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.(Romans 3:23-26)

I mean if you enjoy half the pokemon, including all bug types, being useless due to their movesets and about 1/3 of the moves being so underpowered they make pokemon that learn them by level up useless as well, then yeah vanilla crystal is the game for you. personally, I don't enjoy finding out the hard way that a pokemon isn't just not top tier, but is in fact useless after leveling him to level 40. the hacks usually just update the moves to their balanced versions as they are in the later games. also pokemon having larger movesets to learn doesn't make the game easier imo, since other people's pokemon get those moves as well. I would say it makes it a bit harder, since as was pointed out, it's harder to expect what kind of attacks the enemy knows.I feel your judgment might be clouded by nostalgia.

Hmmm, I wonder what the various mathematical operations on that would result in? Would each result equal "a lot" or would you get even stranger ones like "double a lot" or "half a lot"? *Thinks*

Re: Splitting up pathfinding

This is somewhat related, but RTS games tend to have an issue in terms of pathfinding overhead, usually you can employ tricks like flocking or sectorization to cut down on the distance and number of pathfinding calls you need to make. Another way could be by using Flow Fields, which you can find a bit about [here] and [here], though it depends. If the player is in motion it may depend on A) How close the player is to your AI, if there close then the A* overhead would be pretty low and you can update it or path straight to the player on a per turn basis, or B) if the player is far away update the path periodically depending on that distance, so 30 spaces away could be updated every 15 steps, etc.

What was happening there was, I guess, that some intel processors are just not good enough for virtualisation, see the audio problems you already encounter. What can you try is to somehow get in to the live environment, then try run orca -r & to run another orca process. Then, you can install the distro from the live environment, I think it may have the installer on the desktop somewhere.

Splitting up pathfinding

2020-11-25 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Developers room : amerikranian via Audiogames-reflector

Splitting up pathfinding

I remember having this issue before, and I think I am more equipped to handle the possible solutions. My question is how would I go about  finding and adjusting paths for 10 or so entities based on player location? My current idea involves a 2D grid,  no more than 300 squares in each dimension  with the player and the entities moving through it.  The entities should be able to realize that the player has moved and adjust their behavior accordingly, by which I mean find a path  to the new location.  I have considered chunking up calls to updating paths, for example, finding 10 or so squares at a time rather than the entire path, but the problem with that is the player can  simply step aside and watch the entity run past without realizing that wherever they’re headed is no longer valid.  While it is true that said realization would last only for a brief measure of time, it is still something I would like to eliminate. Slightly off-topic, but the only algorithm that I have seen being extensively used for pathfinding is Astaar. Should I be using something different? To clarify, I have worked with pathfinding before, but only in respect to finding a path from point A to point B, not splitting doing so over time.

No, this is not thread necromancy, because the results of this election are apparently still in question. They're apparently still in question because Trump won by "a lot." Not only did he apparently win Pennsylvania by "a lot", he won "all of these swing states by a lot." When talking about the results of something, like an election, for example, I've never heard of a number called "a lot," so could someone who is so inclined offer up an approximation as to what that entails? Also, the election was rigged. He said so himself, so it must be true. Actually, here he is telling us all about it:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBEfgrEI7K8

Accman, I wish you and your family well. I hope your wife recovers fully and speedily. No one should have to go through that. I'm very glad that things didn't get quite as ugly as they could have done.Nocturnis, I wasn't especially trying to criticize. All I was really trying to do was to tell you to give yourself a break. The world will happily kick you around for the "sin" of showing vulnerability, so don't kick yourself. That's all. And believe me, this is advice I still have to remind myself to take sometimes. We all probably need to hear it a time or two. As someone who has also been tagged as the "rock" of my friend group, I don't like showing weakness either, but over the past few years, dealing with some anxiety and such taught me that it's better to talk about things and show a little weakness than pretend everything's okay or whatnot. Please believe me when I say that I have plenty of respect for you, and no desire whatsoever to cut you down, about this or about anything else.

And that's precisely my point. One of the things that makes Crystal more difficult is figuring out which pokemon get good moves, and which don't. Re: Let's all write to the developers about the Accessibility of the offic

Yes, you are. You are missing the entire first post, which mentions  the official client multiple times, not the web client. The client in particular can be found in the Windows 10 store. However, even the web version is far from perfect, so other than logging in, I am not sure what else you did since you missed quite a bit on there as well. Telegram is ideal on Android. On iOS it's usable, and on Windows a pain without Unigram. Hopefully it will be better one day. For some reason, they started great, then dropped the ball especially on iOS.I would like to say again that before you mention platforms X and Y, you stop being selfish. If you can switch, great, but most of the time and this is especially true for chatting platforms, it's not really your choice what you will use, you just go towards what most people in your country use. Here for example, a popular messaging platform is Viber. The accessibility of it sucks in many ways, but I can't force the entire country to switch to something else, I can however try to fight for better accessibility. This topic is to be quite honest very strange, because I  really don't see how Facebook's privacy issues, speed of WhatsApp VS Telegram, signal and it's privacy focused options or the way Discord works are relevant to improving accessibility of a chat client and trying to work together to achieve so. For Discord users, for example, if you complain about how the iOS app works and how strange it is, would it be right for me to say oh just use something else? And maybe you are right, maybe something else is better, but I would rather have the choice, than a forced choice due to inaccessibility.

To bring this back on topic, the most naive collision algorithm I can devise in Python is benchmarking at 1000 executions per second.  I don't know what you're doing, but this is fast, as in, way faster than I expected it to be before I did any optimization at all.  I'm writing a tutorial, code will be up tomorrow, but I'm literally doing what I did in post 9 and it's fine enough that you should be able to do stuff with it.

HiI've completed Pokemon Sword, but on the Nintendo Switch. if you play using the pro controller, that's the two joycons placed in each side of the Switch, you can use the right stick to move around like a 3d or rotation system. in the first part, from the train station to the city is not that hard because you have to go all the way north, but when you need to go to hammerlocke try going some steps front and then use the right stick to turn left and go all the way with the bike. you'll then will find a bridge if you explore the wall. in the second parth of the wild area, when there is a kind of celtic music, i don't remember very well the way to the city, but you'll find the city if you have a lot of patience.

Re: Can I seriously be serious?

This is going to be a long one... I want to thank you all.  Thank you all equally.  If I'm not addressing you specifically in this post as I will a few individuals, it has nothing to do with your post being of lesser importance/significance.  Some of you, however, offered more than well wishes and encouragement; you offered advice and wrote about your own personal experiences and I want to show that your effort is appreciated.@Aaron, post 5, you're right.  I've gained, too.  Wisdom and insight are just two things I've gained.  The pain has schooled me in patience and perseverance.  My biggest gain, however, has been a loving family.  Anyone who has followed me for awhile now knows that my parents, siblings and I have never had the best of relationships... I was the blacksheep, as it were.  My thoughts, goals and dreams were different, and I had a drive to do my best to get them done.  I'm still working on a lot of things, but for now it is enough to say that my life has come a long way from where it was when I first signed up here.@smoothgunner, post 6, prayer is something I try never to stop doing, but I appreciate the reminder; it never hurts to repeat it.@Cheesy circular iron wooden spoon, post 7, thanks, man.  You and I have not always seen eye to eye on things, and I admit sometimes I just can't, for the life of me, figure you out, but I do believe you mean well deep down.  You could just as easily have trollfaced me given post 1 sounded so wimpy; you didn't.@tunmi13, post 8, seriously?  lol I appreciate the gesture.  someone through my satire back at me and did it nicely enough.  Glad to know you won't mis TG this year... I wish I had a brother that cared that much about me.@Dark, post 9, you and I may not agree on some things, but where our wives are concerned, you and I have been more or less neck and neck.  the "for better or worse" stuff is where most couples just don't seem to get it.  Things go bad in life and all of a sudden somebody's at the very least thinking about walking out when the other person needs them the most... I know your wife's been going through some ugly moments herself what with all that cancer business and, I can't even imagine how that has made you feel personally.  I know how I feel though, and it's not cancer.  but it doesn't matter what it is.  I've told my wife on at least one occasion that even if she were to forget my name and claim in mental illness or something of that nature that she didn't know who I was or never wanted to see me again, I'd still go on loving her and she'd still be the most important person in this life.  I'm sure you'd say the same about your wonderful woman; they truly do complete us.  Best of wishes to the pair of you and keep on keepin on.@Zarvox, post 10, without trying to you wrote a post that was a lot more powerful than you may have realized.  Let this reply serve as a reminder to you that sometimes overthinking a matter is less productive than simply trying your hand at it.  I didn't find your post negative at all... I found it encouraging.  For the record, no.  It's not that I needed to hear that I'm inspiring and caring or anything else that people deem good about me.  Too much of that can leave a guy feeling puffed up sitting high on a mountain in a bubble full of self-justified pride.  I do appreciate your comment though; it makes me want to work all that much harder to be more of the same, and more than that, too.  Considering that you're 20, not trying to be shallow and that you care enough to say what you feel and why?  And you seriously think you can't match me on some unnamed level because time? I may be 12 years older than you, but I can honestly say that when I was your age I was worse off than you are now as far as thoughts go.@haily_merry, 13, and that's part of what made me feel so selfish in having posted this thing to begin with.  I've never had anything like that happen to me, ever!  I've never had extensive surgery or had to take it easy and go through tons of hours and days and weeks of prescribed, doctor demanded bed rest.  In comparison my emotional pain seems like it shouldn't even matter to me, when I think about what my wife is going through and others have gone through.  I feel like all I did was complain, but I did want to get that stuff off my chest and I knew this forum was probably the best place to do it, and I hoped I could motivate someone to talk to others they might otherwise not have talked to for awhile for whatever reason, to not forget the importance of people around you.@Jayde, 14, as I hinted when replying to haily, post 13, part of it is that bit of me that still trys to keep things in perspective and assess the whole situation.  when I think about what my wife is going through my emotional pain just feels like it pales in comparison.  You know what?  I truly admire her.  She could go on FB or Twitter or some other social media site... I've seen people do

Re: what's the best language for audiogames(not python)

@25, that kinda sounds like how a SeqLock works. Its something that the Linux kernel uses. From the docs: "Sequence counters are a reader-writer consistency mechanism with lockless readers (read-only retry loops), and no writer starvation. They are used for data that's rarely written to (e.g. system time), where the reader wants a consistent set of information and is willing to retry if that information changes.A data set is consistent when the sequence count at the beginning of the read side critical section is even and the same sequence count value is read again at the end of the critical section. The data in the set must be copied out inside the read side critical section. If the sequence count has changed between the start and the end of the critical section, the reader must retry.Writers increment the sequence count at the start and the end of their critical section. After starting the critical section the sequence count is odd and indicates to the readers that an update is in progress. At the end of the write side critical section the sequence count becomes even again which lets readers make progress.A sequence counter write side critical section must never be preempted or interrupted by read side sections. Otherwise the reader will spin for the entire scheduler tick due to the odd sequence count value and the interrupted writer. If that reader belongs to a real-time scheduling class, it can spin forever and the kernel will livelock. This mechanism cannot be used if the protected data contains pointers, as the writer can invalidate a pointer that the reader is following." Thanks for the kit though -- I'll take a look and see what I can make of it!

@23Yes, I mean that.  It should mostly work in kernel code.  Possibly entirely: the only thing in there that makes syscalls is allocation and I think you can always specify your own.SPMC linked lists aren't channels as such, though they can probably be used as such.  They're advantageous because you can add to the head or tail of it with a couple atomic operations and, if you're careful about iteration, you can remove elements in the middle while other threads are iterating over it.  So for example if a PCIE device appears, you can put it in there without blocking anyone and they'll all just see the old value until the next time they iterate over the list.

It looks like there is a native Linux version of this game. The url for it from the page is:https://drive.google.com/file/d/15-HI9J … sp=sharingThere isn't any kind of readme or manual that I can find for it though. I downloaded this file, chmod +x the FS.x86_64 file and ran it. It did open and play music. I haven't done anything else with it though. As long as developers release for Linux, and are receptive to feedback and actually maintain their software (I'm looking at you RS Games), then it is better to use the native version. If this doesn't work for you, let me know and I'll try it on audiogame-manager. I don't really have high hopes for getting it automated though because downloads from Google Drive are not nice for tools like wget.

@22, by concurrencykit do you mean this? And I don't know if I'll use SPMC -- perhaps that might come in handy when communicating between the driver and the kernel... I haven't really used channel-based concurrency mechanisms in some time and am not really sure how to best figure out when they're applicable or not. But I do aim to make my kernel as thread-safe as possible -- even if I'm writing low-level code that's 75-percent of the time unsafe anyway.

@21I don't know enough about the application, but in practice arrays are faster for iteration, and you can get fast O(1) removal by swapping the item to be removed and the last item of the array, then shrinking the array by 1 item.  If your list isn't frequently inserted into and you don't need concurrent access, an array may be the right item.  Trees etc. are useful but only after you're in the high double digits, where the cost of copying local, probably cached memory around becomes slower than pointer chasing and rebalancing strategies.I'd look at concurrencykit, though.  The one really big advantage that linked lists have is that you can do SPMC waitfree insertion and deletion (which means no locks and everyone is guaranteed to proceed in constant time, i.e. no loops).

Re: CrimeHunter version 2.0 for Mac and Windows is now available!

A pity. This has quite a bit of potential, and yet god mode makes this quite boring to play. Made it to 102 this time before intentionally jumping into a hazard. At this point it's not how hard the game is, rather how persistent you are.Decreasing health to 500 won't do anything if my other suggestions get left out. Honestly, I wouldn't even bother with reducing health if you're not planning to get rid of the ability to essentially become invincible.I'll keep an eye on this, but as of right now, this was mostly money wasted

fifa 21 ultimate team?

Hello guys!I'm trying to play a game on the ultimate team, but it says that I don't have enough players, even using the automatic team building system. How can I place players who are in the reserve or even out of the reserve, to be holders? It can be through the game, using the web app or the mobile app.

Re: RedditForBlind a windows app to use Reddit blazingly fast (v0.92)

Sorting, screen-reader read outs, tab management, home tab experience, user settingsIt is already possible to vote with Shift+up/down. I don't think I'll support awards, or at least not for now. I don't even know if I can use the API for Reddit gold, but anything concerning Reddit gold will be postponed for later unless people tell me it is super important to have.I'm glad to see you like the app so much you wished links online opened in the app and not on reddit website. It shows the app has potential. This is promising, still working on new features and slowly getting towards the broader 1.0 release. I'm glad to see some people are getting value out of it as it is.Thanks everyone!

Yep, there's enough out there to overwhelmingly show it's evil. If you want to defend it, the burden rests on your shoulders, not ours.

Re: accessibility of gears tactics and gears 5

okay, having played around with the game for an hour or two I have a few questions.I haven't had any issues navigating the game's UI, though @aaron your post was quite helpful, so thanks for that.My issues revolve around gameplay, mainly, finding the fabricator at the beginning and having started the rounds, using auto-lock to take out opponents. When told to secure the fabricator, are you being told to place it at a certain location? or is it already somewhere and you have to find it.  having found it, how do you interact with it, x?I tried following the pings but it's tough when there are obstacles in the way.Can you guys recommend a map that is more open / easier to start with? Finally, I'm not sure I understand the process of locking / targeting on opponents.  From my understanding, I hold down lt to aim, then center an opponent and tap the left joystick to set a mark on the target.  Following that, I use the right trigger to fire?  is there a sound when I have successfully placed a marker?  I know characters occasionally speak but it doesn't seem to be too consistent.Anyway, thanks for all your help, guys.  I'd be happy to play games with you all.  My gamer tag is aaronr7734 if anyone is interested.
