Also if people are wondering what the version numbers are, for now it's a percentage towards 1.0 (100%) which is the MVP for broader release.Version 0.98 will have messaging.Version 0.99 will have better UX, like keyboard remapping, change settings, all from the app instead of the text files. However, I think it's not possible to get R/All and R/popular with the API, which is a bummer.I will add messaging before the 1.0 release.I looked into filtering by flair or even sorting and I don't see how you can do it with the Reddit API. I searched all the references of flair in the API documentation and didn't find anything useful. Not sure how the website does it. This is unfortunate, are people using flairs a lot?At least I was able to add the link flair in the template engine so people can at least know what flair the post is, just not sort or filter by them.Worst case I can always do a post filter, meaning I get posts of a subreddit with the API and then I only show the ones with the matching flair filter. Problem is I can end up loading thousands of posts just to show a handful in case of rarer flairs. The error says "no such host is known", so I'm guessing it cannot resolve the host.Did you change your DNS in your network adapter settings? How do you use quad DNS? I tried it and it worked strangely enough. But I think that I forked the updater code for version 0.97 few months ago and forgot. Since people were on 0.92, I suspect that I didn't fork the code at that time to fix the content disposition bug. Maybe I'm wrong, please let me know if it fails to update. You can find it in UserConfig\Sounds\Sound_Expandable.wav. Go open that file and see if it's that. If you don't like that sound, you can change it. Which screen-reader are you using? Maybe the screen-reader uses default speech settings. I set the detect language unchecked in the JAWS+V menu of most apps, including the browser I was testing this in. Usually it prevents JAWS switching language when reading stuff online so that everything is read with the English voice.I use manual forms mode. For some reason, when I press Enter on the graph viewer, JAWS goes into application mode and reads in French. To be clear, it reads the English text with a French voice, so it is impossible for me to understand it and I cannot tell if the feature is fun or not because of that issue. Computer sciences or engineering or what not is a real field of study. It's not just about being a good programmer. From understanding electronics, how a computer works, how to architect code, how to deploy coe, design patterns, security, instrumentation, profiling, advanced debuggi, parallel computing, cloud computing, databases, big data, big compute, embedded programming, optimize for memory, optimize for performance, data structures, algorithms, knowing many languages, knowing many technologies, keeping yourself up-to-date with the newest trends, unit/functional tests, staging code in multiple environments, reviewing code, polishing code for review, make dashboards, managing dependencies and so on and so forth. I'm not even talking about soft skills like working with deadlines, planning, proposing solutions / designs, working in big teams, working in small teams, work life balance, convincing people, edging risks, etc.Now of course you don't need to know all of this, but you need to know what it is at a high level or that it exists. You need to know a subset very wel and the rest to some degree. You might not be a cybersecurity expert, but it is expected from you that your code doesn't introduce huge vulnerabilities in production or that you can actualy talk with experts and understand what they are saying.Point is all of this takes time. You learn a big chunk of it at college, in projects you get involved, in personal projects you do on the side. You cannot substitute one for the other, they all teach you different things and you need all of them. College is not mandatory, but it's not just a paper. There is a reason why companies ask for it. It's a proof of hard work, maturity and knowledge. I don't personally believe in big colleges, but I believe in college. I hate that in the U.S. people need to be rich or get ruined to attend "good college". My point is that college is worth it, it's not a waste of time if you put in the efforts. Impossible. So you can trust that a fraction of your viewers will pay for the files, that is the best you can do. Try to set the file price not too high and make it convenient to buy so maybe people will think why not. If the files are expensive and it's a pain to checkout, people will look at torrents. Learn marketing, produce a lot of content, but then that means it's not really passive. IF you do courses, they will go stale anyway, technology evolves fast, other people will make videos that will get more popular or recent, so you will keep having to update your stuff. Also make sure you respect regulations on refunds and consumer protection. My biggest advice is make it so that people actually feel like they want to pay you. Make it a delightful experience. Don't just throw some files on a server behind a pay wall. I am not a fan of Voiceover and the gestures or just didn't get used to it. I generally love Apple's designs though, it's fancy and slick. All my setup is pretty much Google and since their company model is based on selling data, must it be aggregated, I kind of accepted that I was using nice products that don't cost much in exchange. On that front I prefer Microsoft, they collect data, but their users are actually their revenue (sure there is a small portion of advertising, but it's really minimal), so they really care about privacy, because they must. When they use collected data, it's to improve the user's experience to make you want to pay them more or stay with them.Anyway, when I saw that article about Apple screen recognition, I was super hyped, but I figured it wasn't as good as they would say it. I can see that being useful in some apps that are partially accessible, like when there are a few unlabeled buttons and such. Re: Accessible smart watch? I got a Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 and I like it. It is lacking accessibility for some of the default apps, like Samsung Pay, Outlook and others. Although I talked with the team making the Outlook app for the watch and they are working on making it accessible. Hard to tell when it will be updated on the watch though.I didn't figure out how to input text or voice. What works is to view my notifications, which is already some value to me, it prevents me from taking my phone out every time. I'm still trying to figure out Samsung Pay, if I can get it work, paying with the watch sounds very handy.I also like to be able to control my phone's music from the watch. I also plan in the future to develop apps for the watch to solve some of my scenarios.I see a lot of potential with that technology and the upgrade costs given a trade in are quite reasonable so I don't feel it was a bad purchase. It's a Windows service that tries to guess what you will open based off your habbits and will preload those stuff in RAM to increase performance. I personally find it very annoying.Also, @23, that sounds like a virus. You could've used another program other than task manager to inspect the processes and resources. I'm guessing the virus would be scanning for taskmgr. An anti-virus is just looking at files, fingerprint them and look them up against a virus database to see if it's a known threat. Some more advanced can scan your outbound network activities and do other fancy stuff. All that to say an anti-virus will not catch everything. The problem is that virus are just regular programs that do something you don't want them to, so it's hard to flag them without too much false positive / false negative.If you suspect your computer is compromised, it is advised to reinstall a fresh OS anyway. It is not garanteed it will wipe the virus, but it is very likely. Very few viruses are able to persist through a OS reinstall. So I look at my glucose data and I try to mimic what my pancreas did when it was working by dosing rapid acting and slow acting insulins. When you take insulin, your blood glucose drops. When you eat carbs, your blood glucose goes up. If your blood glucose is too high, it will cause long term damage to your nerves, heart, brain. If it's too high for like a week, it will cause a dangerous hospitalization. If it's too low, you die.So you have to hit that sweetspot where it's not too high and not too low. But it's okay, I'm getting good at this. The only annoying thing with insulin is that it's a protein that would break down if you were to eat it, so you have to inject it, in my case 4 times a day. I watched the very unnecessarily stressful elections first week of November. Who doesn't like artificial suspense? Moreover, I always had an escape route back to Canada. I finally released the Reddit app I wanted to work on for a very long time. It is still in early stages, but I keep working hard on it. I started a book series: The Stormlight Archive, got all of the audio books, had to spend audible credits.I got a nice spread for Thanksgiving meal including sous vide turkey, a spiced butter, roasted mustard brussel sprouts with bacon, roasted beets and carrots with maple syrup butter, pecan and cranberry stuffing, gruyere mashed potatoes and... sweet potatoes with toasted marshmallows on top? What is wrong with the U.S.? Then pumpkin blondies with caramel and vanilla bean ice cream for a nice finish. I like cooking if it's not clear already. And if you're wondering why I'll be eating marshmallows on sweet potatoes, ask my girlfriend.Also, in the continuation of 2020, I learned ~3 months ago that I have type 1 diabetes. It's just that kind of year. I'm now managing it very well, it's just a bit annoying. There is way worse, so I'm not complaining. Plus, you can get used to anything really. At least with type 1, you can still enjoy carbs with the right insulin amounts, so yay for still being able to eat at restaurants (when there is no lockdown)!With work, Reddit app, elections, books, I've been pretty busy this month and sacrificed some sleep. I guess this already has been posted, I did a quick forum search, but couldn't find what I was looking for.With black Friday at our door and that itch of spending money coming with it, I was wondering if there was any smart watch that is screen-reader accessible? I would personally never go to 16GB, but it really depends on what you are doing.For the anecdote, when I was interning at Ubisoft working on Assassin's Creed Odyssey, I had to compare two binary files and diff them. The files were map files of the game, the file I used was 24GB. To diff them, the easiest way was to load both of them in memory. I remember the first time I launched the tool I was making that was diffing the two and creating a patch, I was just staring at my RAM in Task manager. I had 64GB of RAM. I saw it spike to 30GB, 40GB, 50GB... 55GB... 59GB, I was getting nervous, I was like "do it! you can do it! I don't want to rewrite this to stream the content!".It stayed at 59GB for a while, processed the diff, the patch, dumped it and memory went back down to ~15-20GB range and I've never been so happy in my life (don't tell my girlfriend). When it ends, it feel like you went to school ages ago even though it's been few months or few years.2) No matter the subject, you will improve out of it, can be memorization, logic, being structured and organized, respecting deadlines, scheduling and prioritizing work, finding important informations in a sea of information, working with people, leadership, asking the right questions, improving writing skills, outlining, making connections, etc. All those skills are useful in life.3) College will let you study what you really want to study.4) When you're done, trust me, it's worth it.I understand every situation is different. For myself, I generally really liked school and college. I was a really good student (high grades), but I was pretty lazy. Would study the last day before exams, do homework just when they were due. I liked every subject more or less with emphasis on science subjects. I guess I was good because everything interested me a little.But then for my last semester at college, I had severe senioritis. I was totally done. I had my fifth internship the semester before, I signed my return offer, I knew I was going to work full time after college and that the job would be really fun. I felt like that last semester was totally pointless. I powered through it, but if I once thought I would do a masters or a doctorate when freshman in college, that time was over. I just wanted it to end quickly. Those 3 months felt like an eternity.Now that it's done, it feels like so far away. Weeks are just flying by. Realize that a semester is only 15 weeks. My advice is to not do what I did. Do the homeworks the day they are assigned, they usually can be done pretty quickly. After, you have peace of mind, you can spend all of your time on your hobbies and not having your parents on your back. Right now, you can open links from the app to open in your browser (Enter on posts/comments will open on Reddit online, Tabbing will cycle through the links in a post and Enter will open said link online).About opening Reddit links in the app instead of on the website, that is possible, but it would be a per-browser implementation. It could be a chrome extension that would change reddit links to redditforblind://link and a registry entry to route that to the app. Like it was said though, this would be a feature way in the future where the app would be feature rich. Don't expect that anytime soon, if ever.About opening reddit links though in the app itself, I could add Ctrl+O, paste the link, Enter. Let me add that to the backlog in post #1.
