I was excited to maybe try this out, right up until I read that every time you want to purchase something you have to send your save file to the devs and then they send it back.  Sounds like a lot more hassle than there needs to be.  Add to that the fact that apparently link in the OP is dead, and I assume yet another game has been flushed down the drain.

I'm a little confused about how your source is gone due to a windows update.  Windows update should not be deleting any personal files.  I've seen it do some weird things, and as a rule I'm not a fan of it, but I have never seen it just remove personal files.  All of that being said, this is why I am very, very much a fan of backups.  I'm working on some coding stuff myself, and that stuff is in 3 different places.  My PC, an external drive, and Dropbox.

@638,Getting the sound pack to work in VIP isn't massively difficult.  Download the Zip file and extract it.  Once extracted, You should see a folder called sounds.  Go into that folder, select all the files with control a, then copy with control C.  Now, go to your VIP mud folder in documents at c:\users\username\documents\VIPMud, enter that, and enter the sounds folder there.  Once inside sounds, paste the files from the sound pack with control v, and answer yes to replacing files if you are prompted.  Next, go back to your extracted zip file for the sound pack.  You should see some files ending in .set.  Copy those.  Go back to the VIPMud folder in documents, and inside you should see a folder called cosmic rage.  Go into this folder and paste the previously copied set files.  There ya go, pack installed.

So, I got the game installed and an account created.  However, one thing I notice is that once I connect to the server, I cannot go backward to the main menu that comes up when the game first loads.  There are 4 choices, followed by 9 more, then the last one for what I presume is language.  After switching to English, I'd like to be able to see what the other menu options are, and I don't see how to do that.  If I go all the way to the right, then hit up, it will switch to English.  However, if I then hit the down arrow to back out so that I can see what the other menu items are,, it just reverts back to Chinese.  Am I doing something incorrectly?

I see no "Browse button."  When the program runs, I see just a bunch of Chinese letters, a radio button that says "alt plus D", and another button with Chinese that appears to be the exit button, but no browse.

So, I just tested KI with Sonifight.  I have Win 10, running the MS store version.  I ran the KI config, and it's not even reading main menus. I just double checked under "edit config," and I see triggers for the main menu, but my screen reader (tried both JFW and NVDA) doesn't read them.  Just thought you should know.

So according to the read me, it says this works with killer instinct, but it says, "(64-bit proof of concept only, Windows Store version).  Proof of concept?  Does this mean that the config is incomplete?  The problem that I see with us making our own configs if we're blind is that, if I remember correctly, cheat engine was not accessible last time I looked at it.  In other words, I couldn't tell what memory address went to what.  On a side note, purely theoretical, couldn't this same thing be applied to other mainstream games?  For example, create a config that could read the menus or story lines from a mainstream game, or could tell you what certain items were in games that weren't fighting?

Weird.  I bought the game, and I just saw in the options that we should be able to use jaws.  However, in order to do so, I have to use insert F3 to pass key through every time I want to press a key.  This should not be the case if we can use screen readers.  Why is it doing this?

Found what appears to be a bug in the online section:  I tried to join my friend's server, and got the following message:  "Seems like there was an error retrieving the servers list.  0 servers found, from which 0 are compativble with your version.  No servers are compatible with your version."  After choosing to see the public server list several times, it finally showed them to me, but one of the servers I saw showed my name, mini-competition mode, and inactive, even though I obviously did not have a server up.  My friend had a server up, and I could not see it.  We were both using version 56, so this should not have been an issue.

@Chris, it is interesting that disabling the graphics driver caused the game not to speak...one should have nothing to do with the other.  Speech for me has worked fine for months since disabling the graphics driver on my PC.  Obviously, if you disable the Freedom Scientific driver, you're going to have issues, but as long as you leave that alone I don't see where there should be a problem.

@chris, if you want to disable graphics in an attempt to further troubleshoot the issue and test whether your performance improves, please do the following:Open start.  In the search box, type device manager, and press enter.  Tab once to navigate to the tree view.  Arrow down to display adaptors, and open by pressing right arrow.  You will see at least 2 options (assuming you have one graphics card).  One will be the graphics card of your PC (i.e., mine shows AMD Radeon R9 M370).  The other will say, "Freedom Scientific Accessibility Display Driver."  Navigate to the graphics card of your PC (Radeon, Intel Graphics HD, etc).  Open the associated ccontext menu by pressing applications (if you're using a wireless keyboard), or shift+f10 if your keyboard does not have an applications key.  Arrow down to disable, and press enter.  Tab to yes, and press enter.  This will completely disable graphics on your PC.  Close the device manager.  IMPORTANT:  Do not disable the Freedom Scientific Accessibility Display driver, as JFW needs this, and will continue to function normally as long as the Freedom Scientific Accessibility Display Driver is enabled (I have my graphics card disabled as I write this post).  Try running the game again after this has been completed, and report back.NOTE:  As previously stated, the above action completely disables graphics on your device.  If you have need of graphics in the future, you may re-enable the graphics driver by performing the above steps and choosing enable from the associated context menu.

Depending on the fan issue, it probably needs to be replaced.  That's the drawback to Apple...while their hardware is exemplary, it is extremely proprietary, and their designs do not lend themselves to self-service (I have a MacBook Pro).  Unless you have the specialized tools, you will have to turn it over to Apple for repair.

@Rob, that is exactly my point.  Let's exclude accessibility...your OS shouldn't corrupt user profiles for no reason; apps shouldn't just randomly stop working and crash when there's been absolutely no input from a user; settings should not automatically change without input from a user (i.e., icons appearing or disappearing from system tray, which means that the registry values associated with that are being manipulated automatically by the OS, even though the user has set their own preferences, without the user's knowledge); native browsers shouldn't be utter trash; simple updates to the OS itself should not touch, let alone alter, your boot sector to the point that it cannot be repaired and you are forced to completely reinstall the OS.  And when there is an error, the messages regarding that error should contain more than some vague information like, x program has stopped working...no shit, Sherlock; I knew that when it stopped responding, or locked up my PC.  True, if you're lucky you can get the associated hexadecimal error code (there are plenty of cases where not even that is provided, which is ridiculous), but even that information can be vague and unhelpful in terms of troubleshooting.  again, there's no excuse for that sort of crap, given that the company releasing the OS has enough money to hire the cream of the crop, most brilliant, absolute best in designers, engineers, and coders.

Just more proof...the garbage collection/removal in Windows is abysmal, which also contributes to instability, errors, and failures...no OS should need to be reinstalled regularly to maintain it's functionality.  And let's talk about another native feature within Windows...narrator.  It absolutely sucks.  It is the worst attempt at accessibility I have ever seen.  If you're going to include that feature as a native part of your OS, then it should at the very least allow you to access and do anything within the operating system itself.  However, I have found that there are parts of the OS that are read very, very poorly, if at all.  And do not try to use the Internet with it...you will fail.  Yet a free, open-source screenreader, NVDA, was developed bby people with a hell of a lot less money than Microsoft has, and it makes narrator look like what it is...utter garbage.  Then there's Apple, who makes VoiceOver native to their OS, and what do you know?...it actually works.  Not only does it give you access to the OS itself, it also allows the user to access the internet.  My thing is that Microsoft is a multi-billion dollar company.  They can afford to hire the absolute best software engineers, designers, and coders in the world.  So to me there is absolutely no excuse for the myriad issues and instability that Windows has.

@flame,glad to see that you got it working.  Just out of curiosity, which thing solved the issue?  @orko, I have limited experience with the mac operating system as well as Linux, but most of my time is spent in Windows.  And I never said that the features wouldn't work in Windows...I said that in my opinion, based on my experiences that started with Windows 3.1 through to the present, third-party software tends to accomplish the associated tasks more reliably, with fewer errors or failures.  I cannot count the number of times that I have seen the error message that X program has encountered a problem and needs to close (Windows XP), or X program has stopped working (later versions of Windows), even when absolutely nothing was done that should have incited that error.  Internet Explorer (native within Windows, so much so that it is impossible to uninstall it without fucking your OS completely) is perhaps one of the most unstable browsers I've ever seen, throwing exceptions and errors for the slightest thing (sometimes simply a page loading will do it, yet that same page will load without a single issue in Firefox).  The Windows registry is a bloated mess, one which, in my opinion, contributes hugely to the destabilization issues within Windows.  I cannot tell you the number of times that I have had to manually register .dll files through the command line.  I've had errors thrown at me when both enabling and disabling services within the OS.  .  Windows has extreme difficulty in removing applications completely...I have no idea how many times that I have uninstalled a program, only to find associated folders still on my hard drive, and associated key values within the registry (like I said, a bloated mess).  I once had to assist my bhoss to fix Windows after she did only what is recommended by Microsoft; she ran Windows Update during the night while she was asleep.  That simple action (again, recommended by Microsoft) somehow corrupted or erased her boot sector.  I spent two hours with her trying to rebuild and repair it through command line tools (the command line being yet another native function in Windows)...and no matter what Windows claimed to have done, it was to no avail...she eventually was forced to totally reinstall Windows.  And that is only a scant number of the times I've seen Windows spit out failures and errors, or do a task a hell of a lot slower, half-assed, or not at all, for no fucking reason at all. So I maintain that if I have to choose between something native to Windows to perform a task versus using a third-party app to do it, I'll take the app in 99% of cases.

@Swag,If you, (speaking in generality with respect to all members of the forum, not you in particular) know how to type on a keyboard (and you obviously do if you made it here and created a post on the forum), then you know how to edit a post on this forum when the links to your game(s)/guide(s)/recording(s) go dead.  I'd say that's worse than having difficulty with English...at least then there is a valid reason for struggling.  The other is simply a case of pure laziness and unwillingness to put forth a minimum amount of effort.  If your assertion is that a person who is clearly ESL should put forth the effort to try to use the little English he knows to write a synopsis, then I assert that a person who obviously knows how to post here has unequivocally NO excuse not to update their post with respect to game and guide links...none.  That's not a matter of language...that's a matter of laziness, pure and simple...which makes it much worse in my book.

To be fair, I suspect that this person is Russian, or at least ESL.  That being the case, perhaps his or her knowledge of English is such that it makes it extremely difficult to write a full-fledged synopsis.  In the grand scheme, I'd much rather have someone fail to post a synopsis of a game (I'll find out what the game is when I download it), over the repeated error 404 codes that we get because people refuse to update their original postings with valid information when initial game links go dead.  That is a problem that is of epic and epidemic proportions on this forum, and the truth is that it is nothing but laziness, and there is absolutely no excuse for it.  I can always figure out what a game is by playing it.  I can't do shit about a broken link that someone couldn't bother to fix or tell me about.

I have a question.  Is there a setting to change so that combat either isn't automatic, or at least I am notified at the beginning of a battle?  Last night I started with a new character, and it's been over 2 years since I've been there.  I noticed that I'd walk through an exit, and before the description of the place was done, the monster I was fighting (without my knowledge) was dead.  Not 5 seconds after I entered the room, I heard the sound that you get when a corpse is sacrificed, and I hadn't done a damn thing in terms of fighting.  I made sure that my area music and other sounds were on.  No music changes were given to show battle, no voice notifications.  The only time I knew I was in battle was if a strike of theirs missed me, or if a strike of mine didn't immediately kill them, and I started getting messages.  Besides, I don't like that I have no control of a fight, that basically I can sit there 
 and it will fight for me.  If I'm gonna fight, then I want to make the decisions in battle.

Ok.  I just wanted to make sure of the rule.  That way, if I have two chars, one day I might want to play with one, and the next the other.  Just wanted to make sure that was all right.  Also, I was looking at the website, and given all of the new info, it might be worthwhile for someone to update the site articles, spells and skills, etc., especially given the new crafting stuff, additional spells, changes in level related to several skills, among other things.  Most of that stuff was written 2+ years ago, and while it's helpful, there are changes that most likely make some  things obsolete, and I'd venture to guess that the spells and skills list that claim to be complete no longer are.  Obviously the news section has kept up, but the rest...not so much.

The ding sound will happen after I bump into a wall a few times.  The tutorial only had 4 parts, if I remember correctly.  The last part that it had was the part about finding the birds.  After that, when I interacted with complete tutorial, it simply went directly into game mode.

oK, SO I JUST GOT DONE PLAYING AROUND WITH COLORS, AND I HAVE A COUPLE OF OBSERVATIONS.  fIRST, I DO NOT HEAR FOOTSTEPS WHEN I WALK AROUND.  tHAT SHOULD BE FIXED.  sECOND, THERE NEEDS TO BE A LEARN GAME SOUNDS IN THE MENU.  I HEAR SOLID TONES OF different pitches.  Sometimes I hear a "ding" sound when I walk that I don't know what is.  The ding sound will happen all of a sudden for no reason, and it's almost like I jump to another section.  The third thing I notice is that in the options menu, I can't actually save my settings.  I changed text reading to fast, but there was no way to save, and hitting X took me out of the menu, but SAPI still read at the same slow speed.  I actually wish that we could use Jaws in visually impaired mode.  Other than that, it looks interesting, although I haven't got that far.  Apparently I can't go to bed until I find a piece of metal for the radio, and I'

I've been busy over the last couple of days, and I've begun working on my own development project again, so I just saw the latest posts since mine a couple of days ago.  For clarification, is the actual story itself translated now?  Or is it just menus and such?  I absolutely love BK3.  I think it's the most comprehensive, best audiogame of its type available, and I've have always wanted the story translated, since while it is possible to glean some info from using JGT, I suspect that a huge part is translated incorrectly.  Computer translations are notoriously bad.  Smile.  So I am definitely interested in purchasing the translation, but I had planned to wait until the actual story had been translated, since from what I saw from previous posts, that appeared to not be done yet, unless I misunderstood.  I think I read that the UI was translated, but not the story, which to me says menus and the like.  Unless I am tot

Ok, possible bug report:  If you are playing a board game with a bank, and you choose to increment the factor rather than immediately take, when you do take, the capital is set to a negative number, and the factor is set to one.  That means that instead of starting over, as should occur, you would actually lose coins.  And there's no point in incrementing, since all that would do is make you lose even more coins.  I hope this makes sense.  Thanks.

Ok, so I got my code, put it in, and it worked this time.  Next question:  I saw nothing that said anything about creating a role on that page.  And after I set my password, it took me to the forum page, where all of the posts are.  So how do I go about creating my character now?  I tried signing in through the game itself, and after putting in my email and password, I get the following message:  "Network abnormal.  Exit game."  So what do I do from here?  Apparently I have an account, but the game isn't seeing it, and I am not sure how to go about creating my character, since whenever I sign into the page, all I see are the forums and posts, but nothing about character creation.

There is only a "next" button.  When I press that, it says "submitting...", but then nothing happens.  All I see is the same edit fields for email and verification code, and a next button.  I tried pushing the next button again, but nothing at all happened.  Like I said, this should not be an issue.  It should not be this difficult just to create an account.

Ok, this game is extremely cool, and I have enjoyed it immensely.  I just started playing it about a week or so ago.  What a fantastic job, Pragma.  I must admit, the nerd part of me would love to see your code.  I know that it was written in BGT.  I myself am actually in the middle of a project in BGT, but I have ran into a snag that has halted progress until a solution is found.  So having worked with BGT, I would be fascinated to see what this code looks like, given the complexity of some of the aspects of the game.  Obviously, I know this is not possible.  Again, great job on this game.  I have just a few thoughts:First, it seems pointless to have XP or saved money in a box if they cannot be used for anything.  Has anyone figured out what these things are for?  If they are unusable, I wonder why they are even there.  Pragma, if these are unusable, do you have plans to incorporate them in the future?Secondl
 y, the numbers quiz game is cool.  However, I would like to see the question base expanded some.  Perhaps you could add some questions related to medicine, to law, even possibly to computer programming, as well as a host of other things.  I have noticed that there seems to be a large number of questions relating to shipwrecks.  Perhaps those should be toned down some, as I spent about an hour the other day googling them, and had a lot of difficulty finding them.  That brings me to my next thought:There needs to be a way to spell words, especially in chat messages.  Last night I was connected to a server where there was a Spanish player.  I am American, but I happen to know quite a bit of Spanish.  This person was unable to speak English.  However, despite my knowledge of the language, I was unable to communicate well with him, because Jaws absolutely murdered pronunciations.  Had I been able to spell things, translating what he
  said would have actually been possible.This game is awesome, and I can see avenues for huge potential in the future.  Thanks for the hard work in providing something so enjoyable.

Ok, so I am assuming that when Yukio says that the hyper yoyo will appear between electron and crystal mines, he is referring to stage 6. I have just redone all of stage 6, but I saw no hyper yoyo. I already have all of the other yoyos before this one: Regular, super, and triple. So what am I doing wrong? Its not in 6-1. The only thing I see there is the laser machine gun. In 6-2, there is nothing, and in the secret landing spot there are only boxes next to a river, but no hyper yoyo. Nothing at all in levels 6-3 or 6-4. So exactly what am I missing? Help is appreciated. Thanks.

I landed in 6-2, yes. Only boxes next to the river. In 6-1 if I land, there is just the switch that gives the regular yoyo. I assumed that 6-3 would not count, since it is a landing level. And there is no landing in 6-4.

Awesome. Will download this immediately. On a side note, could someone please answer my post regarding the hyper yoyo? I went to the weapons list in the extras to see if there was a clue there on how to obtain it, but the translation that is provided is so bad and makes no sense. Ive checked this topic thoroughly for the answer, but its not here. I again searched the entire synthesis shop in 16, and there is no hyper yoyo. Ive tried using 6-1 as I did to get the original yoyo, thinking that now that I have the regular yoyo, the super yoyo, and triple yoyo, it might work, but that does not give me the hyper yoyo now, still only an original one. Please help.

I would greatly appreciate some help with retrieving the hyper yoyo. I have synthesized the super yoyo and triple yoyo. There is no option to synthesize the hyper yoyo in the stage 16 shop. I tried going back to 6-1, landing, and using the switch as I did to get the original yoyo. I immediately get kicked out of the stage as per the usual behavior, and when I go to 15, I do not receive a hyper yoyo, only a regular yoyo. Where exactly is the hyper yoyo if it is not available in the synthesis shop, and the 6-1 switch does not provide it? Thanks.

Clarification on mines: You do not need to jump away immediately on setting them. The mine will be placed at the next square of whatever direction youre facing, so that means that if you then step once in that direction, you will get hit. So you can turn left, place a mine, then turn right and continue to proceed normally, or vice versa if you place the mine to your right. However, moving away is recommended if you hear an enemy approaching the mine, as if you are one square away when it blows, you will also take damage. One thing I have done on levels is to stand close to the door and allow my other characters to proceed into the area. As the police start to enter, I will drop a mine and move away, thus killing the police before they can reach my two accomplices. This buys a little extra time for them on missions before were overwhelmed with police, and it also keeps them from immediately being distracted from picking up thing
 s by incoming police.
