Re: drag and drop with NVDA

Hello. I have always wanted to drag and drop with NVDA myself but never could figure out a way to do it. I don't have access to a computer with a touch screen so that is unfortunately out of the question. Now I wished I would have tried drag and drop when I owned a touch screen laptop. Sometimes I want to rearrange the icons on my taskbar or whatever but I always just end up starting from scratch and making sure I get the icons in the right order all in one go.

Hello everyone. How is android 11? My last taste of android was on a pixel 3a running Android 10 and this was in October of 19. So if things have changed since then, I'd be interested to know. I'm not looking for another android device right now. I keep hearing that talkback finally has a magic tap thing like VO.

Re: Prepaid cell phone services

Hello everyone. Almost 2 weeks on red pocket and am loving it. I finally got the LTE signal on my phone and it made a huge difference. Whenever I'm in wifi coverage, I turn my data off right away just to be safe. Wifi calling is no issue at all on red pocket. I'm hoping to find out this week if HD voice works as well but it should. Also for anyone who is looking for a prepaid carrier, red pocket is awesome but another one to check out is pure talk. They run on AT&T's network and seem to have comparable prices to red pocket. There are so many prepaid carriers out there and it can be overwhelming at times. If anyone is looking for a good unlmited plan, I hear visible from Verizon is good as well.

Re: Prepaid cell phone services

Hello everyone. I switched my service to red pocket last night. The port from T-mobile happened in literally 10 minutes or so. I made sure I had both my account number and pin for T-Mobile before I started this process so I could make sure there were no issues. Within half an hour, I had my service changed over. The only issue I'm having is I'm only on a 3G signal instead of LTE but it may be were I currently am. I'm visiting someone in another area so that may be it. There may only be 3G coverage in this area. I contacted red pocket on twitter to make sure it's just a coverage issue and not on my account. I have reset network settings just to be safe. A note about the red pocket sims. They are triple punched. So if the first one feels really big, there is an area were the card is cut so for an iPhone card, you would have to remove 2 cards and that gives you the nano sim.

Re: Prepaid cell phone services

Hello everyone. I have the phone unlocked. Just waiting for the red pocket sim to get here and activate the service. I contacted T-Mobile over twitter once the phone was paid off and they did the unlock on their end right away. I ended up going for the $19 3 GB plan. It has unlimited calling and texting. I got the 3 GB plan so I can run a few speed tests on the AT&T network and try youtube streaming on the data connection just to see how it runs compared to T-Mobile. If I find next month I only need 1 GB of data I can pay $15, or if I just need 500 MB of data, texts and minutes that is $10. I don't use much texting on my phone anymore because most people I message with are on iMessage. It's rare I have used 300 texts in a month. On that Pixel phone I used over 1000 texts easy. I have spent hours on end researching pre-paid carriers and not much info is out there about switching experiences with red pocket. I'm going to post my experience on the red pocket reddit page.

Re: Headphone Recommendations

I've had the m50xs since 2015 and in terms of audio quality and bang for the buck you really can't go wrong. If you are looking on the cheap side if you will, then the amazon basics over the ear headphones are worth a look. I've found with headphones, sound is subjective and I've had to buy a few pairs and return them to amazon to find the right ones for me. If earbuds are more your thing, then look no further than the Sony extra bass earbud headset. They have both a wired and Bluetooth version. I forget the model number now. Yes they have bass but it's not too much in my opinion. But the m50xs will give you the cleanest sound.

Hello everyone. I'm looking to install XP on a spinning Hard drive I have in a Dell Optiplex 790. I have always wanted to install xp on this system. Is there any talking win PE things that work on XP or am I going to have to go the old school answer file or N-Lite root? I have always wanted to experience XP running natively  on an I7 and 16 GB of ram for some reason. I had it running on an old hp 7900 with a 3 GHZ core 2 duo and was blown away. I think it was the e8400 chip if my memory serves correctly.

Re: password managers

Hello. I personally use bitwarden. I was using the one built into chrome but given Google's recent track record with the incognito tracking with chrome I completely switched away from chrome and went to brave. The only thing is the bitwarden app can use a bit of work on the IOS app. Some parts of it you have to drag your finger on the screen to get where you need to go but that is only viewing passwords when you click on them and the password generation part of the app. I will be contacting them and see if they have been made known of this. But don't let that  stop you from using on IOS. I have been using it for 2 weeks or so and find it very usable and it works perfectly on a browser or the windows app. Can't speak to the mac app. If you guys want to read an article about the chrome tracking thing, here you go.https://thenextweb.com/apps/2020/06/04/ … e-lawsuit/Also another note on bitwarden. You can have it integrate into the iPhone keyboard and you can autofill passwords for apps and websites no problem. I have been looking for something like this for years and finally found. I hope this helps you all out.

Re: Prepaid cell phone services

Hello everyone. I'm still leaning the red pocket direction. I have some other people I know who are also looking to switch to pre-paid. all the info I have found is very mixed when it comes to red pocket. Some people say they are rip offs and others have 0 issues. So I'm just going to experience it for myself and draw my own conclusions. If you ask me, even $40 is really steep for a single person's cell phone bill. For me, $30 is really as much as I'd be willing to pay. I'm not a heavy data user either.  but at the same time, $40 would be a good price for an unlimited plan. Even $50 but not $60 unless the plan has perks that not many other companies can offer. If you all are looking to cut down your bill, I'd recommend looking at your past 6 bills or so and figure out how much data you have used. I used to use a crap ton of data on my phone but that was because I was staying with a friend and they did not have home internet at that moment. I use my phone for blindsquare, some facetime calls here and there and streaming youtube or other internet radio while traveling. I put the youtube music to audio only mode and that really saves data. I also save my favorites from youtube music locally if I know I'm going to be traveling for an extended amount of time. So for me, I'm thinking 3 GB is a good amount. But the cool thing is if I find that 3 GB is too little, I can just bump myself to the next plan and just pay the difference. With red pocket that would be $19 for 3 GB and then $30 for 8 GB.Also for anyone who is interested, I'll post my speedtest results. I'm going to try the AT&T network out first. Then if that does not suit me, I'll get a Verizon sim. I don't like a lot of practices of both AT&T and Verizon so that is why I stayed with T-Mobile for so long. T-Mobile has really improved since 2013 when I first joined but their biggest problem is their signal still does not penetrate buildings well and there are some buildings even  here in the Orlando area T-Mobile does not work in. So this is why I really hope red pocket works out well.

GPD Win Max?

2020-06-05 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : austingrace via Audiogames-reflector

GPD Win Max?

Anyone pick one of these up yet or planning to do so? I'd love to hear your experiences. As for me, I don't plan on buying one. As much as I'd love to, I don't have disposable income to drop on computers like that. LOL I'm interested to see how loud the fans get and if they will rev up like the win 2 with something as simple as watching a youtube video in a web browser. I'm also interested in how the keyboard is. I hear it's much better than on previous machines. I have heard about people emulating ps3 and I hear it runs the latest triple A games really well. The win 2 could run rocket league and games like that, but  even then alt tabbing around windows 10 while the game was running was sluggish. I'm not sure of pricing on it but I'm sure it will be north of a grand. So if you are lucky enough to get one, I hope you enjoy the heck out of it. Plus the processor they went with is no slouch either. It's the i5-1035G7. If you all want to watch vids on it then go on youtube and look up The Phawx. He has a good 10 or more vids about it. It's mainly gaming tests but to me it has really interested me to watch the jump we have made in 2 years. And I think I recall posting on here back then saying something to the effect waiting 2 or 3 years for these kinds of form factors   to have I5-I7 power in one of these things and we are finally there! So hopefully when it comes time to buy a new laptop, I can finally purchase a laptop that can fit in my pocket again. I still really miss the win 2 if I'm perfectly honest but the trade offs of that particular model were not worth it to me. I hope in 2 or 3 years from now, this kind of laptop will still continue to be produced.

As long as you have any I3 to an I7 processor released in the past 10 years you should be good. Anything besides that, no idea. Even low powered M3's like in the gpd win 2 should handle things like this. The nice thing about audio games is there is not too much they can do to tax computers for the most part.

It's called flex brew if you all are interested. I want to try some new coffees out there. I'm more of a dark roast kind of person and I do like flavor in coffee. Sometimes I drink it black so that is why I pay attention to flavors. I don't like the cheap stuff for sure. I know of San Marco and Death Wish  but have not tried  death wish yet. I'm on amazon a lot so that is where I do most of my browsing but will order from other sites as well. What coffee do you all like and where can we get it if we want to try it? Another brand I have had that is good is New England coffee.

Prepaid cell phone services

Hello everyone. I'm looking to sign up for a prepaid service. I'm looking for something in the $20 range or so. I'm not looking for something like $40 for unlimited or whatever. I'm fine with 3 gb of data or so but can work with 2. I found this app called sweet and it said it could get me a plan for $15 a month with unlimited everything including data. I don't mind if it's like 1 mbps or whatever. I mainly use my phone for streaming radio and accessing gps apps while out and about and  store  music locally when need be so that also saves data for me. I'm on wifi a lot so that is why I want to move away from unlimited data. I pay $100 on tmobile right now but that is for my iPhone 11, taxes and the plan. The plan is $60 and the phone is $31 then the rest is taxes. So as you can see, $60 for phone service is getting old quick. Especially when I have only used 500 mb or so every month for the past 6 months or so. So what do you all use? I'll keep you all posted on this adventure. I may end up bouncing around a few carriers if this sweet service does not work out.Thank you

Re: Download link to virtual audio cable?

That was the name of that program. VB Cable. I could not find it for years on end. It's good for a laptop set up away from the mixer. Sometimes I need to do podcast or audio work in the field and need a way to  get audio from youtube or another program while recording in an audio editor and this does the trick. Also a few notes for people like us. It's a good idea to invest in a $5 usb audio adapter so your screen reader TTS can go through that and the laptop audio card is freed up. Also I found a very good pair of Sony bluetooth headphones for $50 or so. The model is WI-XB400 and it's on amazon and at best buy. The bluetooth addon for NVDA makes these a very viable option. Yeah virtual  audio cable is very laggy and could never get it sounding right whenever I tried it.  vb audio cable was actually my makeshift mixer for years on end until I could finally afford a proper board that could let me isolate my screen reader audio in my headphones. I had a mixer and the garbage thing did not have that setting. Then again it was a $80 Alesis mixer. For anyone who loses speech during installation, Just hit control plus NVDA plus S then tab once and change the selection and hit enter. If you still have no speech, repeat that until speech comes through. I remember losing audio the first time I installed vb cable and then I tried that tip and eventually I got my sound back. Also make sure your default device is not vb audio cable so you can hear your windows sounds and other program sounds if need be.

I honestly was shocked at just how much that helps. Second, drinking water is very important. I have a 32 OZ insulated cup and I go through at least 2 or 3 refills or this cup every day. Three, exercise is important and yes it can be enjoyable. It's all about your mind set and attitude. I have a talking scale I found 10 years or so ago and I use that to track my weight. But I know they have scales that can interface with your phone. Hope this helps you all.

Well I see not much has change with avast and their awesome installers. If you all need/want a program to help you make sure these installers can't install stuff on your system without you knowing then use unchecky.https://unchecky.com/I literally had to re-install win 10 last year as a result of avast being installed on my system without me knowing. Could not get NVDA OCR to work and did not have eyes around to help.

Agreed with blindsquare and the i Phone for sure. Could not find an app on android that was like blindsquare. Sure there are GPS apps for blind people on android but I just feel like blindsquare has a much easier layout and presents the information the best. I'd say nearby explorer is the way to go on android though. Also was not impressed with the victor stream. Granted this was back in 08 when I used one. The blind shell is a good idea for sure but I would imagine going from an i Phone to that is a huge change.

Well ever since you asked, I'm going from memory so may miss something. My first phone was some nokia on pre-paid, then some Kyocera bar phone on verizon that lasted for a year or so, then the LG VX 4500 in 05, nokia 9300 I got in late 06 and kept until May of 08 or so, then a Motorola Q9H on AT&T, then had the htc fuze and touch pro 2 and those phones were always giving me issues. In 2010 I got an iPhone 4, then iPhone 5 in 2012, then iPhone 5S as my main phone and had a nexus 5 for a few months but then sold. Then iPhone 6 plus, 6S plus, then a regular 6S, 8 Plus, Galaxy S8 (only kept it for a few months(, then the pixel 3a and now an iPhone 11 that I want to hang onto until it literally croaks Getting sick of messing with all these phones and just want something that works and this 11 fits that bill. Oh yeah I had a nexus 6P but did not like it so sold it as well. You'll see a common theme here is that when I went to android, I got sick of it so quickly. 2019 was my final time messing with Android. If android works for you that's awesome but for me it just cut down on my productivity on the phone.

It unchecks all those boxes in those installers so programs like AVG don't get hoisted on you Hoping you don't have to reformat. If you can, I'd see if someone is able to click the mouse and get through the uninstaller that way. I have tried with both JFW and NVDA and both of them are not able to navigate the installer. It has been like this since who knows when.

I put the soundblaster in when I  first bought the computer but I moved on from the surround system. The laptop has one sound card but I have a USB sound  dongle and the mixer is usb so the laptop has 3 sound cards as it's disposal if needed. Which is not needed much. My future computers will be coming from this local shop because I find the performance to price is really hard to top. Yes the new processors may be more efficient but for my needs these old i7s more than fit the bill.

This is something I personally do. Every time a new NVDA version is released, I make a back up copy of my customized NVDA on a usb flash drive. that way I always have a back up copy of NVDA. Don't worry, it took me forever to stop hitting windows U to get narrator up. I don't recall when they changed to Windows control enter but it was just windows enter at one point but then it was super easy to enable narrator by accident. Also if for whatever reason you can't get NVDA or narrator up, you can just hit windows R and type narrator or NVDA and you should be able to get them running.

Only ran it as a portable copy but even then I saw the changes if you will. In terms of addons, there is a lot of work being done and hopefully by the official launch of 2019.3 you should be able to use most if not all addons from the past. Granted it needs to be updated first. I'm going to keep a portable copy of 2019.2 and the set up file as well. This is a thread where we all can share our experiences and whatever else.

Re: Kodi with NVDA, somehow still possible?

2019-11-09 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : austingrace via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Kodi with NVDA, somehow still possible?

Hello. I'd like to repost this just encase the cashed version also happens to get lost. How to make Kodi accessible to the blind through the Kodi Screen Reader serviceKodi is, quite possibly, the most well known and widely used media streaming solution out there. You can view all different types of media from video files to image files; you can even play games with it! But there's just one problem. When you first install Kodi on your device, be it your PC, your mobile device or smart TV, there is no screen reader support for the blind/visually impaired. I was very frustrated when I discovered this. However, after some online research, I found the reasoning behind this. Kodi actually has its own built-in screen reader that can be downloaded and installed as a service add-on from within the Kodi program itself. In this guide, I will describe how blind/visually impaired Kodi users like myself can take advantage of the Kodi Screen Reader.About the screen readerKodi Screen Reader is a powerful tool that allows blind/visually impaired users to use the Kodi Media Centre program by speaking aloud items on the screen. It uses the operating system's built-in speech engine, like SAPI in Microsoft Windows, to provide speech output to the user. This, of course, means that you cannot change the voice of Kodi Screen Reader without first changing the default voice in your operating system's text to speech (TTS) speech settings. KSR will announce items such as buttons, dialog boxes and progress bars. How to enable KSRThis guide assumes you are running Kodi on either the Windows or MacOS operating system. The mobile (Android/iOS) versions sadly don't have KSR. The below procedure is pretty much the same for both Windows and Mac, but there is 1 small difference.1. Inside Kodi, press Shift + A and press Enter to access the add-ons menu.2. Press Shift + D and press Enter to access the download menu.3. Press Shift + S and press Enter to access the services menu.4. Windows users, arrow down 9 times and press Enter twice. Mac users, arrow down 8 times and press Enter twice. You should hear clicking sounds as you arrow down.5. Wait a short while for the add-on to download and install itself. Once the installation process is complete, you should hear 2 quick beeps and the speech should start. This means you did everything right and the Kodi Screen Reader service is now activated.Congratulations! You have successfully enabled the Kodi Screen Reader! Now you can independently stream and download movies and TV shows to your heart's content. The great thing about all this is that you don't have to manually reenable KSR every time you fire up Kodi; it will automatically activate on startup.

Prepaid cell phone plans

2019-10-21 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : austingrace via Audiogames-reflector

Prepaid cell phone plans

Hello everyone. I'm seriously considering a switch from tmobile to visible which is a $40 a month service ran by verizon. They removed their 5 mbps speed limit and I have had an interest in this company for the past few months. I had post-paid verizon back in 2016 and was so amazed at the coverage and the speeds Verizon was giving. But cost pushed me back to tmobile in early 2017. I have family in the Dakotas and from what I understand Verizon works the best in that area. Plus verizon's coverage is the best in this area but all 4 carriers work good here. I personally do not want to pay a company like at&t again because when I was with them from 2006 to 2012 toward the end they were always changing their rate plans and AT&T is the worst with fees. Does anyone here use pre-paid cell phone service? If so what service and how do you like it? I'm hoping to be able to complete the switch this month but if not it will have to wait until either next month or the first of the year. I also hear conflicting reports about the data speeds on visible and some people had issues with porting over. Or people are just being complainers on twitter and in comment sections and it may not be that bad in reality. I just feel the $60 is awfully steep just for a single person's cell phone bill. I know that tmobile has Metro and I think their cheapest plan is either $30 or $40. $40 is the highest I'm willing to pay right now. Even $50 seems a bit high for me.

Re: moving from I O S

Hello. I'm actually typing this on my PIxel 3A XL. I'm actually thinking of either getting an iPhone 11 on visible a verizon pre-paid company or getting an iPod touch. I may go the iPhoen root again because of seeing AI, blindsquare and some other things. I have found nearby explorer and a few other GPS apps on android. I personally feel that blindsquare on IOS is one of the best navigation apps for the blind.  I also miss the router and the custom actions it offered.  I really think android and talkback have came a long way but it still needs work. My biggest thing I miss from IOS is the 2 finger double tap to answer calls or pause music or whatever. I feel that IOS and voiceover is more pollished compared to android and talkback. I love how customizable android is and having eloquence on my phone and being able to remote into my laptop or mess with my amazon firestick. I have used an iPhoen since 2010 and have had a few android phone through out the years. So I can speak on the whole iPhone vs Android phone from experience. I feel like both OSes have their places. I'd like to hold on this pixel and get an IDevice a few months down the road. I would also say that voice assistant on the samsung phones is a really nice interface to android.

Re: FM transmitters

Hello. I have an fm transmitter I found on amazon for like $10 and I run a part 15 fm station on it and it even transmits to the frequencies of 87.5, 87.7 and 87.9. Whenever I look for a transmitter, these frequencies are very important to me. Because these frequencies are not used too much so you can put it on 87.5 to 87.9 and be guaranteed  a clear signal. I have attached a 6 FT usb cable to the micro usb port and I can cover a whole house and then some. I have a friend that lives like 5 houses down and I still could hear the signal there but it was with a lot of static.

Good old emachines. My grand father had one and every time you powered it on, the fan revs up to 100%. LOL I was never overly impressed with emachines but they were cheap computers back in the early 2000s and everyone wanted a computer back then. I forgot about this topic. Some of you guys are way out-dating me on this technology.

Re: GPD Win 2 - First Impressions

Hello everyone. so after a year and buying and selling a gpd win 2, I can say that I think the future is very bright for these kinds of products. In my personal opinion, the core 3s are just a bit below my personal requirments to be able to use the computer smoothly. I do a lot of youtube and video watching and the win 2's fan was just way too loud. I'd be over at people's houses and everyone woudl hear the fan the minute I started to watch a video or something. I know it's a small computer and all that but right now, I feel like the prices are just a bit too high for the specs you get. So to anyone looking to buy, if you are looking for form over function then that is what you will get. the pocket laptop idea is awesome and I'm really hoping within the next 2 years this technology will be a bit more improved. Rocket league is about the limit of the computer. and rocket league is not a very intense game. Plus the particular unit I had still had the power issues so whenever I charged it, the thing would shut off forcing a windows restart. Plus the newer models now use the 5 A charging instead of just 2 A. My biggest concern about this  computer was repairs and I heard gpd is not very good in that department. as someone who relies on my computer I just could not take that chance. But this laptop I have it is very easy to get repaired if need be. So I'll continue to tote around this m4800 for a few years. I'll be checking out the latest developments in this area.

Hello. Good luck selling it. I was able to get mine sold luckily. These things are a tough sell. No one either wants it or knows what to do with it. As for me, i'm waiting a few years and then I'll look at these types of laptops again if they stick around for that long. The fan noise is just way too much for me. even normal web browsing has the fan running pretty loud. It's truly a niche product. But it was a cool concept and I was glad to have been able to use it for less than a year.

It even has autotune and bluetooth. I'm not sure how to work either. The mixer has a very small screen on it and that is where that interface shows up. It can be learnable but someone would need to go through it with you. I can accept paypal, cash app or zelle. Hello. As someone that owns this computer, I would say that comes down to how much you value form over function. I for one love this computer but this computer is no i7 or i5, Audio games and youtube videos are fine on here. But the fan is running even with just a web browser going and a youtube video. If you have the money to spend on it and you feel like it will benefit you in your life then go for it. I for one really enjoy this thing. I actually tried to sell it but once I could not get it sold I reinstalled my personal stuff on here and started using the heck out of this thing and it is honestly quicker than you may be lead to think. Also this thing can be an audio editing machine if you need it to.  Not sure what the asking price for these are now but I paid $895 back in September of 18. So if you ask me. it comes down to money and how much you feel you will need or use this thing.I hope this helps.

Hello. From personal experience, a 30 watt or more USB C really fixes the charging issues. It's not well documented. The anker cables and chargers work perfectly for this computer.   I figured out that tip on my own. Because the 27 W charger only gives enough power to charge the computer when it is shut down. But once it is on 100%, you may leave the plug plugged in and it will run on AC power. I hope this clears up some things.  Also, if anyone here is interested, you may email me at djaust...@gmail.com

Hello This model was purchased in September  of 2018. In terms of the slow charging, I'd suggest buying a 30 or More usb C wall adapter. When the computer is fast charging,  the device will shut down completely to facilitate the faster charging. When I bought this 27 W adapter, I did not know all the information I know now about the USB C charging. So with the adapter I'll be including, you can use the computer no problem plugged in but yes sometimes it will still stop charging and the only way I have been able to stop that from happening is using a 30 W or more charger.

Re: GPD Win 2 - First Impressions

Hey guys. After almost 9 months with this computer, I'm moving on from it. A few months back, I had gotten the m4800 and ever since then, the win 2 has seen almost 0 use. I honestly don't travel a whole lot at the moment and I'm finding my pixel 3A XL is actually an even better replacement for the win 2. So now I'm hoping to get $500 for it but will also take best offer. I take care of my stuff so the thing looks  practically brand new. If you plan to do audio production on this computer, either move it super far away from the mic or be prepared for fan noise. I was trying to produce podcasts with it and while the computer itself has the power to do audio editing it is just not suitable for me and how I personally produce audio. This thing is truly a niche  product and I really feel like you really either know for a fact you will use the computer and know for pretty sure it will fit in your life or have extra income to buy it. 2 reasons why I want to sell it, first and main reason, over the past 2 or 3 weeks I have been using my pixel more and more and I am finding the things I used the gpd win 2 for my pixel does just as well and is just one device I need to carry with me. I'm the type of person that prefers to have one laptop for everything and one phone for everything. Plus I really could use the money at the moment. At first the win 2 was working out awesome for me because I just really did not like using my i Phone unless I needed to so that really cut down on my usage of the iPhone.  Then by chance I just happened to play with a pixel and was really blown away on what I was experiencing. The main thing I did with the win 2 was web browsing and the occasional audio game or production or listened to music. But my pixel can do all 3 for me and it is something I carry with me everyday. But it is pretty freaking sweet to have a laptop to throw in your pocket. I think in a few years once I'm in the market for a computer I may explore these types of machines again. Maybe by that time, we will have i5 or i7 quality power in these things.

Re: Why do so many blindies bash android?

Some of you may find this interesting to read. Well guys, for the goodness of everyone, I have bought a pixel 3A XL and will be sharing my experience on youtube. Can it replace my iPhone 8 plus? I can't answer that question. Now before the android or iPhone bashers come out, I have used iphones and androids since 2010. 2010 was my first iPhone 4. 2013 was my first time with android with an LG mach and a galaxy s4. After that, it was a nexus 5 in 2014, then a pixel 6p in 2016 then a galaxy s8 last year and now a pixel 3a. I have used iPhone as daily driver since 2010 and I'm so sick of how restrictive it is. I heard that a lot of google's accessibility has come a long way in 9.0 so I want to see what's up for myself. Plus I wanted an android device to mess with but not an S9 or S10 quality. so I held out and the pixel 3a XL sounds like such an amazing phone for the money. Keep in mind, I do not play games on the phone so I prob won't tax it much. But the journey starts whenever the phone gets dropped off. But I will still have my 8 plus and I will be Thoroughly beta testing ios 13. Really hoping to help make google make progress in braille support. I personally will not buy another Samsung device because their updates. I prefer to have the latest version of an OS and I don't want the phone company (carrier( or the OEM who makes my phone telling me when I can get my updates. I know the 3A XL is not the most powerful phone but I really think I will end up liking it a lot. I honestly loved my S8 until I saw how slow samsung's updates were.

Re: An apology

Hello. As someone in my early 30s, maybe I can give some advice for what it's worth. Believe it or not, I have similar tendencies. The first thing to do, is stop overselling yourself. Don't promise to release something and not follow through. I ran a radio station called The Blade back in 2006 and I have ran it on and off over the past 13 years. I over promised and could not deliver. I would say figure out what you are capable of doing and don't take on or start like 10 projects at one time. Also a good step is admitting you are wrong. I don't know you personally but I would encourage you to get help as mentioned above. Also, if you are able to, find a good friend (outside of this community as well) who is a bit of an outsider that you can trust and get to know. I really feel like having someone you can be 100% honest with is very important. This is something I always remind myself of. A lot of people don't know me in real life and you can only learn so much about a person from an online forum or twitter or whatever. If I don't know someone's story, then I have 0 room to judge. So if people don't know you in real life or for who you really are, then I would not concern myself with what they think about you. whenever something happens, I would suggest stepping away from your computer, phone and other technology  and go outside or leave the room entirely. I know I for one am so quick to act in the moment and act on my emotions and end up doing months or years of damage in less than a 5 minute span. Sorry for the rambling. LOL But I hope this helps in some shape or form. Another thing I have learned is it's good to sit down and write plans for a project down and really think about how to start. I think a lot of people dive head first into things and don't think about it. People will forgive you or they won't. I would not concern myself with that either honestly. It's not worth worrying about. Last but not least, don't please everyone. Because there is no way everyone will be happy with you. If you are happy with yourself and what you are doing then that is awesome. And if you are not, nothing wrong with that either. But most importantly, don't do anything stupid or anything you can't take back. I have been close to ending it all myself and it is a very dark place to be. But at the end of the day, I'm sure there are people who legitimately care about you and would help if you really needed it.

Best tech deal you have gotten

2019-02-28 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : austingrace via Audiogames-reflector

Best tech deal you have gotten

Well guys. Let's hear it.   What was the best deal on tech you found or were able to pull off? Mine would have to be this Dell precision M4800 I found on a local computer store's site. I had to literally have nvda read it to me 3 times before I realized what I had just found.  You guys are well aware  that I sold my Dell inspiron 5577 back in August and got the gpd win 2. But Mr. win 2 over there did not like to be pulled into video/podcast recording work. The fan wanted to be a part of the videos as well. LOL  So after I got done kicking myself so hard I decided to start looking hardcore for something with an i7 for $500 if such a thing was out there and boy was it ever!! Granted it's 2014 technology but let's all be real here. I prob won't tax this computer much but hey I'd rather have too much power in a computer instead of not enough. So for anyone who missed it. $500 somehow landed me with an i7-4810MQ- at 2.8 ghz and goes up to 3.8 ghz, 16 gb ram and a 120 gb ssd. Here is the kicker. The guy that sold me the computer was looking at the computer after he had set up win 10 and he said "oh wow, this thing has a video card." Come to find out, it's a NVIDIA Quadro K2100M graphics card. It's a 2 gb card but don't know much more than that. From what I have gathered after some research, it's not the best for gaming but can do it if need be. It's more for rendering graphics in CAD and things like that. But hey I'll take it. I was not even after a graphics card. I was just after the I7.

Re: suggestions needed for good quality laptop

Hello. In terms of the audio thing, I just told windows 10 to use the default audio driver included in windows. It works better than what people may think.  I'm terrible at explaining things but google has many search results on how to remove the realtech drivers and use the default audio driver. So before you go return a computer, see if that helps with audio issues. Dell is the worst offender right now with audio drivers but don't over look their computers just because of that either.  I almost did not buy this m4800 because I heard waves max audio in the driver details I found online. In terms of buying slightly older technology. My situation was a bit different. I was in a bit of a bind and needed something with an i7 and could get up to 32 gb and had an ssd by default and I needed pretty quickly for work purposes so that is why I settled on the m4800. if money or time was not an option, then I totally would have gotten an i7 from this generation or last gen. But I still say, even high end i7s and even some i5s from as far back as 2014 are still good today. I have actually have an i7 2600K from 2011 in my optiplex 790 and that thing is still super fast 8 years later on.

Re: suggestions needed for good quality laptop

Hello. I don't know if anyone here besides me has found that buying older business class laptops is erally the way to go. Like my case for instance. The GPD win 2 (not by choice I should add) was serving as my main computer. I needed a laptop to be able to do audio work and video editing in the future. I was not cheaping out this time. As luck would have it, I stumbled on a Dell precision  m4800 being sold locally for $500. I remember first reading the specs and thinking "This is not right." But it was very right. LOL So needless to say, by Thursday afternoon the computer was in my hands. So the more nerdy among  us is wondering what specs are we talking? Well folks, this is no core m3 or even i3 or anything like that. No, this is an intel i7-4810MQ- processor at 2.8 ghz and goes up to 3.80 ghz. Some of  you may notice this is a processor from Q1 of 2014. But that is not the best part. This is a very well specced laptop for the money. I have 16 gb of ram, a 120 GB SSD and a nice little surprise I was let in on once I got to the store it has an NVIDIA Quadro K2100M graphics card which I had never heard of. Turns out this is a 2 gb card but it's a slight downgrade from the 1050 I had in the inspiron 5577. I did have one concern but I found a way around. This laptop have the infamous  waves max thing and that almost stopped me from buying it. But then I remembered the good old win 10 update  audio driver trick and it worked perfect!! I can go up to 32 GB of ram and have an MSata slot as well. The plan is to upgrade storage first and then ram. 16 GB is not bad but my plan for this computer is to have this sucker maxed out. I have had to sell 2 I7 computers in the past 2 years and I'm not selling this one or letting it slip through my hands.  So all this to say, if your budget allows for it, go check newegg and a few other sites for used work station or business laptops. Yes they may be 4 or 5 years or older but a lot of us don't need graphics cards and whatnot. A nice fast high-end i5 or i7 is really good for people like us. I have had my gpd win 2 and even that runs pretty quick for what it is. I say if you can, try to pin down the right computer you need and for the money you have. If it was me, I'd say try to go for the higher end of your budget and research how easily upgradeable the computer is for the future.

Hello. I'm not sure if you guys are aware of this but you can buy off lease laptops from a re-seller. There is a place here in Orlando that gets those computers and upgrades and cleans them up and sells them for very good prices. And yes they ship. You can get an older model i5 or even an i7 for about $230 or so. I personally exclusively buy my computers from them now except for the gpd win 2 of course. Here is the link to their store. https://refreshcomputers.net/shop/

Hello all. I could not contribute every month  but maybe $20 or so every few months.  I really think this is a good idea.

Re: Can't accept license agreement on Logitech options

Hello everyone. Just to let you all know, I forgot this gpd win 2 has a touch screen on it. LOL So I used that to accept the license agreement. If I was on my desktop, I would use the mouse to do it.

Can't accept license agreement on Logitech options

2018-12-15 Thread AudioGames . net ForumOff-topic room : austingrace via Audiogames-reflector

Can't accept license agreement on Logitech options

Hello everyone. I was trying to update the Logitech options  program yesterday and I could not accept the license agreement. I could not even tab around the interface. I was trying to accept it and every time I would navigate to a certain part of the screen it would open another tab in chrome with the license agreement and would do so every time you navigated to a certain area. It was so weird. as a result, I had 10 or so tabs open on chrome and had no idea where they were from. It turns it was all the Logitech license agreement. So if anyone else tries to update, this is what you are in for.

Re: Commentary Screenreader: do we have vO equivalend for Android?

Hello. I don't know how possible this is but if I did switch back to android, I would gladly pay someone to include awesome braille support in a screen reader. That is the whole reason I sold my S8 in the first place. I'm a heavy braille user and android was not cutting it for me. I use a smart beetle. Could not get BRLTTY to work that well either.
