Re: Considering Twitter, seeking suggestions

I second what a lot of people have said about tw blue being the way to go. I've only been using it for 4 or 5 months now, but it's great. There is also the qube, though whether or not that one is still being updated I can't tell. I do have it installed, and the last time I checked, which was a few days ago, it still works. From what I can tell, the qube and tw blue have very similar hotkeys and interfaces.

That's just stupid, blindie vibes. Use what you want people. I've heard that before because I had a mixer at one point and someone said it gives off a blindie vibe or it's such a blindie thing to do. Really? I guess shallowness isn't limited to the sighted.

Re: Considering Twitter, seeking suggestions

I can't say a lot now because I'm still in the process of creating a new Twitter account, but I had a good experience with TWBlue, though you're not missing on a whole lot if you just stick with the web  which still has some nifty hotkeys for navigation. Tween wasn't bad at all, but I couldn't find an individual merit for it, especially with its lack of English documentation.

Re: Considering Twitter, seeking suggestions

If you call taking advantage of the resources at your disposal projecting a blindy-ish vibe, then sure. In truth you're projecting a blindy-ish vibe every time you open up an audiogame, or post to audiogames.net, or switch controls with audio themes, or accidentally leak a vague sound from VO while on the go... Case and point it doesn't matter. It's convenience, pure and simple. As blind users we technically don't need a UI, and the ability to check and reply to DMs from literally anywhere with a single keystroke is a time-saver. there is zero reason this has to be limited to twitter clients. While I haven't explored the idea past filing away on the list of hypotheticals I'd love to but will probably never get to... It would be theoretically possible to create a system-wide bridge for global actions. Devs register their apps with a mapping of keystrokes. Through the bridge you could configure these to your liking, and easily cycle between apps to prevent cases where you start to run into conflicts or colossal hotkeys. From there the possibilities are endless. Thunderbird access plugins, Foobar components, NVDA global plugins, TWBlue compatibility so you don't have everything it registers by default... ... Essentially streamlining the concept of global hotkeys, doing away with implementations on an app by app basis wherever possible. Like I said nothing you'll see me hacking on right now or tomorrow or probably ever, priorities, but if someone wants to take a stab at it I'd happily buy them a coffee or two for their time. All this being said Tween isn't bad.

@7, I never got the hype over the global shortcuts. It just sends a very blindy-ish vibe and I personally don't like it ,and like Tween's interface better. To each their own, though. And another JAWS shortcut is alt windows down/up/left/right arrows when in a web page.

I personally just use Twitter on the web or on my phone, I have TWBlue though for when I need to make a long tweet or when I need to be allerted on pc fast, but most of the time my phone is arround. If you are on ios, just use the official app because it is great, or Twiterific if you feel like you need something with more actions and on android I have the official, but also thought of buying Tweetings, had it yesterday but refunded it, since I am not sure if I want to keep it or not.Handle is @DeadEndAngel1 if anyone wants to add, I follow everyone back if you are from here.

Some, not all. I've used it with jaws before without too many problems, the only keyboard shortcut I remember off the top of my head being blocked is the one to open user timelines. Tween also doesn't contain the ability to use global keyboard shortcuts.Handle is @arqeria, btw.

LOL the people who are recommending TW Blue as a good client for a JAWS user. JAWS shortcuts interfear with alot of TW Blue's shortcuts. Sure you can change them, but why bother, when you can just use Tween?

If you use Twitter on the web on a Desktop/Mac PC, install as an app if using a Chrome-Based Browser, and either switch to Focus Mode/Turn Off Single Key Mode (NVDA-Shift-Space) or the Virtual PC/Structural Navigation Mode JAws/Orca+Z.)

Re: Considering Twitter, seeking suggestions

yep, TWBlue is the way to go. I wouldn't use twitter without the ability to run things in the background like you can with the blindie clients. It's great because you can literally use the app in any application and not have to worry about switching windows. You can use it the standard way of being in the app window if you really want to, but honestly why you would ever want to is beyond me.

Considering Twitter, seeking suggestions

Topic says it all, really.I know what Twitter is, have occasionally read the twitter feeds of specific users via chrome. I know the basic premise. But I know that most VI people use twitter clients, and I'm sort of curious as to which are good, which aren't, and how it all sets up.Bear in mind that my primary screenreader is Jaws. I use NVDA for specific applications, but since twitter is something I want to potentially run in the background, like discord or whatever else, I don't want to be switching screenreaders every time I check it, so if your suggestion is 95% okay with NVDA for some reason but really bad for Jaws, it's not going to be ideal for me.Also, if there are any specific tips or resources you think I should have, feel free to point them out. Thanks in advance.
