Hi all, registered just to provide a link to the old (unofficial) Sryth forum that existed before the more recent forum was taken down by the GM:http://shadowwolf47.proboards.com/I got involved with Sryth right when they moved to the new forum, and stopped playing (until this month, lifetime membership deal) soon after that one went down. The old forum still had/has people posting to it, but looks like activity is gradually declining just like everyone else's enthusiasm here.Also, sad to see that the Wikia page also has deteriorated since I've worked on it. I echo the other opinions that a forum and interacting community can do a lot for maintaining a strong player base, and feel that this is a large deficiency that instead should be supported by the GM. But with no forum, no promised "in-game messaging" (I think? Haven't played too much yet), no streamlined mobile support (I think I sug gested that several times to the GM many years ago), this will be a game that I can only half-heartedly get into, on my desktop PC, and socially isolated. Far as I can tell, there are no more startup scenarios where you could gain a power or certain eq, sadly.But theres a link in hawklor where you go to the outfitters and get your starting armor and such. However, the GM has given us a much more powerful weapon (mainly GoblinDoom) then in years past. The Hale blade is still buyable once you complete the arms at talwardon adventure in Trithik.I use that weapon just because it used to be my favorite weapon years ago, and its nice to get healed in small bits during battle if Im running easy mobs in various adventures.I still subscribe to Sryth, and I enjoy it as I only play for a couple hours a day, and still have yet to complete the last couple proving grounds. Also running two chars takes time too.Another thing I enjoy is having your own serious castle or keep or whatever that has its own adventures and add ons.Yep, I too have spent quite a sum of rl cash on Sryth, but I still e njoy it very much. Re: Does Anyone play Sryth anymore? For me, the quickstone thing isnt even really the point.Look at the Proving Grounds series 2. The stuff thats supposed to unlock more of the Mad. Hes got nine little adventures up so far, most of which either involve enigmatic choices or the killing of Oakaruk if my memory serves, and part 10 has been not yet available for about half a year. I wouldnt mind this as much, except he hyped it a great deal by saying stuff like the next scenario will be available x and it wasnt.The Tome of Attainment has literally been coming soon since 2009; I can recall being really excited about it during a trip I took to Ireland in the fall of 09, and five years later, still no tome.We had that little update last year about explorable areas, but even thats just another way to grind. Nothing was really new and interesting over Halloween, and the Christmas event, while nice, was simplistic in the extreme. Even its culmination was a winding path with essentially no puzzle to speak of, and a fat reward.If I thought my offering a hand as a storywriter would help him, Id do it. As it stands, though, I think hes just slowly running out of gas and doesnt like admitting it. Most developers dont, Ive seen it happen before and Im sure Ill see it happen again. Its very easy to make little bundles of gear that give permanent bonuses and adventurer tokens, so he keeps pumping those out; its not so easy to figure out how to finish his Proving Grounds thing, or what (if anything) to do about the piece of Doomwall, or half a hundred other things. I also feel, perhaps unfairly, as if the lack of a forum is deliberately serving a purpose of isolating Sryths players so they dont support these feelings with one another. Whats more, the wiki doesnt appear to be maintained as well anymore; theres a weird little scenario with a faintly glowing statue you can touch up to ten times, for instance, and I havent a clue what its actually going to do because its not actually referenced anywhere. If anyone knows, please do let me know; I want to know if its worth bothering. Plot points that have been dangling for years are still dangling, including the hugely-hyped Tome of Attainment, just to name one. I feel like the GM has tons of great ideas, but then gets stonewalled and goes off in another direction.Mostly I agree with the last few posters. I check to see whats new every so often, but theres nothing that really jumps up and bites me. The only worthwhile change hes made lately is that if you have a quickstone, you can now do multiple levels of the Mad per day, rather than arbitrarily being stuck to just one. Im so glad I already have a quickstone. The continuously increasing AT prices for things and the astounding lack of content over the past year are my main two complaints.Mostly, what Ive seen over the past twelve months are repetitions of contest after contest with only a few tiny hints of new material thrown in.I like Sryth as a game. I enjoy playing through the stories and adventures. But I too feel that over the last few years, its become all about money in the pocket and less about creating more content to play. I was there when stoneback hill was put in as a paid adventure. I saw the signs even then that this could go very, very wrong. But things were great for a long time. I fell in love with the proving grounds adventures. But then around 2009 or 2010, it really started going downhill. Adventures where starting to be incredibly less creative. The spark was gone. It became clear that the game had become nothing more than a grab for cash and little else. I just hope it can die in peace someday. Ive had trouble on previous maps where I need to note locations, or just keep track of my trail. Ive been using Microsoft Office Excel to keep the map in a spreadsheet, since it has handy coordinates. The save button can easily be located and I can bring up the different sections with no problem. If I could get Chrome to download on the Mac, depending on how accessible it is Id try it there too but for some reason every time I click the download link it doesnt work. If anyone has any suggestions feel free to throw them at me. Ive renewed my membership again, since without it theres really no point as most content, if not all, he adds for AG members only.However, when I learned I had to have 1000 ATs for Quickstones, an item that ive never had, is something I want and have the gold at least to get it now, it just put me off from playing. I actually stopped at the beginning of the Pumpkin Patch maze a few years ago, logged back in about a month ago and just completed it.How much money would I need to donate to get 1000 AT? I had just logged in and renewed right after this annoying change was implemented.Also, regarding new content, is he adding perm content? It seems like the Festable of Blades goes on every year, and the test in which to complete it, but I have yet to see a post which reffrences new perminent adventures that will be in the game long term.As Ive bairly completed a lot of the game it doesnt matter much to me, but when people talk about how much content, how much of that stuff is special occation content and the like?I just hope I dont have to pay over 100 or heck, even 50 dollars to get something that I think should be mor expencive in-game rather than me having to spend more real money on a useful item.I go to the Windowless Blue Door and I cant see how many ATs I have at the moment.Anyone have suggestions to get the required number of ATs without draining my bank account?Also, another thing. I appreciate all the work Matthew has put into this game, and really, I do enjoy it. I just dont enjoy the pay to play aspect, for example, hes hiking the at price of quickstones yet again. I know, the man needs to support himself and hes not evil for trying to bring in extra revenue. It just discourages me a little, because I dont have extra money like that; I probably wont renew in March as it is.That said, the game is enjoyable to me, especially for sentimental reasons. Re: Does Anyone play Sryth anymore? The save now issue wasnt always an issue. Before the latest IOS, gameplay on the iPhone was pretty much all right. I never had a problem. I didnt start having problems on the computer either before Apple put out Mavericks last year. Ever since then, both on my Mac and on the iPhone gameplay has been difficult and sometimes impossible. I hate that, as Ive put a lot of man hours into a character and lets just say a lot of money as well. I only say this, as I have gotten Shryth working great with Chrome on Windows, when I use to use Windows. Will have a go with it now on my Chromebook.Im gonna have to create a brand-new character, as I havent played in that world for years! Does Anyone play Sryth anymore? Hello. I admit its been a while but I wanted to pose a question to you all and see if I can get some feedback. I still play Sryth quite a lot, though not nearly as often as I used to, a lot of the reason being due to the fact on my iPhone and Mac Voice-over doesnt read things very well, that is to say on the Mac I have to reload the page every time I click a link and on the phone scrolling doesnt work correctly and I cant always save my game. Ever since I got Mavericks last year and IOS8 this year it hasnt worked right. Things didnt improve on Yosemite either. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could be going on or any suggestions as to what to do?
