Re: Let's give Pokemon go another chance So, when you encounter a Pokemon, you hear it's cry. Sometimes the cry plays a few times during the encounter when the pokemon is dodging. The easiest way to tell if you are in an encounter screen is to turn VO off and tap the middle of the screen. If you hear a bump like sound, that is a poke ball getting ready to be thrown. Remember not to move your finger during that initial tap if you're not sure if you're in in an encounter, because that will flick your ball. You can also hold the finger down on the screen and then when you know you are focussed on the ball, flick it upwards. The difference between the ball missing and hitting is the sounds that follow. If you hear a ding sound you missed the pokemon completely, but if you hear an upwards wooshing sound and a few lower pitched dings, then hopefully a few wabble noises, then the pokemon has a chance to be caught. After three wabbles the pokemon will always be caught. Also, I'd recommend turning the music off when you get the chance. Tap the menu on the bottom center of the screen, then tap settings. Also, whatever you do, do not use AR mode, it's completely inaccessible. Make sure to have that off. I hope all this helps. Re: Let's give Pokemon go another chance Sorry for the double post, but now I am really stuck.The game said there is a Pokemon nearby and gave me some pokeballs to catch them, then I got just 2 things, a catch a pokemon button and an image that doesn't say anything.If I press on any they just make a sound, same with voice over off, pressing on every part of the screen it just makes a sound, but nothing happens.I've tried everything, from swiping, tapping with multiple fingers, even restarting the app, but no luck.Any help would be appreciated. Re: Let's give Pokemon go another chance Good question. In simple terms it's just a swipe up from the midle of the screen. In more complex terms first you select a kind of poke ball you want to use by tapping the bottom right, assuming you really want to catch the encountered pokemon, that is. Then, you can make it easier or more interesting by feeding berries to it by tapping the menu onn the bottom left. When selecting a berry, tap the bottom of the screen once you selected it and it will be fed with a chime like sound. After that, just swipe up, not too slowly but not too quickly either otherwise you might lose the straight line. You can also do curve balls but those are very tricky to do. This of course is a very crude way of doing it and visual players still have an advantage in that they can see when the pokemon is dodging the ball or they can throw better, more skilled throws than we can, (I've never gotten an excellent throw before, only great) but it does work, at least if you have a built up supply of poke balls when catching something that is difficult. Yeah, unfortunately as I said in the beginning, it's only newer iPhones with Screen Recognition installed, which is to say the XS and newer, so anything from 2018 should work, guessing the same with the iPads, but I don't know about that exactly. The quickest way to add someone as a friend is using their trainer code which is a long string of numbers. The flicktype keyboard is definitely not the most reliable option when it comes to this game, but it seams you can't switch out of it in my case so I have to turn screen recognition off when inputting someone's trainer code or when searching for pokemon, and turn it on again when I press return, but besides that, it does work. I think there was a forum topic a while back about screen recognition accessibility for games we haven't gotten real accessibility for yet, I think that needs more attention. I would really like to know if there really is some other games I don't know of that would become at least half way decent using this method. Let's give Pokemon go another chance Hi all, So, I know people have written about this already, but I think it still deserves to be mentioned and not just scraped out because it isn't accessible enough(although maybe the problem is the requirements). Anyway, after a completely unexpected aquisition of an iPhone 11 this christmas, one of the first things I wanted to do on it was to see, in deed, how accessible is Pokemon go from a completely blind person's perspective, with Screen Recognition enabled, of course. And, to my surprise, it's mostly workeable! And that's a lot, considering other apps I've tried so far didn't work nearly as well as this. I am able to read most text and navigate around the interface, asside from some weird quirks sometimes, with the minor drawback that I need to have my phone unmuted just in case I get alerted to something I might have clicked on by mistake, as well as the fact that sometimes scrolling is not easy to do with VO enabled, so I turn it off, swipe upwards and then turn it back on again. Here's the thing. I wanted to get into the world of Pokemon go mostly just to catch things and mess around. I'm not trying to get anywhere, in fact I usually don't get the choice to move out from my house because lockdown, so I stay inside and check things from in there, which defeats the purpose of, you know, having an adventure, but the holidays event and the current celebration event where they count down the regions from Unova to Kanto makes it to that I always find something new and interesting. For now, that is, I'm sure there will come a time when no events will be in place and I'll constantly be finding the same old boring things all the time, but until then, I'll have as much fun with it as I can. About what I'm trying to do, my main problem is the gyms and battling in general. I don't seam to be able to get the hang of those accessibly. I don't understand if there's something I'm missing, so I ignore battles completely for now. And, what would this post be without some self advertising? I picked up many many gifts from level ups and other things in the early few days when I started playing, and I have no one to give them to because no one plays this thing anymore. If there's anyone willing to relieve all those gifts from my items list that would be great, since I'm running out of space and I've always wanted to give these away instead of having to throw them instead. Also, if there's anyone who is interested at all in this and has problems working the interface, I could try to help you get around. Thanks for reading.
