I am logging in to steam by using parameters from steam guide, but I see that somethink isnt working correctly, because steam runs by using directx interface instead of no directx mode, which is more accessible for us.I have typed -no-dwrite after parameters needed for login but it doesnt work, it runs not accessible interface.I remember that it was worked maybe a year ago but for some reason it wont works.It isnt a big problem, because I can still use steam with ocr but this parameter should be working.My friend is using the same parameters and it works for him. Sometimes it shows nothing, sometimes I get my username and names of games, sometimes just bits of random text. I have tried using NVDA screen review mode, which indeed I often use in other applications, I've also tried ocr and most recently the Obj pad, nothing works. I assume this is a display problem with the client, indeed inconsistent display is usually the hallmark of very bad accessibility, EG, labels being hidden, text not displaying unless the mouse is scrolled somewhere, windows appearing and disappearing etc.Either way, I know I am not the only person who has had this problem, and given Valve's zero response to anything to do with accessibility I don't imagine it will be solved any time soon, hence why my personal advice with regards to Steam, is to avoid using the shitty client as much as humanly possible. fortunately, it is indeed quite possible to avoid using the client given that so many functions are possible through the website, or through creating windows shortcuts as I said, which is the one thing that makes Steam bearable. Re: problem with steam For those who are wondering about the article mentioned, it is Pitermach's very good guide on how to use Steam with a screen reader, it can be Found here.@vablus, The two best ways of getting to your games I've found, are either to go onto the website, hit the link for your username, then look for the link imaginatively called "games" from there to get a list. For actually running the games, I'd recommend going to program files/steam/steamaps/common, where you can find normal windows game folders for all of your games. From here, just go to the .exe files for each game, and create shortcuts to them, the way you would any normal windows application. this is imho the only good thing to be said about the abysmally terrible Steam client, that you can mostly circumvent needing to use it, and run Steam games like any normal windows game.Hth. I use nvda 2019.3 and read the article on the AG forum "How to use Steam with a screen reader in 2019" I have now tried several times to create an account, but I failed because of the following: I filled in my email address, my country, then the chaptcha, where you have to enter words and selected the checkbox "I agree". Then I clicked continue, but nothing happened. I also didn't get an email from steam. I tried firefox, chrome, edge and different email addresses, but there is always the same result. Now select, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valv\Steam\steamglobalNote: After going to all these sections you need to expand them as they will be collapsed or closed in Jaws's case. Now press tab and then arrow down to language and hit enter. Now, in the dialogue box under value data, you'll see the name of the language. Delete that and type English and hit enter. If you do that, you can just go to Steam's window, press NVDA+control+tab until you get to Scan mode, and navigate through the window using the arrow keys. For most of Steam you won't need to do this, since it shows up similarly to a webpage, but the menus like Store and Library are only accessible that way.You will also need to remember the commands for focusing a mouse's cursor to something (NVDA+NumPadDivide on desktop layouts) and how to click on things if you don't have a mouse (NumPadDivide and NumPadMultiply). I have Another question, do I need to install games to play them? I already had a game purchased and it was placed in my library and I could install the game. The problem was that it didn´t read out the options on the page when I tried to install the game. I can still play it though. This does mean that you will want to take Steam out of your autostarting applications, which in Windows 10 is in the settings sections rather than msconfig.
