Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

Hello:I am proud to announce the recent release of pibuild, the latest iteration of the jenux installation script for arm devices. While only the pi is supported at the moment, adding other devices is trivial, by simply adding variables, a menu choice, and if required, a routine which sets up an fstab, bootloader installation if required, and rootfs customizations if desired, to the generated devpost.sh, run inside the chroot. More exciting, however, is the unified installation method. Previously, jenux for raspberry pi relied on extracting and modifying an arch linux arm rootfs, using a crood set of files extracted on top of the already installed base system. Now, your system is used to create the rootfs, using the same set of packages, modified by the script at runtime to accommodate running on arm devices. After the base system or whatever package preset you select is installed, the main jenux customizations, including firstboot and its dependencies are downloaded and installed to your brand spanking new rootfs. As part of this update, the postinstall script, which enables services based on speech state of the live environment, installs grub on x86 targets, checks for and enables services, sets the environment up for firstboot, etc has been changed to not care what architecture it runs on, so the process is the same on all targets, with the installer now handling the dirty work of doing any architecture or device specific fixes after postinstall runs. While all jenux presets are available to the pibuild script, the alexa for raspberry pi 0 option has been removed. However, if such an option were to be readded in the future, it could be extended as a preset for both jenux itself, as well as raspberry pi builds. I look forward to feedback on this updated arm installation. All the Best: Daniel Nash

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

Hello, at 378, potterspotter13:After installation, the first and subsequent reboots before configuration is complete drop you into a textual first boot setup assistant, which allows you to set your hostname, user name, and password to values of your choosing. If you just hear "quit fenrir", or nothing at all, press enter to activate the first item in the menu, toggle accessibility, which will restore your speech. This accessibility toggle is particularly important, as it determines wether all new users, including the one you will create, will start off with accessibility in the graphical desktop, as well as the state of accessibility on boot for i.e. the login screen. The firstboot script uses my menulib, which in turn uses libnewt/whiptail, so you can either arrow through the selections, or use first letter navigation to select, and press enter to select an option. If you have no sound, try the accessibility toggle. If that does not work, please make sure that if you got the multiple sound card prompt during the install, that the card is connected. If the card is connected or you did not get the card select prompt, try connecting headphones. If headphones do not work, try a USB sound card. If the USB sound card does not work, try the following:1: hit c to select computer name, then press enter. A prompt will come up asking for your computer name.2: at this prompt, press control c, which will drop you into a root shell.3: type "alsamixer" without the quotes, which will bring up the command line volume control.4: hold up arrow for several seconds, which will raise the volume of the first item and see if you hear speech.5: press control c to exit the mixer6: press control d to exit the root shell. When the setup assistant restarts, you may have to toggle accessibility with enter.

Hi there.I've  been wanting to try this distribution.  Is there a way to try it without  installing it on my machine,  like you can with Ubuntu?  I  really only mean to use it for some things, and don't want to risk deleting Windows, which I need for the majority of my tasks, by duel booting Genux onto it. I click on it and an import window appears. I only click on import and I'm almost waiting for 4 minutes and 33 seconds (not John Cage's 4:33) and... Just boom! Sorry, just found an error of a type 0x80070057 code. I'm just virtualising it into VirtualBox 6.1.12. Yeah, I know, a little bit inaccessible, but I'm still trying using it. On a windows 10 dell xps 2 in 1 pc, maybe I don't have disk space?

OK. Here's what you need to do. Open the terminal and run the following commands:sudo pacman -S base-develgit clone https://aur.archlinux.org/yay.gitcd yaymakepkg -siyay -S rtl8723de-dkms-gitAnd your good to go. Yay is a package manager replacement for pacman that allows you to install packages from the Arch User Repository in conjunction with the standard Arch Linux repositories. Pacman and Yay are used together. If you need this done during installation, I can probably whip up an image for you -- but it will not be Jenux-based. If its just after the system installed, temporarily tether your computer via your phone, run the above commands and reboot and wifi should work.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

@351, that's... wa over-complicated. There's no need to mess around in sysfs or to create systemd units (which if done wrong can mess up your system and require a rescue). You need to look for the simple solutions and give them here, dude, instead of giving people over-complicated solutions that risk their systems in the manner 351 does. In 351's case, if someone incorrectly created a unit file it could freeze the boot process or stall it for up to 2 minutes (freezing the boot process is a much more likely scenario though). And messing with the startup settings and creating infinite loops can cause other problems. Next time, suggest better solutions instead of making people do ridiculously over-complicated procedures for tasks that can be majorly simplified.A much, much simpler solution is to go into terminal and do:xset -display :0.0 dpms force offAnd to turn it back on:xset -display :0.0 dpms force onIf either of those don't work, try this:xrandr -qLook for your monitor name (e.g.: DFP1, CRT1, ...). Its usually the second-third line of output. Then:xrandr --output MonitorName --offTo turn it back on, replace --off with --auto.

@351, that's... wa over-complicated. There's no need to mess around in sysfs or to create systemd units (which if done wrong can mess up your system and require a rescue). A much, much simpler solution is to go into terminal and do:xset -display :0.0 dpms force offAnd to turn it back on:xset -display :0.0 dpms force onIf either of those don't work, try this:xrandr -qLook for your monitor name (e.g.: DFP1, CRT1, ...). Its usually the second-third line of output. Then:xrandr --output MonitorName --offTo turn it back on, replace --off with --auto.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

Hello:The keyboard shortcuts as configured by default only work using the mate desktop. If using another desktop environment or window manager, the command for screen off is "sudo screenctl off", while the command for screen on is "sudo screenctl on". If you are still having trouble, try the following:install the intel-gpu-tools package and try the request againas root, go to /sys/class/backlight/ and echo 0 to the brightness fileIf it stops the screen curtain as soon as you hit a key, run the commandin a while loop, i.e. while true;do sudo screenctl off;done, put that in either a init script/systemd unit, easier to control, or in your desktop's startup settings, requires restarting your desktop/machine to disable. If using a systemd unit, assuming your systemd unit is called monitor, to start screen curtain on boot, do:sudo systemctl enable monitorTo disable start at boot, but leave it running:sudo systemctl disable monitorto stop it:sudo systemctl stop monitorsudo screenctl onTo start it immediately, regardless of desktop or other conditions:sudo systemctl start monitorhth

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

If an OS had no error checking it would crash pretty much instantaneously. There are about 32 different exceptions a processor can throw, give or take a few. And if you don't have handlers in for those, well... But post 342 has a good point. As I said in 340, the execution environment of a program is extremely volatile and cannot be trusted. The users, also, can't be trusted. Though error checking in Jenux isn't as critical as it might be in an operating system, a lot can still go wrong (e.g.: partitioning may fail, the disk may be unplugged or disconnected during formatting, ett) that the system will tell you about. Failing to do something when the system tells you to do it is just dooming your project to complete and utter failure -- and making your users really, really, really mad.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

@339 That's just silly. First of all, I don't have a grudge against Nash. I don't necessarily agree with everything he does, but we can talk. Maybe it turns into a debate and maybe it gets a little heated at times, but I don't have anything against him as a person.Secondly, this is the third machine I've tried it on. My old Asus laptop - now dead, my even older asus laptop - still alive but much unused, and my Asus desktop - new and very much alive. So unless this thing really just hates Asus hardware, I don't know what to say. With the i5 laptop, the one recently trashed, I've ran it in a VM, with the i3 laptop, I've run it on bare metal, and on this desktop, it's been run on a VM. Now put on top of that the testing that ethin's done and your case is starting to look a little weak.As for fixing it, that is very much beyond my ability. Especially since it seems to use a lot of bash scripting, which I am merely a beginner at.It's short-sighted to blame us or our machines when the root cause of the problem is that there is very little to no error checking going on. How many programs will run successfully with out error checking. Even if the user input is all as expected, something else could crop up. Imagine your operating system had no error checking and as soon as anything happened, it just crashed. If these things were actually dealt with, I would have no problem speaking better of the project. After all, it does have merit; but how am supposed to recommend it to others in good conscience when it won't even install on three machines. It also left my i3 laptop unbootable. So if you want to go on thinking it's just Ethin and I having some sort of grudge against Nash, that's fine and you're of course more than welcome to do so. All I will say in that case is have fun living in your blue pill world.

I mean, I'd like to see a Linux distro that's as customized and... Ah who am I kidding, Orca's speech is customized well, but under the hood, it's still Linux. Still the Mate Desktop. Still the thing where it just says "screen reader on" and nothing else and you're expected to know how to get to the desktop and such. Ah well. Linux just has so much potential. But in execution, accessibility just sucks. I mean, I'm first and foremost a user, focused on how things work and how it feels to use it, not really a kind of person like many blind Android users that would just use anything machine no matter what because its just a computer.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

@339, the code is publicly available. I never said that it wasn't. I said that its not possible to contribute like it would be if Nash had initially started with GitHub or another version-control system or source code distribution system. The source code is privately hosted on FTP. There is no way of actually contributing without contacting Nash directly, which is a terrible strategy for contributions these days. We don't speak out like this because of personal grudges against Nash, I can tell you that. And your comparison to Jenux versus major Linux distributions falls flat because all major distributions -- other than rolling release distributions -- are tested on thousands of devices during beta testing, before they're even released. People are able to opt into beta releases, and code is publicly available. People can, however, choose to remain on stable releases if they so choose. Nash doesn't do any of that. He tests his ISOs on like 5-10 machines and calls it good, and rarely listens to constructive criticism. His code is also incredibly difficult to read, let alone parse -- did you miss that part of my post? Therefore, contribution would be quite difficult to do, given that most of his code is written in such a way that its all a bunch of shell magic with no explanation. And as post 337 said, Nash rarely ever does error checking. Just because something works when you run it and you haven't implemented error checking doesn't mean you should keep error checking out. Error checking is a fundamental concept of software development, and any project that's used by more than a single person should have it -- and even then you should have it because computers are weird, and its very, very rare for a computer to execute a complex program exactly as written perfectly, without any kind of failure or problem. Only the most primitive programs -- hello world, simple addition, etc. -- will run with no errors, and even that's questionable because the hello world program can be crashed because the person who runs it might not run it in a terminal, or may have changed the standard output stream to something totally different. In other words, you mustn't ever depend on what the user tells you, because users are idiots and are unpredictable. The same philosophy applies to a programs execution environment: the execution environment is unknown and unpredictable, and very, very volatile. To not do error checking is foolishness of the highest order and anyone who does that is playing a very, very dangerous game of chance. Instead of doing error checking, Nash just uses a loop to have the operation he wants done repeated until it succeeds.

the vm image does need updating. @Ethin and @ironcross32 have been known to trash jennux because of errors they encounter in their personal setup or personal grudges against nash. The jennux source is public and can be gotten by anyone (see earlier posts) and if jennux has that many issues, then instead of just sitting at the keyboard and telling people not to use Jennux, they should fix what ever they see fit to fix and release it and be done with it. Allot of devices have errors, and i know that is not the case with me on my mac and del e7490, but that is the case with any linux distro on many more devices then even jennux has trouble with.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

There are so many problems with this thing it's unreal. Well, I don't have virtualbox because it's generally slower than VMWare workstation so I got the ISO. Now, let me tell you about this installer. There is absolutely no error checking. You will see stuff fly by and think to yourself, "Oh, that's not right", but you won't be able to go back to it. Now, no error checking is the cause, but the effect is that when an error does occur, the script will loop through installing and reinstalling the packages indefinitely.I've mentioned this in the past, and it did get fixed for a while, but it's broken again. Consider this, I'm running my VMs from an SSD. It's a good thing that the writes will all happen in one single cluster. If I tried to run this on bare metal, it would be making writes all over the drive which isn't what you want to have happen with SSDs.Basically, my recommendation is to not use it until the author starts taking error checking seriously, because while things may get fixed temporarily, who knows how long that will last.

Both links are broken. Also, I'm looking at installing android through jenux.I have 2 hard drives.Would i be able to install android on one while keeping windows on the other or can i install it like blue stacks? Also, would i be able to play games like rar2 and pirates and traders on it with relative ease? Thanks in advance.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

hi, glad it worked for you. To set up the pcs games, do the following:1. open up a terminal with control alt shift t. If you're using the gnome desktop, hit alt f1, type terminal, and hit enter to run the terminal application. 2. Install both the yasr screen reader, which will give you a better curses console experience, as well as the preconfigured dos vm by running:sudo pacman -S freedos-accessible yasr3. hit caps lock+s to temporarily silence orca4. type the following command to start a talking shell with yasr:yasr5. If you hear a slightly slower voice with a russian accent, you are in yasr, and can continue. If you don't hear any speech after a few seconds, hit caps lock+s to turn on orca, and continue to appendix a.6. Once you are in yasr, type the following to start up dos:startdosNote: The first time you run startdos, you will hear "blank" for about a minute as the default image is copied to your home directory. On some slow storage configurations, this can take several minutes, as a 1 GB file needs to be copied to your home directory.Appendix A. yasr setupUpon installation, a default configuration file for yasr will be copied to the skeletal user directory. To have yasr use speech-dispatcher, you need to copy this default configuration file to your user account. To do this, run the following commands, substituting user with your username:sudo cp /etc/skel/.yasr.conf /home/usersudo chown user:user /home/user/.yasr.confThis should let you launch yasr with speech-dispatcherAppendix B: dosSo I have this dos thing set up,now what do I do with it? Dos is booting when you hear something about SeBios, then a prompt about FreeDos Kernel and GemEx, followed by the good old c:\> prompt. Once you're at the c:\> prompt, you can type the following to see your files in the virtual dos drive:dir /bTo go into a directory, assuming your directory is called dir, typecd diryou can then run dir /b again to list what's under that directory. To go back one level, typecd ..Most of the games are in the games\pcs directoryTo run shooting range, for example, type the following:cd GAMES\PCS\SHOOTshootTo exit dos and go back into the real world, at the prompt, type shutdown and hit enter. If the VM is locked up or not responding and you need to show it who's the boss by forcefully pulling its plug, hit alt 2. You will be presented with the qemu monitor console. In the console, type:quitthen hit enter. Some games use special keys like escape that get eaten up by the terminal driver. To send keys, hit alt 2 to bring up the monitor console, and type: sendkey escto send escape. To copy files into, or get files out of your dos virtual drive, run the following:udisksctl loop-setup -f ~/.dos.imgThis command will give you a message like:Mapped file /home/user/.dos.img as /dev/loop0.To mount the file to loop at the files inside, run the following, replacing /dev/loop0 with the block device file that was just mapped:udisksctl mount -b /dev/loop0p1This will show something like:Mounted /dev/loop0p1 at /run/media/user/FREEDOS2016.you can then use a file browser, the terminal, a shotgun loaded with file carrying pidgin, a monkey covered data copyer, or anything your heart desires to get files in and in and out of the virtual drive. When done, unmount it by running, obviously replacing user with your user name and loop0 with the block device you mounted above:umount /run/media/user/FREEDOS2016udislsctl loop-delete -b /dev/loop0If you took your dos drive and fed it to the mutated captain crunch loving tuna fish licking frog kissing monkey army from planet x and want to restore it to its factory settings, simply delete the .dos.img file from your home folder. Next time you run startdos, the original, package installed image will be restored, although you will have to wait the same time you originally did when running the program for the first time. I hope this helps.

Hi. I apologise for  reviving  this topic, but I have a question and I really don’t feel like looking through 13 pages to find the answer. So, I installed this into virtual box and it, surprisingly works quite well. The only question is, are we actually able to access these personal computer systems games? If so, how? I installed the Oracle virtual appliance.  I looked in the games menu and there Izant really anything related to that.

See, me and several others have tried to talk to Hacker about this over voice and have been stone walled so completely and utterly, that I don't see that it's really worth messing with. My god, we spent 15 minutes trying to convince him to add a blurb about how it's alpha software and download at your own risk to the description column of his /projects index. This would be something that is easy to implement, and would allow people who don't know what they're getting into to decide whether they want to pursue this image for installation. Until and unless that attitude changes from Hacker, I would consider this project a non-starter. I'm sorry to say that, as I do see the potential in it, and like I said to Hacker, I think it's cool and I respect you for what you're trying to do, but if you literally want to say everything is the end-user's fault, that's an issue.I don't want to drag this out and make it more than it needs to be, if you want to toy with it, go right ahead, at least we'll get a profile of what machines it works with and which it doesn't, but I wouldn't consider this a serious project at the moment.

I've had exactly zero isues in a VM, but I wanted to install this on bare metal to get an easy to use Arch-based system.I'd honestly, Hacker, if I were in your shoes, redo the script, and test on a lot of computers and a different range of hardware befor saying 'oh it works it must be your fault'Explain, exactly, how a simple DD, plugging in and then not touching or powering off a drive that installs everything else on it flawlessly, is somehow my fault instead of a bad download? You're not commenting on the feedback you've got about multiple bootloaders, and several boot partitions, and other issues.@Praj: I woudln't be amazed if it doesn't work for you, lots of people have had issues with the ISO, so don't expect it work right away.

I have no problem installing an Arch manually, my main thing is:1. Already went through the config on of accessibility on the Rasbian image, have no desire to do that all over again. Although to be fair, things have gotten substantially easier since the stuttering audio is out of the equation, and fenrir is being used rather than speakup. However, no a talking arch iso would not boot on a pi. Pi is an arm-based machine. Also, an img is a raw, byte-for-byte image of a disk, that you would dd to the pi's sd card and boot from there.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

Well where is it gonna come from, that's my question. I don't really know anything about the pi, though I've been thinking of getting one for a while now. So you just copy the img to the root of the sd card and it will read it from there? Hmm, I wonder what it would take to convert an ISo to an img, or even if it can be done that way, straight up. Like, are there special things the pi needs to see to boot off of that other linux systems would not need to see. I wonder what bootloader the img has to have, etc.I know that if you follow the arch wiki, specifically the installation guide, referencing the links they provide when appropriate, you can install a system that way. It works fine, and the commands that are there, you can see as much or as little detail as you need. So you can be like I don't care, just get this thing up and running, and you still have to read a bit and follow what it says, but you don't have to delve in depth about what everything is doing if you don't want to. So, my question would be, is it feasible to convert the talking Arch ISO into an IMG, and have the pi recognize it and boot it. If so, you're all set. Before you start the install, one thing that is not mentioned on the wiki because its irrelevant, the talking Arch latest ISO is from 2017, so not only is it important you get your clock synchronized with ntp and written to the system clock, you also need to refresh the keyring. You need to do that because if not, pacstrap will see PGP keys that are expired, and not allow you to install the packages. I forget the command, I think its like pacman --key --refresh or something. I know that's not right, you'd have to look it up.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

Most likely? Yes. I've been reading the most recent posts and it is clear that this entire OS should be taken down while the script is properly tested and fixd. It shouldn't ave been released yet, obviously, and more testing should've been done. This is why you don't release software until you know or can at least say that it works over 80 percent of the time; this script seems to only have that success rate on VMs and not actual hardware. For now, if you want to install arch, use the wiki -- that has a 100-percent success rate.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

So, umm, I found at least one reason Jenux isn't working on some people's systems, at least mine anyway. In fact, if anyone is running it on bare metal and it worked right out of the box, I'd be interested to hear about it since what I found is, well...OK, so if you let it partition your drive for you, it creates two boot partitions, one of which is an EF00, and the other an EF02. They are EFI and BIOS boot partitions. Not only that, but upon installation of Grub, the script installs three versions it looks like. How its doing that, I have no idea, but its installing i386_pc i386_EFi or something and another oen which is X86-64. So now you have two partitions and three bootloaders. I didn't really look in depth to see what was going on, in fact, this is edging outside my knowledge base a bit, but I'm just reporting what I saw. The EFI spec basically says that finding bootable devices and so forth is basically up to the vendor. I therefore, posit that in some cases, and I would estimate the likelihood to be quite high, that the EFI is just failing to find a possible boot situation amidst the mess. There are ways to detect which mode you're booted into and have the script install the appropriate bootloader and create the correct partition type. So, getting the software to work in a VM is less headachy because if all else fails, you can just modify your VMX file and get it up and running, but I actually would like to run this on a physical machine. That's why I'd be curious if anyone's actually gotten it working, because I'd be amazed. The only way I could see that it would be possible is to boot into legacy mode and the BIOSboot partition appears first, then maybe it has a chance lol, other than that... meh.The installation script also doesn't attempt at all to catch errors. I saw several failures, and the script moved right along as though nothing had happened. First thing, after the prompt about encrypting, and I answered no (I have a story about how encryption failed me badly) It went on later to start encrypting home directory, which by the way, I did not want to do. Anyway, that failed because of CHOWNing some file, but the installer just went on about its merry way. I also recall something else, but it escapes me now. Let it suffice to say that installing Arch is an intricate process. I wouldn't entirely say It's difficult, as all that you need is on the wiki, and you can cross-reference to find what you need among the articles. Sure, for the Linux newbie it would be, but isn't that why Jenux exists, or is the mission statement to be something else. At any rate, it is intricate. A lot of things  need to happen, and they need to be done at the right time and in the right way. So an installation script can't just ignore errors. I also find it a bit disconcerting that it does so, in hopes that no one would notice? It's not as if I keep the speech on, but if something crops up, I want to know about it. And if it's too much to provide backup routines to try to actually fix the error, the script should be suspended and allow the user to drop to a shell, then correct the problem. If that happens, and whatever issue cropped up is now fixed, the user could then resume the script and all would go along as it should.I'm also a bit concerned that none of this is mentioned that I've seen. In other words, to let someone know this isn't production ready (it clearly isn't) and that it's alpha software.I want to put it out there that I respect what the author is doing here, and that I"m not writing this to bash the product, but to try and make it better. If all the kinks could be ironed out, this could definitely be cool, but right now, it's really not ready for daily production use, there are just too many loose ends.

I'm wondering if it was a corrupt ISO. So.could ya, Hacker, put checksums up there and see if we can verify a download is actually not corrupted?

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

OkayNo, the drive was not jostled or powered off in any way. It installed the packages, and stated main OS installed. After that point, it asked if I wanted to remove packages...and locked up when I went to hit N, after picking LTS/Mate preset.Note: I did not, at all, touch the drive at all. Three people can and did verify this. I ended up with a system that installed okay, did all the packages...then broke after installation. I even left it for an hour and nothing changed. Just a screen full of squashfs errors that even hitting any key wouldn't clear.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

Is there a fix for my pi problem? To be clear, here's all what happened. It seems to restart  syncing packages databases again and again, with about 6 packages (core is up to date, Jenux is up to date, Alarm is up to date, Blackheart is up to date.) then all these package warnings/skipping warnings. Every time I interrupt with windows+i or any of the line review commands, it restarts back at syncing package databases. I waited a bit, then hit enter when it asked if I wanted to add another network, I said no, then it exited the script. All over now I suppose? Not really. It seems to have only downloaded about 4gb, when the Arch rootfs was clearly 14gb. I inserted the usb sound card into the pi, plus the wireless dongle for my k63, and I'm not hearing any speech. When I have the speaker plugged partially into the jack, amidst the buzzing I hear a voice that keeps shouting out stuff I can't make out, and the keyboard isn't doing anything.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

Hi, since the command to reread the partition table is run directly after the partitioning step, the partitions on the flash drive are not touched. To verify, run parted, fdisk/gdisk, or whatever partitioning tool you are most comfortable with. If the drive was touched, the partition layout, excluding size differences, would be the same on both the installed system and the flash drive. As for the squashfs error, this most likely indicates that the drive was either jostled during the installation, or powered off in some way, which will cause reading of sfs blocks to fail. To fix this problem, do one of the following:1: if using isolinux in csm mode, after the beep, hit tab, end, type a space, and type copytoram=y, hit enter. Once you hear speech, it should be safe to unplug the drive.2: Use the netboot script mentioned above to boot the target over the network, which does not require a flash drive, downloading the kernel, initramfs, and rootfs into the target's ram and running from there. Since the package download and installation is complete, you have a working system. To fix the unconfigured system problem, either manually follow the arch install guide after the install the base system section, or for automatic configuration, use the post-install tarball for your specific selected software preset, replacing /dev/sda with your hard drive, sda3 with whatever you made your root partition, and sda2 with whatever you made your boot partition. Here's how to do it:1: If using encryption, unlock your LUKS by typing:cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda3 rootIf not using encryption, replace step two's mount command with your root partition, i.e. instead of /dev/mapper/root, put /dev/sda32: mount your root partition:mount /dev/mapper/root /mnt3: mount your boot partition:mount /dev/sda2 /mnt/boot4: cd to /mnt, download and extract the post-installation tarball, replacing preset with your preset name, such as base, gnome, mate, kodi, or all, and run the script:cd /mntcurl https://nashcentral.duckdns.org/autobui … tar.gz|tar -xzarch-chroot /mnt /etc/postinstall.sh /dev/sdaHope this helps.

Re: Jenux OS, The "Next Jen!"

No Iron, the drive wasn't touched. It booted up fine, and I picked my HD I wanted to install. Curiously it said it tried to partition the USB drive (despite specifically selecting the HD)It went through the install, then asked if I wanted to remove packages, and locked up. THen gave me a metric buttload of SquashFS errors about cache and unable to read page, and writethrough errors. Curiously, when I went to instaall a working OS it detected the installed system, but since the Jenux script died before Grub and a user could be set up..
