Re: games recommendation on steam?

Ok so about the weapons, after you pick a character, you have 4 special slots, and you pick the weapons to fill these slots. They are your 4 special techniques. Each character has something like 20 of their own weapons to collect.I believe mana burst is used to repel enemies away to give you breathing room. For me it's done  by pressing l and r at the same time. Dont forget to enable the auto lock on in options.

Re: games recommendation on steam?

so about Croixleur Sigma it was a lag, yes, but I could adjust the resolution and the game runs smoothly right now. managed to beat luc's story mode. here what I understand so far and my questions, you can only equip 2 accessories on any character. I love how you are able to read the accessories' description, at least you know what it is for, so for example if I would like to grind gold and silver I could equip the accessory that has the chance to drop more. I don't fully understand the weapons though, are they only useable for a special attack? also what is mana burst? , is it the one that you press special+the lock on button? although simple I think I like the game so far.

Re: games recommendation on steam?

so yeah, bought myself Croixleur Sigma - Deluxe Edition. so far so good. I notice a bit of a lag though, not sure it's a lag or it is the gameplay itself, I will send a recording later, so maybe those who ever give this game a try could judge. @kenshira if you reading this the controls on the pc version ar customizeable. it will ask you to assign control right when you first boot up the game, you can use ocr here, it will tell you what fungtion to assign. I am really happy as ocr also reads the menu tips.

Re: games that can be played online

Plenty of mainstream fighting games, like killer instinct and injustice 2 have online modes, but of course using them might not be very easy.  Scullgirls would probably be easy enough do to it's screen reader support, asuming the servers are still up.Alteraeon, Star Conquest, and Miriani are MUDS with very expansive soundpacks.Survive the wild and Swamp are both pretty big online games, while Rode to Rage, TDV2, and Sound RTS require you to set up a simple server to play with friends, but can be very fun with the right people.Same with Top Speed 3, if it's not working, it's probably because of your router/windows firewall settings or restrictions from your ISP.Jungle, palace punchup, laser breakout, and bopit ultimate can all be played with friends as well. But none of the action based games are gonna be super stable without a VPS or while not playing on the LAN.

You can include modifier state to the function.4. You can make the keys of the dict collections.namedtuple instead of strings, which lets you include modifiers in the trigger patterns.5. You can move to a more complex variant that uses a list instead of a dict, so that if you have 3 or 4 actions on the same key where only the modifiers are different, you can stop at the first one and do some additional tracking to deal with conflicts better (but then no audiogame really needs this one).8. You can write some helper decorators that let classes advertise configurable key things they want to expose, with defaults, so that if the player object ever changes to something the player can control like a turret, you can have turret specific keys.9. You can write a parser that handles strings like "ctrl + alt + a" and converts them to the dict, thn give the playere nice editable config files.Obviously this varies depending on your library since how your library represents keys will be different from pygame to pyglet to wx to whatever.  So don't expect to copy/paste this and have it work.  But the above approach works in any dynamically typed language, and with some preprocessor magic and creativity you can do something similar in C/C++ if you want.

Re: Games with Python

Pyglet handles 3D better, but recent work on it also expanded its 3D positional Audio support. It still doesn't take full advantage of OpenAL's abilities though, like HRTF, EFX, etc. For that your better off going with a more audio dedicated library. Pygame is fairly dependable, but has historically been used for 2D projects. You could also check out PySFML as a third option.Menu development depends on how you want to handle it. One way is to keep track of the current menu in your main class, and swap between different menu classes as needed in your update cycle. If you like I can provide examples of this, or other things. Online play, otherwise known as network development, can vary. You can use Python Twisted, of which I have a few examples, or go with Sockets like Asyncio, I think theres a few other libraries around somewhere... If your just starting out, you should know that I would classify Network Programming to be an advanced concept, and that you should have a better understanding of existing concepts of development before attempting it. This isn't necessarily because the individual parts of network programming are hard to understand, but because in order to get the best results you have to be able to write very efficient code which can scale, handle desynchronization, latency, packet loss, authentication, failure states, and malicious handling, etc.

The iPhone games by kid friendly software seem to be very, well, kid friendly.  They have a whole bunch of boardgames on there. Blindfold doggy  would be perfect, because it involves taking care of a pet.  It would keep someone busy for a while.  Online deliveries for things may also be possible,  but from what I've seen here that's not quite what you're looking for.

Pyglet is Pygame minus a bunch of stuff, but plus a bunch of stuff if you care about OpenGL.@3 is right: Pygame code can look good depending on the professionalism of the developer.  Also, if you find yourself in the position of importing pygame into every file and having giant if blocks that handle keystrokes, that's a you problem, not a pygame problem.  Even with Pyglet you end up figuring out how to route key events to game objects anyway.

Re: Games with Python

1: I would personally go with pygame. I used pyglet, and I experienced latency issues and found no fix for that. Although in general, your code looks more sorted in pyglet rather than pygame.2. It really depends. Menues are lists after all. Now what matters is the way you want to handle them. The thing is, that many of the functions that pygame, pyglet and other such modules provide are not suitable for audio game development as they're usually inaccessible to the end user.3: I personally found podSixNet to my liking. It's really interesting to use, gives you enough info to get a good grip of your game, and is pretty much lightweight and more importantly, podSixNet is designed to play its roll in multiplayer games so that could be what you're looking for as a game developer. There are other choices like twisted too but not as lightweight.Last but not least you can try frameworks that make your life easier in audio game development, something like lucia which has pretty much all you need except for complete network handling.Check out this topic:https://forum.audiogames.net/topic/3107 … in-python/

I agree with alot of people here, get some legos, I think you can get braille instructions for some of them, or so I have herd. There is also bopit, I have one myself and it can be played by 2 people, also books with pictures in them, the bigger children can read and the smaller ones can just look at the pictures. If you have the nerve, get a rubic's cube, I have one in braille and I wanted to trow it out the window manny times. Also, if you have an iPhone, hatch pet or what ever the name is kinda cute, but simple.Because your kids are sighted, just get the talking tom or Angela games, I know there are more like dogs and stuff and play together. If you have an echo or a dot, try Dark's list of games for it, I can put a short one in here if needed too, or if you can get Google assistant or a google home mini, play trivia, that thing is cool.I have alot in my head now, but I will have to pick some other stuff and put it in another post, this is getting long and I am rambling. The only important stuff is to have fun, no matter what you do.

Re: Games and toys for young children!

by definition, most things on Allexxa are good for both sighted and non-sighted. for kid-friendly Alexxa stuff. I'd recommend the Magic Door. It is sort of interactive fiction of a sort with a very kiddie feel to it. It hasn't had any updates in a long time, but it has a lot of content for you to play.If you have an iPad. Audio Games Hub is a good one, and it has both audio and visual components. Also, I don't know which site has them to purchase, but there is a kid-friendly version of Hi-ho Cherry-o for the little kids as well as candy-land so you all can play, and don't forget you can also have a lot of fun with a brailled set of UNO cards. You can buy them, or with your older kid if they read the cards, cardstock will hold up in a perkins braille writer and you can label a standard deck yourself. And on that note, there is a lot that can be done with an ordinary deck of cards as well. Go Fish, Old Maid, and War for the younger kids, Eucher, rummmy, Spades, hearts, and the like for older kids, and just trying to do card tricks. Maybe teach them some sleight of hand or something. As forgames everyone can play. For virtual pets, you have Hatchi for the iphone and iPad or Iphone, a couple good kid-friendly games from Choiceofgames such as Choice of the Dragon, though only let your kids play the kid-friendly tagged ones because some get adult. Also, never underestimate the power of a good book. Just having you guys listen to an audio book together, or if you have some good braille books around that are kid-friendly, a lot of kids loved that. I was 10 and I still loved to be read to when I was in the hospital a lot.Play storytelling games with one another in person, and teach your kids the joys of "playing Pretend." Also, with Easter coming, it reminds me of something my folks did with me. We would always have a "treasure hunt" and maybe set those up with your kids. Also, you could make games out of regular activities since your kids are home. If you involve the kids in cooking 1. they'll learn a lot, 2. They'll get confidence 3. They'll probably become enthusiastic about cooking. Start with sweets and nice things, but soon pretty much anything will work. Also, for a little fun there is I believe wakka (forget the actual extension as I don't use it) with a dailly joke and a back-log of funny jokes that extend back for years and it's famil-friendly humor.I actually play Braingle.com every day which is brain teasers, trivia questions, and activities to help you improve your brain, some of them I have done and they prove quite fun. Those things are all doable, just the flash games aren't by a blind person but they are by a sighted person. There is also funtrivia.com. It's more meant for adults but there is a notable "for Kids" section that is right up your alley for what you want. Most things are playable on it except for match quizzes and crossword puzzles. You could even perhaps create an account as a family and work together and take turns doing stuff. A lot of the games are timed but I compete quite easily with most of the other players, sighted or not. There were also the many inspector cindy games and other stuff from some 7.21 or something but not sure if that still exists. They still have graphics too. There is also game world which has stuff for both sighted and vi players, though again unfortunatelyy, like several of the other things i have suggested, it is single-player.Even so, you could definitely turn it into a group activity without too much trouble. Also, Legos are a good way to go too as mentioned above and a lot of those suggestions are great that have been mentioned earlier. And Yes, I know vi-friendly scrabble and monopoly exist. I actually have them myself. That's all I have, but if I get more, I'll be sure to tell you.

You could always go on QuentinC and play some games. I love the platform! Hmmm, I'm not really sure what else to recommend. Books are always a good choice. I spent most of my childhood reading. In fact, this was mainly what I did before I discovered computers. It makes me sad that so many people don't like to read.Speaking of reading, Text Adventures AKA Interactive Fiction might also be good. They will make you think and everyone can play them together. If you've got Braille cards, you can play a bunch of card games. Amazon Alexa also has a bunch of games that can be played by multiple players.

Re: Games and toys for young children!

You could always go on QuentinC and play some games. I love the platform! Hmmm, I'm not really sure what else to recommend. Books are always a good choice. I spent most of my childhood reading. In fact, this was mainly what I did before I discovered computers. It makes me sad that so many people don't like to read.Speaking of reading, text adventures might also be good. They will make you think and everyone could play them together. If you've got Braille cards, you can play a bunch of card games.

You can watch movies. That’s what I mostly did when I was a child. If you or your children like scary stories. There are a lot of those on the Internet. There are braille chess sets And checkers as well. I don’t know much about this but shadow Rhyme and audio strike both have graphics if you and your children want to play that

Try the arcade game of the same name by capcom. They actually a few games set around that time. I find it amusing that a japanese game company made games about a US pilot going to war against the Japanese, but they did lol. And because they are arcade vertical shooters, you can pick right up where you died for most of them, making those fully completeable without sight.

Re: games (Steam or Microsoft store) accessible for a totally blind person

@38Glad I could clear that up.  CoPilot is actually great as it means there's no need to awkwardly share the controller and having to be clumped together in a small space.  That and anything I can do (combat in Jedi: Fallen Order for instance) I can still communicate to my CoPilot.  Same when using Share Controller, which is essentially CoPilot over the internet as facilitated by Mixer, Microsoft's streaming platform.  It's all a matter of working out what you can do in a game and, essentially, your CoPilot (local or otherwise) or co-op partner, can assist you with the rest.

I'll edit this post later with additional responses, since I can likely provide further insight.  For now though:@36I didn't have someone sitting with me, that's CoPilot, not co-op (this is a distinct difference in that CoPilot is two people with a controller each in the same room, whereas Co-Op can be online or local and you control different characters, not the same one).  I played via co-op with sighted players who were kind enough to assist me.  Essentially they would act as a navigation aid and I'd do what I could in terms of getting involved with firefights, for instance, getting a fair few kills too, relatively speaking.  Also, I'd be acting as a living checkpoint so that if my co-op partner died they'd spawn on me instead of having to reload the level.  It's not a case of figuring it out, it's a case of being a part of the game.  Same with Gears.  When I played via co-op we'd all help each other, I'd shoot what I could and assist with puzzles, given the lack of accessibility features in the older games it was still a great experience.Hopefully this doesn't have to be the same as technology advances though, given that accessibility is becoming more and more commonplace and sophisticated.  We'll have to see.

Re: games (Steam or Microsoft store) accessible for a totally blind person

@35, I disagree on sightless "completing" the games. From what I heard, he literally had someone sitting with him and telling him what to do. He may have been working the controller, but he wasn't figuring itout. Maybe that's wrong though, but that's what I've heard, and that's definitely not "completing" agame IMO. If I'm wrong I'd love to know the actual truth.
