thanks very much for confirming.. i saw all the comments about a cd
getting clipping and the wireless spdif not being as good as the cd
player spdif... but clearly this is imagination etc.
before i give up on the volume control issue: can i ask please: we know
that no cd player has a volume

Sounds amazing by all accountsno seriously, some seasoned
audiophiles were blown away by this thing at a recent hi-end hi-fi
show. It's uses some serious DSP to ring eveything out of the
box...think of it as Bose gear by people who actually give a toss about
sound

I was planning on getting the appropriate pin-outs and rigging it up
accordingly. I make cables all the time so I don't think it will be a
problem. I might start out with a couple of XLR-to RCA adapters just to
see how the Lavry performs. I'm looking forward to trying it
It would be a dream Squeezeboombox - you want an SB inside, not just
plugged in!
I spoke to some guys at Meridian a while back; they all love the
Squeezebox, and have loads at their factory. A link-up could be a
great opportunity for SD to get some serious audiophile kudos...

Thanks, but no. No. 1, it's ugly. No. 2, how do you get any stereo
imaging out of two speakers that are inches apart?

What I like about Meridian is they have always pushed the active speaker
concept in domestic hifi and now others are starting to come around to
their way of thinking.
If they could just strip the sources out of it and let it go head to
head with say the Apple HiFi, I know which I would buy.

Ah, but they knew someone would say that. One of the knobs is a 'stereo
widening control'.

No, but I'd like to. Single-driver [systems] interest me in general.
The thing I generally like about single drivers is that there is a
defined sweet spot, but the speakers do need to be spaced in relation
to the listening position.

I have seen and heard it and can say that it is a very very interesting
unit. The sound that it produces simply should not be possible from a
unit that small.
If you see one in the stores...go and listen. I guarantee you will be
quite surprised.

It's currently £1495 and is launched in the UK first. Not sure what
they said about beyond UK dates. It's only just hitting the stores
this week.

Wow! For that price, they should -include- a Ferrari!

That's exactly what everyone is saying...this definitely isn't a Bose
WaveRadio here.

As a Meridian user, I did wonder about the price.
£1500 for a table top radio to beat a Boseh
However, £1500 for a CD/DVD/am-fm-DAB radio/clock/2.1 speakers (DSP
derived like the rest of the M range), 3 power amps each at 80w...and
the Ferrari badge ;)
Ok, that badge means now't to me,
Only for fanboys IMHO. No way I'm paying £1,500 to advertise Ferrari,
that'd be like a £1,300 bit of kit branded with Logitech. Oh, wait...

interesting ... I don't mean to doubt your conclusions ... but could
this be a volume/equalization thing? iTunes has its own equalization

I have all the equalization and volume controls turned off in iTunes on
the Mac (and set to fixed on the SB3 as well). There was no difference
in the files or the volume between the Mac directly and the SB3.
Both were connected via the same Toslink cable to the same DAC.

I see that this is not the place to discuss this. Sorry. As I said, I
think the SB3 is a really good product. It is elegantly designed. I'm
not trying to criticize the SB3.

I don't think anyone thought you were trying to be unduly critical of
