As far as I know the Gator board DOESN'T increase Gain..its just doesn't have the slight drop in gain that the Passive Mod does due to it removing the opamp stage all together and feeding the oputput direct from the Dac chip. Its a comparative increase in gain when compared to the Passive Mod

PS: I believe the remaster is the 16 bit version. Depending on who you believe on this thread, this is mastered exactly the same as the 24 bit or it's not. PPS: We can look forward to the vinyl audiophile version. Perhaps they will remove the dynamic compression they've just added in 2009 and

Darren, Nice detective work there. Only one minor quibble. What you labeled as original album version (1988) should read original CD version (1988) since the original album version is from 1967 and is pure analog all the way. darrenyeats;601083 Wrote: Hello Goodbye from Magical Mystery Tour.

Darren - as I said, the 2009 masters have very little additional compression and what there is is transparent - no sign/sound of any dramating hard limiting and the compression curves used are very soft-knee, with maybe only a couple of dB of level reduction. We are a million miles away from
