Well, I wonder what Archimago would think about the waterbubbles that
are controlled by the linear power. Archimago wrote a great review about
the Dac+ Pro, so I do wonder why the video reviewer thought the normal
sound of it was so horrible and that the linear power created a great
audiophile
Thanks, I am ( thanks to a friendly board member) gonna give the Pro a
try.

Oh come on. You probably know exactly what I mean. Obviously our hearing

The Schiit Bifrost now uses the new AKM 4490 chip, current users can
even upgrade their DAC with a new board.
That is what I did - and I love it. To me it sounds even better than the
device was before. CAREFUL - no blind testing, not scientific - just an

Wow, what happened to this thread? What started with a simple question

Well then it was best to sell it - as you did.

As for the sound of Dacs, my Bifrost has the AKM4396, so in theory
should sound no better or different than the Touch.
But it does, even very much so. So it seem it is not only the chip that
makes the difference.

I believe the trouble with CDs being seen as a minor product, with harsh
and cold sound, comes from the very first (affordable)
Archimago as usual your views and research are a very interesting read.
Being a listener with relatively good hearing, I have often asked myself
if there really is a difference between a CD flac and 24/96. Often it is
the better remaster that makes the big difference.
Also maybe the placebo
Also - as far as I know - most DLNA/UPnP clients do NOT support gapless

I have the Touch and a Bifrost DAC and am incredibly happy with the

The Touch is a great little device and the display also comes in handy,
plus you can use the DAC with other devices as well.
I have no idea what the Transporter
