I've setup several rPi LMS servers using piCorePlayer. I used to use
Vortexboxes for LMS servers. Frankly, I find the rPi w/PiCorePlayer
less DIY than the vortexboxes. With no linux knowledge, no computer
building knowledge, and simply following instructions, I found the rPi
setup as LMS
I've never heard of turning off only DAC being possible. I use the
BLANK SAVER plugin to turn off display.

There is no difference. The server is sending the digital music via WiFi

Try turning digital volume up higher in the Transporter using remote or
buttons on transporter. I notice that on my Transporter Digital inputs,
I typically have to turn the volume up more than normal.
