Given that we've narrowed it down to the NAS, I think the next stop
should be the 3rd party hardware forum. Take a read through Thecus
threads and ask for help there, this isn't a TP/audiophile issue
anymore :)

Could you explain how you have your Music folder set up on the Thecus.
Do you have a public directory?
Are you using SMB/CIFS or some ohter protocol?
How is the folder location entered in SC7?

How are your files encoded? FF/REW doesn't work with all file formats.
What server version are you running and did you reset the TP at all?
Have you tried that... hold down '1' on the remote while plugging power
into the unit.

I am using SqueezeCenter 7.0, Transporter firmware version 36, and have
my files encoded in Apple Lossless format. I have also tried resetting
the Transporter by holding down the 1 button, and to no avail.

OK, so first off FF/REW aren't supported for ALAC. However, you should
of course be able to skip to next/prev with those buttons. The thing
with the disappearing tracks usually happens when SC decides a file
doesn't exist - it gets deleted from the database (hence the need for a
rescan).
