I think the churches there belong to the Diocese of Fall River. Maybe
someone who lives there can confirm. I swear I remember someone saying the
records went to Mt. Carmel though. It's been a couple of years, so the
possible exists that I don't remember correctly. Or was given
misinformation.

I originally did an inquiry to the church where it looked like the records
were sent when the church closed. They told me I needed to go to the
Archdiocses for that information. I sent an email to the Bristol Country
Archdiocese archivist, but haven't heard back yet.

Married by M.A. Silva in New Bedford. Anyone have the green St. John the
Baptist book (it was celebrating an anniversary - 125 years? 130 years??
Not sure). I think it had a listing of priests and when they served. I
can't find my copy at the moment.

In 1911, in New Bedford, you'd get married at St. John the Baptist. Sadly,
that parish closed a few years ago. I believe the books were moved to Mt.
Carmel in New Bedford. Do a google search and call them to verify the books
are there. Cheri

Hi JR,
Very interesting, except according to the naturalization papers for
Antonio, he and Maria were married in New Bedford, MA on June 12, 1911. It
also lists Maria as being born in 1891, though the headstone in New Bedford
says 1890, so it seems a bit of an inconsistency, although since
There was a mix-up in your ancestry regarding your greats - Ana da Silva
and Ana Maria da Mota. It turns out they were both married to Jose Ignacio
[de Lima]. First time with Anna da Silva, Oct 18- 1820, in Ponta Garca;
second time with Anna Maria da Mota, Dec 9- 1829, in Povoacao. Anna Maria

They married in 1911, in Massachusetts. The info is in my car right now. I am
upstairs and don't feel like going to the garage to get it. I also found other
info which I will try to send tomorrow.
I have attached a "Portuguese Words" list that I made up. It should help a
little.

Wow, you guys are amazing! And yes, I'm feeling lucky that you guys are so
good at ferreting this information, since I would have no idea how to
follow all this.
JR, thanks for the info -it helps a lot. So with Maria Lima, the
information I have from Antonio's naturalization papers is that he
Yeah Luzia, not Eulalia. It's only 5 letters.
