HI Doreen,
Well, I looked for any and all of those Teixeiras and I don’t have them in my
lines. I have a Joao Machado Teixeira that is a Priest and one that was born
middle to late 1700’s whose father is Bartholomeu Machado Teixeira & Rosa
Maria but they are not even my line. I sometimes just
Yes, I looked at island routes and the archives at the Hawaii.gov site,
couldn't find it there. I'm just wondering if he used another name coming

MY brain wasn't working properly, not YOURS. Sorry about the confusion. Had
been told many years ago by someone at the Portuguese Consulate-General in
Honolulu that the name "Feliciano" didn't sound Portuguese. Anyway, I went to
the public library in Hilo about 15 years ago and found ref
Oh, i had wondered what cabouquiero meant.
I have an Antonio Jose de Lima, b 1804, listed as "cabouquiero" in one
document and a proprietor in another years later. From what I learned about
him in 1852 he sailed to the goldfields of Australia with his 2 sons and his
brother in law, jacint

Harry,
Shirley A. provided you with good information from the Bob de Mello's book.
To find out if your ancestors stayed in Hawaii and died there, you'll need
to do research in Hawaii. It can be tricky because HI was kingdom, a U.S.
Territory and then finally a state. You'll need to do census re

There are a few people with last name of Feliciano in Hawaii, now some say
where born in Puerto Rico, not sure if that is a census error. Because I
know one of my ancestor showed Puerto Rico as birth in a census also and he
was born in Sao Miguel.

Joaquin, Manuel is my 3rd great grandfather. I guess we've found our
connection. Do you have any clue what our connection would be called, i.e.
5th cousins, 8th cousins, etc.?? Also, if the word after casado is the word
for confession, any idea what that would indicate? Perhaps that he died

Angela,
Santa Maria has only 5 parishes. The records are not online. Go to your

When you start your search I recommend you look in Sao Pedro, Vila do
Porto, or Almagreira first. I looked only for Manoel born 1877 Ago 8, and I
did not find the record in Santa Barbara or Santo Espirito.
