Cameron,

Santo Antonio from which island? There are lots of Santo Antonios.

Yeah it could be part of a different parish, but without an island
reference, it will be hard to answer your question.

[AZORES-Genealogy] Baptisms in Santo Antonio pre-1815

So, I've hit a bit of a snag. An ancestor of mine, Prudenciana Narcisa (do 
Coração de Jesus), was born - according to her obit, marriage, and 
children's baptisms to be from Santo Antonio. The problem is, her obit 
lists her age as 80 in her obit in 1865, and the baptisms in Santo Antonio 
on the Centro/Tombo sites don't go back before 1815.


Is this an issue of records being lost, or was Santo Antonio part of a 
different parish at the time? Or is it something else I didn't think of?

I came across the most unusual record today and it is worth sharing. It is a
birth record recorded among the baptismal records of Ribeirinha in Sao
Miguel It is recorded on 20 September 1888,  Manuel son of Antonio Joaquim
do Rego from Ribeirinha and Helena de Jesus Alves from Bretanha. Sao Miguel
The steam ship Berlim was traveling from Baia, Brazil to Terceira.  He was
born on 16 May 1888 at 8:22 am at 8 degrees 45 minutes north Latitude and 29
degrees 57 minutes west longitude. 

 

The parents were married in Ribeirinha and must have went to Brazil and were
returning to the Acores.
