Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Assistance With Death Record

2016-12-01 Thread Sue Q

Thanks, Cheri, for your input. I think I'll not be putting in all of those
details unless something pops up that's really interesting about a
burial—and I can figure it out! I agree that just the important details
should be in. When I first started I felt I had to translate all of the
legal and church procedural stuff, but no more. The cousins who are going
to read that won't be interested, and it's all so repetitive. I'm going to
put in some explanatory notes in the book my cousin and I are working on
just to give people an idea of the kinds of things that were normally
covered in the records and just leave it at that. It's all been an
interesting journey! I am so happy to have made contact with you and this
group. It's so interesting to read what other people are doing and to know
that many of them are having the same struggles!

Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Assistance With Death Record

2016-12-01 Thread Cheri Mello
Hi Sue,

I've heard of things like buried in this or that and accompanied by
whomever. I've always figured that it was something like today's Knights of
Columbus (I don't know if that's an American thing or North American thing
or a world-wide Catholic thing).

Personally, I just put the death date in and where they were buried (such
as the public cemetery). Sometimes I put died without a will. But if you
find the habit and the accompaniment interesting, by all means, put it in
the note field in your death event.

Hopefully someone else can shed more light on this for you. Cheri
