Hello Group,
In reading some of the archived posts, I have discovered that in 1975
Christmas Day was celebrated on January 6th in the Azores.Does
anyone know how long that practice continued?
The reason I ask is that there is a problem with my paternal
Grandfather's USA Marriage Record.
Ginger,
I'm not sure about the Christmas and Epiphany thing in the Azores (I know
what it is in Catholicism), but I know some people chose to celebrate their
birthday on their baptism date instead.

Ginger,
Christmas since the Gregorian Calendar change in 1582 has been celebrated on
December 25th up to now.
January 6th the Catholic Church celebrates Kings day which marks the day
of the Magi Kings arrived to pay homage to baby Jesus.

Hello Group
Merry Christmas to our Azores Family here in this group. I'm on the Central
Coast of California and LOVE it. Yep, getting lots of rain. We need it to
fill our Lake Nacimiento for all our boating and fishing! Be safe out there!

Feliz Navidad to you Sam. Hope you don't meet Montezuma's Revenge in 2011
: )
Ok, not to make all of you who are in the cold and wet areas hate me but;
Feliz Navidad y Feliz Año Nuevo from Sam who got out of CA just in time
and is now in beautiful, warm Mazatlan, Mexico.. J
I figured you would all end it by Christmas day, so as long as you are all
posting to this thread (or the one title Merry Christmas), I'll just let it
go for now as we are a little slow.

Redondo Beach is right over there. I can throw a stone at it from my place.
Celeste is around a 6 hour drive north, I think.
