That's not that unusual, not the norm but does happen. I have one family
that baptized three children at the same time, all different ages. Who know
the why, maybe Dad was at sea and they waited until he returned to have the
ceremony!

I was looking through those records and it seems that's the way it was in
Velas, Sao Jorge. A lot of the baptisms were taking place long after the
births, perhaps because the priest was not available. I have to agree
though, I have never seen this before for such extended periods.

I think this record is my great grandfather. The only US record I have found
that I know with certainty is him is his death record (1912) which lists his
parents as "John Silveira" and "Marianna Florinda" and gives his birth as
"1870" "Azores". What I can get from this record is that he was
