We¹ve been getting a lot of requests from other companies to be involved in
Hack Day, and we¹re wondering how best to handle it so I thought I¹d ask
you guys - you always know best.
So the options are pretty much let anyone come, loads of branding, set up
stalls etc much like a conference.
I think the second option is the best too.

I agree, send only real developers to help people. This would be good
for the company as it allows them to have some representation but also
the attendees as they will have support when building the app.
When do we find out if we are on the list to get in? :)
I'm really looking forward to it.
i'm also for the option :
send only actual real developers to help people build stuff

Certainly if the corporate attendees take away from the 500-person
maximum, then they should only send developers. But bear in mind that,
if companies are willing to spend Significant Amounts to sponsor Hack
Day, and that means that the day can include cool stuff that it wouldn't
otherwise

These horror stories remind me of the companies who either accost you in the
street or cold-call your mobile promising cut-price tariffs, but who don't
actually work for the companies they sell contracts for - it all seems very
shady stuff to me, even if they are legit. Those 6 month free deals
Perhaps we could get all this info in some kind of digestible feed.. That
way it would make more sense on this list ;-)

i see your problems and raise you life in hong kong, where i picked up
a phone for HK$300 in the 3-shop, no contract, and after two months of
local and international calls had a gentle SMS reminder I should pop
into the shop and pay my bill of HK$29.50.
that's about £2.
AND the phones work on the
second option is definitely the right path... though if companies
want to throw some schwag at it, i'm sure some of us could volunteer
to package up and create some schwag bags. (a la valleyschwag)
