Try carving it up into several chunks that get backed up separately.
Make sure your backup server is only trying
Hi,
I'm using backuppc to backup a number of different machines, but am
having some memory consumption issues with the backuppc daemon when
backing up one particular host we just started backing up using
BackupPC 3.0.0.
When backing up this client, the daemon uses over 4GB of RAM causing
the mach

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 149 2007-07-05 15:28 .htaccess

Usually the [SOLVED] tag implies that the problem has been discussed
on the list already, but this was actually something I was about to
post about and then realized the solution before hitting Send.
However, as Eric Raymond said, all problems are shallow to someone...so
here's the problem a
I have similar questions, except the clients will be Mac OS X 10.4.x.
The BackupPC server will be Ubuntu Linux (It's easier that way, in my
opinion).
Is there any documentation relevant to this type of installation? I have
read the FAQ. I am especially curious about resource forks on OS X files
I have been fighting this for about a week now and running circles.
/usr/share/backuppc/bin/BackupPC_dump -v -f localhost
Backup aborted (Unknown module 'root')
dump failed: Unknown module 'root'
OK, so what defines module root?
cat /etc/rsyncd.conf
use chroot = false
hosts allow = 192.168.1.1
I wanted this to go to the list instead of just the original poster.
Every list I'm on seems to deal with from/to/reply-to differently :-(
I also fiddled with this for a while before I got it working. I am using
SuExecUserGroup in a virtual host to set the user id. The cgi must also
be owned by

Hello,
I've a little problem with the CGI interface when I want to add a
Windows computer. For Windows computer I use Rsyncd method and I can't
specify the RsyncdUserName, the field doesn't appear in the web
interface. So, I've to write it in the configuration file with vim on

Don't forget the fundamental difference between rsync and samba.
when i backup using rsyncd from windows share I get these error on some files,
not all though. What's so special about those files anyway ?
