Use Windows Backup to save System State data. Create a job that runs
periodically and saves the data on the local machine. To restore from
bare metal:
1) Install Windows and get the system on the network.
2) Use BackupPc to restore the files to the new system.
3) Use Windows Backup to extract
Don't use the cygdrive in your inclusions/exclusions. Exclude d/Music/
(assuming your Rsync share is d). You can also use wildcarding
(*/Music/), I exclude all IE temp files from Windows backups by
excluding */Temporary Internet Files/*, which has cut my backup space
by over a gig on some
I was using SMB for backups of Windows machines, and had no problem
with large files. However, the SMB restore always exited when I
reached the 2Gb limit when attempted to restore a file larger than
2Gb. I experimented with SMB from the command line, and there is no
problem restoring files
