Hi, I am running BackupPC on 8 Debian linux machines backing up over 1500 Mac OSX 10.4 and 10.3 clients. Works great. I used tar as the transport with xtar on the clients to assure that I get the resource forks. The 10.4 tar should do resource forks, but 10.3 tar will not which is why I use xta

I have similar questions, except the clients will be Mac OS X 10.4.x. The BackupPC server will be Ubuntu Linux (It's easier that way, in my opinion). Is there any documentation relevant to this type of installation? I have read the FAQ. I am especially curious about resource forks on OS X files

Tom, I would be weary of using OS X as your BackupPC server. From what I understand, OS X uses modified versions of tar and rsync. I suspect that even if you do get it working, you might run into compatibility problems if you have any non OS X clients. If you do have a pure OS X shop, I would loo
