That was one of my goals, but I discovered that the btrfs volume was
unable to handle the millions of hard links needed by backuppc...

strongly in the keep it simple camp. Since I'm running BackupPC on a pretty
low spec server, and I've got room for one more, I think option 1 you presented
is my best bet: 1) Run two BackupPC servers and have both back up
