Hello,
This is to let you know that I have released Bacula version 1.38.7 source tar
file to the Bacula section of Source Forge. This release has only two
changes: 1. it fixes a path in the bacula start/stop script. 2. It fixes a
failure of the FD on Windows 2003 systems. In general there is

Backups works fine, except on some random servers i got following error:

I'm using bacula-fd via inetd. This is an example line in inetd.conf:
bacula-fd stream tcpnowait root/usr/local/sbin/bacula-fd bacula-fd -i

As you can see, I'm using the option -i as required for bacula's work

It would probably be better if I actually attached the patch, huh?

Hi!
Just another problem. What happens:
- director starts a backup job. The filedaemon is not present correctly,
so the job is waiting. That's ok.
- I do cancel the job in the director via console.
'status director' shows the job as cancelled.
- I ensure the filedaemon is not running

There was indeed a change in 1.38.x (perhaps as you say 1.38.6). However, it
applies only if the InChanger flag is set in the Media record, which means
that in principle we are dealing with an Autochanger, and in that case, I

The problem is that the files aren't on the tape. If I use the query

In this version, bacula-sd will run as -u bacula -g operator to
avoid problems accessing tape drives with insufficient permission.
When upgrading, be sure to read /usr/ports/UPDATING where you will

Well, I rebooted with the nosmp kernel command line parameter, so there was
only one processor visible. Still had the same crash. With bsmtp again. Is
it time to give up and install 1.38?
Any ideas? Any comments?

Given where the problem is occuring, that is not too surprising.

Well, it looks like it might be time to upgrade to 1.38, unless I can get
these weird crashes resolved. Which brings me to my next question: Are there
RPM's other than the ones on the source forge site? I'm probably going to be
rebuilding the server box with CentOS, so was interested in RHEL4
