[Bacula-users] LTO5 not filling

2011-05-27 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier
Hi,

I'm new to bacula and I'm using LTO 5 of 1,5 TB uncompressed to backup.
The thing is that I only can get it to write 50GB and it sets to full.
The tape drive is a Dell Powervault LTO-5-140 (that is really an IBM
Ultrium-HH5) and I'm using Bacula 5.03 compiled on Red Hat 5.6.

The SD config for the device is :

 Device {
   Name = LTO-5
   Drive Index = 0
   Media Type = LTO-5
   Archive Device = /dev/nst0
   AutomaticMount = yes; # when device opened, read it
   AlwaysOpen = yes;
   RemovableMedia = yes;
   RandomAccess = no;
   AutoChanger = no;
   Maximum File Size = 10GB;
 }

This is what I found in the web for ultrium. Do I have to change any
setting from linux or should I add something else to SD config?
I've run btape test and everything when right. I've also made several
backups of small size and the work fine, it's just that it's detecting
that the tape is full when it's not.
Regads,

Re: [Bacula-users] LTO5 not filling

2011-05-27 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier
John,

thanks for your answer.
The only lines I find in dmesg for the tape are:

st: Version 20070203, fixed bufsize 32768, s/g segs 256
st 4:0:0:0: Attached scsi tape st0
st0: try direct i/o: yes (alignment 512 B)
st0: Block limits 1 - 16777215 bytes.

which seem to be the ones that correspond to the detection of the
device.

Then I find other regarding mt (don't know if it's when I used the mt
command to erase a tape or if bacula uses mt somehow):

INFO: task mt:18856 blocked for more than 120 seconds.
echo 0  /proc/sys/kernel/hung_task_timeout_secs disables this

[Bacula-users] bscan and purged jobs

2011-07-08 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier
Hi,

I'm a newbee to bacula and I had autorecycle=yes on a pool that should
not be recycled. I had a tape recycled and all the jobs purged and I'm
trying to recover the jobs to the database. The thing is that I used
bscan -sSm -V volname DRIVE and it fixes the used space of the tape,
finds the original job and creates a new one (I suppose that is because
it can't restore the original job id for some reason) but when it
finishes, the new job is shown in the database as with errors and the
next clean of the database, sweeps it away. I need to know if I'm using
bscan in a wrong way or if I need to do something else after bscan is
compleated. Besides, the job is spanned in three tapes, and the way
bscan restores assigning a new job is not assigning the job as been in
the tree tapes.

[Bacula-users] Bscan problem

2011-08-08 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier
Hi,

This is the second time I ask (as the first was nobody answered). I
accidentally purged/pruned (by autorecycling the tape) the tape. I'm now trying
to recover it to the database with bscan but
the job appears as finished with errors. I followed the utility
manual instructions but still can't get the job to stay in the
database as correct. This is the output of bscan:

#bscan -m -v -c /etc/bacula/bacula-sd.conf -V Peliculas0001 /dev/nst0

bscan: bscan.c:637 End of all Volumes. VolFiles=39 VolBlocks=0
VolBytes=385,741,503,109
Records would have been added or updated in the catalog:
  1 Media
  1 Pool
  1 Job
 22 File

If anybody can point me any clue, I'd be very pleased.

Re: [Bacula-users] Bscan problem

2011-08-09 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier
Hi Konstantin,

First of all, thanks for your reply.
I've read the post you mention and is not related. I'm trying to recover
a job that is in one tape and the problem is that I get the job rescaned
into the database but with errors.
Reading other posts with problems with bscan I've set all retentions
times (pool, volume and client) to 10 years and disable autoprune and
after that, I no longer get a new job, not even terminated with errors.

 bscan -m -v -c /etc/bacula/bacula-sd.conf -V Peliculas0001 /dev/nst0
bscan: butil.c:281 Using device: /dev/nst0 for reading.
09-ago 11:02 bscan JobId 0: Ready to read from volume Peliculas0001 on
device LTO-5 (/dev/nst0).
bscan: bscan.c:308 Using Database: bacula, User: bacula
bscan: bscan.c:450 Pool record for Peliculas found in DB.
bscan: bscan.c:464 Pool type Backup is OK.
bscan: bscan.c:474 Media record for Peliculas0001 found in DB.
bscan: bscan.c:492 Media type LTO-5 is OK.
bscan: bscan.c:502 VOL_LABEL: OK for Volume: Peliculas0001
bscan: bscan.c:526 SOS_LABEL: Job record not found for JobId: 0
09-ago 12:05 bscan JobId 0: End of Volume at file 39 on device
LTO-5 (/dev/nst0), Volume Peliculas0001
bscan: bscan.c:337-0 == JobId=0
bscan: bscan.c:337-0 == JobId=59
bscan: bscan.c:342 Create JobMedia for Job
PeliculasJOB.2011-06-17_11.59.05_26
bscan: bscan.c:966 Updated Media record at end of Volume: Peliculas0001
09-ago 12:05 bscan JobId 0: End of all volumes.
bscan: bscan.c:966 Updated Media record at end of Volume: Peliculas0001
bscan: bscan.c:637 End of all Volumes. VolFiles=39 VolBlocks=0
VolBytes=385,741,503,109
Records would have been added or updated in the catalog:
  1 Media
  1 Pool
  1 Job
 22 File

Is like bacula is trying to create job 0 to place the records of the pruned job
59 and is actually not adding it to the database.
Before changing the retention times and disabling autoprune, bscan created an
new job (with first available job id) and after a
 succesfull run, the job was indicated in the database as with errors.

Re: [Bacula-users] Ayuda urgente Primer backup!!!

2011-08-10 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier
David,

Translation for everybody :-)

It seems that the problem is in a call withing the pre-run script. It's
no related to bacula. Check in the script /home/.bacula/bacula_cli.py to
correct it if it was configured by yourself or just erase the call from
the job at bacula-dir.conf

Dear Michael,

You're right, after several runs I forgot to place the flag and then
just copied the command and never saw it missing. That's why it's no
longer creating the record, Anyway, the error continues.
The right output is:

 bscan -m -s -v -c /etc/bacula/bacula-sd.conf -V Peliculas0001 /dev/nst0
bscan: butil.c:281 Using device: /dev/nst0 for reading.
10-ago 10:27 bscan JobId 0: Ready to read from volume Peliculas0001 on

bscan: bscan.c:464 Pool type Backup is OK.
bscan: bscan.c:474 Media record for Peliculas0001 found in DB.
bscan: bscan.c:492 Media type LTO-5 is OK.
bscan: bscan.c:502 VOL_LABEL: OK for Volume: Peliculas0001
bscan: bscan.c:1016 Created Client record for Client:
san.montecarlotv.com.uy-fd
bscan: bscan.c:1099 Created new JobId=184 record for original JobId=59
10-ago 11:30 bscan JobId 0: End of Volume at file 39 on device
LTO-5 (/dev/nst0), Volume Peliculas0001
bscan: bscan.c:337-0 == JobId=0
bscan: bscan.c:337-0 == JobId=184
bscan: bscan.c:342 Create JobMedia for Job
PeliculasJOB.2011-06-17_11.59.05_26
bscan: bscan.c:1246 Created JobMedia record JobId 184, MediaId 22
bscan: bscan.c:966 Updated Media record at end of Volume: Peliculas0001
10-ago 11:30 bscan JobId 0: End of all volumes.
bscan: bscan.c:966 Updated Media record at end of Volume: Peliculas0001
bscan: bscan.c:637 End of all Volumes. VolFiles=39 VolBlocks=0
VolBytes=385,741,503,109
Records added or updated in the catalog:
  1 Media
  1 Pool
  1 Job
 22 File

As you can see, bscan reports no error, but the record in the database
is not right.
I found that the FileSetId does not match the original Id, instead
figures as 0 and that seems to be the only error I manually changed
it.
I marked the job manually as correct in the database and trying to
recover a file to see if this works, I don't know if that's safe, but at
least to keep it in the base until we figure out where I'm messing up.
Regards

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula-users Digest, Vol 78, Issue 9

2012-10-11 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier

Hi,

I'm curious about the behaviour of bacula. Recently I was backing up a
directory and meanwhile I added more directories to it. to my surprise,
Bacula backed up everything, not just the files that where in the
directory. I'm used to other backup and synchronization software that
create a file list before starting to actually do the backup. This means
that if new files or directory are added to the target, they are not
taken into account and if anything is deleted before being backed up, it
either warns or quit with error. This protects against the possibility
of believe that something was backed up but actually, was not.

Can someone confirm this and maybe help me get a work around to this?
Regards,

Juan Pablo Lorier

the database and thus if I run a job using those filesets, I get an error.
Can anyone give me a help with this?
Regards,

2013-09-26 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier
Hi,

Sorry for the delay, but I'm now trying to reproduce the problem and I
get other problems. ASAP I can get back to the original error, I'll let
you know.

 What error did you get? Can I assume you've got a Syntax error?

 Can anyone give me a help with this?
 Sure.

[Bacula-users] New filesets not getting in the database

2013-11-04 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier

Hi,

I've created new filesets to backup new servers but though they are
in the bacula-dir.conf and I've reloaded the config, but the
filesets are not been created in the database and thus, are not
shown in bconsole or bat. Other kind of records like clients,
backups records, etc are created normaly.
I see no error in the bacula logs, so I have no clue why this could
be happening. Any ideas how to debugg this to see why filesets are
not been created?
Regards,

Hi Kern,

Thank you. I thought that the error with the job was related with the
fileset not been in the database, but then it's the other way arround.

[Bacula-users] Restoring to the wrong client

2013-11-13 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier
Hi,

I've moved the director to a new server and thus changed the client for
the restore jobs. The thing is though I have loaded the changes, and
even choose the client manually for the restore, bacula still delivers
the files to the client declared in the backup job.
If I change the client of the backup job, then it works.
The versions are bacula 5.0.3 on Centos 6.4.

[Bacula-users] Is network compression possible in a copy job?

2016-11-23 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier
I have a replication among two datacenters and I use a copy job to copy
all backups from datacenter A to B. The thing is that BW is getting
short and I want to know if is possible to compress the data sent by the
network to the second storage daemon.
