[Bacula-users] LTO5 not filling
Hi, I'm new to bacula and I'm using LTO 5 of 1,5 TB uncompressed to backup. The thing is that I only can get it to write 50GB and it sets to full. The tape drive is a Dell Powervault LTO-5-140 (that is really an IBM Ultrium-HH5) and I'm using Bacula 5.03 compiled on Red Hat 5.6. The SD config for the device is : Device { Name = LTO-5 Drive Index = 0 Media Type = LTO-5 Archive Device = /dev/nst0 AutomaticMount = yes; # when device opened, read it AlwaysOpen = yes; RemovableMedia = yes; RandomAccess = no; AutoChanger = no; Maximum File Size = 10GB; } This is what I found in the web for ultrium. Do I have to change any setting from linux or should I add something else to SD config? I've run btape test and everything when right. I've also made several backups of small size and the work fine, it's just that it's detecting that the tape is full when it's not. John, thanks for your answer. The only lines I find in dmesg for the tape are: st: Version 20070203, fixed bufsize 32768, s/g segs 256 st 4:0:0:0: Attached scsi tape st0 st0: try direct i/o: yes (alignment 512 B) st0: Block limits 1 - 16777215 bytes. which seem to be the ones that correspond to the detection of the device. [Bacula-users] bscan and purged jobs
Hi, I'm a newbee to bacula and I had autorecycle=yes on a pool that should not be recycled. I had a tape recycled and all the jobs purged and I'm trying to recover the jobs to the database. The thing is that I used bscan -sSm -V volname DRIVE and it fixes the used space of the tape, finds the original job and creates a new one (I suppose that is because it can't restore the original job id for some reason) but when it finishes, the new job is shown in the database as with errors and the next clean of the database, sweeps it away. I need to know if I'm using bscan in a wrong way or if I need to do something else after bscan is compleated. Besides, the job is spanned in three tapes, and the way bscan restores assigning a new job is not assigning the job as been in the tree tapes. Hi, This is the second time I ask (as the first was nobody answered). I accidentally purged/pruned (by autorecycling the tape) the tape. Re: [Bacula-users] Bscan problem
Hi Konstantin, First of all, thanks for your reply. I've read the post you mention and is not related. I'm trying to recover a job that is in one tape and the problem is that I get the job rescaned into the database but with errors. Reading other posts with problems with bscan I've set all retentions times (pool, volume and client) to 10 years and disable autoprune and after that, I no longer get a new job, not even terminated with errors. bscan -m -v -c /etc/bacula/bacula-sd.conf -V Peliculas0001 /dev/nst0 bscan: butil.c:281 Using device: /dev/nst0 for reading. 09-ago 11:02 bscan JobId 0: Ready to read from volume Peliculas0001 on device LTO-5 (/dev/nst0). bscan: bscan.c:308 Using Database: bacula, User: bacula bscan: bscan.c:450 Pool record for Peliculas found in DB. bscan: bscan.c:464 Pool type Backup is OK. bscan: bscan.c:474 Media record for Peliculas0001 found in DB. bscan: bscan.c:492 Media type LTO-5 is OK. bscan: bscan.c:502 VOL_LABEL: OK for Volume: Peliculas0001 bscan: bscan.c:526 SOS_LABEL: Job record not found for JobId: 0 09-ago 12:05 bscan JobId 0: End of Volume at file 39 on device LTO-5 (/dev/nst0), Volume Peliculas0001 bscan: bscan.c:337-0 == JobId=0 bscan: bscan.c:337-0 == JobId=59 bscan: bscan.c:342 Create JobMedia for Job PeliculasJOB.2011-06-17_11.59.05_26 bscan: bscan.c:966 Updated Media record at end of Volume: Peliculas0001 09-ago 12:05 bscan JobId 0: End of all volumes. bscan: bscan.c:966 Updated Media record at end of Volume: Peliculas0001 bscan: bscan.c:637 End of all Volumes. Re: [Bacula-users] Ayuda urgente Primer backup!!!
Translation for everybody :-) It seems that the problem is in a call withing the pre-run script. It's no related to bacula. Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula-users Digest, Vol 78, Issue 9
Hi, I'm curious about the behaviour of bacula. Recently I was backing up a directory and meanwhile I added more directories to it. to my surprise, Bacula backed up everything, not just the files that where in the directory. I'm used to other backup and synchronization software that create a file list before starting to actually do the backup. This means that if new files or directory are added to the target, they are not taken into account and if anything is deleted before being backed up, it either warns or quit with error. This protects against the possibility of believe that something was backed up but actually, was not. Can someone confirm this and maybe help me get a work around to this? I have a replication among two datacenters and I use a copy job to copy all backups from datacenter A to B. The thing is that BW is getting short and I want to know if is possible to compress the data sent by the network to the second storage daemon.
