Right. GRUB is pretty much a x86-only program. Most ARM boards use uBoot.
The Raspberry-Pi's use their own thing and are the only (?) ARM boards that
that need a FAT /boot partition.
Typing 'help' at the boot loader prompt will get you a list of commands.

I am looking into installing Xenomai with a RT kenel based on 4.4.91-ti-r133,
but the Xenomai install documentation I am finding talks about building/using
a 3.8 vintage kernel. Is this documentation valid for the 4.4.91-ti-r133
kernel?

Should be fine. If it is like the BeagleBoneBlack or PocketBeagle the USB
power and header Vin pins go to seperate pins on the power management chip,
which takes care of selecting power sources, depending on what is available.

The Microsoft Visual C/C++ compiler compiles to x86 or x86_64 for the
MS-Windows O/S. That won't run on the BeagleBone. The Linux (Debian) O/S

Or you can do what Adafruit did: use it in write-only mode. Or not use the
hardware SPI at all, and just bit-bang some GPIO pins. I think the GPIO pins
can be set to a bi-directional mod
Well, /usr/include/spi/spidev.h on my Raspberry Pi actually talks about
sending 9-bit messages in its comments... So, I am *presuming* that it is
possible...

If I am applying a 5V power supply to the Vin pin (P1-1) of a Pocket Beagle
(say from an expansion board that includes a power supply), is it safe to also
plug in a [powered] micro-USB cable? That is, does the Pocket Beagle have a
