The talks are recorded and put on YouTube but I do not believe any of
the workshops were recorded.

No on-board storage, you have the write an image to the microSD card..

Using etcher.io

https://etcher.io/

Grab the latest snapshot:

https://rcn-ee.net/rootfs/bb.org/testing/2017-10-17/stretch-iot/bone-debian-9.2-iot-armhf-2017-10-17-4gb.img.xz

and give it another go.. (don't edit the microSD before you try to boot with it)

[beagleboard] RE: Serial Communication Via XBee, BBB, and AT Commands/Yea Boy!

2017-10-19 Thread Mala Dies
Hello,

I am following along in a book, "The Hands-on XBee Lab Manual" by Titus. If
you are a newcomer to XBee and the BBB, get w/ me on this project. Purchase
the book and we can rewind and retrieve on BBB, XBee ideas, and w/ AT
Commands.

Seth

P.S. If you are experienced in XBee and serial/UART communication, jump on
in. There is no reason to just make this entire forum full of our
complaints or issues. We can use this forum as a discussion board, too. So,
anyway. Please contact me or leave a message to this post in the methods
you use to perform serial communications w/ your XBee and the BBB. Yea boy!
Digi International has a ton of free resources too. You can find them at
digi.com. So, get a BBB, a XBee, and an adapter board. Then, we can
serialize communications to the advancement of our forum. Oh and see
here: http://www.mathsisfun.com/binary-decimal-hexadecimal-converter.html.
If you need to convert, there is a free resource.

[beagleboard] Beaglebone wireless not recognized by the pc

2017-10-19 Thread liuyangedward
Hi,

I'm relatively new to the BBB. My BBB wireless suddenly lost connection to
my PC. Both my Windows10 and Linux can't see BBB connected to my PC as if
nothing is connected (for example that's what I found in device manager ).
To put it in another way, BBB doesn't appear as a USB drive and I can't ssh
to 192.168.7.2. I've tried this on different PC, different OS and with
different cables.

After I power it on via USB, the 'Power' light is on and USR0 is flashing.
I guess the board is still working but it can't talk to PC via USB?? Does
anyone have any thought on this? Thanks!

Re: [beagleboard] Re: BBB not powering on

2017-10-19 Thread Graham Haddock
All of your description points at a power supply problem.
If the USB power, even for a millisecond, drops below 4.5 Volts AT THE BBB,
the PMIC (Power Management IC) will shutdown.
If you have a computer with a USB port on the low side of the USB Voltage
range (4.5 to 5.5 Volts) then what you describe happens.
So that you have some margin in the system, you should hold the power AT
THE BBB between 4.75 and 5.25 Volts, even with heavy loads of booting or
updating.

If you put an oscilloscope on the power connector of the BBB, you should be
able to see what is happening.

Correct, neither the ENC28 nor the WIZNET based modules have a
built-in mac address (no eeprom on the module). So it's kinda-random
on every bootup..

[beagleboard] Re: BBB not powering on

2017-10-19 Thread Marco Thome
Thing is that I'm using only the provided USB cable. What troubles me is
that the board turns on when I'm using a power adapter (DC jack), but it
dies as soon as I connect it to the computer with an USB cable.

[beagleboard] USB client port usage with android tablet

2017-10-19 Thread nik600
Dear all

is possible to use the mini USB port on the BBB REV.C to communicate with a
tablet via TCP/IP ?

If i connect the USB to my ubuntu laptop i see that the g_ether module is
loaded and a new ethx device is created, allowing me to connect to the BBB
on 192.168.7.2.

Is possible to do the same connecting the BBB and a tablet running android
4.4.2 ?

What features should the tablet support?

Thanks

Re: [beagleboard] Restoring MLO and uboot to eMMC and microSD

2017-10-19 Thread 'Luther Goh Lu Feng' via BeagleBoard
I have a BBB which has the eMMC flashed from the microSD card using the
flasher script. Therefore, the MLO and the u-boot should be idenitical.

Referencing the eewiki page[1]I backed up the MLO from the eMMC and the
microSD:

sudo dd if=/dev/mmcblk0 of=./mmcblk0_MLO count=1 seek=1 bs=128k
sudo dd if=/dev/mmcblk1 of=./mmcblk1_MLO count=1 seek=1 bs=128k

The shasums are however different:

debian@beaglebone:~$ sha256sum mmcblk0_MLO
493f8723705c73c3383898658ce2b1855bbca219825198d2a23b115ce30a4ada
mmcblk0_MLO
debian@beaglebone:~$ sha256sum mmcblk1_MLO
51d7b68ec8eac56f6d04371c77885332e9eedc7c5434350750ba58f51e86fd56
mmcblk1_MLO

Am I backing up the MLO correctly?
