Thank you as always for all your hard work. That cover bug has been
plaguing me for 2 years!! Now i can finally do the mass move on my library
that I've been waiting for!

When i import an album I usually have a sub-directory in my source
directory called 'artwork' that i'd like to move into the final directory
for the album, but the CopyArtifacts plugin seems long dead. It looks like
there's a way to accomplish this with the Hook plugin. Looking at the
Plugin
I would like to be able to tell beets to do things like "list all of the albums
of my collection that contain song titles with the word 'love' in them."
Currently, even if I change the listing format so that it only shows the album
name and group name, I'm still going to get duplicate listings
Is that going to mess up file names that are in non-english languages?

That was my first thought too, however this has been my main audio/beets
library drive for a year now and the band "a-ha" is the *only* one affected
out of 1,651 artists.

Importing any songs from the band "a-ha" almost removes them from my drive.
They can't be found with ls or beets but they can be found via find:
a directory listing of the a-ha directory only shows one album

The directory is

This is a long-standing issue that i'm having. I have a cover.jpg in each
directory. When beets moves the file into a new directory it seems to
rename it as cover.1.jpg and then it can't find that file and craps out.
If it does manage to move the file it still renames all graphics in my

Rush released a few albums as vinyl + a digital
download: https://musicbrainz.org/release/930c25c7-f039-4659-bffa-34fb263320c1
I want to import the digital download into my collection. Since the tracks
are the same and the vinyl is listed first, beets assumes that i'm tagging
the vinyl.
How
Will do.

I know that the absubmit plugin is still under development, but i'm getting
errors from beets when it's enabled. I'm posting this here in case it's
not a real bug and i'm just missing something (either figuratively or in my
installation).

It looks like it would be a re-factoring of how things are currently coded

Also, for what it's worth, wavpack support, while not as ubiquitous as
flac, is pretty good. Anything using gstreamer or ffmpeg/avlib will play
with it, and that covers most things. Where the support falls short is for
the hybrid files, as that's even more niche.

I use Wavpack too Andy, but i use non-hybrid files. I've messed with
Wavpack hybrid and it works alright if you put the copyartifacts plugin
into your config. The problem is in the file renaming. When it moves the
files into the directory, it doesn't rename the wvc files, so it only works

It does help. I mean i knew about the 'effort' component, i was wondering
about it from an api perspective.
If i were to learn Python a little more, would this be accepted as a

Oh, i know that the binary components aren't printed, but why can't i query

It depends on a lot of factors. It depends on how fast your computer system
is, how fast you are to respond to prompts and finally how quick you are to
look through the resulting import and look for any inconsistencies. Above
all, make a backup first!! It's taken me weeks to import 1300

Well, at this point i think it's only a problem i'm having. I can say that
doing an additional fetchart on the offending directory fixes the problem.

So then if i re-compress file, change it from 24-bit to 16 or change the
file type, then a 'beet update' should bring everything in to alignment
again?

I'm a little confused (as usual).
The update plugin updates your music files based on changes to the files
that have been made outside of beets, but there doesn't seem to be one to
handle changes based on Musicbrainz.
What plugin do we use to have beets make changes to music files based on
